Short arms don’t help you shoot, but if you do have short arms, you usually have to be able to shoot if you want a chance in the league. It’s selection bias that makes it seem like short arms make better shooters on average. Jimmy butler has short arms but is not a great shooter, but he’s talented enough in other ways to be great.
Lower wingspan does help. Reddick 6’3 height 6’3 wingspan, Klay 6’6 height 6’9 wingspan, curry 6’2 height 6’3.5 wingspan. Most of the great 3 point shooters have an ape index from 0-3 inches
