fun fact: there is a non-zero chance that my dad, clyde drexler, jim nantz, and hakeem were all in the same room together at one point as they all attended UH at the same time
@@ycmao3910 he said there's a chance they were in the same room. Not that they were friends or even talked
@@ycmao3910 bro my history teacher went to college with mark zuckerberg it doesn’t mean they even spoke. He is just saying it is higher than 0% that it happened. It most likely did not, but it’s possible hence the comment

Idk if Hakeem gets enough credit honestly. He wasn't just a great two player, he was one of the best offensive players during his career and THE BEST defender that whole time. Easy top 10 player all time
Arguably the BEST center ever, although the greatest is still Kareem
@@GuiltyMelly wilt👀
nah, he's 11 or 12 at best

Hakeem is like the only dude other than jordan who doesn’t really have a knock against his career
Other than the people who put an asterisk on his championships due to Jordan playing baseball at the time. As a Rockets fan, there is no asterisk.
@@Cyantist13 I dont even think that’s valid, without the presence of a guy like rodman i think that bulls team would have fell behind, which was evident when mj returned without horace grant, and even if they made the finals, many people (including jordan) have said that hakeem would be a horrible matchup for them, not to suggest he’s better than mj, but they very well could have beaten the bulls.
Tim Duncan
Bill Russell
No big flaws in their game either
2:54 HEAVY PAUSE LMAOO😭😭
would be fun to see reagan doin alley-oops to hakeem in the finals
Loll
It’s funny cuz Hakeem was part of a revolution that made basketball progressively better since the 80’s, meanwhile reagan & trickle down has been ruining America since the 80’s
hakeem is in my top 10 and the greatest center ever for me
same here
Top 10 all time player
As a very proud houston rockets fan I can tell you from the bottom of my heart we love hakeem more than anything in this world besides james harden
how do you love harden more??? he didnt produce anything but an mvp and pretended to be fat at practice in order to get traded to the nets
@@codykay6871 i ain’t say i love harden more, hakeem is my father, but harden should’ve won 2 mvps, and is top 5 offensive players ever
@@yeetuscleetus8650 you said you love hakeem more than anything in the world aside from harden, which means you love harden more than hakeem. And even if he did that still wouldn't change the fact he never did anything for yall in the postseason, whereas hakeem got you 2 rings. plus harden still wanted out of there at the end and faked his fatness to leave any way he could. also hes a foul baiter so his offense stats are inflated
@@codykay6871
The best part is how some people think Curry is better than Harden. I like how Curry fans try to say they did it on their own. Cute. When it was clearly Jerry West. Didn't the Warriors want a Monta Ellis and Curry duo. That's when Jerry West joined and said otherwise. I remember the warriors fans booing this decision on Chris Mullin jersey retirement night. In Oakland. You're a San Francisco fan or a Oakland fan? Did you bandwagon the entire time? Sorry Oakland. Didn't Curry fans try to call the warriors. "The greatest team of all time". Well until they blew a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals.
The greatest choke job in NBA history. Kind funny when 1975 warriors champ is basically the opposite of the 3-1 choke job. Warriors never won a champ without a major injury to their opponent's top two stars in 2015, 2017, and 2018. Doesn't this include dirty plays when they clearly had the better roster. Guess they didn't believe in Curry like they claim. Kinda funny to watch Curry fans call KD superteam ring fake... When Curry shares the same superteam ring. They're trying to cut the finger to save the hand.
@@JamesHardenoverKobe how are you going to cite the 2002 playoffs as kobe winning off free throws when they swept the nets? clearly the game was decided in another way lmao. not to mention, shaq won finals mvp, not kobe so it wasnt kobe who won them the game. as for 2006, yea it seems like wade got a disproportionate amount of fts but 1. I never said wade was better than a player like hakeem (tho he does have a better argument than harden) and 2. at least foul baiting worked in his favor, unlike harden who again cant perform in the playoffs. Also no idea how jerry west comes into play with curry and the superteams, never said anything about curry, tho his 5 rings, 1 (should be 2) finals mvps, and 2 mvs far outranks hardens 1 mvp and master chokejob in his one finals appearance, which was also on a separate team than the rockets, need i remind you. Pretty sure your entire second comment was total gibberish so i didnt wanna talk about it but saying harden is better than curry in any capacity is ludicrous and warrants a visit to the doctor lmao
Me personally i think hakeem is the best center and ngl he's quite underrated
Underrated legend
As a nigerian so proud of his career
Olajuwon could dream shake from the 3pt line to the paint in today's no-travel NBA era
Hakeem’s my favorite player of all time, Bill Russell would definitely have more career blocks than him if they counted the stat back then but Hakeem did it against the giants of the 80s and 90s
Nope! Bill Russell barely played like 930 games, no way he has more blocks than Olajuwon. Not to mention there were zero players like Jordan, Drexler, Dominique, or Barkley playing in the 60's
@@hakeemolajuwon4352 Wilt and Bill were blocking shot all day in their era
@@kig4794 lmao against who tho? There were 8 teams back then and none of them had the athletes or skilled players of the 80's and 90's

A bsj reference, a man of culture i see
Hakeem in my top 5
Absolute gun
Great channel to add to my subscriptions
Goat center
2nd best 2way player behind Jordan
Jordan is #2. Olajuwon had a quadruple double and retired top 10 in points, rebounds, steals, and blocks the only player in history to do that
He got drafted over Jordan and nobody talks badly about the rockets for it. He's him
Best center ever idc
Found u recently an u one of my favorite NBA RUclipsrs now
The fact that older generation players can beat current generation players without having a 3PT shot shows the level of talent and skills back then.
If you put 1993-1995 Hakeem in 2023 NBA, he will be in the top 3 MVP candidate. He doesn't need a 3PT shot or to stat-pad assists to be able to show the league that he is the best player.
precisely why the plumber argument is literal doodoo water
My top 5 at center is always Dream
Nice video man you deserve more views . I'll keep watching
Bro u are awesome, this was my first time seeing your channel, and you have earned a sub.
Dude was very good 2nd option to Kenny Smith
That’s just it these guys like Hakeem would definitely be able to shoot the three and even the every day player of that time would have played and practiced accordingly to play the game how it is played whenever.
Reagan’s spin move would leave you looking for your jock though...
Good video young man.
Hakeem is the best 5 to ever do it, and in all honesty, it's not even close.
gotta be one of if not the best iso / 1 on 1 players ever, imagine how nightmarish a matchup against him would be. You'll never get a rebound, or even get a shot off. And good luck stopping him

You know you are good when no one really argues why you were drafted before Jordan.

Learn to shoot 3s? He could actually, and was pretty good at it too.

I gotta be real, still think MIchael Olowokandi & Greg Oden were better.
Sup dude
Hakeem can do 3 points very good but he didn't like coz he's not having fun with it

If you think he's the best post scorer fine I'll give you that one bro but shot blocker no so we ain't gone act like wilt chamberlain didn't exist.............a guy recorded wilts blocks for 3 games cuz they wasn't tracking blocks back then for these 3 games ...........he averaged 8 blocks .............8 idk bout you idk anybody getting 8 blocks in 3 straight nba games
Soccer 🤮 its FOOTBALL not soccer

that's what im sayin
My unc taught Hakeem the Quran
Someone once told me "Hakeem is so good that the Rockets drafted him over MJ and nobody gives them shit for it"
That's a very good point... Probably too busy giving the Blazers shit for drafting Sam Bowie over MJ though.... which hurts as a Blazers fan, but we deserve it lol
McCockiner reference
@@thecowgoesvroom672 W
@ORiONizAqt yall had Drexler, who you just drafted in the lottery the previous year, it would've made no sense to draft MJ.
@@matthewhewitt4145 As someone told the Blazers about MJ: "If you need a center, then play him at Goddamn center."
"hospice avengers" got me bro 💀💀
Olajuwon is easily the greatest center, greatest defensive player, greatest post player of all time! For his first 13 seasons he recorded between 220-376 blocks and between 99-213 steals each season, there's literally nobody that can even pretend to come close to that. Olajuwon dominated 4 of the top 10 greatest centers of all time in the WCF and Finals and from 84'-93' he had an 11-5 record against Jordan including going 5-1 against the first 3peat Bulls. Every other center that people pretend are better than Olajuwon all had stacked squads from day 1 and still couldn't do half of the incredible things Olajuwon was doing nightly. IMO there's Olajuwon and Jordan and then there's everybody else, nobody comes close to those two.
agreed
You know you're one of the greatest to ever lace em up when you get selected before Michael Jordan, and to this day, no one has ever given the Rockets flack for doing so.
Man he really was hittin em with lateral movement.
He hit em WITH THAT LATERAL MOVEMENT!
When you talk about goats. . .Put Some Respect On His Name!!! Hakeem Olajuwon!
2:54 3:06 Pause x2
2:54 pause 😂
I also think Hakeem is really really really really really really really good at basketball
Between Hakeem and MJ I'm picking Hakeem to play center on my team 365 days of the year (366 in the leap year)
Goober back with another banger
Hakeem would be hands down the best player in the league the last 20 years.
Bring it.
Idunoooo, the Joker's looking really good in his own way
@@abaddonthelordofavernus.4353 imagine if jokic was as good at defense as he was at offense. That’s hakeem.
@@stolensentience Yeah, Hakeem definitely has GOAT-level Defense and is completely unstoppable in the post, but Jokic far better on offense it's not even funny. Amazingly efficient and gets his team hot as well by giving them the easiest looks ever, he's the only one of his kind in the NBA so far imo. I guess we'll see in the next 5 years where Jokic stands among the all-time list. Cheers.
@@abaddonthelordofavernus.4353 jokic is a better point center but is nowhere near Hakeem’s post offense, “and it’s not even funny.” I’ll take a better scorer (and defender) over a better passer. Hakeem in today’s game would have way more assists as well so I’m hardly impressed by today’s high usage players collecting assists (and stats in general).
Olajuwon was Jordan's daddy too!
w Hakeem, w goob
One relatively underrated player is Kevin McHale. When it comes to post moves, he and Dream are my favorites.
hey how do you process your audio really want to start my own channel thank you
JOHANN CRUYFF's cruyff turn inspired the shake
Oh, dude COULD shoot the three, he sometimes capped playoff games by swishing one.
Lets be fair, they came up with the defensive player of the year specifically for Sidney Moncrief, also won back to backs, and is the only guard to ever do so. But dream is GOAT defender for sure
goober is my form of delight in this cruel world
Why did he have to say he’s an expert with balls???😂
reagan was too busy committing treason and shit to be hoopin
THIS is the most skilled big man ever. A true big man. Not no stick figure like KD. And he played in the 90s kids. Learn history and not from trash ex players of the 2010s
I'd wager in 4 years Nikola Jokic shares that title. Three way scorer, can bully or finess his way into the basket, those damn passes, he's typically not as flashy as Hakeem in the post but he can pull out some moves every now and then. Love both these guys.
Giannis episode one day? 😋
