    I'm European and I partially agree. It's true that the NBA will always be more talented both physically and technically, but you should also consider other factors. In Europe if someone tries to play hero ball like in the NBA he will be cut from the team, it doesn't matter how good he is, they teach you that the team is more important than you right from the start, so no one cares about scoring a lot of points or doing crazy dunks. In the US you're the superstar since middle school basically. That's just a cultural difference. That's why a lot of USA players struggle to keep up to the ball movement in Europe. Moreover in Europe players are not used to play 82 games + playoffs, teams that go really far play only 60 games + playoffs and back to back doesn't exist. And last but not least sometimes certain players just don't get the right chance, Teososic is clearly better than guys like tre Jones, Justin Holiday, Coby White and most of the pgs from the bench, but when he played he didn't have the ball in his hands, he was the secondary playmaker and a spot-up shooter. Nicolò Melli is one of the greatest defensive minds that you could see in any court in the last 5 years, but in the NBA he was utilised like a stretch 4 with offensive goals. Here in Europe if your best player has a 4-7-5-4-2 shooting only 4 times it's a really good game, because we don't care about how many points did you score, we only care about winning, and grabbing 7 boards, dishing 5 assists and playing great defense it's more useful to win. That's also why averaging 15 points and 7 assists it's really amazing, because you are capable of doing that while sharing the ball with other players almost equally. In the NBA the best players have double (or even more sometimes) usage than the second or third one. And I'm not saying that it's wrong, it's just a different mentality

    • @kb0x
      @kb0x 5 месяцев назад

      Yea as an American I agree. Europe is essentialy 1 cohesive unit and the NBA has mainy 1 star and a goos supporting cast. It's not always the NBA/EuroLeague player's fault because they struggle to adjust, it can be hard.
      Also thanks for explaining it in a way that doesn't make it snobbish or like if I don't watch EuroLeague I don't know basketball.

      @@tinezakotnik15 not 100% correct. That's how football champion's league works. In basketball Euroleague has contracts with teams from all over europe (+ maccabi from israel). It doesn't matter what they do in the domestic national championship for those teams. Then there are some remaining spots that are wildcards (with 1/2 years contracts) and 2 spots for the winners of the eurocup (which is a tier bellow euroleague and teams qualify to play in eurocup based on their national leagues standings. of course 99% of the time, winners of their national leagues are euroleague teams, so the 3rd, 4th, etc standing in national league earns them a spot in eurocup).

    the game is different in europe. the biggest game changer is the defensive 3 sec. that coupled with other small differences like the slightly smaller court and a lot of handchecking makes iso plays harder and players playing team defense. That;s why there are so many offensive plays with passes all the time...Scoring is harder in eu, defense is better, but the team defense is better, the 1v1 defensive skills of the nba players are far greater. That's he main reason you see eu mvps that "cant defend" in the nba.
    as far as spanoulis, he was one the best guards. problem is, great players have great egos as well :D not a lot of players have the mentality to accept to be treated like a rookie when they have years of playing experience and are regarded as a top athlete.
    NBA still has the better teams -although I would argue that I am finding regular season games less and less enjoyable to watch, I 'd rather watch euroleague games- I think anyone would agree that the nba champions would decimate the el champions in a series that would matter yes, but the gap is closing, I believe top el teams can be competitive vs non playoff nba teams (as far as they play fiba rules, nba rules no eu team can compete even with the worst nba team).

    You're not proving anything by saying "That Euroleague dude was good in Euroleague but bad in the NBA", especially since you acknowleged that the playstyles are fondamentaly different. Like why are you not talking about a player like Kemba Walker, who can barely find a way to score the ball in the Euroleague while being the best scorer ever of an NBA team ? Maybe the playstyles are way too different between the two leagues for a player to adapt to it in a limited amount of time ?
    Like, yea, I wont argue against the fact that the NBA is the best league talent-wise and obviously paying the best players 50 millions dollars a year help quite a bit in retaining the talent pool, but I really think you all should nuance a bit your Euroleague opinions. Like the salary argument is the main (and maybe only) argument for the best European players to go play in the NBA. The truth is that we're really one or two rich dudes caring about the Euroleague away for it to blow up in talent. Can you imagine what the Euroleague would look like if the best European players were actually staying in Europe ?
    Anyways, yes you all are better at your own sports than the rest of the world, congrats.

    Thanks for this. The eurobullshit has been going on long enough. Sure, they've got some great talent that they sent over to the NBA, but it's top heavy. After Jokic, Giannis, Doncic, there's a whole lot of nobodys filling up Euroleague rosters who'd be plumbers if they were American. Those are facts.

      Spanoulis is an absolute legend. Those Olympiakos teams that he led to championships were not very talented teams. Those teams were only contenders because of him. He also beat the Team USA with Lebron, Wade and many other stars in the 2006 World Cup.

    The 09/10 Lakers would mop the floor with any euro team ever created. Kobe alone is dropping 60. Just look at how he treated yall in the Olympics. No hate, just realism.

    Before time i watch few europeans smash your back to back "championships of the world" LA Lakers in Barcelona. And yes, Kobe, Lamar, Pau and all other stars was there. Same happen with Philadelphia 76ers and Dallas Mavericks. Next time when you speak about Euroleague MVPs like Sasha Vezenkov just shut up and clap.
