I have been watching your videos nonstop since I've started considering the army. This is the first time I've heard of phone use at all in basic training! I was under the assumption that any basic training in the military allowed any phone use in the military.
My two cents phones not allowed during working hours from time you wake up to when you get back to barracks. Then you should be allowed one hour on the phone, then turn em in till next day. Allows use but doesn't become a distraction. Weekends you should be allowed phone up to taps, only when your at the barracks provided there isn't a dip in unit getting through training. If there are issues obviously adjust hours of use. As its been said multiple times your there to train. Phone use is a morale thing. You want your soldiers to do their best reward them accordingly.
My grandsons just left less than a week ago for basic training. I miss him terribly. I haven’t even spoken to him since he arrived at the airport in Columbia South Carolina. It seems more like prison then going to support the country and serve. Don’t they people miss their families.
Just graduated at Fort Jackson on Nov 19th. Towards the tail end of Basic, there was a new rule that we had to have our phones for 2 hours after every single phase. I’ve also heard of some companies getting it every weekend for 30 mins to 2 hours. I was unfortunately apart of the last cycle who only got it here and there (6-7 times total throughout Basic) . Also, one of my Drill Sergeants said the cycles after us will be getting issued Pinks & Greens.
My husband just left off to basic training, following basic he will go to AIT. We have a baby on the way and it’s very hard for me. I want to know the best way to support him and be more comfortable.
is cell phone usage separate from phone call time? Like if they get 30 minutes of cell phone time, can trainees use that time to do whatever on their phones?
We wrote back and forth with my daughter. Snail mail. Keeps the imagination going. Basic training should be basic training. It’s not a holiday. Think back before cells were available. Pen 🖊 to paper 📄 it shouldn’t be hard to write. 2014 daughter have phone for all fazes only. She was good. She wrote us and we wrote back.
I was at Fort Leonardwood and I had basic training and AIT together and we only had them on Sundays for 30 minutes. We also had them all day when we had a pass but that’s all.
@@crystalponce8441 Yeah we used it however we wanted but we only got it on Sundays for 30 minutes. I’ll say the whole time I was there we only got it 4 times plus when you go on pass
Thing is alot of kids joining dont have a wife and kids. If you don't have that then you don't need your phone. If you've got a family then you should be given priority, just my opinion.
My boyfriend and I have a baby, he plans on enlisting. Is there a way we can get military housing (NY preferably) through reserves or just active duty?
Just graduated from osut tbh like you said phone bring up morale my drills tried to give it to us at least 1 or 2 a month but most the time we didnt we did get passes tho that was cool
Can I send my husband a phone during BCT? he doesn't have one to contact me and our son and he told me to send him one. He is shipping to bct tomorrow at Fort Jackson
@@TheBenAllen. It's okay I just need to send him one for in case of emergency and when he starts AIT lol. Thank you for responding right away I appreciate it!
Personally I think the only real reason to be able to use a phone during basic is if you're married and need to periodically check on your family and check to see how bills are being taken care of. Other than that, doesn't make sense to me.
@@TheBenAllen. also, currently in the hotel to go to MEPS tomorrow. Need to get a medical waiver only because I have ONE tiny metal screw in my knee from ACL reconstruction. But i should be solid

There is no reason anyone should have a cell phone in basic training. It's called discipline, which basically no longer exists in today's world.
