The trial for Chandler Halderson, accused of killing and dismembering his parents, resumes in Dane County. More information on the case: www.channel3000.com/halderson
@@heather_whatever if he had put half as much effort into school or a job, he'd be a successful adult. Keeping up with the lies is a lot of work! More work than getting up at 6 and going to work every day.
Listening to that phone call his father made was just painful! You could just feel the anguish in his father as he finally put it all together and realize that his son had deceived him so badly.
7:07 Detective Blank (in progress), testifies that the ip addresses on the emails that Chaz used to pretend to be people at the college match Chaz's home ip address. (four accounts: Daniel Spief, Allysa Brandt, Aaron Hoover, and Chandler Halderson) also testifies that he found Bart's cell phone hidden in a shoe in the home, with Bart's driver's license. (I swear, his name is Detective Blank.) 20:50 a stipulation about business records being true/accurate -- records from Madison College, Apple, Google, TD Bank, etc etc. (This is so that they don't have to drag in someone who works at each of these companies forever.) then a break for a bit 32:14 *Detective Sabrina Sims* again. (we rejoin in progress.) She's also here to talk about those four email accounts. She read basically all the emails from all four accounts, looking to prove/disprove his lies about his jobs and his college career, and whether/how much Bart knew about it. My favorite is when she goes ahead and pronounces "recourses" as it's spelled, not as it was intended (resources). I found this whole testimony a lot of fun. 1:24:39 James Langer commentary 1:47:30 *Lori Snapp* from American Family insurance. She testifies that Chandler Halderson never worked there, nor did "Tom Selznick." 1:49:52 *Detective Brian Shunt* again. Talking about Chandler's shoes v. shoeprint analysis, the tarps, and the Madison College records, showing he went there part time for a few semesters, last credits earned were spring 2019, and then he flunked out/withdrew. Also some testimony about the burner phone and Bart saying "Daniel sounds like Chaz." Also about Omar Jobe. 2:06:58 *Kate Jochimsen* from Madison College. She testifies that the fake people didn't work there (Alyssa Bran(d)t, Aaron Hoover, Daniel Spief). 2:09:00 another stipulation: Halderson has never been employed at SpaceX nor sought employment there. 2:10:15 *Stephen Farrer* from BDO, the company that Bart worked for. Testifies as to the time of day that the last emails were sent from Bart's laptop -- about 1pm. On cross, testifies that the laptop was password protected. The last log-in, which was password protected, was at 4pm central, and stayed active or so until 7pm central. We don't know whether Chandler knew the password, basically, but we do know that Bart kept a list of passwords on his desk. kind of a long bench conference, we come back with next witness 2:35:50 *Omar Jobe* , the famous Omar Jobe!! He's the one who Bart spoke to at Madison College and found out that Chandler wasn't enrolled. It's funny to put a face to the name. We get to hear the recording of the full phone call. When they pull away at about 2:40:00, they basically are having technical issues, and end up going to a longer break, so you may want to skip to either James' commentary or back to the trial. 2:45:59 James Langer commentary 2:53:40 we come back in progress, but it's at the beginning of the call and some of it is stuff we already heard. This time we don't look at the transcript of the conversation while they talk. 3:11:09 James Langer commentary again 4:40:25 James Langer commentary -- pretty interesting because he summarizes what has been happening off camera. 4:46:00 *Brian Shunt* back on the stand. We get some of Bart's google searches, he's looking for Madison College contact info, and then a staff directory. It helps support that Bart is the one who made that phone call. Also an instant message from Bart to Chandler that reads, "I'm ready whenever you are." 4:55:12 *Stacey Sadoff* digital forensics examiner from the Wisconsin Dept of Justice. She does digital downloads from phones. Then another break starting at about 5:08:00 because there's something going on in court. 5:17:16 James Langer comes on to explain what was going on in court. 5:20:20 *Sabrina Sims* again, to testify that she downloaded some cell phone messages between Krysta and Chandler. 5:30:45 *Courtney Ripp* criminal analyst from the Wisconsin Dept of Justice. She found some notes on Chandler's cloud, including the "H202 lemon" note from the opening statement. She also tracked the location data on various cell phones. 7:02:08 James Langer's wrap up
His dad obviously knew what Chandler was telling him wasn't adding up, but wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt so badly. Chandler had such patient and understanding parents and this is how he repaid them :( heartbreaking
@@m_christine1070 I know right, I mean Chandler had an appointment to get his colostomy bag inserted and he also had back to back emergency dives with the dive team, and I am pretty sure being grounded by his mom didn’t help. Poor Chandler if only he hadn’t lost his temper and murder his parents.
Chandler really had a wonderful life. I remember when this court case happened, I was looking back on summer of 2021 and my life was so awful then, but Chandler has an amazing family, great friends, and a wonderful girlfriend who loved him no matter what.
It's important to keep in mind that she coddled him and was likely enmeshed. So what might come across as "loving" was actually babying him. He is a 23 year old adult, yet checked in on him all throughout the day, which says a lot. She never held him accountable in his life and unfortunately paid the price for it.
These parents, particularly the mother, truly loved their son. The text messages are so kind and loving. She said him waving to her made her day? There are so many kids in this world that could only dream of having loving parents like this.
Even the last text that was from her when he was buying time was a smile and his father was already dead and she was on her way to her...How could he do this to her I don't even think she had a clue about the dad was confronting him that day a the college 💔
If this dude would have put as much effort into actually completing his classes and getting a real job as he did faking this entire thing his parents would still be alive and he'd have a good life. What a twisted and sad excuse of a human being.
The back and forth in those emails would trigger a thousand red flags for me. No one has that much trouble getting a meeting unless someone is avoiding the meeting. Lol
I can't even imagine what it would feel like to be the subject of a murdered man's penultimate text, a man you don't even know. Not saying he'd feel responsible or anything like that, it would just be kind of a chilling realisation to be perhaps the last person he talked to (other than his murderer) before being killed.
Chandler sits there continually writing. It’s ironic, because if he put so much time into studying instead of all these lies and deception, he would have finished his Degree.
@@courtneybauman4816 Yeah. Reminds me of Jeff Dahmer's trial. He didn't wear his glasses during the trial because he didn't want to see anything or anyone. A way to disconnect. Chandler seems like he has zero thoughts happening inside his broken brain.
I’ve watched the whole thing so far.. and I do feel guilty for being so interested in the way the police put it all together as well as the lawyers. I wish I could apologise to the parents, which may sound weird but, man, I feel so so so so bad for how their time on this earth ended. The Dad’s home reno tshirt, the loving texts… if my own parents had been that loving I can’t even imagine how happy I’d be… I hope the moment of shock at what their son had done to them was extremely brief. God I am so sorry to these parents… 😔
I would love to know Chandler's explanation, and also the point of view from a Psychology expert. I just can't imagine how no one saw this coming. Was he always like this? or suddenly one day he started lying and saw how everybody believed his stories so he just decided he would live on lies. It's so incomprehensible.
I feel the same. I'm sure Bart didn't suffer, with the 3 deadly shots to his back, and he may not even have exposed Chandler's lies to his face. Same with the mom. You don't expect this ever from your loved one so there's probably no time to realize what's happening. Small mercy that he used a gun :/ Poor Mitchell, he's got to live with the full realization. And Cat and her family :(
@@dryadicflench5008 It seems extremely likely that Chandler developed into a narcissist as he was never held accountable for anything. He was babied and coddled by his mother and they constantly bailed him out of everything. His mother treated him like a child and refused to believe he could do anything wrong. Would you know if your child was attending college and working multiple jobs while living at home? I'm sorry they lost their lives the way they did, as they paid the ultimate price for their dysfunctional parenting.
The brother turned out fine tho. I believe they treated them the same way... Pure narcissism and psychopathy is what this is all about. I just saw the sentencing hearing... he finally speaks, not to apologize tho. No remorse at all. I think he'll enjoy his life in prison. He can at least be himself.
@@VioletJoy the one thing that really helped Chandler get away with all the lies about school and work was Covid. Everyone abruptly started working from home, schools shut down, everything became remote. I think that Covid was just what Chandler needed to help him do NOTHING. For 2 years he was able to hide behind Covid….no school, telling his parents that the school was still shut down, they had no staff, he lied about the internship being online, his Space X job being online…..he used Covid to his benefit….and finally his Father made that final phone call.
To think all this could have been avoided if he had just fessed up. Yeah I’m sure his parents would’ve been pissed, but to resort to killing and dismembering their bodies to hide all this, is unreal!
To those asking why didn't the dad just go to the school/order the transcripts himself...remember his son is an adult. Schools don't just give out your academic info, even to your parents. The STUDENT has to do it.
True. My boyfriend got a bill from the school about his son and when he called to discuss the bill, they said they needed the sons permission to talk to him. Ridiculousness!
Funny though- parents are largely footing the bill for schools so if the bill is late the schools are quick to be knocking at the parents door asking for the money.
Chandlers messages to his mom and girlfriend never include a the words please or thank you. And when his mom told him she loved him, he didn't say " I love you too". So sad
Right, I hated how he just told his mom to get him soda after her long day of work instead of asking nicely. I mean since he had just killed her husband and was about to kill her, it obviously doesn’t matter, but I just feel bad that he probably talked to her like that all the time even though she left him nice notes and sent him sweet texts and emojis and kept telling him she loved him. 😔 Poor lady.
@@lisainthelab and it was quite telling. He treated his mom as his servant, yet shittalked her to his girlfriend's mother. He's a deplorable cockroach
Even the emails are so low effort. Human Recourses Manager? All the typos. Starting a sentence with lowercase letters. Leaving out apostrophes. All half-assed. Like all of Chandler's life, really. Also, these emails are so embarrassing and I didn't even write them. I cannot imagine sitting in the room while a detective reads all my lies out loud. Oof.
Can you imagine the astronomical amount of money spent on all the resources required to put this case together!?!? Divers, forensic professionals, police and law enforcement from numerous jurisdictions. Can't imagine what the defense is planning. And Wisconsin is a state where there is no death penalty for capital murder which means more taxpayer money spent to house him in a correctional facility for the rest of his natural life. Considering his young age that could be 60 years or more. Justice for Bart and Krista must prevail.
The sad thing is, he’ll probably enjoy jail. Won’t have to work, cook, clean, go to school, no responsibilities, etc. Probably sounds like paradise to him.
@@Alina-ci3fb most states require able-bodied prisoners to work while in prison. I don't think they are going to fall for the story of him falling down the steps and having a concussion and numbness in his legs. So I'm quite certain young Chandler will not enjoy his time there. Besides I think Chandler wants to do what he wants to do when he wants to do it... Which was part of his problem. The warden and correctional officers will be a little bit more strict on him than Bart was.
Sentencing someone to death is WAY more expensive than life in prison. A death sentence trial takes longer, more work to make sure things are done right, and the person sentenced automatically gets a set number of appeals, which slows it all down a lot more.
All these emails from fake accounts on which you will have to log in and out: this is so crazy!!! This must be more stressful than finding a job and attending a job interview. Plus all this work is FOR FREE, instead of being paid at a real administrative job.
I thought the same thing regarding standing up. There has to be deep depression and/or a chemical imbalance. He is too much of a zombie. I would vote death within 365 days but I do feel for a broken human being. Think about it. Had the father been dialed in to his son years ago, he may have said enuf, you are getting help or your out. Bart did not walk on water.
Wonder if he passed up a plea deal. Definitely should have went with it if it was offered. So much evidence against him and his defense isn’t putting up a very good fight.
@@mas5867 all bart had to do was learn a little about solar energy and have conversation with chandler about it. im sure chandler cannot BS his way out of a conversation about something technical like that. and didnt he ever want to see his grades or anything like that? no disrespect to bart but it seems like he had his head in the clouds too.
His poor father.. i cant begin to imagine the growing sense of utter betrayal and confusion he must have felt as he began to realize this was much more than having been told a few fibs ... that his son had gone to an extra ordinary pathological degree of lies, for well over a year. He had been led to believe it had taken over a year of appointments being cancelled, being put on wait lists to meet with someone to get a copy of his academic script... when in reality all he had to do was have paid some money and printed it offline or simply turned up at a desk and get given it then and there. Bart doesn't even sound angry - he just sounds unbelievably sad, no doubt with a massive sense of betrayal 😥😥😥
@@tammybushnell6920 i hope so too and his mom, but i don't think Chandler cared , once he made the decision he was worried about himself only, about not getting caught and getting away with murder
He was shot in the back three times so I don't think he saw him point the gun but I'm sure he knew who did it in the last moments of his life. He was likely lured to the basement.
Those emails are super cringy, they look like scammer emails. So sad that his parents were trying to help him and being there for him... and he completely dishonored them... Rest in Peace Mr. and Mrs. Halderson.
I LIKE THE WAY THEY ARE CONDUCTING THIS TRIAL...SO EASY TO WATCH...STARTING WITH THE JUDGE,....AND EVERYONE INVOLVED WITH THIS TRIAL.... THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! CH
No defense , no objecting at all in one sense it's nice but at the same togan it's disturbing the defense didn't find anything at all objectionable ? I'd rather see an aggressive defense and feel confident of that person's guilt or innocence . If you are convicted fairly then you should have no doubt about that person's guilt or innocence or expectation on an appeal.
The strangest testimony in this case was Chandler's friend since childhood. He testified that one time, Chandler came home from one of his "police scuba team" days and he brought home a giant, pink sex toy from one of his dives. Ummm, if that was all fake, where the hell did he get that?? And WHY did he bring that home?? That's downright creepy.
@@amyc9155 It goes with her pink cowboy hat. Shal I bring Jesus, yes, Please “Will you leave me even if it doesn’t work? Worded bad but you understand” “ we set for this we just need ice” .
I had a huge knot in my stomach listening to his father on the phone. Just knowing that everything was falling apart & that shortly he would be viciously murdered.
I wonder if the defense ever pulled him to the side and suggest saying “Your honor, I’m sorry for prolonging this case. I’m guilty.” I’m astounded that this case went on more than two days. So much evidence.
Just watching this now, but when the camera pans on Chandler, he appears to be so bored. I keep thinking, why not just say he's guilty! Really irritating.
How did he see this playing out... It's so pointless. He'd have done better to spend all this time that he spent making fake emails making fake transcripts instead- or -radical idea- actually doing the work...jeez This breaks my heart for Mitchell, Cat, and their families. I literally can't imagine how horrible this must be for them to listen to.
I thought the same thing! If he would have put half of the effort he put into concocting such a farce of a life, into actually doing something with his life, he could have done amazing things. 😳
@@extremelevine But clearly hadn't thought how he'd claim on the insurance or process their wills without proof of their deaths. It can take years to go through the courts, you can't just go to the bank and say "It's all mine now !". They'd have to be declared Dead by the Courts. Without bodies.
This whole case is so insane and soooo heartbreaking. It really seems like he went out of his way to leave evidence in places that would possibly link the closest people in his life to these brutal murders. From Cat’s mom’s swiffer; dumping the bodies and hiding the gun on Cresa’s farm; leaving the target bag (that had his girlfriends name on it) full of bloody paper towels in front of the trash bin at the farm; and using his gaming friends gun and ammo for the crime. I’m not a psychologist but I would guess he has antisocial personality disorder. This whole case is so disturbing and heartbreaking that I can’t wrap my head around it. Everyone in his life seems loving and to truly care about his well being.
"hi dad, here is tom sellsnick from his work. chandler informed me, you have not upgraded his tarkov account that includes the new drum magazine for the x19 flamethrower. this is unacceptable, please resolve this issue asap, have a nice day aaron brant"
Poor Omar Jobe, the customer service agent for Madison College. What was just one of many phone calls in his life turned out to be the first domino in a couple’s murder and dismemberment. A forgettable call for him, with yet another person who would not understand that they needed to pay what they owed and then they could get whatever they wanted! You could almost hear the rust coming off of Bart’s mental gears, particularly when he went down the list of names of supposed people who worked at the college that he’d been interacting with for months. I’m sure the insurance company received a similar call to Madison College. More than a year of being lied to, sponged off of for a place to stay, financially taken advantage of…by your own son…were probably about to drive him crazy. Bart seemed tenacious. By the time he’d put that calendar entry in to meet with Chandler, he likely had checked through every single thing Chandler had told them for the past year and knew it was all a lie.
I wish he had told Krista as soon as he’d figured it out; maybe she wouldn’t have bought soda and gone home. But she wouldn’t have imagined her own baby boy would harm her or daddy.
Omar Jobe probably considers himself an Ordinary Joe, an Ordinary Jobe if you will. Must be utterly bizarre to see your name in such an ominous text message, the last someone sends out, unwittingly signing their own death certificate.
I know . How wild it must be for Omar now. Probably is gonna consider lieing next time he gets a call like that, in order to avoid getting anyone killed.
The prosecutor has done a great job but he screwed the pooch regarding Omar the 1st day. Called him a lowly customer rep or something equivalent. A real blunder.
And one of the most infamous enablers in history. Mom, can you stop and get me a soda. I bet she protected Chandler from Bart and Bart finally just had enuf.
It’s so sad. I mean it’s true she was an enabler but she was his mom, and all moms can definitely admit to some enabling behaviors with their kids at some point. I honestly think mom must have been collateral damage. He probably didn’t want to have to kill her but at that point he thought he had no choice
As someone that works in payroll and HR, the fake emails he created from the “Human Recourses Manager” were hilarious. Paycheck mistakes are always corrected immediately not only for legal reasons but also for government reporting/taxes. I’m surprised his father believed these emails considering he worked with finances/taxes.
I didn't want to bring this up but since you do, I wholeheartedly agree. As an accountant I'm used to pay attention to details, dates, emails, signatures...so the gmail addys and spelling alone would have been enough to take a closer look. Bart was a senior manager at a global firm.
I think he knew but didn't want to believe it and finally had enough of the bs and looked into to to have proof how sad it had him killed but his own son...his free ride was over
@@shivaniayers7086 who would believe that their child was lying about working and being paid. He left everyday or worked from home and even discussed his work!! Yes, Bart should have known. I bet if a co-worker/friend discussed the same exact situation happening to THEIR son, Bart would KNOW that a company has to pay you timely in the USA.
Yes the parents really were trying to help him better himself his mother's I love and emojis showed her love for him and he murderer, cut up burnt and just threw her away like trash what a monster. His dad was done and his free ride was over and this monster shot cut up burnt and threw him away like trash. @@Megan-mr8ue thank you, I found it at about 4:50. Poor man, and think that in just few minutes his son was going to kill him. What in the name of God, got into him 😔
I've been waiting each day in Australia, as we live in the future, roughly 15 hrs ahead of America to watch this unfold from the opening statement. This Chandler Halderson is totally busted in every which way he turns. However, feeling for everyone who he has impacted, hurt throughout this heinous crime. The more I watch, the more my mind boggles..
Same...I can't wrap my head around the need to kill to get out of lies he told over a long period of time.. found it odd that parents are messaging their son instead of going to his room and talking to him in person..I grew up without technology...but I don't get the impersonal way people talk to their kids these days...this would not have worked at my house with my parents...!!! Something very wrong with this boy... He shows absolutely no emotion when hearing his dad's voice...very sad and disturbing!
@@mas5867 totally agree.. wondering what the defense will say in their closing?? ... Too much evidence against him.. I think he thought he was going to get away with it..It appears that he thinks he is so much smarter than everyone else...the shock on his face when they arrested him was priceless...
The bit about him getting burner phone and talking to his dad as a college administrator is even crazier. His dad's email telling his mom how much the man sounded like chandler was over the top
This monster is one the most inept murderers in recent history. I mean even if you hadn’t watched a CSI since 2006, you’d know about luminal and cell towers. Maybe if he had ever held a job he would have known what a vacation request is.
Yeah + or even that his uncle , Barts brother and the guy across the street was a retired detective with tons of cameras an his uncle was some retired diver with an authority company
he worked so hard that Thursday night, what with all the shooting, chopping, burning and cleaning. And then it didn't work! Self cringe and huff for sure.
I’ve noticed that too and it almost feel like the defense is mad at him for taking this to trial. They’re is nothing for them to argued in the evidence but they can at least make pretend just like their client did 🥴🥴🥴
Bart H's last recorded phone call is heartbreaking to listen to. Chandler, though, is sitting there drawing /wrighting (what ever he's SO buisy wrighting??) showing no emotion at all. That piece of..... is cold as ice!
The comments from the live stream talking about Omar being slow. When you can clearly tell he is thinking to himself why would a student be having so much difficulty get this stuff when it is readily available to every student. He's not thinking the person he not a student right off the rip .
Because of having the gun? Maybe. He obviously bought it. No one would give that as a gift and travel so far just to give it personally. But a deranged psychopath would not necessarily think it through that far. They live in the moment and become very outraged when confronted. I'm really curious to see if the Defense has anything.
@@TheOneanjel his friend that gave him that gun as a gift is not playing with a full deck of cards. His entitlement was off the charts. No wonder he was forced out of the service.
I don't think it was planned. If it was, there would have been better planning. Because the overwhelming amount of evidence points to panic and mistakes alllll over
I DO NOT understand why he would want a trial. So much evidence against him. He's gotten by with lying so long and to so many people, I guess he thinks he's a master at it. He should do himself and everyone else a favor and plead guilty. If they offered a deal he should have taken it. Unbelievable!
At any time in the trial he can shut this down and plead guilty. I'm sure the prosecution refused to offer him life w/ a possibility of parole, so he rolled the dice that the judge would give it to him.
There is such an overload of emails to schedule (or schedual ) an unnecessary meeting. The original problem is to get the solar energy certificate and overall degree. You don't need a meeting for that.
I've watched this case from start, and my heart breaks for the parents...They absolutely loved their boys...and the one betrayed them so badly 😢 he has shown 0% of emotion all through this trial, not even a flicker when they showed the picture of his father's dismembered body...how can he be so cold and narcissistic...my gosh they created this child...and that's what they got from him... RIP Bart and Krista heavens very special angels.
Why did this happen? Was it avoidable? Those are the questions I don't see any defense addressing he will be convicted but a defense should be to explain how.
I just looked up how long would it take to earn a certificate in solar energy and it says anywhere from 5 wks to a few months so even if he lied about school he still had enough time to just enroll somewhere else and get the class done as for space X they have allot of jobs that have on the job training so you see he ruined his whole family for nothing that is what makes it even more sad🤦🏼♀🤦🏼♀🤦🏼♀
People keep saying that, but it's hard to believe that the state was willing to make any kind of deal with him. Trial is the better choice bc something crazy might happen. He has a very small chance.
@@markpuestohl yeah but how can he think that he can even get better than just pleading out. It’s crazy the amount of evidence they have on him. Ps. Always close ya blinds! Lol
@@Kelsey0652 Idk, maybe a major witness for the state will mess up, and he'll be acquitted? Not likely, but there's a very small chance. If he pleads guilty, he's guaranteed to get life.
Honestly the case the prosecution have put together so far has been exceptional! The prosecutors the detectives police deputies the witnesses the forensics Just everything is outstanding!
Not really that spectacular, maybe i have too high of a standard for tax payer earning police force, but this guy was so sloppy on his coverups that evidence was everywhere.
He would have been better off leaving his phone at home and driving his parents phones both on up to the cottage and texting himself from them. How did he not think that a) they weren’t going to check the pings and b) turn his house upside down looking for evidence
He put so much effort into not working. Like seriously it would have been easier to just get a job. Edit: God I hope no one ever looks through my search history, there is no way I could explain it.
Seeing all the evidence - texts, emails, photos, etc., I can't help but wonder what the hell this kid thought was going to happen...? How did he really see his life of nothing but lies playing out....?!?!? Even if he managed to pull off his parents disappearance, he still had all the lies with Cat and her family, Mitch and his fiancee..... Truly psychotic.
This is the absolute worst defense attorney I've EVER seen! Obviously Chandler is a monster but she could at least try?? Her opening statement was all about her. Wow just horrible
I have came back to watch this trial for 3 days in a row am I the only person sick enough to keep listening to the fake emails I often wonder what Chandler is thinking when he hears his lies out loud🧐
@@sabrinalennox2004 yes, you are right. Looking for some humanity in what happened. I can understand the lying and the fear of disappointing his dad. But shooting him to prevent that? And then another murder?? And then messing with the bodies??? It's indeed unbelievable. A big gap between him and other humans.
The biggest problem for the defense is sticking to "he is innocent and didn't do it", had they gone with he did it but there circumstances and history that you do not know about would have been a lot smarter. Because they stuck to their guns with "he didn't do it", they have no defense to the mountain of evidence, and the prosecution do not have persuade the jury that it wasn't justified, or jump into Chandler's mental state at the time, or even motive. All they have to prove is that he did it. He would have gotten a much lighter sentence if they had admitted the crime and came up with extenuating circumstances couple with a mental snap, and an inablility to handle pressure, and verbal abuse and restrictions by the parents - even if untrue it would have been a better defense.
@@GodsTribe Probably the same as he "felt" when cutting them up. Dont make the mistake of thinking people like this would have the same reaction to anything that you would.
Nope they’re all here. After Day 8 it goes right to closing arguments, the next video. It was very strange, the trial ended earlier than expected and abruptly. After day 8, we were all tuned in for day 9, and suddenly it came on and they said the state rested their case and then the defense didn’t put on a case. They just did the closing arguments. Then a few hours later came the verdict, which is the next video after the closing arguments.
Is his defence going to try and cast suspicion on Mitchell? There was a hint of that today. It seems madness that this has gone to trial. Don’t get me wrong, I thoroughly appreciate it, I can’t look away!
So many half-hearted attempts by the defense at catching the prosecution out. I think they realize that the case against Halderson is too overwhelming.
They only seem to argue about things they can't win. They got away with questions that were not relevant but failed to ask others that most reasonable people would have asked.
Watching this case long after the end result. It's so fascinating how the prosecution team assembled their case of evidence, witnesses, and the timeline. Evidence pointed to defenant in the 1st few days of the trial. The defense attys didn't do much for their client, asked very few questions in cross examination might have done better to take a plea. No way he would get away with this. So sad for the family.

I really like the lead detective who keeps coming back. He and his partner conducted an excellent investigation. It is difficult to see why Chandler would want a trial that would expose his incompetence, callousness and stupidity. All she does is repeat what the prosecutor asked or otherwise meaningless questions like how many people use the password 1111.
I’m surprised no one mentioned this , even the prosecutors. They mentioned how he got the spelling of resources wrong as “recourses”. But no one talks about how he got the spelling of the word schedule wrong , spelling it as “schedual” , that too in the subject line ! Check it out at 1:17:46.
This was the Coup de grace today, just buried under a mountain of evidence. The defense's questions while cross-examining Courtney Ripp were ridiculous. First that futile attempt trying to sow doubt by pointing out that this data showed the movements of the phones and not the owners. And bringing up Mitchell. Then she asked if a google search result necessarily meant that the person searching clicked on potential results, just nuts. And with him actually clicking on the Peter Kupaza case it backfired! Some thoughts: It was interesting to learn his last movements before he went to police. The night of july 6th he drove at 4.30 am to downtown Madison and stayed roughly an hour. I'd wondered before what he'd done around that time. Maybe he just couldn't sleep and drove around. Then on july 7th he drove again to Cres farm in the morning, stayed half an hour, returned home and shortly after went to police to report them missing. I assume he went to check if remains were undisturbed. Strange that Cres, her gf or father didn't notice him. Or maybe he deposited the weapon there. His google searches show his mindset after he'd reported them missing. He watched some "Escape from Tarkov" game vids, then searched for dismembered bodies found within a few minutes intervals and inbetween searched for game articles again. He went back and forth between looking up game stuff and searching for news articles about dead bodies.
its not like they can do anything that will work though lol. I'm just grateful the defense attorneys HAVEN'T challenged every minor detail - that would piss the jury off big time, seen to be nit picking. Good on them for trying SOME thing though.
He seems not in touch with the real world at all. I’m not an expert, but just watching or reading true crime, law enforcement always checks cameras, phones, and PC’s. He made this the simplest case for them.
It really isn't odd at all that Cres or her father didn't see Chandler at the farm in the early morning. Her girlfriend, Dulce.. doesn't live there, so she probably wasn't there. Cres's father is 90+ years old and immoble.. I seriously doubt he was up looking out the window at the precise right time and he definitely wasn't out strolling the property as he is incapable of doing so. From the house you can't see the drive very well if at all, so if you drive past the house Noone would know you were up by the shed.
Not only that, but the defense side object(s) to inane points and doesn't object to more pertinent & serious points. Is she really inexperienced? What about the older def attorney? Why isn't she objecting?
Parents loving is not enabling. Teach your children to responsible from early age (I know this government teaches the opposite, just get and get and you do not need to be responsible for your life), you can still love them and asking them to be responsible at the same time. Treating a 23 years old lazy person as a child is wrong it won’t push him to grow and be responsible.
I actually knew someone who had a great job, super pay, benefits etc. He was married, two kids, big house, private schools, nice cars ....on and on. (I swear, his name is Detective Blank.)
20:50 a stipulation about business records being true/accurate -- records from Madison College, Apple, Google, TD Bank, etc etc. (This is so that they don't have to drag in someone who works at each of these companies forever.) then a break for a bit
32:14 *Detective Sabrina Sims* again.

1:47:30 *Lori Snapp* from American Family insurance. She testifies that Chandler Halderson never worked there, nor did "Tom Selznick."
1:49:52 *Detective Brian Shunt* again.
We don't know whether Chandler knew the password, basically, but we do know that Bart kept a list of passwords on his desk. kind of a long bench conference, we come back with next witness
2:35:50 *Omar Jobe* , the famous Omar Jobe!!

4:40:25 James Langer commentary -- pretty interesting because he summarizes what has been happening off camera.
4:46:00 *Brian Shunt* back on the stand. We get some of Bart's google searches, he's looking for Madison College contact info, and then a staff directory. It helps support that Bart is the one who made that phone call. Also an instant message from Bart to Chandler that reads, "I'm ready whenever you are."
4:55:12 *Stacey Sadoff* digital forensics examiner from the Wisconsin Dept of Justice. She does digital downloads from phones. Then another break starting at about 5:08:00 because there's something going on in court.

Those loving texts from Krista to her son are just heartbreaking. And makes Chandler an even bigger monster, if that’s even possible.
It's important to keep in mind that she coddled him and was likely enmeshed. So what might come across as "loving" was actually babying him. Angry at first and then he got body blow of body blow of *all the lies* he’d been told how much his son lied
The prosecution has put together a very well staged case effectively spelling out each piece of the case. The judge is the utmost professional.
Chandler sits there continually writing. It’s ironic, because if he put so much time into studying instead of all these lies and deception, he would have finished his Degree.

Same here… very interesting trial
Same...I can't wrap my head around the need to kill to get out of lies he told over a long period of time.. found it odd that parents are messaging their son instead of going to his room and talking to him in person..I grew up without technology...but I don't get the impersonal way people talk to their kids these days...this would not have worked at my house with my parents...!!! Something very wrong with this boy... He shows absolutely no emotion when hearing his dad's voice...very sad and disturbing!

the emails are so nuts omg
The bit about him getting burner phone and talking to his dad as a college administrator is even crazier. His dad's email telling his mom how much the man sounded like chandler was over the top
The lengths he went with his pathological lying. It’s crazy. The emails omg.
This monster is one the most inept murderers in recent history. I mean even if you hadn’t watched a CSI since 2006, you’d know about luminal and cell towers. Maybe if he had ever held a job he would have known what a vacation request is.
LOL right ? or what a security camera is, or cell phone tracking or computer forensics.
Yeah + or even that his uncle , Barts brother and the guy across the street was a retired detective with tons of cameras an his uncle was some retired diver with an authority company
Defense.. “so you’re saying that you can’t prove weather or not the defendant ate a hotdog after 4pm?”
“That’s Correct?”
“No further questions.”
😂😂
Omg this comment 🤣
That poor Father realizing his Son has been lying to them. I can just hear his disappointment:(
These emails and lies are exhausting.
The closing arguments are going to be epic!
defense council: No thank you! We know he's a liar.
Chazzel thought he was so much more Intelligent than anyone else. He must be sat there cringing as much as everyone else at his horrendous lies.
he worked so hard that Thursday night, what with all the shooting, chopping, burning and cleaning. And then it didn't work! Self cringe and huff for sure.
When she says "no thank you".... did they offer her a snack or something? Like what is going on with that defense
It’s obvious that person isn’t good at its job.
he mumbles and acts anooyed to be helping someone, very unprofessional
It's terrifying that this may have been planned or envisaged one or two years ago. He was literally just waiting for his deception to be uncovered.
I wanted to express the same thought but you said it perfectly, if this was my channel I'd have your comment pinned
I don't think it was planned. If it was, there would have been better planning. Because the overwhelming amount of evidence points to panic and mistakes alllll over
@@rachela4071 well, planned in his shambolic, narcissistic way anyway!
I DO NOT understand why he would want a trial. So much evidence against him. He's gotten by with lying so long and to so many people, I guess he thinks he's a master at it. He should do himself and everyone else a favor and plead guilty. If they offered a deal he should have taken it. Unbelievable!
I bet he's having second thoughts now that he's sitting there listening to this mountain.
@@lizgander9172 He knew the case against him bc of discovery/ His selfishness knows no bounds/
At any time in the trial he can shut this down and plead guilty. I'm sure the prosecution refused to offer him life w/ a possibility of parole, so he rolled the dice that the judge would give it to him.
@@susangowin8763 that’s exactly why. Prosecution had everything they needed and no reason to offer anything.
There is such an overload of emails to schedule (or schedual ) an unnecessary meeting. The original problem is to get the solar energy certificate and overall degree. You don't need a meeting for that.
Imagine waking up being this guys defense lawyer…. Talk about fighting a losing battle..
Imagine waking up as his girlfriend
I've watched this case from start, and my heart breaks for the parents...They absolutely loved their boys...and the one betrayed them so badly 😢 he has shown 0% of emotion all through this trial, not even a flicker when they showed the picture of his father's dismembered body...how can he be so cold and narcissistic...my gosh they created this child...and that's what they got from him...
RIP Bart and Krista heavens very special angels.
Toxic gene pool
Why did this happen? Was it avoidable? Those are the questions I don't see any defense addressing he will be convicted but a defense should be to explain how.
I just looked up how long would it take to earn a certificate in solar energy and it says anywhere from 5 wks to a few months so even if he lied about school he still had enough time to just enroll somewhere else and get the class done as for space X they have allot of jobs that have on the job training so you see he ruined his whole family for nothing that is what makes it even more sad🤦🏼♀🤦🏼♀🤦🏼♀
I can’t believe this even went to trial
People keep saying that, but it's hard to believe that the state was willing to make any kind of deal with him. Trial is the better choice bc something crazy might happen. He has a very small chance.
@@markpuestohl yeah but how can he think that he can even get better than just pleading out. It’s crazy the amount of evidence they have on him. Ps. Always close ya blinds! Lol

I think he gets pleasure out of duping people
Seeing all the evidence - texts, emails, photos, etc., I can't help but wonder what the hell this kid thought was going to happen...?
How did he really see his life of nothing but lies playing out....?!?!?
Even if he managed to pull off his parents disappearance, he still had all the lies with Cat and her family, Mitch and his fiancee.....
Truly psychotic.
He really lacks the ability to think about the consequences if you notice it's the story of his life.
This is the absolute worst defense attorney I've EVER seen! Obviously Chandler is a monster but she could at least try?? Her opening statement was all about her. Wow just horrible
Agree completely 💯
And don’t forget the way she so obnoxiously screwed and unscrewed her metal water bottle in the middle of dialogue
It’s really laughable how every time the camera shifts to him, he is just doodling that pen to what looks like, no actual paper
I have came back to watch this trial for 3 days in a row am I the only person sick enough to keep listening to the fake emails I often wonder what Chandler is thinking when he hears his lies out loud🧐
I'm re watching as well. I don't think it's sick, I think people re watch because it's just so unbelievable
All this work with the emails back and forth! Surely it would have been less work to actually get a FT job or go to school
Chandler had to hear his father’s voice one more time.....
I wondered how it made him feel.

Wait! Is this the last day that's uploaded? I'm so invested but can't find past day 8.. Noooo 😩
Well defense team if you have contradicting information on phone records ..please present them

And definitely bury the bodies.
big huge facts on that one
He must be bored out of his mind the poor fella, he sitting more hours in the courtroom than he did in college.
I’m surprised no one mentioned this , even the prosecutors. They mentioned how he got the spelling of resources wrong as “recourses”. But no one talks about how he got the spelling of the word schedule wrong , spelling it as “schedual” , that too in the subject line ! Check it out at 1:17:46.
good find
This was the Coup de grace today, just buried under a mountain of evidence. The defense's questions while cross-examining Courtney Ripp were ridiculous. First that futile attempt trying to sow doubt by pointing out that this data showed the movements of the phones and not the owners. And bringing up Mitchell. Then she asked if a google search result necessarily meant that the person searching clicked on potential results, just nuts. And with him actually clicking on the Peter Kupaza case it backfired!
Some thoughts:
It was interesting to learn his last movements before he went to police.
Watching her now
Not only that, but the defense side object(s) to inane points and doesn't object to more pertinent & serious points. Is she really inexperienced? What about the older def attorney? Why isn't she objecting?
sad the dad was catching on, but isnt here to hear all of this evidance
Parents loving is not enabling. Teach your children to responsible from early age (I know this government teaches the opposite, just get and get and you do not need to be responsible for your life), you can still love them and asking them to be responsible at the same time. Treating a 23 years old lazy person as a child is wrong it won’t push him to grow and be responsible.
The detective reading those spelling mistakes was downright savage
I actually knew someone who had a great job, super pay, benefits etc. He was married, two kids, big house, private schools, nice cars ....on and on. After more than ten years on the job, they discovered he falsified all education, certs etc! He was fired on the spot..lost everything! He was a disgrace and disgraced but..he didn't kill anyone! 🤷
