I still have a Gen 1 on the Tv In the conservatory. Just spent a couple of hours updating it and now working ok. Got Fire TV in lounge and Gen 2 and 4 in the bedrooms!
Friend of mine bought a 1st gen firestick and never used it, gave it to me to set up for him, having to go through every update one by one was a real pain. Why can't they make it that it goes straight to the latest update. Son has original fire box, still the best
My 2nd gen has just stopped working and can't get it to load even with all your tips and tricks but got my moneys worth out of it. My 4k max and 2nd gen 4k max work great. I also after watching your video bought the android box hd96 but bought the 64gig one. It feels a bit frail when you first have it but once you've sussed it out it works fantastically well and great to have the built-in mouse toggle. A great alternative. Thanks for recommending. I'm in Madeira Island Portugal
Agree the stick is slow but keep the remote if your a hater of new remote....Has another ever accidentally hit Netflix or Disney.....i run a gen1 remote on my fire cube and love it....sometimes simply is better....p.s great video.....

I got a fire tv box issued in 2015.. Still works well, but can't install some new apps.. 😊
Still use mine. Bought the latest 4k max in the sale, but very jerky. Tried every suggestion, but put it back in the box.

@DocSquiffy their was a downloader update the other day also which allows files to be stored to external drives 🤔

Use firestick max now , got rid of lites as started running slow and hard work waiting for to catch up

Mine won't connect to the net so flipping randomly, but when it dies, it works fine.
Never one of those but had the first fire TV box that died on me about two years ago.
Still got mine, use it as my travel one

Fire sticks are not expensive, just upgrade and make everything easier. I’m trying to make my 1st gen work but it’s terrible.
I used my 2nd gen for so long it’s almost slow as my 1st gen😅
Got rid of it long ago. The remote works on FTV 4K Max Gen 2
