Great video... I would add "not flossing" to this list. (As well as neglecting any other preventive oral health habit). My best friend lives in Sao Paolo .... We're both in our late '60s, known each other forever. This is a person who bikes everywhere, goes wild swimming regularly she doesn't work out per se but is amazingly healthy .. recently developed cervical spinal issues; her doctors were going on about spinal fusion. No no no! She began with acupuncture and is using lazer red light regularly .... problem gone. I had a hip fracture tripping over my dog a few months ago and frankly a lot of well meaning physio therapists aren't thoroughly qualified. On her recommendation have been doing the same thing and feel better than pre surgery, I also swim, my family used to have a house in Istria so throughout my life access to the ocean was huge and hiking with my dog keeps us out about an 1 hour and a half during the course of the day. The effect on sleep/circadian rhythm is huge. Actually this is, to me the best post Thomas has put out, been sending it out to my friends. My family never ate processed foods and for ethical reasons I eschew meat, although wild caught fairly small fish is fine; (my Dad was a fisherman as was my late husband) I am lucky as I live close to a Mennonite community and get raw goat milk which I make into yoghurt and feed my dog with; my mum taught me how to make sourdough bread which I don't eat that often but also good. I know Rhonda Patrick is a huge proponent of high intensity activity during the day ... I;m incredibly lazy but it is amazing what a minute or 2 of air squats will do getting up from my computer to which alas I am sort of glued ... great comment btw, tx!
I used to think I was lactose intolerant, that I'd developed it at age 40. I switched to Lactaid and it seemed to help. But my IBS never fully went away. And then I stopped eating processed sugars and carbs and went to an all natural diet high in protein. My IBS disappeared overnight. Turns out I'm not lactose intolerant. I eat heavy cream every day in my coffee. I was just eating too much sugar and ultra processed foods.
I can't digest casein which is the other milk protein. i think a lot of people think it's the lactose when it's really the casein. Lucky for you I hate living with organic A2 dairy.
Absolutely. My son is 12 years old, very sporty and particularly passionate for soccer. I however struggle to get him to eat healthy. I think a video illustrating how to eat healthy balance diet for kids would be great.
For those like myself with very limited income, we must use hacks to get what we need - there is a 160W UVA/UVB/Infrared/visible light mercury vapor floodlight bulb designed for desert reptile terrariums...it's only 25 bucks and very powerful, I use it all winter first thing in the morning, feels great!
Don’t forget scented products like laundry detergents and dryer sheets that leave clothes covered with toxic endocrine disrupters and an overpowering nauseating smell that would require dozens of washings with unscented soap to clean the toxic residue away.
Yup. Not just clothes, either. Those stabilized chemicals fly around the home and adsorb onto many plastics that people use/reuse for eating or food storage.
I wish all synthetic fragrances of any type or purpose disappeared. The chemicals and phthalates are so toxic and difficult to breakdown it’s literally a form of assault. I never agreed to being poisoned and that’s exactly what is happening.
@@duffer11the fragrance and dyes don’t do the cleaning. Seventh generation fragrance free or they use natural essential oils that are less toxic but some are toxic to pets and mimic estrogen. Rinse cycle with white vinegar. Whiten with Borax.
I really appreciate you taking all the information you gather from the research and from your interviews and condensing it down into a very palatable video that is densely packed with useful information. Thank you so much for all the hard work you do
The point about poor lighting was actually really interesting to me. I recently began working as an apprentice electrician and for my first job we've been replacing every old, bulky ceiling light with dimmable LEDs that are easier to install and have a warmer color to them. It was already nice learning what I have about electrical technology so far already, but it's great now knowing that what we're doing will have a much bigger impact than I originally thought for the people working there going in. 👍
I switched from drinking Alcohol to drinking Kava. After going Carnivore and cutting out things like alcohol and trying to have a drink occasionally I found I don't care for the taste or feeling of alcohol anymore. I found out about Kava and tried it, which I'm glad I did as it provides a nice calm and relaxing effect.
I don't know anything about Kava, but alcoholism runs in my family and has had devastating effects on it, so CONGRATULATIONS on ridding yourself of booze! (Not saying you were an alcoholic, but glad you are off that slippery slope that leads to nothing good.)

Interesting about the dish washer. Since moving back to the US and using a dishwasher all the time, my gut inflamation has been out of control. My dishwasher has an extra rinse option. I'll use the cycle for a month or two and see if it helps. If it does, I'll come back and edit this post.
Dear Thomas, I'm not sure if this is what you meant but when you said "micro-RNA," I saw mRNA listed on the screen. Micro-RNA is actually written miRNA shorthand, while mRNA actually stands for messenger RNA. DNA is usually translated to mRNA which is usually transcribed into protein. MiRNA are very short RNA 's that may be directly translated from DNA and can also be from a cleavage of mRNA or another RNA source and often act to help up-regulate or down regulate expression of DNA to RNA or transcription into protein. I should note that no matter which was the correct choice of words, either mRNA or miRNA being up or downregulated in relation to inflammatory compounds COULD be important and I think you are completely correct in the spirit of your message. I simply wanted to help you educate the audience and put some of my knowledge to use. I am in no way criticizing as I'm sure I would mix up many of the acronyms utilized in sports science.
High intensity exercise (specifically weight lifting) will ALSO double your ketone production (likely by burning hard through any stored or generated glucose). My ketone levels go from around 2 to mid 4’s easy, when I lift weights. I lift for a half hour or so, 3x a week, with dumbbells. Nothing heavier than 25lbs each. Curls, chest press, triceps kickbacks, bent over rows, deadlifts and squats. Hit pretty much everything, and nothing fancy.
This is all very useful information. I was personally delighted about the dishwasher detergent issue. I know that sounds a bit odd...😉 I - a 71-year-old woman - recently had a kitchen makeover and had a dishwasher installed primarily for resale value, as I do hope to move one day. I hadn't had a dishwasher in decades and had little interest in using it, but my Millennial son moved in and urged me to use it. If it's healthier to rinse the "clean" dishes off after removing them from the dishwasher, then we might as well just wash them in the sink the old-fashioned way - which I greatly prefer to do! (Aside from my considering the dishwasher routine to be a hassle, I don't like the weird feeling my dishes, spoons, etc. have afterwards.)
I agree. Since I dumped all the processed junk and excessive carbs, I come home from shopping with a basket full of dairy. Can't afford to live on steak, and veg prep is a total faff. My favourite meal of the day is Greek yoghurt full of nuts, seeds, and berries.
Live in europe (germany) but the greek yogurt is mostly only "greek style".....with a1 cows, but i like the 10% fat😊 More and more i look out for sheep or goat yogurt which is definitely a2.... And i like the bit stronger taste for salad dressing... 👍🏻
Did you notice how recently so many people in health industry are coming forwards with new truths? The book called the 23 former doctor truths by lauren clark made me question everything
Topic dairy. I think you should also look into what homogenization does to the milk in terms of total denaturization. Because many A2 vendors then homogenize the milk, totally defeating the idea to have something less irritating. Thanks for the great content!
Eat healthy, exercise, take vitamin tabs, eat black garlic and fermented cabbage such as Sauerkraut & kimchi, take one spoon of extra virgin olive oil and apple cider vinegar, drink kefir yogurt drink & matcha green tea and sleep well. That's what I've done and just celebrated my 65th birthday lately. 😊😊😊
To be honest, almost the same amount of activity to wash a dish by yourself as to put it in the dishwasher. Dishwashing is nothing when you live alone or maybe 2 people. Just rinse it immediately after eating, maybe a tiny bit of sponge movement and that's it!
@whatsupchicken OMG..I'm washing dishes all day long. And all night . I hate having dirty dishes. What happened to the days of paper or plastic plates.. too much $. And bad for the environment. The last time I had paper plates they were also burdensome. Too much garbage.. Gee in the old days I must have eaten out alot. I didn't have alot of garbage. Nor was I always washing dishes.. I did go out to dinner often. And I worked.
The most efficient person washing by hand is incapable of comparing to how little water a full dishwasher uses. It’s not even close. If you care about the environment and water usage, an energy efficient dishwasher is the answer.
Thank god for this video. Struggled with what doctors call CFS but for me it's extreme chronic inflammation and visceral fat increases symptoms exponentially such that I lose my way, stay fat and therefore stay unwell. Working hard to go very lean and HIIT is so effective against my symptoms.

Full spectrum bulbs are 5000K, no more than 5500K. Lower is warm yellow light, higher is blue light. A lot of smart bulbs (which fit into normal sockets) can be set to 5000K. White hydroponic lights are also generally full spectrum. Having full spectrum bulbs in all your lamps can improve your mood a lot.
Celiac it's an autoimmune decease. If I eat pasta, it's only imported form Italy, and we also have flour that improted form italy or GF flour (Sorghum, coconut,)
@DeLeahMarie Aldi has a certain brand of pasta that is being imported. Also I am sure your local (ish) Italian market/deli would have some. I just don't care for pasta in general that much to explore different places
Having an autoimmune, staying away from inflammation causing mediums is an everyday thing. I will concur natural light is huge though. I have significantly less pain in the summer vs the winter. I regularly do red light and infrared therapy (one every day or so)… it’s amazing how healing it can be
"THERE IS A SCALE" ....This needs to be said more. Too many listen to health stuff and see things in a black and white manner. Thank you for sharing your research - really loving your work👍
I've avoided emulsifiers for two years now. Recently i tried some dark chocolate that contained emulsifiers and i noticed it had a soapy texture. It really feels intuitive that it would strip the mucus layer from your intestines.
food for thought: Without getting into the details, as my dishwasher is old and there are many varieties; My final rinse in the dishwasher is with Borax. I believe that residue is useful to us as a trace mineral. Also - the vast majority of dishwashers aren't designed to use the pods, either. Just avoid the pods.
Do you put borax powder in a separate compartment for the final rinse? What detergent do you use? I live in a rental and the dishwasher here is really shtty
@@alicia_nicole Sry, it is complicated. I put powdered detergent on the dishwasher door, and run a 'quick rinse' cycle. I got the idea from the _Technology Connection_ channel, search 'dishwasher' - the most recent is a summary. Then I put powdered detergent on the door (again) for the prewash, and Borax in the compartment with the flap for the main wash cycle. That makes the Borax the last chemical on the dishes. I use the pots & pans cycle, to extend the wash time. I never use pods or packs. Also, if you have them, your filters may need to be cleaned. YMMV Merry Christmas 🎄 Happy New Year
Dropps makes all natural dish pods and other cleaning products and they work SO much better than conventional stuff, even without the extra rinsing aid. When I bought my condo the previous owners left a bunch of big name brand dish pods, so I used them up before buying some Dropps. I couldn’t believe how much better the Dropps worked. I like it so much I’ve given it away as stocking stuffer Xmas gifts. And they come in cardboard packaging so there’s no plastic.
I use Dropps too - they're really good. Although I'm not pleased that they no longer carry several of their products and they changed their packaging (still cardboard-which is good) but added lots more printing to make it more visible for retail sales (previously only via delivery).
I’m pretty sure the last thing a dishwasher does before ending the cleaning cycle is a rinse. I’m also pretty sure the rinse is done just with water so if that’s correct, what’s the point in rinsing them, using the same water source, just before use?
I think it’s more important to exclude MSG than alcohol. The number and effects of the negative side effects of MSG is scary. A friend of mine was a healthy person, but his doctor found that it was MSG that affected his heart valves negatively to the point that if he ate something with MSG without knowing it, the needed to call the ambulance within 20 minutes due to his heart valves starting to decrease in open/close function to the point that if unresolved, it would cost him his life. For me, it gave me an unstoppable appetite. There was this Thai Noodle “stew” that I used to buy. It was enough to make me full, but every time I ate it, I just had to eat something else right after. It took me a while to figure out what was going on, but then I read up on MSG, and I understood that it was the MSG that was causing the cravings.
We buy Kalona dairy products which are all grass fed. We make our own kefir from their whole milk which is fantastic for gut health with the healthy bacteria
I would make it 14 and add smartphone right at the top 😢 since cutting down my phone/social media usage, I've had remarkable improvements to my health and mood.
I have read many books, I listened to many RUclips videos by many of the world's leading gurus and health experts but nothing came close to the hidden herbs by anette ray. I recommend everyone giving it a read.
As someone who has a pretty severe flare up myself from most common breads I started ordering flour from France and Italy (shipping is pretty $$$ but worth it) for making homemade sourdough and pizza. The difference is stunning. Even making bread from local flour there is a response that is noticeable but this is totally different somehow. I can eat bread made from those flours every day if I want and the inflammatory response is neglible by comparison. I've also completely switched dairy to A2 and goat milk based so no complaints there.
@@hanginlaundry360 I have to say that the two are completely different in how they effect me. Regular store bought milk from even the best dairy suppliers with the grass fed organic..blah, blah... still beats the cr@p out of me. Literally. While harder to find, the A2 and goats milk are strangely the same as drinking bone broth and the way it makes my gut feel. Soothing, filling and no strange bloating, pain or anything else. They are simply night and day. I would definitely recommend it if you have the same issues. NOTE: I thought it was a lactose thing initially but even with lactose free the reaction was the same until switched to A2.
Have you looked into milling your own flour from organic wheat berries? Gluten is not really the issue. In processed flour all nutrients are basically removed to make it shelf stable, and then 4 synthetic vitamins are added back in. In processed wheat the only thing left is gluten and starches, not what nature intended your body to have to deal with. If you mill your own, you are getting 40 of 44 essential nutrients in the structure that nature intended and 99% of people find that their perceived gluten intolerance disappears. And as a bonus, the flavor of the bread products is amazing when using fresh milled flour.
@@stantoews5371 i'd thought about it until I found the flour I now get. Organic flour with no added anything and no inflammatory flares from even a small amount. Like I said above this is really a great alternative and while a bit more expensive it's turned out to b well worth it.
Probably everyone watching this channel knows this already, but it was not clearly mentioned in the video: Eat raw cold honey. When heated in tea or used in cooking all enzymes die. 🎅Merry Christmas everyone🌲
I heard that using a metal spoon with honey kills the ends, so I switched to using only a wooden spoon. I hope that helps a little, because I do use it in hot ginger tea.
I also use monkfruit, Stevia and honey. Another YTer didn’t think too much of the last two; so I feel a lot better now, especially since I keep hearing so much about allulose which is much harder to get.

Thank you Thomas for your well researched and yet open minded approach to health and the real causes of disease. I really liked your list here and the reasoning behind plus a lot of new information that I was not aware of. Keep up the great work and helping to educate us and how we can improve our own health with our health food choices. All the best for 2025.
As an engineer, I find it incongruous that our dishwashers with their rather intense rinse cycles could leave a film on dishes and flatwear that would be easily removed by a casual rinse in the sink.
I think rinse aid might be the biggest issue. Thomas has mentioned rinse aid in another video long ago. So even though your dish does a thorough job rinsing the spotless drying process leaves a toxic film behind.
Dang, now I have to research how to clean my dishes properly in the dishwasher. Crazy as it sounds I will take a look at adding vinegar. I will explain later…
@ that’s a great idea if the issue is that the last task of a normal machine is to add the rinse agent so that the dishes don’t water spot! If that is the mechanism that Thomas is referring to it would make sense!
@@amyhoang9140it’s a separate liquid added in the rinse aid compartment in your dishwasher to prevent streaks on glassware and flatware. “Jet Dry” is the most common brand of dishwasher rinse aid.
Great breakdown! I'm glad you mentioned about the a2 milk, I'm starting to see more and more of that. Maybe you can make a video on this specific down the road ✌️
I’ve seen more and more A2 milk on the stores I go to. Wondering about A2 half and half and A2 heavy cream. Would these be helpful? Or is there so little of that protein in these products that it’s not worth worrying about? I haven’t yet seen them on store shelves.
My Daughter is allergic to A1 casein. High amounts of intestinal inflammation. I'd been sourcing sheep's milk products for her until A2 hit the mass market. Sheep's milk is also A2. She can handle regular heavy cream and butter, as there is so little trace protein in it.
Excelant info, thanks. And thanks for details such as were to get one of those infrared lights. I don't mind product pushing when done with noble intent.
About avoiding A1 casein. Make sure your dairy source is from Jersey, or Guernsey cows. (Tan coat). NOT the (unfortunately, more common in US) Holstein cows.. which produce mostly A1 Casein These are the common black & white spotted cows we see here mostly in the US dairy industry😒
🤔 Me, as a german, have heard that the holstein cows (😑ours!! , more profitable& longer living) are a1 by a gene development ...... The brown cows should be a2... and goats&sheeps..... As far as i've heard🙄🤔
It makes sense that dairy and gluten are on the list. I really didn’t have much of a problem with either until after I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis, which is an autoimmune disease. But it depends on how much inflammation I have at the time. When my inflammation in my joints and connective tissue are low, I tolerate a small amount of dairy and wheat. I then have less symptoms in my digestive system.
Me too... and i like the bit stronger taste👍🏻 As i heard once, the black&white cows (Holstein cows, much milk, live long) are a1... The brown cows should be a2 And gout and sheep definitely a2
A2 milk for me ... grew up in Switzerland and since I moved to Canada I was struggling with milk until I foubd A2 here about 15 years ago. No issues any more 🙂
I've heard that the brown cows in Switzerland are a2 cows, but the german black&white Holstein cows (more profit& that counts sadly ) are a1 Goat&sheep definitely a2.... -From me as a german 🙄
I’ve severe bone on bone osteoarthritis not because I was obese, but because I’ve had since childhood knees that have been dislocating all the time while I was walking. No one knew this was happening until I was on stairs, my knee dislocated and I fell down the stairs and ripped everything out laterally. I then walked on a completely dislocated knee cap for a week until my father noticed I was still limping. I had 3 horrific knee surgeries at ages 10, 11, and 12. It didn’t fix the issues. As adult I had additional 5 knee surgeries and 3 back surgeries. I still need 2 total knees and 4 feet surgeries. I worked as RN for 35 years and finally had to stop working. I’m on disability. And I’m looking forward to trying the red light therapy you’ve recommended!

Concerning using honey as a sweetener, a thing I recently learned from a medical professional is that if you use honey by adding it to your tea (or anything hot), you're making it hepatotoxic. So it shouldn't be used as a drop-in replacement sweetener in all applications.
@@joe1071 Cool thanks. I just saw one of his other videos that said the best to buy is raw buckwheat honey. I've read mixed reviews on it though regarding the taste.

Me too, same story. No more IBS with somewhat Keto style: healthy oils no white sugar, very little wheat, more protein from eggs and meat.
Not eating enough protein can cause that too!
It's the protein in milk for me.

Don’t forget scented products like laundry detergents and dryer sheets that leave clothes covered with toxic endocrine disrupters and an overpowering nauseating smell that would require dozens of washings with unscented soap to clean the toxic residue away.
Amen!!!!
Yup. Not just clothes, either. Those stabilized chemicals fly around the home and adsorb onto many plastics that people use/reuse for eating or food storage.

Very helpful as I am far from a gym and looking for a simple routine!
One of your best videos!! Do more like this!

I hate having dirty dishes.

food for thought:
Without getting into the details, as my dishwasher is old and there are many varieties;
My final rinse in the dishwasher is with Borax.
YMMV

My concern with pods is the microplastics that are apparently left behind in our homes including those for laundry. ☮️
@ Dropps doesn’t use plastic. That’s why I said they’re all natural. Their website has details
I’m pretty sure the last thing a dishwasher does before ending the cleaning cycle is a rinse. I’m also pretty sure the rinse is done just with water so if that’s correct, what’s the point in rinsing them, using the same water source, just before use?
Lots of people use a rinse aid, which is more problematic than the detergent.
You are a BEACON of good information. Respect for what you do. Keep up the good work.
We buy Kalona dairy products which are all grass fed. We make our own kefir from their whole milk which is fantastic for gut health with the healthy bacteria

How do you find the A2?
14:31 what I’ve started to do is run a rinse only cycle after my wash cycle has finished. To get any residue off.

@edwhite2255
Adding vinegar to the rinse aid port? Don't know about that.
How about running a plain hot water rinse cycle in the dishwasher.
@ that’s a great idea if the issue is that the last task of a normal machine is to add the rinse agent so that the dishes don’t water spot! If that is the mechanism that Thomas is referring to it would make sense!
It’s not the detergent it’s the rinse aid that stays on your dishes. Stop using rinse aid!
What is the rinse aid? Is it in the detergent?
@@amyhoang9140it’s a separate liquid added in the rinse aid compartment in your dishwasher to prevent streaks on glassware and flatware. “Jet Dry” is the most common brand of dishwasher rinse aid.
Great breakdown!
I'm glad you mentioned about the a2 milk, I'm starting to see more and more of that.
Maybe you can make a video on this specific down the road ✌️

Holstein cows are black and white. They are the most common in the USA.

Good Stuff, Thomas

Yep.
And if you buy THC online called delta 8 they contain cbd which is anti inflammatory!
But it gives you the munchies..
