It was the best musical business decision since Metallica hired Cliff Burton, and then Jason Newstead, and then Robert Trujillo. I’m trying to say Metallica has had a lot of bassists. Rest in peace cliff🤟🏾🤟🏾🤟🏾
I agree. This is a big song in Black music culture so an adult never having heard the whole song is strange to me. I don't expect younger people to know every song, of course, but some songs are like standards. I follow another page that does reactions and...whew...
@@rhondaatkins1776 I agree with both of your comments..the only thing I can guess is that its because of the way music is being consumed today...growing up we didnt have a million radio stations or tv channels and streaming platforms like this generation does..In Philly we had a few top R&B stations...3 or 4 at best on the FM stations and they had playlist that didnt have thousands of artist in the rotation...with todays technology theres are literal probably a hundred thousand songs being released a day by independent artist trying to get streams, a song like this as great as it is would probably get lost in the over saturated music landscape of today...theres definitely a ton of other classics that todays generation are missing out on. But on the other hand my mom played a ton of songs from her generation as me and my siblings were growing up so I imagine some of todays generation are hearing music that was before their time that way .....hopefully
I always thought Johnny Gill sounded like an old soul to be so young when he first started out. His voice is so amazing. This song stays on my playlist because it gives me chills when I hear it. Such an outstanding song sung by outstanding young men.
This is a certified black classic. This will be played for 100s of years after we gone. This was the greatest singing group of all-time. Every version w Bobby Brown, with Johnny replacing him, with all 6.

I first saw New Edition perform at Six Flaggs in St Louis Missouri in 1984, in Dallas 11 years ago and Vegas last night. I was blown away with New Edition's performance and their tribute to the Spinners. New Edition still sound amazing after all these years. If you get a chance to catch New Edition's Vegas residency, go! I guarantee you won't be disappointed because they're like fine wine with each year!
First - don’t be skipping past NE songs! 😂 Second - go down this rabbit hole of New Edition. I’ve seen them in concert too many times to count in my life. They were everything when I was in high school! Thank you for the reaction!
There is a song by Alexander O'Neal called Sunshine. At the end of the song, he says sometimes sunshine turns to rain. I don't think anyone noticed... Can you stand the Rain is the continuation of that song.

When Johnny joined the group, it changed the whole dynamics of their sound. His voice combined with Ralph Trevants falsetto was a great combo
They had a more adult sound.
