    0:46 - Does this mean to have a siding, we need to somehow make an isolation section of track?

    • @FxBricks
      @FxBricks  2 года назад +1

      Yes. The P40 switch does not route power between the straight and diverging routes. All routes are live at all times. There are two reasons for this: 1. most model train switches are configured this way and it simplifies the overall wiring of your layout. 2. It simplifies the electrical contact design inside the switch and makes it more reliable.

    So excited for this. I’d like to pick up at least 4 pairs at launch. I hope they don’t sell out immediately. Have you determined a price for a left and right pair yet?

    You are doing a great job and I am planning to do an order of different curve radii, straight lengths and certainly of these P40 switches, because I am building several French TGV and they need high speed tracks and more 9v motors :-) But I have some questions:
    1.) Will it be possible to remote control the P40 switches, too? (Actually if you are going to offer such remote controls for people who do not have the time and energy to construct remote controls themselves).
    2.) Regarding the geometry: the P40 switch comprises a 40 length straight and an R104 curve, but with 22.62 rather than 22.5 degree angle. For building a parallel siding track, you propose using S8 straights and R64P curves, but wouldn't it be more logic to offer a special curve similar to the R104 for parallel sidings instead?
    3.) How is it possible to realize a 90 degree curve switching off a track? If I add six R104 with 11.25 degree angle each (altogether 67.5 degree angle) to the 22.62 degree of the P40 switch, this totals up to 90.12 degree, which is 0.12 degree too much for a right angle of 90 degree. Two special R104 curves with 11.19 degree (rather than 11.25 degree) would solve this problem. Or is it possible to emulate this using the S8 and R64P? Or ist the error so small that it is for practical purposes negligible?

    This video was released on Feb 11, 2022, more than one year ago. "We're aiming to make the P40 switch available for summer 2022" is totally obsolete. Summer 2023? There has been no update to these things for one year now. Also, my questions from one year ago (regarding the geometry and remote control of the P40 switch) have not been answered.

      I am also annoyed by the delays. The updates on their blog are always promises like "soon" or "stay tuned." I start to be worried that they run out of money at some point. They tried to reinvent motors, transformers, and switches. They even teased an axle that can pick up electricity from the tracks for lightning inside a passenger car. None of this has come to fruition.
      I can understand that Covid19 hit and supply chains broke down. I know that not everything that can be produced in foreign countries is up to standard and that you must gain some experience there. But the longer I cannot buy the products they invest in, the higher the risk they run out of money. It would be unfortunate if that happened and I would be really sad.

    • @goldfing5898
      @goldfing5898 Год назад

      @@ulrichschneider350 Now they suddenly announced the release of P40 switch, R64 curve and S 1.6 and S 3.2 for August, but they don't even announce it here on their RUclips channel; very disappointing. Besides, they never say anything about remote controlling their switches. A pair of switches seems to be quite expensive. For this price, I would expect remote control, or at least the option of upgrading to remote control, as in the 1980s, where a pair of manual switches (7856) was as cheap as 41,70 DM (about 20 Euros or 20 dollars, of course not inflation-corrected, but anyway). Even with remote controls, a pair of switches costed about 120 to 140 DM (60 to 70 Euros or USD). Today I saw a whopping price of 169 Euros for a pair of manual R 104 switches. And I have still no notion how to remote control them. If I build a large high speed track with wide curves, most of the switches will certainly be out of reach of my hands, so I urgently need remote control for my switches.
