Carlos is the perfect team mate to a great driver like Leclerc. If Charles is on it, Carlos has that 1.5 tenth ultimate pace disadvantage to not interfere with him but also back him up in terms of strategy and finish very closely behind him which is great for the constructors’ and potentially taking points away from Leclerc’s championship rivals. But also, he’s so consistently fast and still on a very high level himself that if Leclerc has a weekend where he just doesn’t find the pace, Carlos will still be there which also really pushes Leclerc to still improve in the aspects where he isn’t perfect yet. @@sleepy_lixie Yeah, I don't get it either. Carlos is a very good driver but the Ferrari drivers rarely work together, at most giving a tow when they have a grid penalty or giving their position when the other has much newer tyres. I don't think there is anything wrong about Carlos acting like a nº1 driver, it's his career and if you want to be a WDC you need to be greedy. But in the end Carlos is probably not consistent enough to be a WDC with Ferrari and not "docile" enough to act as a nº2. For Ferrari it makes sense to put Hamilton there because if you are going to treat both of your drivers as the Nº1 then it's better to actually have someone you know has the talent and experience to win it all.
I swear to god yall dont actually watch the races, was Sainz a perfect teammate in 22 when he was 3 tenths off Charles and did absolutely nothing worth of value in the championship fight besides getting beached in gravel? or when they robbed Charles of his Silverstone win to give Sainz his first career win instead of having him play second like he was supposed to help in the title fight Charles was still in? Plus the dude's entire objective seems to be to beat Charles, as soon as he's behind Charles he hops on radio saying he's faster and askingn to be let by, even tho maybe he's pushing and charles is managing like they talked about pre race, and when it's the reverse like in Mexico 24 he instantly bitches about keeping position and not fighting. Let alone the fact that his family is insanely toxic towards Charles, taking potshots whenever the feel the need to + the whole spanish media, the truth is he's not even a good teammate and that's also a reason why no top team wanted him for anything long term
Firing Carlos for Hamilton almost seems like Ferrari killing the goose that lays the Golden egg from time to time in the hope of infinite Golden eggs and instead ending up with nothing in the end. They are trading a rock solid team where the drivers a almost equally Capable but also restrained and respectful enough to race hard without crashing into each other for two drivers who needs the entire team around them, which may lead to the team splitting. Add to that that Lewis is a Briton who worked in a completely different culture. Who knows what's going to happen
Ferrari and being a "rock solid" team. Therein lies the rationale. Ferrari needs to be dominant. Ferrari expects to win. Every single race. This is their DNA.
Ferrari made a wrong decision, Lewis is my favourite driver, but considering his age and recent years performance, i don’t think he will bring substantial benefit to the team immediately, may be never eventually. Carols and Charles dynamic as partner drivers is very good if not the best. It is never a good idea to put 2 superstars in the same team. Ferrari replace Charles perfect teamate with the worst. I can only say the commercial value of Lewis is the real reason. Fred is not that dumb.
@@dw-et3gm Ferrari's stock price skyrocketed the moment they signed Hamilton. Even if he doesn't achieve anything there, it already justifies their choice. And Hamilton has been having a very strange season as well. don't consider him dead yet, he may very well be more than a match for Charles even as a 40 year old.
Carlos is the driver that Red Bull and Mercedes (Antonelli to Williams) needed. Carlos can beat anyone, not generate tension, and in the worst case scenario in which he has a bad year, he would still be a perfect second driver. He is intelligent on the track and always performs well.
@@Thedutchman12 Hamilton wants nothing less than a lead #1 driver. Same as Leclerc as he is Ferrari's future. If Hamilton beats Leclerc, how do you think Leclerc will cope with that? Especially if its for the WDC.
honestly i feel like carlos is the ideal second driver. very fast but not too aggressive. and works well with his teammates. i think max is the only person who didnt enjoy their time with carlos. he is also good enough to push any other driver you pair with him to consistent good performances.
My hypothesis for RB not signing Sianz is that Jos is really afraid/jealous of Carlos Sainz Sr, not jr, being a better driver than himself and much more appreciated overall. Mercedes is making a huge mistake bringing Antonelli so soon. But Carlos always pushed his teams forward, so we might get a decent williams in the next years.
I remember Button as being one of the smoothest drivers, with minimal steering corrections throughout his racing lines. It was mesmerising to watch his onboards.
I love Carlos and thought his stint at toro rosso was underrated especially in 2017, and of course he’s been great ever since 2019. However, he’s never been championship material, in the sense of Max,Lewis, Alonso and so on. I’d rate him just above drivers from the early 2010s like Bottas, Perez. Hulk, and Ricciardo. Best of the midfield drivers that given the car and right conditions can grab wins and podiums, but can’t string it along consistently in a season or even for multiple. Bonus: I could see him almsot as Mark Weber, given the proper chance he could contend and potentially win a championship, but he’d need to be perfect, which unfortunately for Mark he wasn’t in 2010.
By the time sainz gets to a top team again, his prime will most likely be over unfortunately. A huge shame but this is F1, Nico hulkenburg never had a winning car in the first place, it happens all the time when race winning drivers don't get race winning cars.
I never seen Carlos as a number #2 driver to Charles, but he's not on par with him either, it's like him is a #1,5 to Charles. If the car is actually consistent to fight for WDC, I believe Carlos will give Charles a run of his money. I believe he's kind of Rosberg to Charles.
Nah don’t think he’s a Rosberg type who can get a wdc in that ferrari. More like button at McLaren and massa at Ferrari before he had that injury in 09
Agree with the first point, he’s shown time and time again that when he’s on it, he’s on it. But disagree for the second: we saw in ‘22 the first half of the season that he was no where near Leclerc in a competitive car, he wouldn’t challenge
@@clean6089Every driver has bad years. Even guys like Hamilton and Alonso have had years they'd like to forget, in terms of relative performance. Sainz really struggled adapting to the new ground effects era in early 2022. Just like Hamilton.

Carlos was quite lucky to get the Ferrari seat though. He's done a solid job. I don't think he can have many complaints. He doesn't because he understands why he's been replaced. A true gentleman.
I already loved him, but the maturity and professionalism he has shown through all of this unfortunate situation made me love him even more. IMO, if he brings Williams to the upper-midfield, being capable to challenge for podiums or even wins, it will be even bigger than staying a Ferrari #2 forever. Time will tell. I hope Williams gives him a competitive car.
Sainz is a very good driver, but he's not superstar material and will never be. He's capable of strong performances and vanish the very next race, it has been like this for years. But given that he was fired in favor of an already much more successful driver, people feel the need to look for ways to say this was a bad move out of sympathy.
I've said before on my channel, in fact right after Sainz won in Australia that he's NOT underrated. I didn't even say that in this video because I think he's rated exactly right, not amongst the elite but certainly good enough to sneak a championship under the right circumstances
@@Aldas001 He's definitely a driver that could win a WDC against any of the current greats if certain stars align. He's probably going to need a 2016 Rosberg-esque season with a top team to do it though.
I mean in fairness as Albon and now Colapinto have shown the Williams isn't actually a bad car (it only looked like a bad car because Logan Sargeant was a very bad driver). And as McLaren have proven this season, it's not impossible for a 'customer team' to compete for wins and titles, but Williams are still a LONG way off that.
Sainz is a brilliant driver, but personally, I feel he is just a level below world champion material. He is certainly below Alonso, Lewis, Max & Charles. And possibly George. He was the perfect teammate for Leclerc, though.
@Uzair_Of_Babylon465 I personally feel George is slightly better or at least has a higher ceiling. His outright pace is better than Sainz, and this season, George has shown improved race management as well.
It feels odd to remove him at the height of his ability. I never thought of him as being very special but over the years I noticed that hes effectively disproven those who thought leclerc to be the Ferrari genius at play. I believe Sainz was not as good as leclerc although the gap was minor. I think many people saw leclercs potential to go to the edge of the cars capabilities as a sign he would exceed his teammate in the long run and specifically when Ferrari is able to compete again. But Sainz has something only a few drivers have and it became noticeable more and more as he evened the score with leclerc more and more. This guy stays cool and calm and analytic in most situations. It's not that he delivers productively it's that he shows to be performing in situations almost every other driver besides maybe verstappen struggles to perform. I find it hard not to mention that he was the only non red bull race winner for eons while the prodigy still fails to show his outstanding performance that was prognosed. What I wonder about is if sainz just assesses realistically what his chances are that over performing actually yields any lasting gains. If it does then he mostly shines. I would even assume him to be more reliable of winning a title for Ferrari than leclerc.
Ferrari chose Hamilton over Sainz simply because of his celebrity status that can bring a lot in a marketing perspective, and sponsorships. While I understand Hamilton is a 7x champion and Sainz has nothing yet, but is Hamilton really still capable of even matching prime years at Mercedes? If Ferrari could fight for the championship in 2025, how will he cope having Leclerc as his teammate who is hungry for a championship himself. Sainz been upping his game since his struggles in 2022, still yet to find his prime. Leclerc is obviously still a superior driver, but hes not even that far off. The Ferrari lineup is one of, if not the most superior lineup on the grid. I'd put Hamilton and Russell close 2nd, and Mclaren 3rd. If Ferreri wins the constructors this year, it will be solely down to the drivers that made it possible. It's disappointing why Ferrari even chose Hamilton in the first place, when he's only there short term. It's not even guaranteed he'll be #1 over Leclerc.
i find carlos' forced exit from ferrari somewhat a necessary evil in his career, tbh. bc even given ferrari's (potential) continued improvements, maybe making a wdc possible again, there is no way in hell the team will let carlos win before leclerc does, if ever at all. he will likely just end up as another bottas, so moving to a team that values him more was probably a good move for him.
As a Carlos and Ferrari fan I see your point. Charles is their number 1 driver and it's true that they wouldn't let Carlos win a championship before Charles. However I find it extremely frustrating that the big teams are sleeping on the huge talent and potential that Carlos has proved to have. He's 30 and he still hasn't reached his ceiling, which is astonishing
Hulkenberg is story is also very similar story to JB. Don't get me wrong, my favourite drive by far is JB and in Sainz with the current era of Formula 1. I think people like sainz and hulkenberg are like championship material. They know how to get the best of the team and to get on track performance at a consistent pace. Being stuck behind a faster car can be frustrating at times but, they know their positions, and have many laps on the displine/category. Baku this year was a flash point. Something sainz would like to forget. And Sainz and hulkenberg don't need to prove it that they are very good drivers. You know they are. Once you learn their quality.
Ive been saying since Sainz joined Ferrari that Ferrari has the strongest driver pairing and it will definitely be better than Hamilton joining Ferrari
I think Williams will be challenging for points in most races next season. They’re showing the most promise for moving forward among the bottom 5 teams (Haas has progressed further, but their long term potential? less exciting).
Both Sainz and Ricciardo had the potential to be a World Champion since they matched Verstappen when they were teammates... It was unfortunate they did not have the right car during their career

Let's be real, this whole generation of drivers has been having frustrating careers. Other than Max of course. When Leclerc got to Ferrari and almost won his 2nd race there already, it looked like he was going to have a stellar career but Ferrari let him down too many times since then. Carlos wasn't as impressive in his first seasons, but what hampered him is the fact that Red Bull dropped him. He had to survive "in the wild" jumping from team to team because Red Bull chose Max, and they always operate with a slower outsider as the teammate of their champ. So, basically, Red Bull's domination and the fact that they won't allow two competitive drivers there has been hampering the chances of other talents.
I think saying Carlos is better than Norris a bit of a stretch , different qualities , he’s a good team player he great at giving you a hand let’s say , and I believe the teams have their own personality it’s just a matter of who fits in it
Anyone in here who thinks sainz is even close to Hamilton in ability really is just exposing themselves for how little they know about the sport. Also the pearl clutching for drivers getting dropped its like everyone has short memories, this is how F1 ised to be. There is no loyalty, never has been. I like sainz and i rate him highly but there are three drivers on the the grid who are a cut above the rest and they all happen to have WDC.
Future WDC? Never was, never will. Carlos can't be consistent on a high level. Wich is sad, since he seems to be one of the most intelligent drivers on the grid.
Ferrari vs McLaren title fight. LeClerc and Hamilton souring and crashing into each other. Same for Norris and Piastri. Max scores consistent P3-5 finishes and the occasional win. Perez fighting to stay ahead of Sauber and Haas. EoY: how on earth did he win again !?
I'm afraid Hamilton is going to bring too much tension to Ferrari, being as he is, every mistake or defeat will be according to him, because he is black and people are against him.
Another random midainz, hype video, max is one tier, charles lando George Lewis possibly Fernando is tier 1.5, Sainz is a second drive that doesn’t behave or Aston #1 maybe
Few months ago people couldn't understand why Hamilton would need Ferrari seat. But now people can't understand why Ferrari needs Hamilton over Sainz. What a season
I'm gonna need someone to explain to me why Leclerc is put in the same category as Hamilton and Verstappen. Genuinely curious, not trying to be impolite.
4:12 At the time of Hamilton signing to Ferrari, there was Alonso who had been a better performing driver than Lewis in 2023, and you could argue that Lando had been performing at least as well as Lewis. So I'd say at least Max, Lewis, Fernando and Lando could have replaced Carlos if the decision was made purely for performance reasons.
as carlos' number 1 fan, i was extremely angered at ferrari. removing him JUST because he isn't a 7 time world champion?? on top of that, i think that ferrari will spilt, as charles and lewis' dynamic will not be ideal. 2 number 1 drivers on one team? has anyone even seen vegas? charles will not like being a number 2 driver to lewis. carlos also is very cool-headed and analytic, something most drivers are not. his ability to not crack under pressure is what separates him from the rest of the grid. does ferrari even pay attention???
I really hope this blows up in Ferrari's face. Sainz has been a consistent points getter every season he's raced for them with clear season to season improvement, they deserve a cursed season after dumping him.
I"ll be interested to see if Leclerc beats Hamilton and, if so, whether he beats him by more than he is beating Sainz this year (bearing in mind Sainz has one less race). If he doesn't beat Hamilton by more than the amount he is beating Sainz it will be 1)hilarious and 2) prove that Lewis's appointment was mostly about PR, marketing and stock values. I just want to enjoy Elkann's reaction if Lewis's great Ferrari adventure goes pear-shaped. Meanwhile I believe that although Carlos's 'sacking' was crass I think he will take his big strategic brain to Williams and do what he and Lando did at McLaren - be a potential big factor in taking Williams up the grid.
I would be ready to see Lewis struggle at Ferrari, that would be so deserved bad karma for Ferrari. With his current form, Lewis doesn't deserve the seat over Sainz.
@@purpledahlia1969 I wouldn't be surprised if this works out like McLaren 2007 in reverse: Lewis being the Alonso in coming to a new team and destabilizing it with his antics.
he will struggle as sargeant fucked williams for next season due to his crashes. the money they get for potentially finishing 8th which is 9 million dollars more than finishing 9th, they actually only get 6 million more because sargeant cost the team 3 million this season by crashing. So when Carlos struggles to score points = blame logan sargeant for that
the problem with sainz is conisistency the fact charles has 5 podiums vs him having 2 podiums shows everything solid for number 2 , can be a world champion only if he has the fastest and if teammates arent max,lec , lando or geroge
@ I mean, sure, he’d do better than Checo, but I think that car is fucked. McLaren and Ferrari have better vehicle evolution, the Redbull has to be pushed to a razors edge to qualify fast and it can’t keep tyres at this race pace.
“A driver guaranteed to become a WDC like Max, Lewis or Leclerc.” I think you meant “or Alonso.” Since CL hasn’t won a WDC nor is he guaranteed to become one.
Sainz is a good driver who didn't deserve to get thrown out of Ferrari, but he's not what I'd call championship material. Maybe if he had enough time in a competitive car he could win one like Rosberg did. But not someone you'd want to mount a title challenge with. Let's put it this way - he was a great teammate for Leclerc, who is rightly Ferrari's main man.
Question: If he stayed at Torro Rosso for 2018 would he have got the Red Bull seat? Or would the same issues that cost him the seat for next year have cost him then too? How close would he be to Max?
SAINZ sr and Jos made mayhem at Toro Rosso. He was never gonna go to RBR. Horner didn’t need, and still doesn’t need, that mayhem repeated in the team.
SAINZ is nowhere near Max cos he IS NOT CONSISTENT. He hasn’t been consistentie any season. Always struggling to get grip on the new season car…. Max IS CONSISTENCY.

Equally capable lol
Ferrari made a wrong decision, Lewis is my favourite driver, but considering his age and recent years performance, i don’t think he will bring substantial benefit to the team immediately, may be never eventually. Carols and Charles dynamic as partner drivers is very good if not the best. It is never a good idea to put 2 superstars in the same team. Ferrari replace Charles perfect teamate with the worst. I can only say the commercial value of Lewis is the real reason. Fred is not that dumb.
@@dw-et3gm The commercial value of Lewis. John Elkann.
Sainz will bounce back from losing his Ferrari seat, but Leclerc’s entire career trajectory could be altered if he doesn’t beat Lewis Hamilton.
How would his entire career trajectory be altered lol?😂
No. If he doesn't beat Hamilton, it's only natural, he didn't beat Lewis motherfucking Hamilton, but if he does beat him, he'll get all the praise.
@@Thedutchman12 Hamilton wants nothing less than a lead #1 driver. Same as Leclerc as he is Ferrari's future. If Hamilton beats Leclerc, how do you think Leclerc will cope with that? Especially if its for the WDC.
@@jimmystoney8029 If it happens, he'll handle it the same way he's handled everything else.
@@Thedutchman12 Time will tell, but his current form isn't looking so good to be optimistic.
honestly i feel like carlos is the ideal second driver. very fast but not too aggressive. and works well with his teammates. i think max is the only person who didnt enjoy their time with carlos. he is also good enough to push any other driver you pair with him to consistent good performances.
Sainz has never been a Number 2 driver 😂 Dude was even cooking in a Toro Rosso
Was number 2 to Max at Toro Rosso and number 2 to leclerc at Ferrari, what do you mean?
I heard the problem with Red Bull was not between Carlos and Max but between Sainz Senior and Jos...and honestly, I have no problem believing that ^^
I never seen Carlos as a number #2 driver to Charles, but he's not on par with him either, it's like him is a #1,5 to Charles.
@@joshuabeckham2387 The fact that Charles adapted to new regulations and was on top proves you that Charles is in a different league .
If this years car was the clear fastest Charles would be over a 100 points ahead of Carlos. The gap is 50+ with the third fastest car imagine what it could be if the point difference between p1 and p2 is 7 points. Sainz could never compete
To me he's like Button. Great driver, not as good as the very top, but if the stars align for him and gets a Brawn-esque season he can be a WDC
He's like a fallen angel. Alonso aswell
Carlos deserves better.
Not sure he is better than Lando, he may be a more decisive overtaker but raw pace is what Sainz lacks and is what Norris has in abundance.
He isn’t better than Lando. His peaks, like Mexico, are comparable to Lando, but Lando just reaches those peaks more consistently over a season. And Carlos’ bad days are much worse than Lando’s bad days.
the fact that carlos is so chill makes people think he s not one of the best drivers on the grid when in fact he is

Really enjoying this style of commentary. I like hearing how natural you sound, almost conversational. Love your videos mate, enjoy your holiday!

sainz the 1009000000 world champion even more than lewis and schumacher combined
Sainz is a very good driver, but he's not superstar material and will never be. He's capable of strong performances and vanish the very next race, it has been like this for years.
But given that he was fired in favor of an already much more successful driver, people feel the need to look for ways to say this was a bad move out of sympathy.
@@bizarroeddie1this. Only really has been convincingly faster than Charles in Mexico and Bahrain, and maybe Australia.
I've said before on my channel, in fact right after Sainz won in Australia that he's NOT underrated. I didn't even say that in this video because I think he's rated exactly right, not amongst the elite but certainly good enough to sneak a championship under the right circumstances
@@Aldas001
He's definitely a driver that could win a WDC against any of the current greats if certain stars align.
Sainz is better than George
@Uzair_Of_Babylon465 I personally feel George is slightly better or at least has a higher ceiling. His outright pace is better than Sainz, and this season, George has shown improved race management as well.
He’ll be like Hakkinen, years until he’ll be a champion but eventually he’ll get his crown
oh come on don't compare hakkinen to sainz
i have been and always will be a sainz fan. hes such a solid driver and i hope he does well in williams. my goat
I would even assume him to be more reliable of winning a title for Ferrari than leclerc.
i love this new podcast version have fun in japan dude and please make more podcast videos like this!!
I hope his move to Williams will be as good as Massa's, who got there right when Williams improved significantly
i find carlos' forced exit from ferrari somewhat a necessary evil in his career, tbh. bc even given ferrari's (potential) continued improvements, maybe making a wdc possible again, there is no way in hell the team will let carlos win before leclerc does, if ever at all. he will likely just end up as another bottas, so moving to a team that values him more was probably a good move for him.
If Aston start taking themselves seriously we could have a double Spanish line up. Or if Piastri jumps ship Mclaren could reunite Carlando.
Tbf, Barrichello outscored Button in 2008 and the 2nd half of 2009, he just got super unlucky at the beginning of the year
After watching the Brawn doc and falling in love with Rubens I could feel my heart crack at "Easy teammate" 😭

Matched? Max with 1 year of single seater experience beat Sainz who had atleast 4 if not 5.

This season ending with Mclaren vs Ferrari vs Max should be thrilling!
Imagine if he just dominates in the Williams
Future WDC? Never was, never will. Carlos can't be consistent on a high level. Wich is sad, since he seems to be one of the most intelligent drivers on the grid.
leclerc: Win in dry track
Lewis: Win in wet track
I feel like Lecerc and Hamiltion are going to have a meltdown next year
They will
Ferrari vs McLaren title fight.

Must be nice driving for an honest SPORTING team like Ferrari and not for a despicable sabotage infected team like red bull.
the problem with sainz is conisistency the fact charles has 5 podiums vs him having 2 podiums shows everything solid for number 2 , can be a world champion only if he has the fastest and if teammates arent max,lec , lando or geroge
Wtf do you think Carlos in RedBull would have been fighting for the podium? McLaren and Ferrari where in a league of their own 💀
Carlos is my favorite driver, that being said I don’t think that Redbull is particularly easy to drive.
He's adapted to so many different cars already, I think that's ever more the reason RB should've picked him. Who's to say he couldn't handle the RB20?
@ I mean, sure, he’d do better than Checo, but I think that car is fucked. McLaren and Ferrari have better vehicle evolution, the Redbull has to be pushed to a razors edge to qualify fast and it can’t keep tyres at this race pace.
Another driver is Fernando Alonso, granted they haven't burn all the bridges to each other

In red bull there are a lot of ego involved, thank goodness he's going to Williams instead of that dumpster fire
Carlos beat Charles once and was behind Leclerc in seven races in a row before that. It's unbelievable how overrated Sainz is
I thought you were less reactionary
“A driver guaranteed to become a WDC like Max, Lewis or Leclerc.” I think you meant “or Alonso.” Since CL hasn’t won a WDC nor is he guaranteed to become one.
Easy to say that Carlos could fight in the RB.. Maybe he would've ended up like checo
Top 3 driver on the grid.
Lewis going to Ferrari is such a blatant corporate move.... Let's see how # blessed will fit into the team... Lewis has been nowhere since '21.
My dream is that Carlos manages to win the constructors' championship with Ferrari ❤🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Sainz should’ve gone to Redbull

Ut us unfortunate to see Carlos leaving Ferrari. I do think Charles feel the same way. Having wheel to wheel battle with Carlos, without too much tension, has allow Charles to give 120% of his performance without too much tension in the race.
Next tear agains Lewis, it will be really hard for Charles given Lewis is cruel on teammates.
Lastly, my view, he should be Max team mates at RB rafger in Williams. I wonder what will happen to the grid with Max Carlos - Lewis Charles, Lando Piastri. It wjll be sensational.
All and all, i think 2024 is a sensational season. Nof just for Ferrari, but also for Mclaren Mercedes and Haas Time for Red Bull to think about theirsecond driver thoughtfully, like McLaren a gear ago when they have to pay to get rid Ricciardo.
