I use Jamaican black castor oil and raw Shea butter and grape seed oil to detangle and pre poo my hair. Then I will clarify after. Its way too heavy to just put on my scalp or leave in my hair, but I wouldn't suggest washing your hair with cornrows because it will matte regardless of what you oil you use.👍🏾💕
You can keep braids in and use castor oil with that. But that hair stylist is pulling your hair out. All you needed was conditioner or alo in your hair and them tangles would have come right out
If you watched my video to the end,I mentioned that I have washed my hair in braids before but have never had this much tangle till I started using the castor oil. I acknowledge that keeping my hair in braids for this long, while using castor oil was a bad idea but castor oil definitely contributed to it. I am not a hair expert, so this is a genuine experience of mine. If you have a tip or advice on how I can use the castor oil better next time, I would appreciate it. Thanks
Washing your hair in braids is absolutely not damaging if it is your own hair and not synthetic hair. I find it to be more work and pointless. It begins to loc your hair, but not damaging.
I use black Jamaican castor oil, wild growth hair oil and virgin hair fertilizer. I usually have corn rolls in for about five weeks. I take the corn rolls out and use a clarifying shampoo and have had no problems. I’ve been doing this for four months now and my hair and eyebrows have grown.
I feel your pain. The same thing happens to my hair with castor oil and other oils; especially when a product with protein e.g. conditioners have already been applied. I think the hard water also plays a part. Hard water has chlorine and other chemicals. Some oils work better than others on my natural hair. Otherwise, it turns my hair into a matted webbed mess, and I get so upset. I have had to cut my hair so so many times for this.
Wow! I did not know this. Thanks so much. And you are right, I applied leave in conditioner and castor oil when my hair was still in the cornrows(worse mistake ever). How do I know which oil and/other conditioner to use that won’t put my hair in a bad condition?😫
Be careful with store-bought castor oil. Its very different from the homemade. My mom makes pure black castor oil and we use it for hair growth, period pains, as a laxative etc.
I also used castor oil and washed my hair a month later and my nape matted but the very same day after washing I quickly detangled it row by row because I knew it will be difficult to remove it once they dry. Now I know that I shouldn’t wash my hair if I use castor oil
Glad you got help to get it detangled, it looks like the castor oil weighed the hair down so it loc’d. You look so relieved, and retained so much length
Thanks love. I will upload an update skin care routine 🤗🤗. And yes, I was so relieved!!! I was this close to chopping my hair off but glad I did not. I hope never to experience this again.
Too much oil and leaving it in braids. I am glad you recovered. I wish I knew how to braid!😢 I think you would have done better with twists. Next time, use a detangler and less oil. Cantu pre shampoo or Pattern Transition masque.
Get some good hair conditioner instead of using the castor oil. And use a lot of conditioner at every wash. It is expensive but it works. I have 3b/4a hair and it has made my life much easier.
Obviously my hair is different than yours 😉 but my hair would totally matt if I left Castor oil in overnight. If it was in braids I'd be bald from shaving my head lol I apply Castor oil like a treatment. Rub it on, leave it for an hour then I wash my hair well. It does help with hair growth. If some one is leaving it on their hair overnight they must have straight slick hair or something 😂 because my hair turned into a rug overnight. It was awful. Your hair looks really cute at the end. But it sucks when you have to cut off length. ❤
Yeees castor oil DISTROYED my hair too ....just like that...Maybe there is a way to use it better,🙃🙃

You damage your hair washing in braids! Bad information on using Castor oil.

I used to put a little Castor oil on the ends of my daughter's hair when I gave her a two strand twist. It sealed her ends
Maybe I should do that instead.

I never had any problems with Castor oil
I use Jamaican black Castor oil
Your hairdresser didn't have to be so rough
So sorry , location pls , coming to collect the Castor oil 😁
😅Unfortunately I’m using it for something else.
My hair HATES castor oil. Using it gave me bald spots. I don't touch it!
Thanks for this!

You should never ever wash your hair with braids bad
Now I know. Thank you.
I really think castor oil is too thick to use all over your head, especially the scalp. I think it can clog the pores
