I like that you are trying to make a sort of good product better. I would like to see a professional solution like what you are doing here where you set the litter box on a container or pedestal and increase the waist storage 10 times while still using the same mechanism. I was thinking why not a metal frame that was spring loaded that would hold the bag in place and seal with the std lid. When the larger receptical is full you push in on the springs on both sides and remove the frame and bag
I put my plastic bolts upside down so the head of the bolt is on the outside and the nut is inside. My thinking was that it would provide a smoother surface to the cat side.
that's a great idea, I just bought the littermaid box, and I've complained to the company about the flimsy lids that keep popping out, because the two bottom taps won't fit into the slots, they are sending me better lids made by another manufacturer saying the containers and lids that come with the unit are flimsy compared to these others, nice, however this morning the lid came off again, I got so mad I threw the damn thing, replaced the container and lid AGAIN...I DIDN'T know that you could get this extra lid, of course I live in Canada and need to find it elsewhere, I'm ordering one of these...do you still need the filters that attach, didn't say anything about it, however I would assume so.
+Beth Brown We made a slight modification to the design due to a change that LitterMaid on some models' lids. Now, instead of screwing into nuts, the bolts screw into the white circles (there are brass washers in the middle of the circles). So we no longer use the nuts.
I prefer the smoother surface on the side where the waste piles up - less messy. Let me know if that becomes a problem for you.

Hi I ordered mine with but it came without bolts to hold it on. It just arrived today.
For the last 5+ years there is a threaded attachment embedded in the white circles - no longer needs a nut. The bolt just screws into the cirlce

Filters will not stick well to the PERMA-lid
Have you ever tried bluetac?
I didn't get any nuts!
