A couple notes. On multiple other videos it says the reverse of what you did regarding which cable to attach and detach first. The other videos I saw say disconnect the negative first and connect the positive first. I don't know anything, I'm just noting I saw this in other videos.
I also saw a general video not pertaining specifically to Hyundai Sonatas that said since newer cars have a computer that controls many aspects of the car, when you disconnect the battery the computer loses power, and when you reconnect to the new battery, many of the computer-powered functions could have issues. That video recommended using some car flash drive thing.
I don't know anything, I just thought I'd mention what I saw elsewhere.

Hey Sean, I appreciate your comment, Yes the reason they say to disconnect the negative first is because if the fumes of the battery build up with the negative attached the positive could spark and cause a fire or explosion. I think when I got the negative loose, I figured I pulled it off but I did not and then pulled the positive off first, You should always pull the Black Negative off first, If you see the traverse video I have I did just that. But I also made sure to do that because of the location of the battery. When you're doing one under the hood in an open area the risk is a lot less than such as in a Chevy Traverse where it's inside the vehicle. When I put the new battery in you can see I did the Negative First and then the Positive.( I will probably refilm this video and and repost it to make sure it's corrected)Thank you for bringing it to my attention. And yes when you disconnect the battery to a car the PCU "The Computer" loses stored data. That's why the clock is usually wrong and the OBD2 will have to go through all checks. And the flash drive thing I've heard of but have never came across a vehicle that required that. I wouldn't be surprised though if newer cars have that since they are always changing and evolving especially with all the EV's coming out. I hope this response helps, as I know you have helped me become a better RUclipsr by your comment. Thank you Sean, Sincerely Chris - "Let's Repair" PSS. Sorry for the long reply lol.

Thanks for the clip. Looks like it's a doable DIY. I have a same Sonata GLS 2013. Hyundai manual says I don't need to change the battery but I think I definitely need to do sometime. I just don't know when. Did you have any battery issue or did you preemptively change it?

Yeah It's really easy, I left my lights on for like 20 minutes and my car wouldn't start so I knew the battery was going out soon, also the date sticker said it was like 5 years old at the time. And in Las Vegas NV when it's 110-115 in the summer, batteries don't last very long so I just changed mine.

Sorry for the delay, but it was a 6inch extension with a 12mm socket to remove the lower battery holder block.
