Thanks for the video. I've changed plenty of batteries but was afraid of the fuse on top of the positive post. I watched your video just to make sure I wasn't going to fry anything.
Thank you so much for this video. I am completely illiterate when working on a car in this video was extremely helpful. Mine was a 2017 Santa de and this was still pertinent.
Perfect! Thank you very much for informative video. In my case (Santa Fe 2014), I didn’t use any battery backup and all information/data was still there after replacement.
Slick job there Jim. Having that extra power pack sure saves some time and customer grief. When my wife loses her presets I hear about it! Plus I'm the one that has to reset everything.
clear and concise. Thanks for that! Was wondering how that air intake was going to come off. Mine was just using a flathead screwdriver and pop it off.
Thank you for sharing your video - I got a problem and wonder that you can help. My 2016 Santa Fe just quit on me this morning. My car is just about 45000 miles. I could not start and there is a funny noise under the fuse box, It ticks, ticks, ticks like running in a cycle, even after turn off and pull the key out. So after a while, the battery drained out. So do you have any idea what happened and what would you suggest? (Please note: i had no problem a day before) - BTW, I did try to jump start but it does not work at all, and the noise stopped. Thank you very much for your time
Good job by a good and easy to understand video! Managed to repair my old SantaFe 2010 CM right now! Some ideas for the brakes? Thanx a lot! BR from good old Germany! Chris
Regarding trickle charging a battery for 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe XL. Can one leave the battery in the car but remove both battery cables from the post and tuck them aside?
Can you link any known videos of disassembling the positive terminal holder? Snapped the bolt trying to tighten the positive terminal when I was putting everything back together. Still looking for OEM parts but when I tried to disassembled all the wires/plates connected to the clamp, it was a bit difficult. Thanks in advance @jimthecarguy
jim is one of the most honest and talented mechanics I know. every time I see his videos I always learn something . jim one question re the cables the nuts are they 10 mm ? grate video . check your inbox for a pm I want to share some good news with you but want to keep it pvt
Thanks for the video. You have to have the key on the ON position because the battery saver won't provide power otherwise? What about cars that don't use car keys anymore?
Thank you for stopping by the shop. With the push button start you keep your foot off the brake and push the button to turn on the ignition then follow this video.Very good question.
You don't go into any detail as to why the key needs to be turned on. Is it because the accessory port gets turned on and lets current flow? In the old shop I was at we had a unit that plugged into the OBD port and didn't turn the key on. Is it because that is Hot all the time?
Hi Jim I don’t have that power saving memory device. Can I skip this step? My Santa Fe is a 2015 push start. Will I only have to reset the radio stations and time? I don’t have a gps.
jim I am A Hyundai tech now. when ever I am doing a battery replacement at the dealership when I re connect the cables I always make sure that the keys are removed from the ignition otherwise the 15 mm fuse pops sometimes and then you will know this when you try and put the veh in reverse because it wont go in reverse
Hey Jim, I’m about to replace a battery, but we just got it so I don’t have anything preset I’m worried about. Is it ok to skip the power saver then? Also, If I’m not trying to save anything do I still turn it on during the replacement of the battery step?
Jim, I just recently watched this video and saw that when you actually disconnected the battery the lights went out even though you are back feeding power to the car. Then a few seconds later they came back on. Did the car lose power in that moment?
Hi Jim, I did an alternator test on my 2018 Hyundai Tucson 2L by removing the positive terminal from the battery. The engine stayed running with everything turned on. But when I reattached the positive terminal to the battery and tried to restart the car it would not start. Is this a good indication that the battery is shot
No you should never, ever remove a battery end when the car is running this will cause some major electrical issues. When you say it will not start what exactly happens?
Jim: Just bought a 2019 Frontier & I'm hearing horror stories that if the battery dies (or you disconnect it) the keys lose their programming & the vehicle won't re-start. Is this true?
JOE FORD DIY hi i have a question Joe since u are a Hyundai tech...my battery recently died and we dont know why because the battery was only 1 year and a half old. And they thought it was the starter but it ended up being the battery. So after changing it my screen is not powering back on at all! What can I do?
This was so simple to follow! Can’t believe I’ve ever paid to change my battery out.
Thanks for watching.
I used your info today, saved me alot of money and it wasn`t hard at all if you just knew where to start, which you showed me, thanks!
Great Job. To the point... No wasted fluff!! Thank You.

Thanks, your video was very helpful. Had my mom's battery switched out in about 15 minutes.
Thanks for the informative video...I replaced my battery and I only needed to reset the date/clock...all my radio presets were still there

Your right if I change the battery and loose all the presets I will have to reprogram everything and i sure don;t want to do that.:)
Video was perfect! Thanks so much!!
clear and concise. Thanks for that! Was wondering how that air intake was going to come off. Mine was just using a flathead screwdriver and pop it off.

Hi, I'm new to cars in general, why did you need to turn the vehicle switch on before removing and installing the new battery?
Great video Jimmy. What do you think overall about the Tucson or santa fé?
Very helpful, perfect walk through. Thanks!
Hi Jim, have a question. What size power pack do I need to use? I see 700, 800, 1000 + AMPs. Just want to make sure I have the right one.
Is it totally okay not to supply temporary power?
Thanks for the help!
Happy to help!

Thanks for the video. However,we have a problem with getting the clamp on the positive side to tighten around the battery post. Help?
So Do You Have To Back Feed iT Energy Or Is That Only For You Dont Have To Reset So Much ?

thank you!
Great video... thanks!
how much would you charge a customer for a job like this?

Will Rigsby I would like to know as well
Good question. I would also like to find out the answer to this question.
Why’s your negative cable marked up in red?
What’s the jump start box to store the memory?
Nice!
Thanks Jim
