Wow this stuff really works! I wore a casual suit today at a “business casual” company event for new hires. I was the only one with jacket and tie and I got tons of compliments and had a whole 15 minutes of fame 😂 I felt more confident and social and that attracted more convos it was fun. Keep making these vids! I can’t wait to add a flamboyant pocket square at the next event!
Good for you, Danny! I am glad to hear you are enjoying the benefits of dressing up
Surely it had to be my favourite actress in the thumbnail. She was stunnig in Casino Royal.
Thanks for the tips!
God bless you brother! I have really appreciated your videos! I am a bench jeweler and blacksmith who, while doesn’t require a formal attire for my work life, have really enjoyed dressing up modestly but purposefully whenever given the opportunity! And p.s. my wife has appreciated the style improvements you’ve taught! Haha - Ian Z ⚒️🙏
That is very cool to hear! And honestly, I respect you a lot for paying attention and focus to your style while working in such an industry. Glad you are enjoying the channel and gaining value from it
Loving the cozy casual jersey vibe 👌
My most complimented piece is a dark to emerald green blazer with peak lapels and patch pockets. Very thin and unstructured.
Details don't fit the normal style rules, but damn it just drapes so well on me as well as being unique. Gets compliments every time I wear it. Even my wife, who didn't like it initially, later confessed how good it looks on me.
I’m somewhat of a dandy and love suspenders. I have an extended collection of trafalgar limited edition braces, which I wear. All my suites are made with fishtail back and my casual pants have suspender button. While I love wearing suspenders nothing make a man look like a schoolboy more then wearing clip on suspenders and there is nothing you can say about wearing suspenders and a belt. It was nice to see someone mention them.
I agree with you, Walter, always button suspenders.
Great shawl collared cardigan, perfect color for you. Maybe an ecru shirt with it might serve.
Good suggestion - that would be a new one for me
I normally wear black or red braces - never thought of navy. So thanks, James, have now ordered a pair. Always room to smarten up a bit :) Also, I would say that one important factor when dressing to impress is to like what one is wearing. One could be given a £30,000 outfit of designer gear but if one doesn't like any of the items, one is going to feel foolish rather than naturally confident.
You also inspired me to dig out my Zegna and other pocket squares. Excitement suddenly mooted after discovering nearly all my Italian jackets had the outside pockets all sewn up :( ... :)
Want to say I'm a huge fan of your channel and have been subscribed for a few months and I enjoy watching your content grow and improve! I get 1-5 compliments a week on my tigers eye ring. It almost looks like a high school ring but with tigers eye. Never got so many compliments on a single item before! Cheers!
You have a cool, relaxed way of presenting quality content. It is not an easy job to create fine videos like you do in your effortless style. Thanks a lot!
Once again nice video!
I already told you in one of your videos! You’re already one of my favorite channels! Have a good day
Thank you very much, sir
Great episode. Textures are an excellent way to level up for sure.
Love the watch very classic and stylish. And a great story goes with it. I have a burgundy knit tie as well. Great looking cardigan too. Keep up the good work.
New subscriber here, definitely learned a lot, introduced big changes in my wardrobe. I am going for the capsule wardrobe idea, utilizing no logo clothes in black, navy, brown, dark green and white colors.
I just discovered your channel, really insightful stuff here.
Currently it’s still pretty chilly where I live, so I’ve still got my winter fit, and while it’s not particularly special, I do always get complimented for its stylishness. I wear a dark blue woolen overcoat with a faint chevron pattern over a cotton turtleneck sweater (usually black), paired with blue relaxed fit jeans and leather winter boots. The last two items may not be the flashiest but they pair well with the rest of my outfit and the overcoat and turtlenecks especially get kicks out of people, so I’m pretty happy with it overall.
I’m looking forward to your video on dressing for the summer specifically, keep up the good work!
New to your channel and enjoying it on two levels. First recognizing that I am validated as a gentleman and second that there are other ideas to explore. The pieces that I get the most comments on are a 3/4 length black coat I bought in Copenhagen and a pair Ray-Ban sunglasses.
A bold floral print neck tie worn with a pale pink dress shirt. Closely followed by a novelty dog print neck tie for visual interest.
Another great video, thank you my brother!
Great channel Good to hear your take on style.
Hey gent, I like your informative vids and am definitely taking something away from this one. I had to make sure your channel was with my style before subscribing, so as of right now I’m subscribed. Cheers! 🥂
Thank you for subscribing, sir
There’s a great cigar lounge in the west village I discovered last year. Very Don Draper vibes.
Once again a really good video💪 keep going you are great 👍
Nice video, the most complimented items that i wear are my hats (fedoras/outback/western), suspenders and my boots!! Always leather, at least 1"-2" heel, varying styles, always polished up!!
Pair a Panama hat with a suit or a trilby hat always gets you complimented. But remember to own the look be comfortable and confident.
Great video, thank you very much!
Any perfume suggestions? I find it hard to find one that stands out.
Another pleasant, informative video. And that cardigan is sharp as hell. And how nice to see Dita Von Teese featured! Are you a fan as well, or did you just need an image? I find myself nodding along during her interviews.
Woman here. I love to see a nice waistcoat.
Very good list, with excellent commentary. While I don't wear suspenders, tried by they don't fit my style, I do add a boutonniere.....especially on a winter or fall coat. A very small mini carnation, usually burgundy. Got the idea from that master of style Douglas Fairbanks Jr., whom I met at a Marcel Marceau performance when I was a very young teenager. I feel very put together, and have received countless compliments......also, impossible not to stand out, but not in a shouty way.
That's a very nice touch, and even less commonly-seen than a knit tie
@@Gent.Z knit ties are great ....a great classy standout item. I still have some, but I almost never wear a tie these days.
My black and white cap toes dress shoes…. ladies love them 😎
I only recently discovered your channel, and I have found myself very intrigued by your videos. Normally, I do not put much stock into channels like this because their “masculine advice” is usually dripping with modern, insecure, alpha male, right wing type stuff which idealizes the past, but I find your advice and attitude, very modern and quite sensible
Thank you, Nicholas. I intend for my channel to be a complete alternative to most of the 'masculine' content on RUclips, which for the most part is all the same nonsense.
Whenever I used to dress in standard American slob style (cargo shorts, crappy tee shirt, crappy hoodie, baseball or trucker's cap and trainers), it's like I was invisible to women; but since I've started wearing pocket squares with my sports coats and suits, the complements from strangers, especially women, have become almost a constant! And now whenever I walk into a nice bar by myself, it's never long before people come up to me to talk. I've been having a blast. There is a stoic admonition to improve ourselves by spending time with our betters, and dressing well allows one a passport to navigate in better circles. Clothes do make the man!
suggestion: if you're going to wear an ocbd, button one more button and roll the collar by pushing it down from the top to create the roll. if you like wearing a shirt more unbuttoned, opt for a non- oxford cloth button-down, such as a standard collar or semi spread collar.
I love those vintage watches. Discreet and stylish. The only issue is the upkeep of the movement, if you are used to the convenience of Quartz.
A Jacket and or my shoes. Always get the compliments, from men and women.
As said by another commenter, dont post so often brother! Subscribers wont click as often if you oversaturate your channel with content which will knock you down in the algorithm. Also run the risk of running out of ideas. Leave people wanting more, and you'll grow faster and earn more from your channel. I've seen the rapid rise and quick decline happen to many up and coming channels for these reasons and I'd hate yours to be one of them!I love your content, and want you to do extremely well!
Its about reach, the content is not suffering, i for one love having your vids popping up in my playlist
I get most compliments on my overall outfit but if people do compliment a specific item it is usually my shoes/boots.
May I know what kind/brand of shoes/boots you wear that get compliments?
Good quality English or Italian leather footwear, cleaned and polished. That's all it takes to stand out these days.
I disagree with Shafer. Keep them coming, please! The more, the better! Only as long as you don't burn out, but you doubtlessly understand that burn out reduces quality, anyway.
I have a frequently complimented wardrobe piece that's not only an interesting texture and an uncommon design, but also one that has a story: a green Nordstrom overcoat that originally belonged to my great grandfather.
Knit ties always get me compliments.
I enjoyed the video and really liked the cardigan! How has it held up for you? I have had bad experiences with cheap Amazon brands, so i would like your thoughts.
Also, i didn't see the green color in the link. Is it discontinued, or am i making a mistake?
Confidence is key.
Wearing a tailored suit, and a Saville row blazer
One, my vintage late 1950s "cafe racer" style coffee brown leather jacket. It honestly looks brand new and fits me like a glove.
Two, my 80s style Casio G-shock wristwatch. It's a newer version of an earlier model. I wear it in more casual settings. I always get someone who says "I wish I still had mine" or my "older brother had that same watch!" Even had a young woman once get sentimental because she inherited her Dad's G-shock but it got stolen by an ex.
Conversational gear both to be sure.
These videos are obviously made for an American audience. In the UK we call suspenders 'braces'. If a woman asked me was I wearing suspenders I would assume she was enquiring if I was into cross dressing.
As for being complimented, I'm sometimes complimented on the fragrance I waer, which is Floris or Irish Tweed.
Haha, yes the majority of my audience is American and I often say suspenders myself because I live in the US now. Very nice fragrance choices
Random people give me the most compliments on my waistcoats. My fiancée compliments me most on my footwear especially boots.
It is rare for me to receive a compliment from men or women but my double-monkstrap shoes and a pink Hawes & Curtis shirt have probably drawn the most attention.
You forgot to add a purchase link for the tie 🙂
I like that green cardigan where did you get it from ?
Thank you - the link is in the bio
I have an oofandandy Navy one good for price point . What part of the USA are you in ?
@@thewatchloungechris I think they actually are from the same supplier! Nothing top quality but nice to wear at home. I'm in Chicago
What's your morning routine? Like to see how you prepare yourself for the day. That could be great content too. Thanks
Honestly I just wake up with the sunrise, get showered and dressed and begin working!
@@Gent.Z no cold showers sir?
1. Patterned sport jacket
2. Rare and intriguing watch with a story behind it
3. Fragrance, the rarer the better
4. Textured pieces of clothing, such as a knit tie
5. Pocket square with a vivid pop of color (2 or 3 colors) that goes with the rest of the outfit
6. Suspenders (braces) rather than a belt
I've lost over 3 stone in the last year and have an opportunity to buy some smart clothes and a new suit.
I think i still have my grandfather's watch.
Quality shoes?
When you will open the ,,Gent Z Online Community" ?
It's going to take me a while to get it all ready - but I aim to do it in the next few months. I'd rather take my time and get it right rather than rush, as I'm sure you understand
@@Gent.Z Yes, rushing is pointless, take the time needed.
I agree with all points, but not the example of the patterned jacket. It looked a bit 'grandpa' to me.
Does a gentleman ever adjust the playback speed?
Flash some cash and you’ll be fine boys
It's okay to go back to suspenders, men. The days of Steve Urkel are long gone and in the past. lol
Fragrance is never a good idea; it competes with the woman’s fragrance! Antonio from Wisconsin? What sophisticated person lives where most people are focused on three things; the Green Bay Packers, beer and bratwurst… I know because I grew up in Wisconsin.
I love your channel…but from one gentleman to another, you post WAY too often. It can be a little much for a subscriber like myself!
Agreed…….. I’ll eventually stop watching because of that
I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos. Don’t feel obligated to watch every one. But for the people that like the daily uploads, I’m going to keep them coming
I enjoy them, I believe it works very well with today's consumer rate @@Gent.Z
@Gent.Z Don't burn yourself out too much either though, or run out of topics you enjoy. I know we can get passionate about something and then overdo it just to lose that interest quickly. I'm not saying this will happen, but I know I'd prefer to see you post less often while doing this for several years rather than you posting more often but only for a year or so.
I like the frequency, I don’t watch them all, but I like going back and seeing what I missed
I appreciate your videos very much
