My best buy was for a silver ring worth 120€. I wear it everyday and it is a reminder for the person I wish to be. This is not a purchase, it's an investment.

Treating my 17 year old nephew to the full weekend of the Formula 1 race in Austin, in main grandstand seats. With First Class plane tickets for us both. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Definitely!
For me a gym membership was a great investment as is a subscription to Audible. Investing in yourself is always a good thing.

Most public libraries have a free audiobook/ebook app that you can connect to with your library card if you would like to save money but still have the same benefits as audible.

At age 73, I have never ceased to read, explore and acquire comprehension. It's never too late to acquire new skills or improve your existing ones.
As a college professor, I believe in education! To learn more about the world, to improve your social skills, to understand professionalism, and to have a door open through internships can make all the difference in the world. Even a couple of years at an inexpensive community college can help in becoming a more mature adult.
Investing in education is a good tip. I got my teacher's diploma the day before my 50th birthday. Now I teach photography 📸
Photography is great. I like street photography and landscape.
Something else I think a Gentleman invests in are investments themselves. Ensuring that you and your loved ones have enough saved for you to be able to enjoy your golden years, as well as an inexpensive term policy to protect them in case the worst happens.
My greatest purchase though was a guided group trip to Peru. That was a real turning point for me. The trip itself was awesome but I grew a lot as a person the week I was there.
I recommend every investor have a (retirement) account and a "funny money" account. The retirement account - a Roth IRA in my case - is never touched, and serves as a backup if experimenting with the funny money account goes awry.
I love your videos & I’ve gotten alot out of them. I hope your channel blows up, because I feel in the current culture there is a HUGE lack of focus on men being gentlemen. There’s too much stuff about seeing manliness as being alpha.

You’ve prompted me to take my deceased uncle’s watch (Hamilton) in for a refresh and begin wearing it. I’m pleased I had the good sense to keep it.
I have a basic Rolex that I bought new in the late 70’s (when they were about $1,000) but no longer particularly enjoy wearing. They are ubiquitous but - worse - they seem to create an impression that I don’t wish to project. Not the watch to wear when shopping for goods or services, or negotiating a purchase in my view. A bit like a large Polo or Prada logo.
The old Hamilton will be more distinctive!

Beckett Simonon is made in Bogotá (Colombia). Thursday Boots are made in León (Mexico), Porto (Portugal), Alicante (Spain), and a few in USA. So they are basically cutting out the retailers and selling directly to the public. So far from "American made" most of what you get is made by old world craftsmen (and women). All of these places were once known for quality goods, now these American brands help bring some economy back to these countries and a lower cost product to you. Cheers to both companies as they offer free shipping to Canada.
You forgot the most important one: making time and having energy availble to spend with your loved ones. How many of us are so tired from working that they just sit on the couch together watching tv? Or are distracted by their phone as they cant find the energy/focus to listen attentivly. Time and energy management are directly related to how you earn and spend your money. And our relationships are one of the most valuable and beneficial things we experience in our life. Again, as you correctly point out: quality over quantity. When you see your loved ones, make sure you are really there

Watch not high class but it is a great watch.

A great conversation piece. When asked what brand of watch you have on, just say, "It's a Timex, it tells time." It will show that you are unapologetic as to what you spend money on and that you prefer function over branding. It is more Old Money than wearing a flashy brand. Nothing against the other brands, but wearing a Timex/Casio etc. is better than a fake Rolex or one of those social-media only watches.
i don't go to formal events so i don't think i'll ever need a tailored suit
Spend money on a useful education, not crap. Spend it on STEM, LAW, MEDICINE, ACCOUNTING. Not a lot of openings for experts on Byzantine literature on Indeed.
Don't waste time and money on stuff that you can read up on for free. Don't saddle your young lives with college debt for soft degrees. Get a profession, invest in high dividend paying stocks, and then you can buy the cigars, cognac, and the other stuff that starts in a "c".
I think usually a guy doesn't aspire to be a gentleman in a vacuum. I think what usually goes along with it is a financially well-off status. Therefore, I think a gentleman needs to explore what builds wealth and how to be the Principal person for his family. I would file this idea on what's inside is more important that the icing on the cake.
Today you may be right. However in the past almost everyone was a gentleman. Have a talk with your grandfathers about how men act today at 20 and 30, and you'll likely get an ear full. Historical note: A gentleman long ago was a man that didn't need to work, he had others working for him; so he was more an investor than a worker.
My greatest investment was a trip to the country of Georgia, mainly Tbilisi, Mtskheta, and the wine region of Kakheti. And hiring a tour guide and driver for the latter two was definitely the right choice.
As someone who vividly remembers the Cold War era, the idea of visiting a part of the former USSR was mind blowing.
That was in 2017. I had hoped for a return visit in 2020, but I suppose I need not explain… best laid plans and all that.

Support you local library! Central libraries have enormous selections of books including business, leadership and history. Free to take out!
It may also be worth mentioning, there are plenty of colleges that will teach non degree seeking students. Sure you may not get a bachelor's, but the institution in question will verify that you took the class with a certificate if completion.
Great point. We have such programs here, you still get degree worthy education without the degree for free. There generally is no age limit so you can learn something at 50 or 80. Also a way to perhaps interact with a younger generation, which is an education all on its own. lol

The best investments I have made have all been investing time into things, not money.
The example of meal prep services, I must disagree. I do enjoy cooking and experimenting. Meal preparation can be fun alone with one’s significant other.
Shoes, desk chair, mattress, wallet, watch, things that you literally touch every day.
Good ideas here but I think a man should know how to cook, and it has various benefits. Saves money, means you eat healthily and it impresses everyone. Especially women. Remember, even Bond can make scrambled eggs. Also knowing how to iron and doing it for making sure shirts are perfect when you wear them is essential. Getting a cleaner though, essential.

You should spend on education as much as possible because it will make you stand out from the rest of the crowd and will also help to get a more opportunities of work. Keeping yourself update to date is a must for a gentlemen.
eh, credentialism is fairly quickly being defenestrated since most "educational institutions" these days are little more than adult daycares. the papers that used to hold the key to good work are being devalued faster than a brand new car, driven off the lot and totalled instantly. at least, that's how it's going in the US, anyways.
self-education is often much more efficient in time, cost, and even actual learning.
Generally sound advice. I would be a bit careful with meal prep services though. They use a lot of plastic and what is the quality of their ingredients like? I've not tried one for several years but i've heard people say recently that they use ingredients that are not very nutritionally good for you. If you're going to use one, perhaps look into that first before thinking they're a "hack" to success with no negative consequences.
Conveniences is actually a good one and shouldn’t be controversial. Small personal example would be me buying a roomba robot vacuum for my wife. She runs a daycare and cleaning after everyday can be exhausting for her. Hiring a maid to clean everyday would be a big expense. But having a robot servant really helps cut down on time consumption. Silly example but it really does make a difference.
Yes, the rich are too busy to iron their shirts or clean their cars. Still, some may do it not to save money but rather as a form of pleasure. A gentleman needs hobbies, even better if those hobbies are useful. When I say busy, I don't mean workaholics. If you are busy at work, do you want to spend an hour ironing or do you want to spend an hour of quality time with your family?
The point Gents, finding yourself and being comfortable with yourself is not pandering to an idiot woman who screams when she can't get her own way - with you.
