    I'm 23 now, but when I was about 11 years old I would lay on the front of my parents boat out in the deep sea in Bermuda looking up at the massive clouds while they played this song. Every time I hear this song I think of the feelings I had in that moment. Made me feel like I was actually in Heaven.

    I miss this man so much. brilliant session musician, performer, singer and songwriter. An American original, talent unmatched in so many ways. In case anyone wants to pursue a music career, this is how it is done. Get really good at what you do, but please, stay off the junk.

    Chris Whitley was the first musician I met during my stint at Sony Music Germany. That was July 2nd, 1991. It was my first job after finishing my MBA and I was truly blown away by this man - both for the music and the person himself. So down to earth, friendly and kind. A true exception in the music-zoo so full of blown-out-of-proportion-egos... I still LOVE listening to his music after all these years! Thank you for the music 👍and RIP.

    good band behind Chris but i prefer no background vocals as he can handle it himself. You got to be Chris to sing Chris.... God bless this man.. God bless his music. God bless the soul that this music was born from. One in a trillion. The world never got the opportunity to experience this diamond though I am proud to have connected with Chris in the early years, Thank you!! RIP. Chris's Tragic Life screams out to the heavens and i was there to hear it.. Always in my mind. Always in my soul. Always..

    i have heard that Chris didnt really like having a band and preferred to just play the songs by himself just him and his guitar. but i love this band he had for that first album, its all sort of sparse and atmospheric and tasteful and its incredible.

    • @KatieDewitz4ChrisWhitley
      @KatieDewitz4ChrisWhitley  3 года назад +1

      Actually, Chris enjoyed playing with a band, e.g., the "power trio" of Din, the outstanding Terra and Rocket House bands, and, of course, The Vast Combo on HVH and SDS. He played solo a lot mostly because of what he called "the pragmatics": much more expensive to tour with a full band, if you aren't playing to large audiences.

      The documentary hasn't been released yet (nor actually completed, for that matter). I've seen several edits (as a contributor to the project via KickStarter). The "directors" recently turned the material/edits over to Chris's brother and a fellow musician who also has extensive film editing experience. You can learn about this and all other things CW on the Facebook group I noted in my original response: facebook.com/groups/allthingschriswhitley/
