I want to be excited about these cards, but its clear that AMD is running scared. They very clearly wanted to price these over $500, but the 5070 at $549 effectively makes that impossible unless they want RDNA4 to be a flop. Unless we get true rast performance that is near the 4080S and ray tracing performance that is on part with a 4070 Ti, AMD absolutely should make this $429 at most. They MUST be aggressive here. AMD decided to wait to show their pricing and nvidia called their bluff. AMD was likely counting on nvidia overpricing their 5000 series, which they didn't. AMD now has a chance for the final word and hopefully they have learned from previous mistakes, but I doubt it. They have a terrible marketing department. If they blow it with this, Lisa Su absolutely needs to fire their entire marketing department.

I still love the way my RX 6800 XT Red Devil looks in my build. Easily one of the nicest cards on the market. I love the fact that the entire card is metal and it has the cooling to back it up. I just wish AMD offered a 9080 XT...
You did a remarkably good job hiding the number of power connectors on the second card. Even slowed down to one quarter speed it was hard to see. Impressive.
Pretty telling on the expected power draw is that the biggest cooler model has 3x8pin and the 2 smaller models go down to 2x8pin so 75W from pci-E slot + 150W per 8pin on 2 power connector models would get us to 375W and 3 connector model 525W but because we can run it with just 2 it's likely that we are on the edge of that 375W limit when additional power budget is unlocked.
I would imagine that since there isn't a higher model in the line-up (and won't be), they are more free than usual to bin them like crazy and overclock hard. The official spec will be much lower - I believe 220W was rumoured.
@@TheTaurus104 Seems reasonable. I think the 220W was from the Seasonic PSU calculator. I thought it was the XT, but I could have been wrong, and maybe even it was just a guess/placeholder by them.
the reaper looks gorgeous. it's the xt version and it might actually fit my meshify c with a 140mm fan in the front panel. hope prices are decent. my 6600xt needs a rest.

Looking at the latest performance leaks it looks like these cards might be midrange monsters. Call of Duty Black Ops 6, 99 FPS At 4K Extreme Settings Without FSR and that is apparently with the nerfed driver so it's looking like 4080 performance.
I hope one of the graphics card OEMs make a RX 9070 XT with horizontal fins so it actually vents it's heat out of the case rather than just selfishly dumping it inside 🤞
Thanks for showing these, amazing looking cards. AMD really dropped the ball on the missed opportunity at CES tho and that is quite upsetting. I was really looking forward to a fantastic display of power to performance and was left wanting..... Thanks for the showcase.
MSI told Hardware Unboxed that they were very surprised when they saw the 5070 and 5070Ti at $549 and $749, they were expecting higher… I wonder if it surprised AMD too, cause RDNA 4 seemed to have been pulled from their CES presentation last second… AMD has no choice but to price the 9070 XT at $499

We don’t have information on how it will perform. The 9070xt should have rasterization performance close to a 7900xt and raytracing on par with a 4070 Super.
The AIB shroud designs for the Radeon cards are so much better than for the rtx cards. Too bad they didn't give us any high-end cards this time around 😅

He was responsible for the non-presentation as head of Radeon. The official reason as well as the unofficial reason are known. Also that the public will see RDNA4 soon with all the details. There was talk of Q1 at the keynote, but the actual date is already known.
If I were AMD, I'd go aggressive on pricing, even if it means a loss, because Nvidia is dominating the GPU market. It's not that Nvidia's GPUs are competitive, but the people are still buying their products. That's just reality. AMD needs their brand, and that of their board partners, to be more recognizable. I've personally heard several people saying they've never heard of PowerColor, despite that company making graphics cards for decades. It's a good brand, but not well known.
I feel if you announce cards, you should release them, or at the very minimum let the reviewers do some benchmark testing. All these cat & mouse games are bs. On a bright note, kudos to KitGuruTech on your excellent coverage of CES. :)
The 9070XT will definitely beat the 5070 in rasterization performance. It will come in range of the 7900xt. While the 5070 will be like a 4070 Super or 4070ti 12gb.
Looks very much like the 9070 family is essentially the 8800 family we all anticipated. I do not believe AMD is doing itself any favors by essentially hiding these GPUs from the public and only teasing them to the press.
Have been waiting for the 5090 in hopes of a very stable 120-240hz at 4k, have had the entire build purchased for almost 6 months now. Seeing the raw FPS in Cyberpunk
AMD got absolutely bodied with that $549 announcement. Surprised they seemed to be unaware what Nvidia were cooking up, it must have been a serious secret. These were probably made assuming $600+ 5070 and now they're in trouble.
I expect performances between 7900XT and 7900XTX in Raster, +50% in RT full and price 700€ street no more. A better choice than the 5070 and 200€ less than the 5070Ti.
I heavily doubt the 9070xt will get close to a 7900xtx with only 16gbs of vram on a 256bit bus. If they are targeting the mid range which is the 70 class that is unrealistic to expect their flagship performance. I would say 9070xt is close to or on par with a 7900xt in rasterization performance. While the 9070 will match the 7800xt.

The 5070 sits at an inticing $579 (£469) but subject to change after tax, even if it's a 12gb card this DLSS must perform wonders, and not they have to find a way to monotise the 9000 series again with prices accordingly in another time frame? Probably wont upgrade this gen anytime soon (running an rx 7800 xt), but i hope when the time comes, AMD doesn't do this again
I miss the 10 series where we could get marvels like the Zotac 1080ti mini.. or the r9 nano. These are midrange cards with ridiculous coolers and triple 8 pin power.. 😂
Yeah there is absolutely no need for these GPU’s along with the 5070 to be so freaking huge. My guess is it’s cheaper for them to reuse the same massive coolers on the higher end than make new custom cards for the mid range. They can also charge a lot more as well.
I much preferred my old Powercollor 6700xt to the AsRock 7900xt I have now. New card has way more idle power draw and even runs the fans a little when it's summer and my place is warm. Just when watching YT vids! Radeon can get F'd tho this gen, I'm disappointed in them. Also there was no Dr. in the press launch. (maybe she's disappointed too :((

Yeah so RNDA4 pulls a lot of power as well. Both AMD, Nvidia and Intel are at the level of silicon.

no it just has regular gddr6, but because its 256 bit vs 192 bit the bandwidth is the same as the 12gb GDDR7 on the 5070
