    Interesting take. Lol'd at a certain Black Widow related comment. Good video. While I've still generally enjoyed the Hulk in the films there are so many missed opportunities. And that's really the problem with rushing to the team movie format. The Hulk is a rage machine and it is that unrestrained explosion of rage that the viewer can identify with. The cathartic ecstasy of releasing that pent up anger that most of us cage throughout our daily existence. Even Ang Lee's Hulk got that right. Well, Hulk, The Incredible Hulk, Hulk vs., and Planet Hulk. At least we got those.

    4. He gets his ass whoop by Thanos easily, and never to be seen again in Thanos War.
    5. Hulk's official sequel now comes with a new female character named "She-Hulk"

    Hulk got beat by Abomination but he didn’t just give up, throw a tantrum and say Bruce should handle it. He got his resolve and started using creative ways to get the upper hand
    Why would Hulk suddenly regress after fighting Thanos? You can’t tell me he’d be okay with his allies getting slaughtered and not wanting to do anything to help, especially after he allegedly ‘matured’ during Ragnorok. That’s just character assassination because the filmmakers didn’t know what else to do with the character.
    Even the merged Brulk creates something as beneficial as a device that can make you age or de-age, yet something as groundbreaking as that gets turned into a throwaway joke like the rest of the character himself

    I'd rather they had Thanos kill Hulk in Infinity War - make it a bit more brutal, Hulk maybe makes him bleed and then Thanos destroys him - would have been better than them ruining everything about Hulk after Infinity.

    I haven't heard any theories that Marvel Studios is going to kill off Skaar when they're clearly setting up the Young Avengers, but there is a way to use Skaar to further Hulk's character. Ritson's final act in Secret Invasion is to "declare all off world species enemy combatants" as Ritson wants the government to "find and kill every last one of them." Since Ross will replace Ritson as President in the MCU in Brave New World, Ross will still work with Ritson's act especially when he finds out that Skaar was born off world. If Hulk sees the man who ruined his life attempt to kill his son, he'll finally return to the savage Hulk or unleash the World Breaker.

  • @lazylank
    @lazylank 6 дней назад

    I'm glad I am not the only one who noticed a slow, yet steady decline in the Hulk's powers and abilities as the MCU wore on. I think that Avenger's Hulk is the strongest (even stronger than what we saw in "The Incredible Hulk"). The Hulk from the first Avengers, once he put on the infinity gauntlet, would have been able to rip Thanos in half. Instead, we have a Hulk who barely survives the reverse Thanos snap.
    I don't know what Disney/Marvel's plans are for the Hulk, but I do understand the need to resolve some issues in his character such as finding a way for Bruce to be The Hulk, yet still retain some level of control. Stories require character arcs, which means character growth. You can't keep having The Hulk as a rampaging uncontrollable menace, over and over, because then the story would stagnate.
    In some of the comics, they did introduce a "Grey Hulk" which was a less angry, more intelligent, though less powerful version of green hulk. It was never really clear what would trigger this transformation, and I think the writers mostly used it as an Ex Machina to avoid the same old rampaging just-as-dangerous-as-the-enemy story line.
    It was never really made clear, but I assumed the Nerd-Hulk version we saw in End Game was a re-imagining of Grey Hulk. The movies never really explain it, but I assume that the merging of the two personas meant that both sides lose something. Hulk loses some of his incredible strength, and durability, and Banner loses a bit of intelligence and also undergoes some resultant personality changes.
    The comparison to Superman is interesting. I never really cared much for Superman, because he had no real weaknesses other than an eccentric millionaire (or now billionaire accounting for inflation), and a tiny green rock. He was boring. Hulk on the other hand, was also all powerful, but had to contend with his rage that made him a threat to his friends and loved ones as much as to his enemies. That was interesting.
    It's a shame to see Hulk reduced to just "Strong-Man", but I feel as though this was all so Disney could phase him out, without having to kill him off.
    Great video, by the way.

    I hate what they did to Hulk and Thor, Ed Norton's Hulk was great, and I can't stand what they did to Loki. Loki is a bad guy, the God of Mischief, NOT a sympathetic antihero. And I can't stand Mark Ruffalo, he cucked the Hulk long before Marvel Studios did.

    Personally i think the Eric Bana Hulk should count as the beginning of Hulks tale. And he was far more bada** in that movie... from the guy who made Brokeback Mountain.
    Seriously, is no one ever going to give Ang Lees Hulk any credit?? We got the best General Ross imaginable in that movie

    What should of happened in infinity war is that Hulk should of smashed all of Thanos' armor off before Thanos uses the power stone to knock him out. Thanos just takes off the armor in the next scene anyway and it would show how powerful the stones are.

    I prefer even the Ang Lee Hulk over the Marvel Hulk.
    I guess to fit the storyline for the arrival of Captain Marvel they had to find some way to sideline the most powerful characters, emasculate Hulk and make Thor an overweight fatass.

  • @SoulKingBK
    @SoulKingBK 5 дней назад

    I think the main problem is undersaleing his power for story purposes. So many times when ever they needed a character to have a feat they use the debasement of the hulk as that feat. Him getting trashed and helpless against thanos and never getting his angry vengeance is the perfect example.
    For some reason thors power level keeps going up and hulk got no moments where he is simply the unparrelled in his strength and rage for the team. There are so many narrative tools they could have used to keep him around his overpowered strength level while still telling a compelling story but they didn't know what to do with him. They fundamentally didn't understand writing his rage power up into the narrative, as proof of this he got his professor hulk form when they needed his strength the most. Even in the comics that is his weakest form because he doesn't have access to it.

  • @Trollioli
    @Trollioli 5 дней назад +1

    Professor Hulk is the weakest of the Hulks. It makes sense that they had more Banner and less Hulk at that point. With that said, the Hulk Vs Thanos fight should have been a much longer fight, for the audiences sake.

    When the MCU began, my own affinity for Iron Man aside, Marvel had exactly two A-list characters in their arsenal: Spider-Man and the Hulk. I really liked The Incredible Hulk, and right now the cast of Captain America 4 is the _only_ thing that has me at _all_ interested in that film. But since the first Avengers film, Hulk has been ludicrously toned down, and Marvel clearly hasn't had a game plan in mind for Bruce's future since Age of Ultron; no end goal at all. Everything about his role in that film reeks of Whedon not knowing quite what kind of arc to give him, while simultanously asking us to just sort of forget that his fundamental cast of characters from his world and his movie even exist in this universe.
    What they did in Infinity War could've worked in the end if we'd seen him come back from it in Endgame. But it's not even treated like an arc. Instead, we get an all-out brawl with all the MCU heroes, and if there's a scene with Hulk in there after showing us that he's at least physically present (thanks, Wong), I missed it entirely. THAT is frustrating as hell. In an all-out physical offensive with the atomic integrity of the universe at stake, Hulk should by all rights be the guy we see MOST of, one arm or not.
    I'm not even gonna start with She-Hulk. I got two episodes in and gave up. That ending is one of the laziest things I've ever seen; I get full-on "they're not even trying" vibes. Like...Dallas' infamous "last season was all a dream; here's Bobby alive in the shower" routine was less creatively bankrupt than Skaar's introduction. And no, you can't just kill him off and expect any of us to care about it, either. I'm not even sure I could buy that *_Bruce_* would care. "Oh, look. I have a son. Oh, look. He's dead now. Wellll...ThAt JuSt HaPpEnEd!"
    If this is the level of give-a-fuck that _Marvel_ has about things, how the hell are any of _us_ supposed to be invested in this?

    Personally, I preferred Norton's Bruce Banner. He's arrogant, quiet, and solitary. Betty's the only person he genuinely likes or will even consider listening to. Everyone else is either useful or an enemy. But he does care. Deep down. Ruffalo's take on the character is too friendly for my tastes.

    Now that the mouse owns Marvel I don't think you're ever going to see a Hulk that kills.
    What Marvel ought to do is develop a movie based on The Incredible Hulk #181 and let us have a fight between Hulk and Wolverine! This way he can kill Wolverine since he'll just mend and come back for more.
    They don't even have to follow the comic verbatim... just a knock down bashfest, hell, they could even throw in Deadpool for good measure like they did in the animated short "Hulk vs Wolverine".

    So you may not know this but I was told by several women that boys would watch hulk then use "blacking out" to excuse their rage outbursts. Which is literally what hulk represents. So they had to stop that immediately. Hulk is basically your drunk uncle. Superheroes are for children, not clear thinking adults.

    If you've read the Hulk's recent comic runs you'll truly love the character even more. The comics actually gives both Hulk and Bruce Banner justice. The Immortal Hulk run by Al Ewing is the direction Marvel Studios needs to go with the character. In that run we are introduced to the Devil Hulk. A personality of the Hulk that comes out at night and is way smarter than the Savage Hulk we all know. Devil Hulk was actually the first persona Bruce ever manifested when he was a child. Representing all the damage his father caused him. Devil Hulk is the persona Bruce feared the most. He speaks and thinks like a normal adult, but he is ridiculously strong to where Thor says he's something close to a God. And that's how that persona got the nickname of Devil Hulk.
    While people want to see a rampaging and mindless Hulk again, I want to see a smarter and more sinister version of the character in live action. That thinks before he acts and comes off as an apex predator that hides in the shadows. Like the factory scene in the 2008 film.
