      To me, it was more the feeling of asking someone how their day at work was, or even like "How did your presentation go?" Someone with a genuine interest in the business of someone else, but that doesn't quite understand the topic. It didn't feel boyish to me, it just felt loving.

      @@vintersaga2177 It definitely wasn't patronizing. The Goose Father certainly knows full well how much Kung-Fu means to Po, and would never try to undercut, or minimize that. That's what makes him a truly good dad.

      I love Mr ping so much in all three films, he is kind, caring, cheerful, thoughtful, smart, and very relatable. In fact I liked the characters in all of these films and I liked the storylines, visuals really impressed me and still do today, action was fun to. I really liked the kung fu panda films and 3 to even if that was the weakest of the lot but still ended on a decent note.

    I like to think that Shen was his own greatest enemy. The prophecy said he was going to be defeated by a warrior of black and white, Shen is a black and white colored peacock. The moment he began his Panda genocide, is the moment the prophecy was set in stone.

    • @PurpleLugia
      @PurpleLugia 3 года назад +214

      I agree. Not just the "his genocide raid influenced who Po became" point someone made, but Shen was taken down by his own cannon fire being thrown back at him and his cannon coming loose on top of him- all consequences of his own actions. Po was just the mirror that reflected those actions, and it was just coincidence that Po was a panda as a black and white animal.

    By trying to kill all the pandas, so he wouldn't be defeated by a "warrior of black and white", Shen set Po on the path to defeat him. What makes us good or bad is whether or not we confront and accept those sides of ourselves, and try to move on, choosing which side of the coin we want to land on. I agree, this trilogy is immaculate to the T, and I love it. I want more, and I’m probably not alone when I say that, but I’m incredibly happy and grateful for what we got. Movies like these are incredibly valuable, because aside from the exquisite entertainment they provide, they also send a invaluable message that I think literally makes the world a better place, and it’s a beautiful thing to think about. The fact that you can change someone’s lives by showing them a movie, when you think about it, is like listening to a wondrous fairy tale filled with happily ever afters and miracles. Especially with everything that always seems to be going wrong in the world, it is nice to know that there will always be positive in the negative that surrounds us, we just need to learn how to listen to the positive, and embrace it, instead of shoving negativity down our own throats every single day when we watch the news, or read the newspaper, or listen to the radio. Like I feel so grateful that I’m able to take breaks from my phone. I’m not the best at it, but I can take breaks for hours where I just sit and vibe, play guitar, lay in my bed and connect with myself and my thoughts, and just take some time away from the noise. I highly encourage anyone who’s struggling to do the same. Before I say more, I realize that I have contradicted my previous statement of keeping this constant stream of essays at bay, and further strengthening the validity of my statement about having a habit of writing such essays lmao 🤣
      Like I was saying before I perpetuated my essay:
      I highly encourage people who are struggling to do the same. To begin with, five minutes is more than enough to just gather your thoughts. Try to take five minutes at least every single day just thinking, instead of constantly overshadowing those thoughts with the noise that is social media, and you’ll soon find yourself in my position, “wasting” hours on end just existing, and thinking about random stuff, thinking about things you’re grateful for, thinking about abstract concepts that are beyond your understanding, yet somehow make sense, or just laying there in your bed in complete silence and/or boredom. I mentioned my habit of ranting earlier, and I wanna hear your reply so before I spend 30 more minutes writing, I’ll just close with my rant signature:

Shen is such a cool villain - never would have believed anyone could make a peacock a terrifying force! And the story about what happened to Po's family is just heartbreaking and dark AF. Baby Po is also the cutest thing on the planet and must be protected and treasured forever!

    I think my very favorite moment in this movie (filled with insanely great moments) is when Shifu gets so insanely envious of Po for achieving inner peace in - comparatively - only a hot second while the same struggle took Shifu well into his twilight years to overcome. But, like the father figure and the great master that he is, Shifu greets his student's achievement with gratitude and joy and returns to his own newfound state of inner peace. Truly, Shifu is my personal model of how to deal with envy, particularly directed at those close to you.

    Making a peacock scary, a masterclass.
    One of the reasons Shen was such a more effective villain than Tai Lung is because the filmmakers had a lot more time to establish him and give him personality. Kung Fu Panda was Po's story, how he learned Lung Fu and became the Dragon Warrior. That story was already established when 2 started so they had a lot more time to develop Shen.

    9:46 I really like this moment that Po and Tigress share that they have in common, because Po just found out he was adopted when it was obvious to everyone else, including Tigress. He didn't realize it because he'd never thought about it before and because he was too young to remember his biological parents until his flashbacks. Meanwhile, Tigress was adopted as an older child so she remembers what it was like to live in an orphanage before Shifu took her in (as a student AND as a daughter.) She has a different perspective on what it's like to be adopted, but she can relate to Po in terms of not knowing who/where you came from, but the person/people who raised you and taught you everything you know ARE your family and that's what matters.
    This message was deeply appreciated and beloved by me, because I was adopted in my infancy too. I also do Kung Fu, so that's another cool thing I love about this movie franchise!

Things like color symbolism, translations of names (Chorh-Gom prison translates to "Sit in prison," Tai Lung is "Great Dragon") animals chosen for characters (fighting styles, pattern on Viper's back is Chinese characters, Snow Leopards eat both Red Pandas and Giant Pandas) and lots of hidden cultural stuff. (the flashbacks are in the style of a traditional Chinese art. That's why they are 2-D) They really did an amazing job with the entire trilogy.
