As usual, I'll try to correct any mistakes I've made in the video in this comment, so let me know if you spot anything egregious.
    Edit: Corrections so far
    1. Bespin is playable in Blast mode, an obvious oversight on my part to claim it was only there for Hero Vs Villains.
    2. Arc Trooper doesn't switch between one and two pistols, he always dual wields, just his aim/fire rate change.
    3. Hero Showdown games don't keep going when the teams become imbalanced, I must've assumed that was the case when actually two people let at the same time.

Only thing I spotted that was outright incorrect was that you said Bespin is a Heroes vs Villains only map, which is false. Bespin is also a map in Blast as well.
(Still doesn't excuse it not being in Supremacy or something. I couldn't see it being a co-op map for many reasons but they could've totally slapped some command posts on it and turned it into a supremacy map. Why they didn't? Who knows.)

Call of dooky sucks ass just as bad even though it's not ea. Battlefield and call of dooky are a waste of money just like madden games especially these days where they could just update the rosters instead of making you buy another game at full price with the only differences being the rosters.
Call of dooky just removes weapons then adds them back in to make it seem like they're adding new shit to the game. They are adding shit to the game.... from their asses....

I think Final Fantasy XV had the best updates to a game. The game was 100% playable and enjoyable as-is without updates. They kept updating and improving the experience over some years and added the option to pay pretty cheap when it went on sale option to install a Royal Edition update for those with the original copy.
Updates should improve the original game, not fix painfully obvious issues that should have been fixed before release. I know some people complain about Day 1 patches, but there are reasonable reasons for it in moat cases. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are terrible examples though.

Good review but the hero section is really not a fair critique at all. Making all of those heroes and villains takes like months each they flat out did not have enough to add all of what you said. Ashoka and Ventess were actually on development before ea pulled the plug tho

Yeah that's why I wrote that big block of text in the video (right when I say "why not add in ahsoka and assajj ventress?), since I felt I was coming off as entitled. I do think they should have prioritized getting all of the major movie heroes in, but like I said, it obviously takes a lot of work, and me sitting at my desk bitching about it just feels pretty ridiculous in a way.

They cycler rifle shooting through shields in the first game made sense. The cycler rifle fires solid slugs. In starwars, most shields are for stopping energy, not solid objects (that’s why ships can fly through hanger shielding, or the ATATs walking through hoths shilds) so, it actually made sense if you’re into starwars lore

I'm glad you bring this up because it is the reason luke could destroy the death star. The exhaust vent thing wasn't a flaw in the design and even had shielding. They talk about it in the brief before the mission. Even with computer targeting it would have been a ridiculous shot to make. Thats why the empire didn't think some random redneck from some backwater planet could destroy it haha.
The torpedos he shoots are solid projectiles.
Also in The phantom menace the droids open up fire on the gungan's shield with lasers. and when that doesn't work they try solid explosions. A neat little detail for nerds like me! haha

A couple fun facts for BF2:
    1. Galactic Assault maps are on rotation. So if you trudge through Takodana, you get Crait and then Geonosis afterwards.
    2. Bespin is actually a map in the Blast mode.

I'm probably the odd one out when I say 2017 Battlefront 2 is easily my favourite multiplayer game ever, (although I do generally prefer single player games),
I agree the star card and weapon modifier unlocks were probably tedious to begin with, but I've played the game so much (400+ lvls on all the trooper classes) that I now only enjoy the benefits of the system, where I can play every trooper how I want to play and entirely shift my loadout of cards, guns and weapon mods mid match.
But I agree with many of your points, regarding the eras and game modes of star wars. Because of this I almost exclusively play supremacy with the republic era, and only occasionally play HvV.
I vastly prefer trooper gameplay over reinforcements and heroes as every kill is so much more satisfying when you don't use a instant kill button. so most of the time I only play troopers and just outright ignore my battle points.
Also I think you underestimate how powerful the aerial trooper (not first order) is, being incredibly manoeuvrable while having an instant kill rocket and one of the most powerful blasters is not to be underestimated.
One of my main favourite things about BF 2 is that; even my fairly restricted gameplay loop of mostly troopers in republic era supremacy, there is still so much variety with play style. I can play a heavy with an explosive sentry and a combat shield and be able to hold down a choke point almost by myself. I can put the disrupter modifier on the NT sniper rifle and run around quick-scoping people at close range. I can use the snipers shield to get into melee combat and the star card that increases melee damage and the infiltrator ability to get close range and punch people. I can use the officer recharge command and run around with a hero to give them instant ability refills to allow for incredibly powerful combinations, I can flank, I can fight head on, I can play the objective, I can go for kills and kill streaks, the incredible variety that the game offers means there's almost endless content for me to enjoy.
I just wish Dice were allowed to finish updating the game as the obvious missing heroes and maps as well as the very obvious bugs (although most of them don't affect gameplay) still annoys me

I loved your comment. I feel you deeply because when ever possible I just play HvV or republic supremacy. I just wish there was mixed era hero supremacy mode with ONLY the planet phase. I agree in the sense I prefer trooper gameplay. I never cared for heroes or villain's (though I do see the reason why people like them) because of what you said it's just instant kills done easy and IMO I always think that the original first Battlefront was better in the sense that the heroes and villain's were better when they were AI

I got this game a couple weeks after it came out in 2017 and remember it simply showing which milestone was needed right next to the achievement whether it was an emote, a weapon, a pose, a skin or anything like that
Which means they took all that simplicity out and bogged it all onto some random assortment and now you have to play where's Waldo whenever you wanna look up a milestone

I fundamentally do not get the logic behind "I don't want an Empire campaign because playing as bad guys makes me feel icky". Did you never do a Dark Side path on KOTR? Did you never play with your Decepticon toys as a kid? The Empire is a dumb bad guy faction meant to look cool for the kids, like Cobra from GI Joe. You conflating playing as a Stormtrooper with playing as a Wehrmacht soldier in a WW2 game is ridiculous. And even then, just one year after this game, DICE themselves did a really good German campaign in Battlefield V, making the argument look even more ridiculous. Also, there's literally an Empire campaign in the actual Battlefront 2 and it's universally praised.

      @kaiwilliams268 7 месяцев назад +5

This argument is poor and laced with personal biases and assumption that it actually lacks logical backing as well. Obviously, not everyone makes the same choices you do. No, I never did a dark side path in KOTR, SWTOR or any other game outside of SW that allows for the choice. I don’t even willingly pick to play as the separatists, empire or first order in this game when I’m allowed the option. I never owned any decepticons personally but the “bad guy toys” were never the protagonists in my “little world”. I avoid “evil” dialogue options in any game I play like the plague, because yeah it does “make me feel icky”. Now what? It’s irrelevant that they’re made to look cool to kids, so what if they do? It just means I look cool beating them. If you’re gonna provide a campaigner with bad guys, they either provide one with good guys as well or I’m never touching it.

Ill leave this comment here as Salt and rage bait however this is true. The original trilogy era was supposed to have more fleshed out maps reinforcements and ship phases, however they were canned because ea wouldn't let them finish it, (star destroyer interiors are found in the files and could be seen in scope reflections in the sky when the maps launched) they then made up an excuse saying those battles didn't happen in the OT. The ISB agent is made of reused padme assets, and Ashoka Ventress and coruscant we're certainly planned. The arc troopers also had call of duty style cooling when it launched

Dude the empire got shafted when you started talking about the campaign.
The higherups were rotten, yes, But most soldiers were there to provide for families, to escape crime, or to just have something to live and die for. Others believed they were actually making a difference, and on some planets, yeah! The empire knocked out some crime syndicates and made lives slightly better on some planets.
Playing as a normal, Rank in file soldier in the empire, making a difference and putting down crime and insurgents, While portraying the good that the empire DID do, would have been a hell of a story.
Yes, the empire is evil. But it's evil because of the people in charge, Not the institution itself.

The whole point of an Empire POV would be to let you play the bad guys, which can lead to a very interesting story especially with it being set after the Emperor's death with so much internal power plays with the Empire eating itself. There is such a thing as a villain protagonist, after all.
Other games did it, like TIE Fighter. It just seems you lack imagination, as did EA. Which is why they had Iden illogically become a Rebel despite being a hardcore authoritarian soldier.

I was pretty closely watching the developers and their activity on Reddit where they would regularly comment on game issues, the game and the community itself.
A fairly big reason why this game was lacking, particularly on the skin front, was because the team had to go through a ton of approvals from Lucas Arts regarding the canon of the skins itself. If it wasn't shown off in official material then it was rejected essentially. The exception to this was General Grievous' battle damaged skins, Dice was even hesitant to include Anakin because they didn't want Anakin and Darth Vader dueling each other because it wouldn't make sense. They ended up shafting the OT era because of development constraints, hence why the ISB Agent was kinda garbage and the Ewok was basically a reused asset. Its also why theres no boarding phase or anything that the other two era's had. The OT was the last major update the game would receive.
The community wasn't big on BB8 and the other BB droid, but they were added because they were easy and they didn't have to go through various processes of getting voice actors and voice lines, especially in different languages recorded. Again, this is also because the droids came about around the end of the games lifespan. iirc, one of the leads was moved to other projects around this time.

    • @Dorkaxe
      @Dorkaxe  2 года назад +8

That Anakin vs Vader thing is so stupid, oh man. Either way though, I would think Anakin with his padawan look, Obi wan with a ben skin and etc would be very easy to prove their canon..ness? Idk, seems so weird. Are you sure it was Lucas Arts btw? I don't know why they'd be so uptight about that when the lego games were doing far wackier things. I think an Empire campaign could definitely work, particularly from the perspective of clones close to Order 66.
Before Clone Wars turned it into "nah they were just brainwashed" there was an alternative narrative in some of the books where there was a bit of a reckoning with the fact that the clones were essentially slaves forced to fight shortly after birth lead by an aristocracy (the jedi) willing to sacrifice them by the millions in the name of the eternal battle between two cosmic forces the clones could care less about where it bread resentment among the clones towards the jedi and so when Order 66 came they were happy to turn their guns on them.
I think you could get an audience sympathise with a true believing stormtrooper if in the first few missions you witnessed the calousness most jedi treated the clones with, if you had to watch hundreds of preventable deaths caused by Jedi believing they knew better with 0 military training and refusing to listen to clones, if you and your corps genuinely believed the galaxy would be better off without them. You could then do order 66 and go on to fight the early rebels and the framing would be around trying to preserve this relative state of peace there had just been an entire galactic war to achieve. And then you can have a rebel campaign after to show why that world view is still wrong but without your enemies being cartoonish.
Playing as the bad guys only to defect to the good guys once you realise that it's bad to be evil doesn't make things grey at all, it's a lazy trope.

  • @sgtboom7
    @sgtboom7 2 года назад +3

The reason Battlefront 2 will always be something of a let down for me (in terms of the campaign).
Marketing: "The campaign will focus on the Empire and how they handled the death of their emperor. Experience it through the eyes of an elite imperial stormtrooper and kill Rebel scum throughout the galaxy."
Reality: Two or three missions as a loyal imperial, another where the empire does something stupid evil (Operation Cinder was a dumb thing and didn't fit the Emperor's character and no one will convince me otherwise) and Iden Versio immediately defects and you're a rebel now for the majority of the game.
I wanted to see that transition of power, the internal power struggles the Empire went through. Sabotaging other Captains, Moffs, and Admirals so that our faction's powerbase grew to be the only remaining faction while also defending and attacking Rebel/New Republic strongholds. And then taking that powerbase to Jakku for the LAST STAND OF THE EMPIRE and to see it mean nothing. But in the last moments of the credits we see something like the first inklings of the First Order or something that would've been far better then the cookie cutter crap we got. And I hated the sequels but if I was lead writer that's how I would've done it.
And when they said we would be an elite squad I immediately got Republic Commando flashbacks. I knew it wouldn't be the case but the possibility of it was enough for me to give it a shot. But no, I guess that was too much of a "gamble" or something.
Edit 1: I haven't watched the video yet I just like to write out my initial thoughts on whatever is being covered first before watching especially with lengthier videos. So If i repeated something he said, well then it was a coincidence and nothing more.
Edit 2: 9:50 Honestly wish more people would bring this up. I am sick of developer's and publisher's (and even some gamer's) fascination on graphics or a bigger play space (at least in the case of Ubisoft). I would gladly sacrifice a game's visual fidelity if it is fun and doesn't try to nickel and dime me so that I can get the "complete" game 2 years down the line. More over, a game that uses an old engine can still look good years after its launch with good art direction and the art style.
Edit 3: 41:34 So the reason why some classes feel so similar or some faction's enforcer is more powerful then its rival is because once upon a time every faction basically had the same special classes just reskinned thanks to each class of that type sharing the same abilities. It was the worse with the light side faction as before the update that added the Republic Commando, all light side enforcers were the same Wookiee. And before the addition of the Droideka, ARC Trooper, Republic Commando, Ewok, Ovissian Gunner, Commando Droid, ISB Agent, Caphex Spy, and Sith Trooper. Each faction only had one enforcer and the shared Aerial Trooper. The enforcers were the Wookiee, Death Trooper, Flametrooper, and Super Battledroid. And many of these were updated. Most notably the Wookiee got the ground pound, the Deathtrooper got his E-11D (used to be my beloved DLT-19), and the Flametrooper got a buff that was desperately needed. And lastly the Republic Commando got a much needed nerf shortly after their introduction as their Battle Focus ability used to block 50% of incoming damage and if you were decent at the game, you were basically unkillable with it active. It was better to wait out a Commando's ability rather then try and fight one with it triggered. Oh and the Droid Commando in the right hands is a hero killer since it's third strike knocks down enemies including heroes and cannot be blocked (if I remember right). Just throwing that out there because while yes it's vibrosword is a little weak, its knock down effect make it a godsend.
Edit 4: 59:34 I'm sure you'll go into further depth but I just wanted a damaged Darth Vader skin. Grievous has three skins two of which are slightly damaged and heavily damaged why not something similar for Vader? Like in Rebels when part of his helmet is cut open and his cape and armor is slightly beaten up or torn and his lines are dubbed with the original lines and some by their Anakin voice actor mixed together I don't think it's that much to ask for the most expensive bit would be the voice acting. And a second skin where Vader's suit is just in absolute shreds (like the end of Force Unleashed) you see his skin, his helmet is basically off, and he is wheezing with every breath, while his suit has small sparks and embers flowing from it as he moves about. Some also wanted a Pre-suit Vader which would be nice but I fear it might confuse the enemy if Anakin and Vader were to meet and fight and the Vader had that skin on
Edit 5: 1:11:05 If you haven't already, look up the old 2002 Clone Wars cartoon series made by the guy who did Samurai Jack. They are short and you can watch the entire series in about 2 hours I think? Maybe 3 as each episode is only about 15 mins long I think. Anyways, Grievous made his first appearance in that and it is the BEST interpretation of the character. Sadly, Lucas had it changed in the movies and then in the more recent Clone Wars series as back in '02 he didn't really know who Grievous was as a character and just gave the writers the finish concept art for him and the description of (and I'm paraphrasing) "A cyborg general that kills Jedi and collects their lightsabers as trophies"
Edit 6: Why the fuck did I make this comment so damn long? No one is going to read this and yet I'm still fucking typing! I've only done this comment format for a Skyrim retrospective that was 7 hours long and only because I'd feel silly leaving eight different comments about different points of the video! Ah who cares. If Doraxe for whatever reason sees this, good video, I enjoyed every moment of it. You're a mad lad for trying to complete as many milestones as you did in such a short timeframe, this was clearly a game meant to be played for years and years but its life was cut short with the last update. If you're some random person who is reading this firstly, why? And second I don't know, leave a like I guess, it'd make me feel like I didn't waste my time in this long ass comment.

When you talked about getting maps from battlefront 2015 into BF2 there was the issue of the original trilogy content getting most of the shine. This gave me an idea. What if the BF2015 maps were recycled and grouped up into different eras evenly while taking place at different points in the time line?? Content is content so why not get creative and not abandon the good ideas of the previous game???

It's genuinely a shame just how much potential this game had only for it to just be utterly abandoned by DICE once it reached the state it should have launched in. And considering what DICE went on to make after it's hard not to feel like Battlefront 2 died for nothing just so DICE could be "all hands on deck" for Battlefield 2042.
Which is corporate speak for, "EA wants this game out the door in a year and we haven't even finished prototyping it yet so we need every single dev working on this game so it at least resembles a finished product when we inevitably have to release it incomplete and broken."
I'll be honest I do feel for DICE in that situation but they've also demonstrated themselves to be *really* out of touch with what their playerbase wants with 2042 and several design decisions from Battlefront 2. So as far as your 3 bullet points for why this game launched the way it did, I'd really say it's all 3. DICE is out of touch / incompetent, EA is incompetent and greedy, and the AAA games industry is so obsessed with graphical fidelity that it's a detriment to both the stability and overall design of their games.
At this point it just feels like gaming is on the decline with Battlefield 2042, Halo Infinite, Cyberpunk 2077, basically every AAA release from the past several years with few standouts being broken unfinished messes with barely any actual substance to them. All they exist for is to sell microtransactions. Sure Indies are always gonna be around and some AA developers have been doing good work as of late, but I'm extremely skeptical of the future of big budget games. Battlefront 2015 and Battlefront 2 were just a sign of things to come.

Yep, very true. It's really baffling how DICE went from Battlefield 1 to this as well. I can't get over how it's just a blatantly reused formula but done sooo much WORSE. Dioxis grenades are literally BF1 gas grenades, except you can't counter them like you can in BF1 😭if you want to rip off your own series, at least do it right.

I like this game a lot. I just wish we had more Clone Wars Maps. Utapau, Mygeeto, Mustafar, Coruscant... It would've been great.
What I don't necessarily enjoy, though understand, is how much more powerful the elite classes are than the normal units. Basicly the four standard classes are mere ponds to be pushed around by everyone who got his hands on the elite units. The Wookie and the Ewok are just to hard to use in comparison to what the empire has in terms of elites, which means that the empire will win more often than not, making matches, especially Team Deathmatch, very unbalanced.
Blocking with lightsaber heroes is too powerful in duels. Basicly there is nothing you can do in a saber duel if the oponent just holds down the block button. Look at Dooku for example. He is supposed to be the "master duelant" in the game. But he falls majorly short because he cannot break an enemy block. This means that all his great abilities are invalidated as long as the enemy hero finds the block button. What good is it to have an ability that speeds and powers up your strikes for a short amount of time, if the enemy can just basicly turn himself invincible for a way longer period of time?

finally fished the video and I've gotta say great work dude. I really enjoyed this video and you made a lot of great points and you clearly did a lot of research, Like I didn't think you would have known about the parry exploit but the fact that you learned about it shows you put real effort into it. I overall think the game is a fun at times in the moment but its got a ton of bugs, exploits and just overall bad game design that makes it frustrating to play at time and overall it just doesn't have the charm of the originals. also as for the fact that you can't seamlessly go into a vehicle from on the map, that isn't an issue with the engine as previous Battlefield games allowed you to do that but they did also allow you to spawn in from the menu. dice seems to have this thing were they want to make battlefront their own thing instead of doing what the originals did and I think that hurt the game imo. also I have to add that the community is really toxic using cheap overpowered things and exploits like the Finn glitch which can basically be an automatic win on maps like naboo for the defending team.

Great video. This has been my most played game this generation, but I barely played it the first two years it was out even though I bought it at launch. Once they added the online Coop mode and offline Supremacy I was quite happy and jumped back in regularly. I mostly play single player games, but I always need an online shooter (preferably with some decent offline offerings) to lean on. PS3 was Resistance games, Xbox360 was Halo Reach and now my PS4 has been Battlefront 2015 and its sequel.
However, Battlefront is probably my second favorite video game franchise only behind The Elder Scrolls. While I had a couple notes while watching I forgot most of them when you ended with offline content because that’s actually where most of my personal frustration lies so that’s what I’m going to rant about.
First, the campaign wasn’t great but also could’ve been split screen. Almost every mission has two characters that could’ve been playable (Iden & dude, Han & Chewie, Lando & blue guy etc.). Whatever, don’t care that much as campaign wasn’t as wanted by me as just having offline splitscreen modes for friends and nephews. Yes, I’m in the 5% that still appreciate couch gaming with people (still have Super Smash parties with friends a couple times a year, which is why it’s my #3 franchise behind TES & Battlefront). However, the argument here isn’t as much for myself as it is looking at Star Wars often being more for kids and more family friendly. I grew up with siblings and in a house that definitely couldn’t afford two consoles.
So yes, there’s split screen Arcade & Battle Scenarios, but two years later when they gave us offline Coop (it’s in the fucking name!) as Attack and Defend and we can’t do it split screen was frustrating. And I’m sure kids or families would love to do that mode together or offline Supremacy could be loads of fun Versus splitscreen with still the option of cooperative. Plus offline Supremacy doesn’t allow the use of flying ships which irritates me. I know I’m in the minority with these complaints, but it irks me to this day. I still play 2005 BF2 for these reasons.
Keep up the good work and videos

Speeders got nerfed to shit sometime around mid 2019 because Hero players kept complaining about them, so instead of nerfing damage against them they cut it across the board. In addition when the game launched you could sit two people on the Z-74 speeder bike, however it was promptly removed. Even more curious is that on the Geonosis Supremacy map there is an AAT in the out of bounds section that functions exactly like classic Battlefront vehicles, where you can enter and exit at will. There are also the AT-TEs on Geonosis and Felucia that functions like this as well. I genuinely don't get why DICE was trying to reinvent the wheel when it worked perfect in the classic series.

I loved grinding to earn all the achievements, weapons and their mods, etc. I don't like that they increased this cap to 1000 - for someone with OCD like me, this is kind of the point where I lost interest in the game. 44:45 Did you know that you can use the vibrosword lunge as a movement option? Due to how they actually _dash_ rather than roll like other classes, the Commando Droid can actually out speed majority of Heroes if they know how to lunge-dash and they are also in general really good against Heroes for an Infiltration unit.
1:00:12 God I hate how they did Hero selection in this game and I'm glad I'm not the only one. But apart from the complaint, my other big complaint is _there's too much heroes on the battlefield._ Like 4 Heroes max on _both teams?_ Really? Especially on the final stage where _it's most likely close-quarters and chokepoint heavy._ My take on it would be to have like only 2 max on both teams and have it similar to the old games like you've said. Award it to the best player on the team and they can choose if they want to or skip it to the next player on the board, but If you so choose to play as a hero then you _only have 1 chance_ when you play as them. Once you are defeated as a hero, _you cannot play a hero anymore._ After all, this is a game franchise that started off as a Trooper-focused game so let it be one. Sure Star Wars is known for their iconic characters, but Battlefront is about the War in Star Wars.
The overemphasis on heroes kinda made me drop playing the game online and when I do just in co-op because I wouldn't have to deal with having to fight 4 max level heroes.
Man SWBF2 could've been good, in the words of Krennic, _"We were on the verge of greatness, we were this close."_

I don’t know how you enjoyed Crait but good for you. I’ve maxed all my trooper types and I think my team dropped both walkers once but truly I don’t remember if we got the second one or were just so close I called it a win anyway. Pretty sure it’s impossible unless the rebels (I know it’s the resistance fuck that) are the only ones playing

You could have saved 2 hours and just said this 1:22:41 to describe this game. Also, are you seriously saying the co-op is good? Brain dead AI with none of the soul or creativity that older battlefronts implemented? I know 2004 was just capture/kill post and enemies until the round finished, but at least 2005 used a clear perspective (clone vet) and took you on a journey about the events that unfolded. The story, if you can even call it that here, is an afterthought shoved in for filler to pad out the game with "content"
And whats the final consensus at end? After going through the features and what not, you seem held back on your response. It seems like the game itself was nothing more than an after thought used to promote the latest soulless nu-wars movie. Maps that don't fit the game modes and game mechanics that impede the overall experience should warrant a more heavy handed critique considering the full "experience" is found playing online against other people.
You need to state clearly if its even re-playable after all these years, and seeing the state of the game it is in now ( because online is the only thing this game has going for it), I think its OK to say this game is garbage.

    • @Dorkaxe
      @Dorkaxe  2 года назад +1

I think me liking co-op and also me not proving a final consensus/heavy handed critique is likely the same answer. I'm just flat out not that into these types of online shooters in the first place, the only exception being Splatoon. I can only go as far as to explain my thoughts on everything individually, while referencing the full picture here and there. I haven't played any CoD/Halo in the past 10 years, any Battlefield game period. I haven't played any CS games, Overwatch, TF2 and the list goes on. I don't know enough about online shooters as a whole to make such a definitive stance. It's "replayable" to me since it's just a star wars shooter. It's perfectly competent if you want to shoot things in the star wars universe, idk. How it fares overall compared to its competition is something I can't really say, but maybe that's not what you're talking about.

I'm biased as it's my main game (800 hours) but it's absolutely worth playing, playing by oneself is fun but it's probably most fun playing in group's, the competitive scene is also fun. Definitely worth playing

@@Dorkaxe That's where I was hinting at. Just because its a Star Wars game shouldn't mean people should accept the deep issues this game has as (same with the 2015 entry) a good thing. Looking at game-play first and taking note of the deep issues you mentioned in your video, it can be veritably accepted that this game is a failure just like its counter part in 2015. I don't care if the game is photo realistic or if they added a bunch of filler content, the game-play is flawed for what ever distorted identity this game wanted it to be.

Incredible review, thank you for putting so much effort into your channel, I hope you get the recognition you deserve one day. Though I disagree about the opening to your criticism of the story 🤔
You not wanting to play as the Empire is strictly a personal preference. I wouldn't fault the game for that. Yes, the Empire is bad. It would still be cool to play as them. There's more nuance that can be portrayed than you think - look at the show Andor, if you will. The Empire is unequivocally evil in the show, but it's done in such a good way and the Imperial characters are incredible. Besides the amazing worldbuilding in that show, it goes to show that the average Imp is likely not some space N@zi on the level of Palpatine or Tarkin or Vader. Maybe they had a friend killed by rebels. Maybe they believe in the ideals of security and peace after seeing the Clone Wars, unaware of Palpatine's scheming. With that in mind, I think Iden's story could've been FAR more compelling than it actually was. But she just wasn't fleshed out. Only betrays evil Empire after it affects HER homeworld.... wow.... so noble (game didn't even touch on that lol, a lot of potential was missed)
Star Wars: Squadrons actually did a way better job with this Empire and Rebel perspective lmao - which is a shame because the game fell off so quickly and it was kind of a waste. Didn't even run on my PC 😭

I had wanted to play this game since it came out, but I never did, because I was pretty sure my last PC couldn't run it. Halfway through your review, I decided to price-check the game online and got it for $4.99+tax, not even sure if it would run on my current PC...
I then played it for several hours and came back to finish your review. Your gripes are on point, and I'd probably been somewhat disappointed playing this in 2017 (+paying full price)...
But $5? After the years of improvements? I've had fun. Thank you for making this video, Dorkaxe.

The backtabomb was probably good to remove along with adrenaline stem because of there ability to do really dumb stuff like restarting gun fights on command. Adrenaline stem in particular was very dumb because you could get behind cover and one second later have all of your health back and chipped your opponent to death. The defensive tools in both battlefronts are so strong that the games themselves are balanced around how rediculess they are. Soldiers in BF2 don't has as many broken defensive tools as those were given to Hero's like FInn who himself is an outrageously broken character because of exploits and glitches in the game which completely shape how the game is played today

    4) any context regarding sidious' plan ie. how he knew anakin and padme were married?? how he knew obi-wan would happen to stumble on kamino cuz jango felt like shooting a dart?? how he knew of all the jedi in episode 3, anakin and obi-wan were the 2 out of 1000s that came to rescue him??

Personally my biggest gripes with battlefront 2 was the beginning and end. I didn't play on launch, after hearing the horrible reception it had. I feel bad for whoever had to deal with this game at that time. I got the game when the clone wars content was releasing at half price or less. When the clone wars stuff was releasing, the game was incredibly fun and the community was thriving. I remember there was an optimistic attitude about the future of the game as content was rolling in at a good pace. My other gripe was how they suddenly dropped support at the height of battlefront's popularity. When EA pulled the plug it was incredibly surprising because the game was getting good reception and the playerbase was growing. The community was so annoyed that there was a poll to have EA continue support with a hefty number of signatures. Even more perplexing, the plug was pulled to re-rout development to battlefield 2042 which released half baked at best. It's like that meme of the miner turning away from his mine shaft right before striking diamond.
