About Kuchipudi: Kuchipudi is one of the 8 major Indian classical dances. It originated in a village of Krishna district in modern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Kuchipudi is a dance-drama performance art, with its roots in the ancient Hindu Sanskrit text of Natya Shastra. It developed as a religious art linked to traveling bards, temples and spiritual beliefs, like all major classical dances of India. Evidence of Kuchipudi's existence in an older version is found in copper inscriptions of the 10th century, and by the 15th century in texts. Kuchipudi largely developed as a Hindu god Krishna-oriented tradition, and it is most closely related to Bhagavata Mela performance art found in Tamil Nadu.
About Lulu:
She was a teacher in Chinese Dance at Victoria Dance Academy in Singapore. Passionate about Indian classical dance artforms she started her learning in Bharatnatyam and later Kuchipudi from Master Hari Om.
About the act: It's about Vishnu and his wife Lakshmi.

hello all dancers who are commenting here. i'm writing after reading comments over here. some ppl are telling i'm a dancer, i've learnt both bharatanatyam and kuchipudi , difference between aramandi in different dances etc. let me clarify one thing whatever the dance form all have their respected aramandi. but if u talk abt bharatanatyam and kuchipudi then pls understand one thing there is no difference between sitting aramandi or half sitting in both the art forms. because in kuchipudi the tempo is bit fast compared to bharatanatyam its difficult to maintain half sitting. orelse everything is the same. regarding lip singing its not necessary one who can will do . how many great dancers are there who wont do lip singing so no need to point towards it. And coming back to her performance level, not everybody's body will be flexible, not everybody'd body will be co-operating. it all depends on one's structure and flexibility. dont just blindly judge on what they perform on ur capability or other dancers. appreciate her passion and interest to learn what is not there. upto how much she can do she did. just wish her all the best rather than counting her mistakes.

For those who criticise this passionate dancer, pls read my points below:-
Lipsinging is necessary in a dance drama for sure because we are playing role in there. In solo she is talking to Lord Vishnu. There you must do Abhinaya which comes from heart and soul. Video was not that clear to observe. Being a foreigner she did her best. We can give comments about Araimandi if it is a competation. We can give her a positive feedback for her improvement. She did with bhakti, this is what impress me. I don't see this now in many of us. Indians wake up for our cultures. Otherwise a day will come, where we have to fight to get it back to us from foreigners.
Kudos to you... Even Indians aren't so much passionate about Indian classical dance forms.... In Gurgaon I had a horrible experience working in a school where the so called Indian students mock at Indian art forms, not to mention that teachers encourage this as well. Unfortunately, these students end up learning nothing, not even the Western classical art forms😅
Many questioned me how could I watch classical dance for long hours.
When they watched Gopi Krishna
dancing Jataayu vadha from Ramaayana,.they liked so much can't mention.
Lyrics should be in a simple language capable of understanding.
Should be in touch with the art from
Teen age.
Parents should encourage children.
Public gives importance to that field where there is huge potential to make money.
We are not coming across classical
dance on TV or in the cinema shows.
Govt.ment is not interested in
Promoting.
This classical dance form is very rich it should be preserved and pass on to the future generation.
It can't be revived if it is ignored.

Dance belongs to partially sleeping style of God Ranganatha, shreeranganatha pattan , Mysore and Anantha padmanabha temple Travendrum. In kannada Malagiruvana Ranganatha.
Hi... super performance🥰😍. We are in states. So my Daugherty used go to classes in India. Now she is learning by seeing RUclips. So my small suggestion is should have to take full video. We can see either hand or legs moment🙂. Otherwise this video would have be a good guide to my daughter

Undoubtedly she is dancing immaculately without any glitches like an angel but she could have draped an authentic Kuchipudi attire to bring in more resident feels.... Also she needs to be more flexible, needs to look in to some Adavus and aramandis which are unique to this repertoire only... Of course each dance form is unique in its own way... But when she is adhering to this form she needs to be more fluidy, flexible, lipsing etc.... Sorry if I hv said anything wrong... But i watch performances live, so found these shortfalls
Raja Sekhar CH let’s not forget the fact that being a foreigner she is learning and performing indian classical dance which Infact is dying in our country. Sad though. I think it’s not right to criticize or judge an artist because every artist is different. Let’s appreciate and encourage and not judge
This dance number originally choregraphed by Guru Vempati chinna satyam and performed by dancer Sobha Naidu was a big hit. My mother requested sir to teach me and guruji came home when he was in Mumbai for a show.

@@namratadhawan7487 Dear Namrata, better keep those lessons with you and study the matter in my comments, it was neither criticism nor demeaning her...it is to bring some more grace, life, feel etc in her performance...actually fine arts especially in dance and music criticism brings quality...by the way how good are in dance forms and how many lives shows of dance experts you have witnessed? I had seen the live performances of great artists in all dance forms and interacted with many of them...in a true spirit, all upcoming performers should be correcting themselves by looking at them and bring more justice to the form, rather than just uploading the videos in social platforms, which is common now a days...please rephrase your words before jumping on to some absurdities...even there are so many foreigners whom I know and seen across who give more justice than many of our Indian artists...so what is important is the involvement, dedication, devotion, continual improvement, self intuition, self correction, inspiration, admiration and above all attitude is what matters for any artist...but I didn't comment on her for lack of any of these rather I was cheering her up

Good trial.But whatever the costume you have worn is very similar to bharathanatyam costume.You have also cofused during 3:50 and did whatever that comes in the next charanam.This is comment is not to point out your flaws but make you to realise your mistakes.Anyway,congrats dear :)
The videographer needs to improve. This accomplished dancer could have been better served with a better videographer. You cannot see the dancer partially most of the time.

Hello mam sorry to say this I found something missing in ur dance performance actually in kuchipudi we have to sit in aramandi position that armandi sitting position is main thing in kuchipudi that is also the main difference between bharatanatyam n kuchipudi u were not in sitting position at all n plz do lipsing also and hand gestures should be little bit neat n clean so that others also can understand what u r telling about. Thank you

khyati reddy let’s not judge and criticize. Instead appreciate the fact that being a foreigner she is learning performing and promoting indian classical dance in china. Perfection lies in Imperfection. We are humans. She is highly educated and successful lady. Dancing is only her passion and not her bread and butter. I salute her passion and inclination. Words of encouragement will motivate her further to work harder upon herself as a dancer
Forgotten some steps and no flexibility
Anu Radha it’s not about just technical aspect. Let’s respect the fact that being from a different country and showing interest in classical dance form and trying her best to promote indian culture. Dancing is not just about how technically good you are: it’s art and done for passion. I think she was brilliant. Salute and respect to her passion. Let’s not criticize because she put in her best effort
