      Wrong, the Korean TEAM Pyosik played with won worlds. You could convince Faker to play with an LCS team and they’d probably shit on every other team in NA, but when they made it to worlds they would lose because it would literally be a 1v9. Huni also played on T1 and when he came to NA he was ok, but the team he was on still sucked.

    • @shemsuhor8763
      @shemsuhor8763 Год назад +9

      @@xv_thedevil CoreJJ won worlds, too. It's not an issue of individual player skill and it never has been.
      edit: hmm maybe I should qualify this. There might be a better average player in Korea, or the best player in the region is directly better than another region, but what I mean is that several of the teams and players NA has sent to worlds had the players to win (or players who are damn good or good enough) - they just never have the "team" as a whole, whether that's all 5 players on the same page, or the mentality, or the ambition - I don't really know. Competition is weird. Look at the NHL right now and you'll see two teams nobody would've felt good about betting the farm on a month ago competing for the final.
      Watching MSI for example was very interesting. Nearly all the NA teams jumped out to leads early in several games, and then pissed them away. And then their mental was completely broken and they'd get annihilated after that. They obviously do have the player skill to win games, but there's a secret sauce that's missing there. Whether it's WAY MORE PRACTICE or something - unsure. Very well could be. Being young and having a hundred thousand dollar paycheck in Los Angeles probably gets a person thinking a lot less about practice time and a lot more about... literally anything else.

    Dom pointed out the biggest problem at 5:45. Fact is, much like minor leagues in other sports, you're not supposed to make money on it directly, it's supposed to bulk up your main team. Problem is, NA Academy is at odds with imports. You give teams a choice between taking a gamble on semi-proven regional talent, or more proven international talent, they consistently choose the latter. If Academy isn't being used as a direct pipeline to put players into the LCS, then it serves no purpose

    while developing players for your own team is surely a point, its actually decent as a financial strategy too:
    have players actually improve in acadamy, bring one or 2 in to your pro team every year, alongside 2-3 good players with experience.
    if the team is decent, you can then sell your players at a decent value.
    selling them directly off of academy is obviously not as easy, but if the tier2 scene was any decent and the buyouts not as crazy it'd even work on that level that you sell your academy player at breakeven and make money with the players that you promote each year

He has misrepresented the financial situation, doesn't understand that Revenue =/= profit, doesn't understand the idea of expense. He has put his ideology ahead of the interests of either the LCS PA or the NACL, and just wants a Labor vs Capital showdown. At the very *LEAST* if he didn't go to Liftlift with the demands before hand-- and the other major players and team leaders in the LCS-- to get their take, even if he went against some of them, he deserves to be canned. These demands should have been floated *as part of the walkout vote*. That's how you do this stuff. Aram's an absolute doorknob of a PA Rep. Fire his ass, get a labor lawyer to replace him, get some rational demands-- fulfillment of summer 2023 contracts, a guaranteed seat at the table for Tier 2 league discussions-- and try again. Doublelift didn't end the LCS PA bargaining position-- Aram did. Either you hold each other to the agreement or you renegotiate a new one and everything is back on the table IMHOI, is always give and take. The teams knew what they signed up for and took a risk when buying the spot, like any investment. Now as things go downhill they trow the challenger players and teams under the bus. What makes it even more ironic is that the so called low return on investment of the challenger teams is mainly due to teams own doing.

    LCS : the tier 1 teams are doing airport speed runs every year and we’re pumping money into them constantly…. Hmmm if our 1st seed teams are this bad I bet the academy has no future. Just scrap it, it’s not like their talent deserves the amount of pay.
    LCS players who just collects checks and never improved their standing in worlds since season 4 : WALK OUT! WE DEMAND OUR FREE CHECK it’s ironic that Doublelift says the whole situation is messed up that they’re scrapping tier 2 scene but right after that statement he says the players just don’t care. Why would the people funding the money want to fund it if the players themselves don’t care. NA mentality goes dummy in these situation. “I don’t wanna try and care but I still want my free handouts” I would laugh at the demands less if they actually performed at all. “300k minimum for each team” what the f? Face it league hype is dying in the west because the players just feel a wall in skill diff verses the east and lose enjoyment in playing. Especially for the pros. “Dude I try so hard and my best but every year we can’t win 1 set either than wildcards…” in LPL LCk pros stream constantly showing their soloq games. Where’s the LCS players? Yeah not streaming because they know they’d be made fun of or they’re playing different games. They’re asking for money and resources they don’t deserve. Preform and then talk… atleast have a close series and ask for money. So shameless going 0/3 every year and demanding it.

    There is so much to be said about whats happened to LCS. First there are way more competitive esports games out now then there were when League started getting big so there are more options for people to play now. League games are WAY too long, and so new players are more likely to not play or not play ranked, this leads to less and less players every year coming into the game. This means talent isnt here anymore. When there was the challenger scene with the possibility of earning a spot in the LCS there was a REAL reason to want to climb the ranked ladder to potentially get onto a challenger team. Also with relegations there was real fear that you could be out of the league at the end of the year which lead to teams attempting to put together the best team possible each year. The fear of being homeless as Dom mentioned was there. I think that making the challenger / amateur scene a tourney scene is actually a really good idea. I think that making more international tourneys with smaller teams is what made League so much fun to watch back in the day. Maybe they could try that with the Tier 2 leagues and maybe you might see viewership go up. Also with more international play you might see players skill rise.
