Can I just say a big Thankyou I’ve just started out learning my arpeggios. Looking through these videos I can see You guys have put together some really great resources here that I’m sure will benefit so many people like myself. Awesome!!
very helpful i started off with an arpeggio style and got stuck to it but always felt i will nevr be a good guitar player. you guys shows a different way. thanx
@@seandaniel23 It's the combination of you two guys. I have never been more optimistic about learning how to play guitar as I have been since finding you two.
such a great straight to the point lesson, i consider myself an intermediate but going back to the grass roots levels makes things crystal clear thanks again Sean
Hey man, great video. I'm looking forward to the entire series. I've been in a wicked rut for like two years and this first video has already opened my eyes and mind a lot. Thank you.
I love the story about the guy at the coffee shop with the books :) I'm 1.5-2 years into studying, and I realized the importance of arpeggios a couple months ago - mind blown.
I had the realisation that you can "memorize" pretty much every seemingly complex scale and arpeggio by breaking it down into a pattern of a few notes and transposing it down rather than drilling all the scale diagrams into your head. Then I found your channel, if it had been the other way around I think I would of progressed much faster. I can't believe the whole concept of chunking in this way isn't taught by everyone because it makes so much more sense.
I've been playing for thirty years in singer songwriter rhythm style. Now finally decided to branch into some lead stuff. And I can say as a scientific fact that Sean rocks >>> hard !!!
I mixed some pentatonic and my own flavour of play'n in there and came up with some nice sounds. I find more to play when I can actually figure out how the guitar actually functions. I'm probably going to watch and play this a hundred times until I get it.
Sorry If I made you self conscious. Just having fun. Your videos are great the way they are and I'm watching them because they're informative and fun. I've been going over "chords" and "modes with friends" regularly and I'm sure this series will be great too. Looking forward to the next one.
sean, you're a true artist.you may seem cocky, but it's o.k..you're americans, but us are huge and yet you know eachother-stich for example.yeah, the world is shrinking, but still...love it and your lessons are nice.stay safe and well.greetings from adriatic coast,sLOVEnia,eu
This is the video that i've been looking for. Beginner Guitarist here. Argeggios were concept where I think I understand them but could.never really understand it in practical terms. This video has really opened my eyes. Will try getting a backing track and practice the 1, 3, 5 notes. Would it be good practice to try Argeggiate? over simple nursery rhymes?
Might have been a good idea to put the basic arpeggio video at the beginning of this series or to place a link of it in the description (even though it is fairly easy to find).
Hey man, another late comment, but which books would you recommend for studying arpeggios like you talked about in this video. Or just some good general theory books. Really appreciate all you're doing, thanks
Not sure on arpeggios honestly but this book helped me out a lot: www.amazon.com/Berklee-Music-Theory-online-audio/dp/0876391102/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1486481638&sr=8-1&keywords=berklee+music+theory
Sean you mentioned he was carrying some kind of big grimoire book he was learning from. Can you tell us what book it was specifically please. I want to have a read at this magic book and see if I can learn a spell or two from it myself
you're right about the pinky, i broke my metacarpel and it mate it all derpy on guitar, have to retrain it all over again cause its changed the angle of my pinky, super frustrating and ive got lazy using the ring finger now but im tryna train that lil guy back up hahaha
I believe Justin was using one of these: www.amazon.com/Guitar-Grimoire-Exercise-Book/dp/0825835658/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1517927048&sr=8-2&keywords=grimoire+guitar&dpID=51CJzjnItAL&preST=_SY291_BO1,204,203,200_QL40_&dpSrc=srch
Hey Sean is it necessary to learn how to read music ? Or just learning the practical music theory could be sufficient ? And I love your videos! # kudos!
I’m sure this is a dumb question but. For me to learn arpeggios all over the neck of the Guitar, wouldn’t I have to know the chords they come from as well as the notes of the chords? I hope this makes sense to you. Heck I hope it makes sense to me tomorrow when I’m not so tired. Thank you.
it's the same shape for every minor key. the major shape is the same for every major key. the key word here is 'shape'. it's not the exact same notes, its just the same shape / intervals.
Awesome Leeson I Use My Pinky all The Time Playing I am missing Half of my Index Finger I Had to relearn How To Play After I Lost It I Record I Play Live Shows The Only People That notice That I Play With 3 Fingers Mostly Are Guitar Players LOl Keep On with The lessons They Are Awesome Check out some of My Music Dirty Mind Detroit
Great question. For my money it's learning how to build chords one note at a time using the major scale. Once you fundamentally get that, I think a lot of everything starts falling into place.
Best teacher on RUclips I’ve found so far, simple to understand, no click bait, straight to the point, well organised.
Thanks so much!
It's a good feeling when some months ago I couldn't fully grasp this concept, but I'm back and get everything.
IKR
Me too
You are probably the best guitar teacher I've listened to. Your so chill, and you know what people want to do on the guitar. Thank you!
Thanks so much!
You should use food in all your collaboration videos! Really adds another dimension to it!

Keep it rockin!
Great teachers, great dynamic - very valuable for me, thanks!
This was the best introduction to arpeggios ever done here on RUclips. Thanks!

I hear ya! Everyone learns in different ways but this was always the best way for me to think about it.
Alright I'm in! Another useful lesson. Thanks!!!
Happy to help! Thanks for reaching out man!

Such a good teacher....love how the minor arrpegieo sounds
Thanks for the lesson guys ... and the inspiration !
You guys really take the mystery and as Sean would say, THE BORING out of the basics. Thanks much.
Great lesson - can't wait to see the next one
Today is the day!
I've been playing for thirty years in singer songwriter rhythm style. Now finally decided to branch into some lead stuff. And I can say as a scientific fact that Sean rocks >>> hard !!!

Be aware the consequences of the D-word around the wrong person.

Great lesson, as usual. Now we only need a version of this lesson for the lactose intolerant ;)
I think we might have soy lattes next time.
Pretty chessy but I liked it.
Hey oh!

I mixed some pentatonic and my own flavour of play'n in there and came up with some nice sounds. I find more to play when I can actually figure out how the guitar actually functions. I'm probably going to watch and play this a hundred times until I get it.
Awesome, thank you guys !

Sean Daniel definitely Matt Damon
Might have been a good idea to put the basic arpeggio video at the beginning of this series or to place a link of it in the description (even though it is fairly easy to find).
Good call, thanks for the feedback.
Many thanks for this.
Happy to help!
Very nice video; you guys need to put out a book, or do you have one to recommend.
We're actually talking about making a more in depth all in one series so stay tuned!
Superb
Hey guys..Thanks for slipping in a little Zep knowledge! Play on!
Will do David!

Sean you mentioned he was carrying some kind of big grimoire book he was learning from. Can you tell us what book it was specifically please. I want to have a read at this magic book and see if I can learn a spell or two from it myself
There’s a whole series of guitar grimoire books by Adam Kadmon. Musicians Friend used to have them. Some DVD’s also.
What Taylor is Justin playing? It’s gorgeous 😍
It's a Taylor GA3.
you're right about the pinky, i broke my metacarpel and it mate it all derpy on guitar, have to retrain it all over again cause its changed the angle of my pinky, super frustrating and ive got lazy using the ring finger now but im tryna train that lil guy back up hahaha
Justin. Would you explain the difference between a, "fretboard" like you have in the title vs. a "fingerboard"?
Great video, Sean. I'd like to know those books for further understanding. You mind posting?
I believe Justin was using one of these: www.amazon.com/Guitar-Grimoire-Exercise-Book/dp/0825835658/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1517927048&sr=8-2&keywords=grimoire+guitar&dpID=51CJzjnItAL&preST=_SY291_BO1,204,203,200_QL40_&dpSrc=srch
Sean Daniel I really appreciate the response and many thanks for all the great content! I'm learning a lot.
Hey Sean is it necessary to learn how to read music ? Or just learning the practical music theory could be sufficient ? And I love your videos! # kudos!
I don't think it's necessary at all. Especially for guitar players. Depends on your goals of course, but I've never found it to be helpful.
Do you do lessons Sean?
Do you have a web page that I can join?
I’m sure this is a dumb question but. For me to learn arpeggios all over the neck of the Guitar, wouldn’t I have to know the chords they come from as well as the notes of the chords? I hope this makes sense to you. Heck I hope it makes sense to me tomorrow when I’m not so tired. Thank you.
Well the great thing is you learn one chord, and the arpeggio will give you the notes for that one chord starting on any of the 12 notes.
I laughed pretty hard when you brought out the cheese plate
One should use the pinky always when attempting to show etiquette when drinking tea from a tea cup. Just FYI.
I'm a beginner, i wanna ask, are we can do this arpeggio and do the chord transition using the Circle of fifths?
Finally made it got my title back
#1!
Power to the pinkie!
do you have a tab view, i find it a bit fast to see and hear ~ and i find it a bit confusing to be switching between major and minors
I don't have any tabs as of yet but we'll try and slow it down! Thanks for watching!
So that's the reason !
Yup!
subscribing...keep filming! :)
Before 10k!👌
Thanks for watching!
Leggo my 'Peggio.
Sean and Josh
Is the (A minor) running arpeggio pattern the same in another KEY? Like, say the Key of "G"
it's the same shape for every minor key. the major shape is the same for every major key. the key word here is 'shape'. it's not the exact same notes, its just the same shape / intervals.
Sean, what guitar are you using here?
That's my Cordoba C7!
ourpeggios with friends 🍷🧀 🤘👏
The only way to enjoy responsibly.

If Django can do it with two and a half fingers so can you!
I think there's lots of times that you use your pinky in life, like when sipping tea with the queen.
classy.
Or when going deep into the nose...
Hi Sean..greetings ..I am back to learning soloing watching your lessons..could you please provide tabs also..that we be good. Thanks
I'll try to! I'm sorry for the lack of tabs :)
You guys were the only good thing about working at Starbucks, LOL!
We miss you man!
Arpeggios fan right here...they are like kalimato olives on a boring salad
Couldn't have said it better myself :)
what is the most important thing to learn in your opinion?
Great question. For my money it's learning how to build chords one note at a time using the major scale. Once you fundamentally get that, I think a lot of everything starts falling into place.
thank you good advice, what about scales? i know my pentatonics but which do you think is most important, thank you for replying also :)
Hey Sean, let's become friends so you can make the "Learning how to be mediocre at guitar with friends" series!
It'd be a short series because you'd become a master!
Sean Daniel There it goes, another project of mine that fails!
Hey Sean. "Totally agree with your reply to this moron." Unfortunately the world is full of idiots like him!
Sean your little brother seems cool, is he gonna hang out with us more?
Oh yeah he'll be back!
Idk why but I feel like you 2 came from the late 90s.
Not untrue :)
