Its funny you say that. I often think that Humans are too vein to realize that our whole existence has been fabricated to serve the select few that rule in the same way these lobster do. And yet we in america still exclaim "we are free" and who knows. We could be used to fuel other economies we dont even know exist
dieselbiggins I wish there was a community of videos just for that kind of perspective. It's such a cool perspective. Those fish look like they've got an entire world in there.
I am using aquaponic method as close to the natural bio-filtration system. It is different than mechanical filtration system that regularly remove waste from the water supply to make the pond clean .This Bio-filtration systems will leave the waste in the water, but convert it to a less toxic nitrate that is safe for the lobsters.
Actually it is the beneficial bacteria that produce the nitrates. As the waste decomposes it produces ammonia, which a set of bacteria turns into nitrites, and another set turns into nitrates. However nitrates are still harmful in large quantities, the reason why yours works is all those plants and the algae on the sides use the nitrates as a fertilizer. So you keep putting in food they will keep thriving.
(they appear to be "Crayfish" as I've known them... Are the "Freshwater Lobsters" different from what I see in streams and creeks, called Crayfish/Crawfish?) I often considered using them [or _now_ after the video, I'm leaning towards freshwater lobsters] in a sump tank below an aquarium, so they don't eat off my fish.
I have no idea how good this setup is but wow ! It looks bloody gorgeous underwater. I wonder if the wee fish and the lobster(s) appreciate it. Nice work man keep it up.
It's just been running for a while. I released our last Yabby into the wild today. You can see it right at the end of the last video about collecting seed from the container lettuce garden,,,may interest you to see it be set free. Cheers Marty Ware
Did you buy all those guppies or do they naturally breed easily in this environment? It seems like a great place to breed with the low/no water flow and lots of structure; however, also the crawfish/lobsters that are going to eat them. Just curious, do you buy in bulk or do they keep breeding themselves?
It was a few years ago I put a few of crayfishs ,guppies and gambusia together and they breed quite well..The mixture of plants ,fish and crayfish just nice and makes water so clear biologically. This is an impromptu video i made just for fun ...but now im quite shock with the numbers of viewers .LOL
just a tip. Be sure to monitor the acidity in your water. Those cinder blocks contain alkaline that overtime will leach into your water. When the alkaline builds up enough it will kill everything in your pond. I learned that the hard way. It would be better to use something other than concrete or cinder blocks. Natural rocks work great.
nice set up. my uncles used to keep yabbies stacked in a fish tank in my grandparents backyard to keep them alive a little longer before eating. they were not happy about it. bogan life Maroubra. im glad your setup is so nice. enjoy the eating!
ruclips.net/video/Gf4QaEY7KUg/видео.html this setup was originally for my tilapia...after the first harvest i decide to grew lobsters as they have less problem compared to the tilapias
Great set up! Great use of the cinder blocks. Unfortunately, I have about this many in a 10 gallon tank and I found this looking for DIY crayfish hides but apparently no one is dumb enough to their blue lobsters get out of hand like I have. They got along insanely well for a few years [multiplying and multiplying] until the original queen died and I was stupid and stirred up the muck in the bottom for some forgotten reason and now just about every mid to adult sized lobster is maimed in one way or another. I haven't ever vacuumed because I don't know how to avoid killing the babies. Because of this I also don't do water changes which proves that these guys can live just about anywhere that isn't outright toxic. The water is finally under control and clear and now I am looking for hide ideas. I was balancing subway tiles on rocks to create levels but one collapse too many told me that the next could end in injury and to stop risking it. 10 gallon tank-20-30+ visible crayfish and countless fry (sea monkeys). Because they don't share space after a certain age I have a lot of wasted space using traditional aquarium fish hides and would like to start over. How can I avoid pouring babies into my plants when recycling the water? Any suggestions on how to house this many while utilizing the space individually? Now that many are injured [the fighting stopped long ago] I am going to have an even harder time trying to give these homes-and I never asked a fee but got no takers. Not even from fish stores. So until I can rehome them I need help keeping them safe.
Beautiful shoot, beautiful setup, but was going a little to fast for my liking of course I wanted it to last much longer such an intriguing thing to watch. Hope you do more of these but next time please slow down, take your time. Thank you for posting and sharing and a job well done. Hope you shoot more and update us. Hugs from Texas ❤
Beautiful underwater video. If you only had a light on the camera for shots with the lobsters retreating. The large amount of guppies at different sizes, the moss on the cinder blocks/lobster dens, gives it a oceanic vibe. Was that a Go Pro you used?
dkmorbid otaku no... breeding lobsters in captivity requires you to make the lobsters believe they have migrated ..sometimes thousands of miles... whoever figures this out will be quite literally a billionaire. ...
They can and they will, but I highly doubt it here. They have so much space and ✌🏾apartments ✌🏾 there probably aren't any problems outside the occasional male fighting for one particular female. This setup is as close to manmade perfection as I've ever seen as far as space/surface area/hideouts/food is concerned.......I'd bet they worry more about keeping the pH and temp right over them cannibalizing each other to oblivion 👌🏾
That is a very cool setup i wish i could have something like this :) Are the lobster a special bread? I love the blue/green colors! Thanks you so much for sharing!!! New sub hopping to see an update soon :)
One of the more interesting videos Iv seen of the like. Worth taking a look at and I want to understand it more especially why the little fish are so abundant.
"hey ya'll want lobster?" "Sure let's go buy it. It will be expensive because there is alot of us.. " "nah just follow me" *_takes them to backyard_* " Choose one!"
Everything in this pond is nice except all the bacteria and fish waste that's at the bottom of your pond you can see a great example of how bad it is if you go to 1:58 in the video
You see every one of them back up at the sight of the GoPro like "Noh. I've seen what happens when shit gets stuck in here. Uncle Lonny just disappeared 3 days ago when that shit came around." - I'd be way too inclined to convince my drunk friends to let the lobsters pinch them which I feel would disrupt their sanctity. As much as I like to see humans suffer - a Lobster farm may not be for me.
We put one in our aquarium from a local pond for awhile. Fed him chicken and hot dog scraps. He gave us sea lice, which apparently is a good thing, then we released him back into the wild. Although he escaped the aquarium undetected and was found on the other side of the house in a food closet!!! That is what led us to his earned release.
As a fellow fish guy, I absolutely loved that set-up. I would give anything to live in a climate where I could do similar. Well done my friend.
@Idk__ You told me didn't you. I'll just go build an addition to my house, or pit up a greenhouse in my nonexistent yard. What a dickead.
It's amazing how small life can be. To these fish and lobsters, this is their entire world, right in your backyard.
and then on a plate
Its funny you say that. I often think that Humans are too vein to realize that our whole existence has been fabricated to serve the select few that rule in the same way these lobster do. That is just sad.
Sebastian Pokowski shut up hippie
TheFaithtrix Agreed. if I was a lobster I'd love it. I'd be Fucking in no time.
Sebastian Pokowski and why is it sad?
carnivores
Am I the only one that felt like I was In a helicopter flying around an alien city? Lol great job by the way!
dieselbiggins I wish there was a community of videos just for that kind of perspective. It's such a cool perspective. Those fish look like they've got an entire world in there.
For some reason the soundtrack from the movie Jaws was playing in my head as the camera was moving through the water.
Ommmm that makes sense . there was a scene in jaws that was entirely underwater like this.
you just increased the watchability of this video 10 fold
are you on acid again ?
that was brilliant , you just stuck my head into your pond
Umm i think you meant an water proof camera
+mario alejandro it was meant as a joke lol
+mario alejandro goodjob lil buddy if u didnt correct him then the world woulda ended you sure did a good deed there fuck boy

do these reproduce fast?
+Mario Velasco 5 to 7 years to reach maturity usually around 5000 eggs said older ones can have 100,000

Lmao! The lobster at 1:22 is so adorable!
Wow! I have never seen so many guppies in all my life, I could spend all day looking at them.
Idk how I ended up here but this was oddly satisfying
Yes, I was watching Ricky Fowler hit a driver out of the rough.
I have no idea how good this setup is but wow ! It looks bloody gorgeous underwater. I wonder if the wee fish and the lobster(s) appreciate it. Nice work man keep it up.
didn't realize I was about to take a ride on the magical school bus
LOL.
For some reason watching them run away backwards was hilarious to me
"AH WHAT THE HELL IS THAT! IT'S A MONSTER!"
*moonwalks away
to me it was depressing : ( poor fellows about to be killed
You gotta kill the mood. Keep it to yourself.
well, it's probably the weed.
What a wonderful underwater tour of the Yabbies
Happy Gardening/ Farming

Hey Marty, you look like flea from RHCP lol
I don't know if u can help me take me lectures on crayfish raising I'm very interested.
I want a backyard pond like this
Rathamany Sin its rather easy depending on the weather conditions and the fish you put in
Rathamany Sin goodluck with the mosquitos
Lytnil Mcking with some small fish thats not a problem
Calling bullshit. No big red barn. Definitely not a farm.
subseven there are other terms for a farm you dingus
subseven yeah and those lobsters are probably paid actors too
That lil fish too ^
And my lord where are the TRACTORS
Ethox Maxwell dude he was being sarcastic... Cant you tell?
I envy you so much. I wish that I had a setup like this.
Kudos to you on a job well-done.

@@lapitolkokamkokam3073 can you produce a lot them ( for eating) using this method or just a few?
Guppies breed very easily, they’ll literally breed in a stagnant puddle of water in your backyard
Those lobsters aren't going to catch any of those fish unless that fish is already dying.
@@wierdsnake I guess you have never kept crawfish...
Great video, I especially like the chase scene near the end.

most amazing backyards ever

cheers cool tour and hows the pond now in 2021?
I can't help but make the submarine sonar ping-ping sound while watching.
Great set up. I'm jealous.
Moon walking there asses off
I laughed way too hard at that.
Cel Asegamay Their asses, dumbass.
This guy has a mini city of lobsters and fish in his backyard.... I've never been so jealous and amazed at the same time lol

+lapitolkokam kokam Do you filter the water through a plant bed, as in aquaponics, or lobsters only?
+lapitolkokam kokam hey man what did u use for filtration?
What species of lobster ar u growing in this video?
there crayfish not lobsters but there related to lobsters, insted crayfish are smaller and there fresh water
epicgamer10105 nope these are not crayfish
Still one of my fav videos of all time on RUclips. Can you please do an update?

District 9: Part 2
It's pretty rare nowadays to see good quality underwater camera footage
Beautiful shoot, beautiful setup, but was going a little to fast for my liking of course I wanted it to last much longer such an intriguing thing to watch. My first reaction when the camera dive into the water was holding my breath. Brilliant!
It's like an underwater city. :D
this is the coolest video i've seen on RUclips in a while. Great set up.

yes it is go pro..love it so much
Do they breed/multiply?
dkmorbid otaku, I would also love to know whether or not they multiply
dkmorbid otaku no... breeding lobsters in captivity requires you to make the lobsters believe they have migrated ..sometimes thousands of miles... whoever figures this out will be quite literally a billionaire. ...
elementaleighteight so we just gotta figure out underwater treadmills with simulated moving scenery.. 🤔
This is the best video, for some reason i really feel like i'm in there swimming around. 10/10 would visit lobster town again.
freshwater lobsters are called crayfish
lol
As someone who was born in Louisiana i feel the need to tell you to call them crawfish, no one calls them crayfish here.
scavenger js im in mass so
We call them crawdads
crawdeads
Awesome vid, and thanks for making it high resolution too! It was really cool to watch in full screen.
Looks like an aussie marron. Nice color!!
Red Claw Crayfish from Queensland.
Thanks !!
this is amazing! I love how clear the water is!
what do they eat?
I think the guppies
White People Seasoning [this avatar name made me laugh too hard]
lmao! Me too! Funny ass name!
Anything dead.
1:55 loved the backwards burnout he does
sometimes I wish I was the size of a GI Joe so I could go swimming in things like this or my own fishtank.. lol..
Ryan W Get small, it's fun.
save money and build a huge fishtank ?
It was cool how you actually gave a tour of the habitat
2:02 "HEY, leave Pedro alone!"
One of the coolest videos I've seen on here. So disappointed it's only 1 video from 2 years ago. More!
I agree. We need more.
It's a very cool video. Nice ecosystem you got there.
I agree. Cool video.
Started getting seasick, but you have many growing in there, pretty cool!
Your crayfish are living the high life. Do you ever feed them snsils?
cant find any snails
lapitolkokam kokam
You could introduce a few; they will help control algae populations. They're also tasty snacks for crayfish.
that is the coolest footage of an underwater city.
Rad!
I love how lively it looks with all the various plants and algae growth in it. Do the lobsters ever fight each other?
yes they are cannibalistic and will eat each other.
They can and they will, but I highly doubt it here. They have so much space and ✌🏾apartments ✌🏾 there probably aren't any problems outside the occasional male fighting for one particular female.

This video was amazing, you have a mini eco system in your backyard.
Are these Lobster or Crayfish, How large do they grow, How deep is the tank and at what stocking density?
the tank size is 8x8 feet x 2feet deep...quite a small tank it is
They are Crayfish. Lobster cannaot live in Fresh water.
Why do people call them lobster when they are crawfish
because they are related to lobsters, and are pretty much fresh water lobsters
Zexsen but they are not lobsters they are crayfish lmao
There is a tremendous amout of plastic in the ocean!
Just messin'. Great set up and great video!!!
That is a very cool setup i wish i could have something like this :) Are the lobster a special bread? I love the blue/green colors! Thanks you so much for sharing!!! New sub hopping to see an update soon :)
Benja's Uber 1337 Hobby
Those are crayfish.
the species is cherax quadricarinatus. just in case you're still interested.
Wondeful ...This is as good as mind therapy.I just watch this video whenever my mind need a 3 minuites rest.
more like a guppy farm
Those aren't guppies, they're mosquito fish
+Andrew Vu There's a mixture of guppies and gambusia
Andrew Vu there are definitely guppies in there
DragonsBreath151 most likely Florida or Deep South.

I myself am amazed after the many videos I have watched. Did not know raising crawfish was a popular thing.
Are those the rare blue lobsters ?
+michael therrien lobsters turn orange when you cook them, this is how they usualy look
There are no lobsters in this video.
This is cool there’s so much detritus and the water is so clear
Why am I watching this.?
K9Mate to see if there was a Dogfish in the farm?
Maybe
why am I reading this?
why not
because?
Thank you showing us such a cool video! I want one of those lobster for my aquarium !
that is not lobster here in Texas we call it crayfish love to eat them with cold beer
YeeHaw buddy!
Cmon man, we call them crawfish.
Mud bugs in east Texas 💪🏾
You need a little RC sub with an FPV system/recording system to go in there! That'd be cool!
Everything in this pond is nice except all the bacteria and fish waste that's at the bottom of your pond you can see a great example of how bad it is if you go to 1:58 in the video
It's natural :P
Fish waste and bacteria feed plants, I dare say that's the point of the garden on top. Look at those roots at 0:30 for instance.
What a fantastic set up you have there.. Well done.
Is Lonny a typical name for Lobster ?
Uncle Lonny. hahahaaaa
Great video! Nice clear resolution too!
THE FLOOR IS FISH POOP!
guess whats sand made of fossil fish crap
Cool. They all seem to have a good mix of blue in them
Lobster rock lobster ha ha ha
Great setup! I couldn't help but daydream of putting a couple musk turtles in there, lol
you are a ninja with the camera work.. its like your actually swimmin threw their world
It's like one of those shark attack movies
I love how there are little fishes swimming around
It's gives it more life.
really cool...can you make a video on the essential things need to maintain your farm?
Never in my life I would think I would want a freshwater lobster farm. But now I do
That is bloody awesome mate! I love your work! All of my thumbs are up!
I didn't know lobster can survive in fresh water. Great video.
Though all the shaking and stuff gave me motion sickness, it's a really awesome pond and a nice tour
Your water is so clean!!! Very nice! What camera did you use!
nice set up . cool looking lobster condo's.
Incredible! I wish I have something like that in my backyard
What do you feed the pond... It looks very nice and happy by the way... It looks fairly self sustaining but there are some inputs?
beautiful little ecosystem you've made
How do you keep these lobsters alive in a natural bond? did you have to balance the salt levels? Is temprature a concern?
Do the lobsters eat the little fishies that are swimming around?
wow amazing what do lobster eat? how many lobster did you buy? and did any of them reproduced?
That's awesome. Any time you like you just put on the scuba gear and dive right in.
It would be so cool if the walls were plexi glass or something see through. Have a little underwater drone too.
How long does it take for lobsters to have babies?
Good job. I love your lobster farm.
Cool setup! Crawfish are yummy 😋
Here in Missouri we call them Crawdads! Also pretty sweet farm.
Pretty neat! Do you eat them? Or just pets?
That was superb environment...nicely done
