    Thank you for making this video, it saved me a couple hundred dollars! I agree with everybody saying the engineers should be fired, this is the absolute dumbest position this battery could've been placed.

    Good vid, looks like Ford engineers made this more complicated than it should be.

      They did! It is a bit of a hassle, but it's still possible to do! With a few choice words and a couple scraped knuckles...it can be done! Lol

    Wow, thanks for this video! It's absurd that a battery replacement is so involved. What's next, Ford, making customers remove the back bumper, left tire, and the exhaust system to put gas in the car?

    thanks for this. those grommets on the air box were not easy to deal with. not really sure i got the big one back in all the way. hopefully it’s good enough.

    Way to complicated. And battery maintenance is something that need to be done. Thank you for video.

    I had to put the selector switch to Auto to reset as shown on a 2017 Ford Escape Trend.

    I just did one and went down, taking off the wipers, cowling etc. two nuts, four bolts and the master cylinder screws. It took me an hour and a half, taking my time and cleaning everything. I think this is the easiest way. Next time it will take me about a half hour. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    What did you use to tighten the cable nuts

    What about resetting the Battery Monitoring System?

    • @HaynesManuals
      @HaynesManuals  2 года назад +1

      When driven casually after a battery replacement, the computer should perform an automatic “relearn” procedure, including recalibrating the battery monitoring system. This should happen within a few drive cycles. If you’d like to reset the BMS manually, this link may be helpful: www.automasterx.com/how-to-reset-ford-battery-management-system/

    it is pretty easy except for the removal of the air box. remember to reset the bms by putting the ignition to on but not starting the car, flash headingts to brignt 5 times and then step on the brake 3 times. the battery on the dash will flash in about 15 seconds. you are now done. I think this may be easier than taking off the cowl. taking and putting on the wipers may be a major pain and you my damage the windshield. $500.

      Yuup we have a 2017 Ford escape getting it done now .why ford why did you do something stupid like this. Cmon man..

    • @paulbok6941
      @paulbok6941 2 года назад +3

      Yes it sure is. I used to have a PT Cruiser and to get to the battery you had to jack the car up...and then pull the front drivers side wheel off and then pull like a dozen screws out of the wheel well cover...and then---VOILA! Battery just sitting there looking stupid as hell up in the BUMPER!

      Getting ready to change battery 2017 escape and what I think of the Ford design I'll keep to myself but I ain't happy. Nieces 2005 Pontiac Bonneville battery under the back seat not as difficult to get to still poor design.

    .... once the battery is finally replaced, fire 7 12 gauge buckshot, into engine block, and never buy a Ford product again!!

    This should have read 2011 and later battery replace. The 2001 through 2010 are 2 nuts 2 cables and it's out of there. I guess that's progress ????????

    This isnt actually so bad. Ive had cars with worse battery locations. A new vw beetle, the fwd ones, have a worse battery to replace

    This is insane. A battery should be accessible.

    DONT DO IT THIS WAY, ITS INCORRECT AND COULD DAMAGE YOUR WIRING HARNESS!!!! while not as simple as most, changing the battery only requires 3 sockets, ratchet, a flat screwdriver, a torx bit and driver. remove the cowel.

    This is not remotely correct for a 2008 Escape.
