In my first proper job as a teenager, we went back to the office at the end of the day. Every pay day, I crossed the street to the record shop and never came out with less than 2 albums. I still remember how good it felt almost 50 years later, flicking through the albums and getting the owner to play a few tracks. 😊

Thanks gents, that was lovely. I started reading And Away yesterday. It's gonna take me ages to finish... impossible to read with a continual stream of tears of laughter rolling down my face.
I love you both and these clips never fail to reveal more quiet beauty and poignancy than one could expect ❤ Also, what a smashing guy that owned the record shop! All the best to you all ❤
I hope Steve does really well in his record shop. What a great attitude to life he has. I still use my record player and buy new (to me ) vinyl. I love the fact that like fishing it slows you down. You have to take time to select the record, take it out of the sleeve, put it onto the turntable, give it a clean then move the stylus across, admire the artwork and enjoy the music until its time to turn over for side B. The Reeves and Mortimer isn't in my collection yet, I shall keep an eye out for a copy!
Not allowing myself to buy any more records since 2002, (I have thousands and my loft is near collapse)......;) I still love going in a record store just to "dig the crates" and remember how great it was to actually own your music. Love Amazon music though and I ripped MP3s of most of my vinyl. It is a digital age but great to know record stores will still remain, thanks to enthusiastic owners like this guy....................;)
In my home town Tenby Pembrokeshire there is a Record shop still goingrun by the same family i am 70 so its been there all of my life. Always great to see these two together i know i will becoming away with z smile and a laugh which is something we need very badly living in Britain and me living in wales dont ask zbout the 20mph
@@kumquatmagoo as you may know you can not drive that fast in Tenby certainly in the summer lol, you are correct the most beautiful place in the world as far as I am concerned of course I do admit I am very biased
The greatest album of all time 'Highway' by Free. I really loved seeing this. I will revisit it regularly it puts a smile on my face. I also have Vic Reeves book where he talks about the love of Free .fabulous !!
Lovely episode. Thank god for record shops, i've stopped by my local shop recently just to ask them what was playing outside on the speakers. Met a lovely gent who said the magic words, Stax, and Booker T and the MGs. Time never wasted.
i'm one of those creeps, i got a little brush to clean the needle and a felt roller on a little arm that cleans the record as it plays. And Bob, i'm afraid that my favourite cover of 'i'm a believer' is by another Bob; Robert Wyatt, but your's and Jim's version is good too! At our school we painted the flap on our haversacks with the artwork from our favourite album....
I love watching 50% of Slade in Residence. Can we have a Christmas special with the whole Slade in Residence or just get the real Noddy Holder as a guest and offer him a choice of Cup-a-soup?
In my home town, I used to visit the indoor market, now sadly demolished, and bought some classic albums. I loved to flick through the album selection and thankfully I still have a few left. And awaaay
Oh wow...I could load myself up with some vinyl there. And I've got a stereo system I've never unboxed because of moving etc. Well that's my poor excuse. The sad truth is that 17 year old kid is still dreaming of his 70's prog LP collection and looking for the Porky Prime Cut messages scratched stamped on the vinyl where it runs out....
Buying an album was an event, as the lads say 'flicking through' to find the one, getting it home, opening it and devouring all the information, who played what, then who wrote what, who was a guest musician etc. then playing it..... over and over aahhh memories. And yes I WAS a creep that handled them carefully 😎
Guys, change up the ending! It leaves a sour note at the end. You don't watch it but we all do, and hearing "you seem a bit down" every time at the end really does ruin some of the fun. I am subscribed, by the way!
Store owner seems a great guy. I think I’ll email him and see if he’ll post one of those capos to New Zealand. A capo that’s been in the presence of comedy and fishing royalty would be special. It would undoubtedly sound better
I’d give both of my arms and all of my bait for a chance to go fishing with these guys.. it’d be such a great day out! , only trouble is.. I’m in New Zealand, which would mean they’d need to bring their pyjamas and a tent..
I'm in the sad situation that I have realised I am going to have to part with my vinyl, after half a century of building my collection. I'd love to keep it, but realistically I can't take it with me when I move to SE Asia. I doubt that my wife would accept that we suddenly need a new air conditioned room with a dedicated mains spur rather than fix the leaky roof . . .
I love that Bob introduced himself. I know it’s just basic manners, but it’s a really lovely gesture for a famous person to make.
Bob is such a good person

You know why? Because it brings me joy. So simple, love it!
People tend to forget that Vic and Bob were pop stars too.
‘Dizzy’ played on loop throughout the early 90’s for me.
I remember that ! Thanks. It was barely a song, but a lot of fun. 😊

I love it the way that Paul went into ‘character’ about the Beatles. . . And when he did Billy Connolly! (81 today, bless him)
Half expected Paul to slip a record under his coat while Bob distracted the shopkeeper.
He's a little bit 'woooo,' he's a little bit 'waaay', a bit dodgy, a bit tasty. He'll nick anything.

What's with the funny faces? 😂
Gerry Dungeree’s son?
I'm a Believer with EMF has one of the finest b-sides I've ever heard. La Plage is a piece of art.

It's weird hearing "old man talk" with all the references updated. I never heard me grandpa reminisce about synthesisers!
I hope he got Bob to sign that album, and then put it in pride of place on the wall 😁
Nice video guys thanks 👍
Bob you have real taste in music. What a wonderful album 'Highway' is by Free. Hope you got the chance to listen to the warm crackle of the old vinyl.
And I now own that Tony Best album Bob shows to Paul.
Very enjoyable

What was the first record you bought?
Mine was Oliver's Army by Elvis Costello, when I was 8 years old in 79 😊
My husband had a record shop in London called echo Beach ❤️

I'm happy that even entry level gear allows you to listen to music with nice quality sound now, but I seriously mourn the loss of album art.
Yes indeed...
For vinyl fans they remade a thing called the Sound Burger, which is a mobile but reasonable quality vinyl player. getting one for my dad for xmas.
