A friend of mine was panning in the American river and a loose rock kept rolling down hill. Throw the rock up hill and back down in the way again. Finally he picked it up and was going to throw it into the river, be done with it. He looked once more and washed it off and he was holding a round piece of spider gold the size of a tennis ball. Sold for $30,000 USD not by weight but for a collector of natural art. about thirty miles from the original Sutters Mill 1849 gold strike. Congratulations. I bet your glass will be half full not half empty for some time to come. Hello from California, USA.

I don’t know about this hobby, but it looks to me like you could be losing gold sometimes. You check for signal in the scoop, then dump some in your hand and check the scoop again. When the scoop still has signal you throw away the contents of your hand, but you haven’t checked that material for signal. If there is more than one nugget in the scoop you are only going to find one of them with the process you’re using.

    • @ianmoone2359
      @ianmoone2359 Месяц назад

@@Bob42000 Unfortunately in Oz the median house price in Skidknee is around $1m+
So a $100k nugget would barely cover the selling agents commission and the government stamp duty tax on buying the better house unfortunately.
What you said is good advice despite all this other considerations, you aren’t wrong in the advice that you gave it’s just that if he is going to give the whole $100k find to the selling realtor & the Government in Stamp Duty Tax, he’s not actually gaining that &100k in more equity in the house he’s upgrading to.
For that reason he might as well have left the nugget in the ground if he’s just going to give it to lazy realtor in commission and tax thrives.
He might be better as you said keeping it and waiting for gold price to double or invest it into income producing passive income stream.
Buying the Prado is a depreciating asset & probably the worst idea of all.
But it’s his nugget & his to do with as he pleases. I’m happy for him whatever he chooses to do with it.
Maybe better to invest it into improving his existing house to make that liability into one worth $100k + more in improved value, adding extra bedrooms and en suites etc.
At least then he gets the full value from his nugget.
His house if he lives in it is actually a liability, his bank considers it a liability on his balance sheet because it takes money out of his account (Annual land rates & water rates, upkeep, maintenance & repairs, payments on his mortgage etc), & it puts zero money into his bank account so as far as his bank is concerned the house he lives in is a liability rather than an asset.
Likely the wisest thing he could do is pay down his mortgage to save hundreds of thousands in mortgage interest and reduce his payment term, saving again hundreds of thousands in repayments as well.
      My 2c

Well done. If you don't already have one, think about getting an ultrasonic cleaner. They are usually for jewellery, but your nugget would fit in a regular domestic model. The ultrasound vibrations dislodge tiny particles of dirt, and you'll likely end up with a 'clean' nugget with little holes where the quartz, clay and dirt used to be. Any little particles of gold that aren't attached and come off end up in the bottom of the cleaner, not in your sink s-bend. Once again, well done.

Finding a nugget this large so close to the surface is yet more proof that there's still plenty of gold out there to be found. You just have to understand geology to know what to look for and some simple physics such as eddy currents to know where to find the source behind that trail of golden breadcrumbs. You may even find gold that once flowed through the veins of a dragon or a human tens of thousands of years ago when life was much larger than it is today. Right now the amount of gold in your blood is an insignificant speck of dust in the grand scheme of the past and present times but some day in the far future it will be much more useful to humans, who likely will be descendants of your own bloodline in one way or another, due to quantum scaling. All existing life is sustained by previous life, every rock, metal and gemstone was once a living being and through science we are able to give it new life. The old saying "dumb as a bag of rocks" didn't stand the test of time because the very device you viewed this video on couldn't function without rocks. It would be nothing more than an electrical circuit which powers a series of LED bulbs.

What a great find and congradulations! If you do not plan to keep it (or haven't already sold it), I am certain that piece will fetch you much more if you sell to a high end to a collector vs. selling it at spot to a jeweler/refiner. Although it is rounded and has no distinct crystalline features that I can tell, the gold veins running through the native rock make it a beautiful piece. Additonally the fact it was documented on its finding (chelybinsk meteorites sell at a premium because of this) and has a great story behind it will all add value to a collector.
    Either way congratulations!

Great video and super awesome nugget. I’ve been detecting exactly 2 years now and it took me a full year to feel confident with the 6000. I read a few comments, and I 100% agree that finding such a piece is better after detecting for a few years. Although I want to find bigger than an ounce one day, I’d hate to have found my biggest bit in the first year. I for one am going back in time and watching some of your earlier videos. Way to go Luke.

Yeh! Sorry about the camera falling over, it was me, just rearranging my sitting position! Getting comfortable, I'd been hanging to see the end result, after all the lead up to this hunt. Listening to your comments during the lead up to the main event, I have to smile at the "Who knows there might be a bigger mate hiding at the side" little did you realise what was to come! Chasing a full gram! Indeed!... And your plans of what you might do with your previous collections of gold. Then your world changed! It's got to be a 3 ouncer! You were close, you just needed to add a zero on the end of it! I think this is my fourth viewing of this hunt, and each time, my heart starts to race, when you say "Oh! My God Oh! My God"... What an incredible experience! Im glad Andrew was there with you, and I keep wondering whether his 5000 would have picked it up. I imagine it would have! Now get back there with a dozer and take off a couple of feet of soil all around the area and find the rest of its relatives!... I know im a couple of weeks late with a comment , kept forgetting to top up my credit on my phone! And now I can say, "I know a bloke who found a 30 OZ nugget" From one minute to the next, you just dont know whats around the corner! And that was some corner!!!! Cheers Luke, Absolute Magic!
