The scene where the armour appears over the hill, banners flying, armour clanking, chanting "Tregunum mekoides tregorum status dee" in hollow, disembodied unison still gives me goosebumps.

This is literally the movie of my childhood (kind of weird considering I'm a millennial) and the movie that made me love Angela Lansbury. I once visited Portobello Road in London, and I could not stop singing it 😂

Omg I grew up on this movie and it added to both my love of musicals and my love of Angela Lansbury!! I was born in the 90's and still love this magical and fun movie even today, it will always hold a special place in my heart!

+Alex Meyer Young enough that I don't remember at all. I grew up on Disney movie musicals (like this and Mary Poppins). I'm sure I was watching this movie before I could talk.
Musical Theatre Mash I'm only 25. I don't know how I ended up owning a VHS copy of this film. I think I may have first seen it at a summer daycare I went to and then asked my parents to buy a copy for me.

This was so fun to watch. I've always loved Bedknobs and Broomsticks , but Paul was just hilarious, " lovely bit of string"! Love that you included "Step in the right direction" at the end.
This is and was my favorite Disney musical!
I totally grew up on all these Disney movies from the 60s and 70s, probably because they're what my parents grew up with and they were eager to share them with me. But Bedknobs and Broomsticks holds up as one of the best and I still revisit it regularly because the music, the atmosphere, and everything is just so on point. And like many others here, this was also my introduction to the glory of Lansbury and it's given me a lifelong appreciation for her.
Can "...defeat the nazis of course!" be a common answer for everything? XD
Ahhhhh I'm so glad you made this video. I adore this film. Didn't comprehend an ounce of the plot when I watched it as a child, but watched it again when I was older and appreciated it much more. I've been a fan of the movie ever since, partially because I credit this movie to be the origin of my obsession with Dame Angela.
awesome review. this has been a personal favorite of mine since i was a kid. your review was spot on about how silly and fun this movie is. it's interesting because i love this and mary poppins, but i go through different phases where i like this one better sometimes and other times i like poppins better. they're both some of disney's best work, though. thanks for spotlighting it.
I love this movie but also like........ it's so looooong! Even without the insanely long cut of Portobello Road, it seems to last foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

i saw it in the cinema when i was 7 or 8 and then we moved for a while into an old house with a bed with a brass bedstead that had knobs you could turn!!Grrreat! never saw it again until a few days ago on the tv, and , having read about how 6 MINUTES of Portabello Road were cut for the released version,(the one i was watching)but apparently restored on recent DVD versions- i could hardly believe the interminable never ending length of the number was AFTER this butchering. I can only imagine what torture it must be unedited
The " song about a road " as u put it. Is Portabello road.. Which is real and still known as an antiques. street. I have always loved that number..the dancing is great.. The cheeky female soldier. Breaks the song up and brings a giggle.
Also beautiful briney sea was written for Mary Poppins but they didn't use it.

I loved this movie as a kid!!! Watched it all the time!!! I rewatched it a few years ago, and to my pleasant surprise, it held up really well. I still loved the songs, the kids weren't annoying, and Angela Lansbury was still fabulous.

I was watching this and remember thinking "Oh I watched this when I was little!" Then suddenly...

And it was like war flashbacks

I watched this as a kid and loved it and so it was on tv recently and half of the film is missing,there is parts and scenes that have been cut out,why is it because its not correct anymore,we can't just change thing from the past because times have changed

The songs of B&B and Mary Poppins are very similar. It's uncanny. Everything sounds like Just a Spoonful of Sugar!
+Matt Miller Well both projects were being worked on by the Sherman brothers around the same time, The song they sing under water was a repurposed song that didn't make it into Mary Poppins.
Death And RUclips I find B&B more memorable then MP.
I always liked B&B better than Mary Poppins.

Even reduced to five minutes, BEDNOBS AND BROOMSTICKS still comes off as ridiculous "family-oriented" stupidity. Talk about ripping off established hits (SOUND OF MUSIC, MARY POPPINS), complete with a terrific star and supporting players trying to find pay dirt out of the Sherman Brothers' utterly derivative score to little avail. I was "lucky"enough to see it
at a studio screening in its ORIGINAL two hour-plus running time. Talk about a Long Night's Journey Into Day!
