Love Julie Andrews and all.. but I can’t see her as Miss Price. Lansbury KILLED that role and I honestly feel like I would hate it if any other actress had that role.
When I had went together with my mother in, she did it for me, because she never could stand Angerla Landsbury but there were other promissing actresses better suited for this movie we thought.
I love it so much and I too prefer it to Mary Poppins. I have only seen Mary Poppins like three times. But Bedknobs was one of my favorite moves growing up and I have seen it more times than I can count.:)
I’m here paying tribute memorializing & honoring the loved Angela Lansbury October • 11 •2022 at the great age of 96 Whom played Miss Eglantine Price, a cunning witch~in~training in this beloved fantasy, Bedknobs and Broomsticks 1971 movie. My favorite part was when everyone got on the bed and with a twist of a bed knob you was flying off to to a fantastic, animated island of Naboombu 💗 I was just so fascinated by this movie as a child just bobbing alone on the bottom of beautiful briny sea, and the creatures of the deep. May she Rest In Peace an we continue rewatching all her movies & shows ♥️
Captain Greer: You there! Which way to Pepperinge Eye? Elderly Man: Couldn't say, sir-said on the wireless to paint out the signposts in case the Nazis drop in. Captain Greer: I'm not a Nazi, I'm a British officer! Elderly Man: That's what you say if you was a Nazi, isn't it sir?
David Cecil McAlister Tomlinson (may he rest in peace) was a freaking gem. It's not easy to give a convincing performance when paying a live-action role surrounded by animated characters, but he nailed it with the soccer match and his interactions with the King of Naboombu. I don't think that level of skill was demonstrated again until Bob Hoskins (may he also rest in peace) in 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?'.
My youngest son, who is now 24, absolutely loved this movie. Like you, he'd sit down and watch it over and over. His favorite was the battle at the end. He thought that was great!
I often refer to myself as a Rugrat (a friend called his little brother that _years_ before the cartoon came along) when I was a tadpole and Yard Ape leading up to my teens. (My HS girlfriend called me Beanpole: 6'1" tall, 145 pounds.)
I love this film, and have since I was a kid. I can't imagine anyone but Angela Lansbury and David Tomlinson cast as Eglantine and Emelius, they both performed wonderfully as their characters. The children too did a great job.
One of my favorite classic Disney movies. Angela Lansbury is amazing in this movie. I watched this with my 8 year old daughter and she absolutely adored it. Great video as always Sir Minty!
One of ny absolute FAVORITES when I was a kid! Back in the 80's before Blockbuster and other video stores started putting the strips on tapes when you tried to dub them, my mom and her boyfriend would rent 20 videos at a time (they were 59 to 99 cents a piece) and this was one of the first of them! Thanks for bringing back some excellent memories Minty!
Thank you so much for this video! I absolutely loved BEDKNOBS & BROOMSTICKS (1971) as a child... and even at 51 (as I type this) I actually re-watch it every few years... and still adore every second of it. 💎 Unlike you, I wouldn't mind seeing a remake of it... with modern special effects and pacing. But the original will always be special to me. 💜
Thank you for doing this video. I grew up watching Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Usually on your videos I know a thing or two about what you're covering. In this case I didn't know a thing. Once again thank you.
Thanks again minty for bringing me a purely uplifting video. I appreciate everything you do for your fans and me. This was something my mother used to play for me since I was adopted, and to help show me I was loved. This movie always had a very special place in my heart.
@@MintyComedicArts Minty you're a great guy, you're honestly my favorite channel. I love the effort you take into looking up this information. I've done things like this for my friends to tell them little tidbits about movies and films we enjoy. I must've watched this film 100 times as a child, as it was the perfect film for me. It dealt with adoption, war, and even furries. So I can't do much more than thank you, and offer to chat with you via telegram if you ever want.
This movie was such a huge part of my childhood!!!! Thanks for this one, it reminds me of my late father so much. It brought tears to my eyes because of the great memories of me and him watching this all the time.
The end battle was so good I still love it. Like when the soldier fires a whole mag into a knight and then knight just takes his leg off and empties out all of the bullets 😂. I watched it when I was like 4 and have watched it every year since and I remember all the words to the songs lol
I think "the Age of Not Believing" is one of the most underappreciated songs in the Disney catalog, right up there with "Candle on the Water". (PS, PLEASE do 'Pete's Dragon' sometime!) =)
One of my absolute FAVORITE movies ever made. I could see Julie Andrews in this role but I’m so glad they stayed with Angela Lansbury. She was perfection start to finish!
I saw it on the Wonderful World of Disney back in the 70's when I was a kid and I loved it as I still love it today, because it brings back memories of when I was a kid and watching it with my whole family. Back then we only got 4 channels. ABC, NBC, CBS and PBS. BTW when this movie came out I turned 6 in November. Of course it took awhile for it to end up on THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF DISNEY.
The Sherman Brothers' songs in this movie are the best they've ever written, and that's including "bigger" and more iconic Disney movies like Mary Poppins. "Portbello Road" is still one of the catchiest, coolest songs on Earth to me. It's just perfect songwriting. And the other songs are just so catchy. Sherman Brothers songs never leave your head. And besides that, they were given some INSANE prompts to work with. Sure, they had "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" under their belt, but that was one word in an otherwise sensical number. "Substitutiary Locomotion" had to basically describe a nonexistant magical process and end on a rhyming punchline that was essentially backwards magic-table-speak, and they friggin' did it. it's like when Kerri Strug stuck that landing on only one leg, only to compare it to this, it'd be like if she did that while being attacked by 4th-dimensional goblins. Give them their darn due.
Wow...my mom took me to see this for my 8th birthday and it's always been one of my favorites along with the Aristocats and Sleeping Beauty. I still find myself humming some of the music on occasion. Thank you for doing this one. ^^

Miklos Ernoehazy I couldn't agree more, Tim Conway and Don Knott's we're brilliant with comedic timing and improv. Mr. Limpet and Mr. Chicken are two of my favorite movies of all time. As far as Tim Conway, the Carol Burnett show had some of his best work, and when he appeared on Laugh In. Hard Core Hope Foundation I did as a small child but it’s been a really long time. I collect Disney films so I need to order that one! They just recently watch Swiss Family Robinson too. The old classics are the best. They’re so wholesome and what Disney is all about. Very few of Disney’s new films impress me now.
Thanks for all the info, it was lovely to see Bedknobs back on the big screen back in Cinemas earlier this year on a digital re-release, it is marvellous. I still have the original soundtrack album from 1971 which actually has the four deleted songs from the film on the soundtrack album along with all the rest.
One of many reasons I treasure *Bedknobs and Broomsticks* is that it's the only film of Angela Lansbury in a musical role close to the time of her great Broadway success in *Mame.*
I don't generally comment much on videos. But I felt i needed to compliment you on your series. You do great work. Your videos are edited tightly. They're informative. You bring a genuine enthusiasm to your videos. And most importantly, they're just plain enjoyable. Well done sir. Please keep up the good work.
This is one of my sister's favorite Disney movies! And also one of my favorite as well. On Turner Classic Movies, they often show old Disney movies from the 1930's to the 1980's. Both live action, Animated, and short films.
Minty, I sure do enjoy your reviews! I love your pacing and the appropriate time you spend on each topic. I think you do a great job, and I hope you keep it up! Thanks again!
Same as djredshow, as soon as it popped up from my notifications. This is my all time go to kid film, I must have seen it oh nearly 20 times as a kid (and 10 more or so as an adult lol). Want to take this opportunity to say really enjoy your channel, Minty.

It's hard to imagine that this is that one very special Disney film which had Sir Bruce Forsyth in it who starred as the henchman "Swinburne" The UK lost a national icon on 18 August 2017 and as a child growing up Bruce was exceptionally charming and so enjoyable to watch. I still to this very day miss Bruce.
What an obscure movie it was my favorite when I was a kid . I can still sing all the songs to this day and I'm 40 Portobello Road, Portobello Road ,Streets where The Riches of Ages are sold anything and everything that chap can unload.
Portabello Rd is one of the most infectious earworms of all time. I can not see this movie in years, think of that song, and it's stuck in my head all day; until I listen to The Go Team. It's the way it loops at the end, it can just keep going.
Really? Just that line? The title gets me, i've known a couple gals fond of bed knobs and broomsticks.....and cucumbers, large sausages, vacuum cleaner handles.......
I LOVED Bedknobs and Broomsticks! It sticks out as my favorite Disney movie of all time. Perhaps it was a product of it's time, but when I saw it at school for the first time as a little kid, I was drawn to the fact that there was quite a bit of darkness mixed in with the fun and excitement. I guess that sums up life to me. There are dark times mixed in with the light and you have to persevere through the dark times and try to enjoy the light ones as much as you can when they come around. Not to mention Angela Lansbury was gorgeous! I would still go on a date with her if the opportunity presented itself. One of the best actors of our time. Good shout-out to Pushing Up Daisy's by the way! I love that channel! I finally get to see some solutions to some of those crazy old video games from back in the day. And her Murder She Wrote reviews are hilarious! Keep up the great work, Minty!
"Bonfire of the Broomsticks", Tom Wolf's satirical look at Wartime Britain where a witch in training crashes her magic flying bed into a costermonger's orange barrow.
I've seen a lot of critics dismissing it as a "ripoff" of Mary Poppins, and that it was made to capitalize on MP's success. We can now point them to this list to show that it was in development first! Also, I have to give some love to the song Eglentine- I was singing it the other day, even.
This is one of my favourite movies as a child. I would have loved to had that bedknob to be able to travel wherever. And the songs are still catchy to this day. Thanks for the awesome video Minty! :)
The end of the movie still makes me so happy, I love when all the armor comes to life. No matter how jaded I get this is still one of the few movies that still makes me smile and laugh like a little kid.
What a fantastic video! I loved Bedknobs and Broomsticks, and this video brought back such happy memories of watching it. Like Lost In A Book, I prefer it to Mary Poppins. Also thanks for mentioning Pushing Up Roses! Her Murder She Wrote videos are hilarious, and make me want to watch the show again even though I didn't like it at all back in the day. =D
This is one of my all time favorite movies from my childhood. I got to see it at a matinee showing in the late 70’s at a theater with my granny. It’s a cherished memory of her so I watch this movie every chance I get.
It is a beautiful song. I often rewind to the beginning and listen to it again whenever I replay the film. I don't mind a more leisurely scene, and this one makes a nice contrast between the tawdry fakes (including two ladies of the night -- something I didn't pick up on when the film came out and I was in my teens, but is rather more obvious to the older and wiser me) being "sold off the barrow" at the market and the reality of a magic book of spells, which in the real world would be a fake but in the film's world is the one thing that is *not* found at the market. Nice touch, that.
Minty, I agree with you about the remake, I hope that doesn't happen as the film is a massive masterpiece as it is. I have loved it since I was 10 and especially the football match with the animals. Your vid truly did tell me loads of things I didn't know. So thanks for making it and always uploading decent content on your channel, keep up the good work matey ☺
I was 7 when Bedknobs & Broomsticks played in theaters, and I saw it at least 5 times. My mom indulged my love of the movie and made it an adventure for us to go. To this day, we still watch it with much love in our hearts. Mom is 75 and has Alzheimer's, but she remembers every song!
I have to rewatch this movie, haven't seen it since I was a kid. I can't remember if I liked it, or not, but I think I only saw it once or twice, so it must not have been a fave. I do love learning all about it, though. Since it got a mention in this video, I'm gonna say, I loved Little Spies. The Fluppy Dogs and Little Spies were frequently played in our house.
Thank you very much for mentioning my Murder, She Wrote videos! And I also loved Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Sad to hear about the deleted scenes and songs.

I remember seeing it when it came to the post theater in Germany. Instantly became my favorite movie of all times. Thank you for doing this movie.
One of my favorite Disney movies. Thanks Minty.
Thank you Minty for this. I love this film.👍👍😀😀
Thank you for covering this underrated gem! Would you be willing to do an episode on Dark Shadows?
Minty, I sure do enjoy your reviews! I love your pacing and the appropriate time you spend on each topic. I think you do a great job, and I hope you keep it up! Thanks again!
I so hope they dont do a remake of this, this is a clasic my fave bit where u get the knights fighting the nazis
Same as djredshow, as soon as it popped up from my notifications. This is my all time go to kid film, I must have seen it oh nearly 20 times as a kid (and 10 more or so as an adult lol).
Want to take this opportunity to say really enjoy your channel, Minty.
Paul: I liked you better as a Rabbit, Charlie
Charlie: Shut up, you!
Paul: Well I never had a Rabbit!
Been following for a while now. I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos. YES you can find this information online.... but I prefer your presentation and appreciation. Love the editing and time you take to make each video. On behalf of many who watch and subscribe, please keep making vids (in spare time.... don't let it consume you haha). Just, Thank You.
It's hard to imagine that this is that one very special Disney film which had Sir Bruce Forsyth in it who starred as the henchman "Swinburne"
The UK lost a national icon on 18 August 2017 and as a child growing up Bruce was exceptionally charming and so enjoyable to watch. I still to this very day miss Bruce.
❤️
My family loves this movie! My kids are grown, but they still enjoy finding old favorites.
I've seen Bedknobs several times. It is one film that I would like to see a stage version of it running on Broadway.
This is my favorite live-action Disney musical (I still tear up when I hear “The Age of Not Believing.”) Thanks for showcasing it!
Wow minty....I didn't know u knew dis movie....brings me back to my childhood....again.... thanks man
Dude, you make such great film studies! I love how you take us back! I have stories to tell you. Keep up the great work
What an obscure movie it was my favorite when I was a kid . I can still sing all the songs to this day and I'm 40 Portobello Road, Portobello Road ,Streets where The Riches of Ages are sold anything and everything that chap can unload.
Got ya
Portabello Rd is one of the most infectious earworms of all time. I can not see this movie in years, think of that song, and it's stuck in my head all day; until I listen to The Go Team. It's the way it loops at the end, it can just keep going.
Great video, thanks for shining a light on this often-overlooked Disney classic!
I love this movie! Watched it over and over when I was a kid. :D
Love this movie! Grew up watching this as well. Have it on DVD :)
I love this film just for the line "... what's this got to do with my knob?"
Still makes me laugh
Hehehehehehehe! I’m American, and that reference is crystal clear! :P
Really? Just that line? The title gets me, i've known a couple gals fond of bed knobs and broomsticks.....and cucumbers, large sausages, vacuum cleaner handles.......
... and my unweildly phalus.
... I wish... :(
lol
I too absolutely love this film, thanks for covering it!
"hands off my knob" CLASSIC line.
❤️
"Bonfire of the Broomsticks", Tom Wolf's satirical look at Wartime Britain where a witch in training crashes her magic flying bed into a costermonger's orange barrow.
I've seen a lot of critics dismissing it as a "ripoff" of Mary Poppins, and that it was made to capitalize on MP's success. We can now point them to this list to show that it was in development first! Also, I have to give some love to the song Eglentine- I was singing it the other day, even.
I always felt the final battle in Army Of Darkness was inspired by the final battle in this film with the Knights.
This movie was my childhood and on of my favorites. Thank you so much for reminding me of it.
Used to watch this on Disney Channel all the time in the 80's!
another great pick!! (and I love that fact that you mentioned Pushing Up Rose )
one of my fav movies as a kid, another banger Minty!
I remember watching this film as a child once. Got to watch it again, and the nostalgia express hit in an instant. 😊
“Morbidly depressing show: Eastenders.” I cackled. 🤣
lol I know I stopped watching that show but wow how does he really feel
You beat me to the punch 🥊
Yes! That made me laugh out loud too!
Portabello Road os my favorite part of this masterpiece.
Me too!
i loved renting this as a kid! saw it again recently, the battle with the armor at the end holds up :P
This is one of my all time favorite movies from my childhood. I got to see it at a matinee showing in the late 70’s at a theater with my granny. It’s a cherished memory of her so I watch this movie every chance I get.
Portabello Road, Portabello Road......street where the riches of ages are stowed....
Hated that song... dragged on... and on... and on... and...
"GET ON WITH IT!!!" =)
It is a beautiful song.
I absolutely loved this movie. Angela Lansbury is one of my favorites
I used to annoy my mum by calling this movie 'BIG KNOBS and Broomsticks'; it was her favourite movie when she was young.
Up 'til now I would have sworn this movie was filmed in England! Good research.
What a nostalgia trip! I think this was the first film I saw in a cinema, whenever that was…
I have to rewatch this movie, haven't seen it since I was a kid.
My favorite movie as a child. Would watch every morning before the afternoon session of kindergarten
