It’s such a complex problem and has so many presentations. I’m thrilled every time I see a medical professional treat it and every time I hear a fellow person diagnosed with HS even share part of their story.
@@Brissieskater1 I've been seeing a dermatologist for over 20 years. I've been subscribed antibiotics, sprinolactone, humira, and various topical creams and washes. None of the dermatologists or general practitioners I've seen over the years has ever suggested blackhead extractions to help prevent flare-ups. I've had so many lance and drain procedures and steroid injections in active sores, but no one has ever been interested in preventing flares by removing blackheads. I have asked. It's pretty presumptuous of you to assume I haven't.
As a sufferer of HS, I'm glad that there's less of a stigma surrounding it, more knowledge about it, and knowing I'm not alone or some "freak" . For a decade, I was told by doctors it was because A) I was fat or B) Hormones and SURPRISE it's not those, but thankfully more dermatologists shedding light on this illness are changing all our lives for the better. @luna_night_fury lol it's okay, it's not super known. HS stands for Hidradenitis Supprativa which is a skin condition in which cystic like acne/abscesses form in the areas of the body that have moisture (most commonly in the armpits, buttocks, inner thighs and under the breasts). They can be, and usually are, extremely painful, sometimes requiring a doctor to drain it and pack it in order to release all the infection. There's no known cause or cure, sometimes require surgery and can be debilitating. Usually starts at puberty. Common misconception about HS is that it has to do with hygiene which is not the case at all and it's not hereditary as some may think.

But I had been struggling with the symptoms since I was 12 years old. Because I am a very shy and private person, particularly as a teenager, I blamed myself and never shared what I experienced. My insurance, and I have the best coverage you can have in America without being a politician in Washington, D.C., has now switched me to a bio similar to Humira which I will be trying soon. I’m hopeful I will feel as good. Humira has made it so I drink enough water again. That has allowed me to identify my main trigger- dehydration. I’ve heard shaving can be problematic. For me the opposite- not shaving about once a week- causes problems. Of course I change my underwear At least daily. But I also change my bra daily. I found these tshirt bras at Torrid that work for me. I like how they look, but most importantly, I can wear them daily and they support without irritating my skin. I even change my pants daily. Now, part of that is the fact that I work in a hospital with patients in their rooms. But still. I don’t like how it feels to wear pants I sweated in yesterday. I haven’t found food triggers for me although low water consumption is number one. Anyways, that’s just two years of finding out what works for me. But on to your question.
@@Desert_Dreamer24 Im not a dermatologist, so please defer first to their expertise. But in my opinion, can HS occur on extremely sensitive areas like genitals? Absolutely, yes. My most regular outbreaks occur in my armpits. These are extremely painful and debilitating. But I’ve had them on the side of my rib cage underneath where an uncomfortable bra sat that day as well. I’ve had them at the top of my tuchus between my butt cheeks. I’ve had them on my breast (which was the most painful debilitating one I ever had). I’ve had them in my labia and this what was primarily terrifying for me as a 12 year old girl. For my labia… in every other area, I’m totally fine going to the doctor and having them inject Cortisone. I feel better instantly. But my labia, I would just rather leave alone. It’s embarrassing for me. And it’s extremely painful. I also don’t get the same relief. So I’d rather drink water, bathe as frequently as possible, and take any pain meds that help me. For me, apparently my spots are very deep in my skin. Before I knew what I had and got regular medical treatment for it, I would feel a spot for weeks. I would finally feel a painful lump. I would have to break the skin down with Hydrogen Peroxide and then my husband would painfully press until the contents could burst, and I do mean burst, out. I’d feel better instantly. But in two days, I’d have another spot and start the process all over. Anyways, I can be in agony and MAYBE you’ll see a slightly pinkish bump on the surface of my skin. Also, I had SEVERAL cortisone injections. I think my skin finally got the message a few months ago- “Settle down or you’re going to be injected with Cortisone every time you act up and then you won’t have a choice.” But that’s just my experience and what worked for me while refining my process over years. It may take you years to manage how you feel. But you’re worth it and you deserve it. Best of luck to you.
Your "bedside manner" is so soothing to watch, I am certain your patients appreciate it too. Youre doing great work and the videos are super too, thanks to you and the patients for sharing!
This is an awful condition, it must be so painful. Unclogging the pores, hopefully prevents more painful abscesses. Good video for awareness Mr Pops 🇬🇧
This kind of video is so helpful for people like me who have HS. For many years I assumed everyone had blackheads and occasional small infections in their arm pits and inner thighs. I developed them under and on my breasts, but it wasn’t until I had a very persistent lesion that formed a sinus track that I finally showed it to my dermatologist. She diagnosed me and put me on Humira, which cooled things down a lot. I don’t use a biological any more, but only have minor issues. Watching this reminds me that we don’t always know the problems others suffer with!
TY, the patient for allowing me a retired physician to see this procedure. I hope with each visit you clear up and are more comfortable. It was one of Dr Sandra Lee's patient's that came to my attention that this condition existed. I can see if one cannot find a health practioner who understands this condition, one can become embarrassed and at times feel helpless. The abcesses that have formed, are painful. I feel compassion.
I am so grateful I live in a era where treatments for cysts, inflammatory conditions, etc. is available. I can only imagine what people did to treat these conditions before modern medicine. Sepsis anyone?
I have also suffered from HS for so many years and I wish my doctor would have been more thorough with me.. You’re awesome at ur job and compassionate.
My mom lived with the constant infections from H.S. and she thought it meant she was not a clean person so never spoke to a doctor about the problem. So sad. Finally she had a doctor, like you, who was very sensitive to her shame over the problem. It made such a difference in the quality of Mom's life to know she hadn't caused the H.S. Your kindness to your patients will bring more people to get the help they so badly need.
Thank you for sharing your story. My heart really goes out to your mother what a terrible thing to have to carry around. Women had an especially difficult time with our self-esteem years ago and something like that could be very devastating. I'm so pleased to hear that she found someone understanding that could help her to see it had absolutely nothing to do with her or her hygiene. Please give her a great big hug for me. You don't have to tell her why. Just tell her she's amazing. LOL❤
Thank you for sharing such an accurate representation of HS. I have HS. I have it mostly in my armpits now. But I’ve also had it in my groin. I thought the same thing and it’s why I went undiagnosed for 23 years. My grandmother passed away in 2011. What you described of your mother was true of my grandmother. After getting to know my disease and symptoms, I’m pretty sure my grandmother had HS as well- never diagnosed, never treated, just lived with it in silence. Considering the condition was identified by doctors in the early 1900’s (my grandmother born in 1926) that’s flat out unacceptable. But here we are, today, with medical education teaching medical professionals to be the best, most helpful they can be. I’m so grateful for that. I hope everyone in your family has peace. Please know your comment made a positive difference in my day.
No they are TOOOO clean they kill the skin fauna & infections set in. My son has hundreds of abscesses. The smell is atrocious when they burst. Often we will be walking around the supermarket & an abcess will pop so we always carry dressings & alcohol cleanser.
HS is not anything that I ever knew existed. Thank you for helping to bring this to my attention. The people that have and will sit through this procedure are my heros! It must take nerves of steel to sit through all of that undeniable discomfort and pain. This particular client took it like a champ and didn't flinch once that I saw. I bow to your true internal strength and your willingness to share your experiences. 🎉❤
Wow, I enjoyed the educational part of this. HS looks so painful and to get blackheads along with it is like a double whammy. It's great to know she is under your supreme care and helping her with the HS. Always watching you and taking the time to explain things. Perfect bedside manner, so kind and gentle. Other Drs could really learn from you. Thank you and your patient for popping by and sharing with us.
@@jaysonthetrainmasterprofil221 I mean I don't know if ingrown hairs are generally worse than ingrown toe nails lol. When I didn't have health insurance I had a chronically infected ingrown toenail on big toe, left side. It was one of the most painful and nasty things I've ever dealt with. It was twice the size of the toe on the opposite of foot, it constantly bled, drained smelly yellow pus, and even had clear blisters form on the top of the toe spreading onto the joint and top of my foot. I developed sepsis and had almost had it amputated. 3 years later, with the toenail gone, I'm still dealing with pain and my toe is misshapen. Infection can happen anywhere on your body and it's important to treat it immediately and not let it spread, it can even spread into your heart I found out. Thank God I have health insurance now, I will never allow any infection anywhere on my body to get that bad again.
It's really excellent to watch you treat a condition I have had since I was 15. 37 now and my most recent flare developed in two new places. Unfortunately the NHS will not do the sort of treatment you do. Its all or nothing. Wait and see perhaps antibiotics or surgery. I only wish I could get my HS treated by you.
I’m so sorry to hear about your condition. I guess because they pay for treatment, patients get what they need, but it’s not fair that you can’t get similar treatment on the NHS. Sometimes the latter is sadly lacking.
@JASMINE POTTER I don't mess with my arm pit hair. It's light blond and fluffy so it's not a massive problem and every time I mess with my body hair, it upsets my HS so I tend to leave it well alone..
@@maggietaylor9475 absolutely it's really awful.. mine isn't all that bad.. similar to the lady on this video..ive seen some stage 4 and literally the only treatment for that on the NHS is suffer in silence or skin graft.
Really admire people showing their HS to us, so glad she’s getting some help. Commented before that if this helps 1 HS sufferer seek advice it’s fantastic 🙌🤍
I’ve had Hidradenitis Supprativa for 53 years. I went misdiagnosed for 20 years. It’s so painful. I’ve had both axilas operated on with skin grafting. I have other areas not operable and got worse after axilas were done. It’s so painful. Prayers to those who have this disease.
Am with you sis, 25yrs and counting. Hoping it calms down after menopause like my mums did. I’m at surgical stage now but I got three kids I don’t have time to be down!
I appreciate all those that are admitting to having the disease. I know no one personally that has the disease. I know my Uncle and Grandfather had it and it is thought that the disease is most likely genetically passed on. Hugs to us all that suffer! It sucks beyond words!!
I love that these amazing people share their story with us. I've suffered with HS since 1993. I was only 13 and this condition wasn't widely known about. I know the relief that will be felt from the pressure that builds up under the skin from this condition. 👌🏾. It's not nice to have, but great that it's spoken about more, and starting to be treated well. 💙
Know how you feel I got it about then too (went years with it undiagnosed as like you said back then it wasn't really known about and I was told I was just prone to cysts/abscesses/blackheads) it's great to see god's like this as it makes it more "normal" and feel less like I've got the lurg lol
@@anni610 thankfully being English, we have the NHS, so treatment is free. It's only gotten worse as I've aged. I'm 43 now, and the past 30 years have been horrendous, but I'm alive. I have a few disabilities, HS is just an additional issue. It's not something I'd wish on my worst enemy. 💙
@@emily.letsendbslintheuk554 it's just awful. Much better with the internet, and doctors being more informed on it. I went a long time without a diagnosis. I see my dermatologist twice s year, and have been given a cream this last time to help with the flare ups. It's helping, but not curing. I hope you're not in too much pain with it like I am 💙
@@Dillydoll it is a nasty condition, I admit I don't see a dermatologist about it anymore, all they do is give me a low dose of antibiotics and a hibiscrub wash anyway as our NHS won't remove them now that I've been diagnosed with HS unless they are very inflamed so I admit I lance them myself (I've been doing it myself for over 30 years so am used to doing it now and I buy surgical blades off the net so least now it's all sterile lol). Hope you manage to get yours under control soon (know that's a long shot but we can live in hope 🤞) and hope the new cream helps 😊
Salicylic acid 2% or higher body wash or face wash helps the build up and stink from the bacteria. I also use it under my breast area. I find using the purple top clearasil lotion or equate(Walmart used to make one that was purple topped too) This has helped every bump from dead skin and sebum I’ve found on my body. Even the rubbing of inner thighs can heal and be soothed with the purple lotion!!
I came back by and saw this comment and thought it really does because it’s the active ingredient in aspirin which the use low doses to prevent heart attack!!!
I've had HS since I was 11, and I'm so glad this patient has you in their corner. I had both armpits removed and left to granulate from the inside out. Unfortunately, I am a pain for picking, I'm constantly attacking my thighs to remove blackheads
She waxes the people she extracts for the most part. Little does she know she's causing the ingrowns by waxing... When the hair is ripped out from the follicle it has to try to find it's way back out thru the skin
@@NostaIgiaJunkie So why is she having problems finding content being that her clients that brought her the best footage skin is now healed and clear Leaving them to only have to book for waxings now?

My disabled daughter has suffered with this for more than 30 years. Her dermatologist told her not to shave, just trim the armpit hair with scissors but not too close. Also, he advised her not to use any deodorant that contains aluminum. I pray that in the near future, someone can find a cure for this very painful disease.
This proves if you want hairless pits - then bin the razor and go to a reputable Beauty Salon and be waxed! It may hurt for 24-hours, but you will not have to go through all this painful procedure! Keep up the good work Doctor Lynch! xxx
I wish there were more videos of HS, especially when you add a little information into them - because here in Sweden the doctors nor dermatologists seem to know what they're really doing and it have scarred me both physically and mentally. I suffer from HS stage II on the more severe side and I'm so frustrated over having to educate the doctors with my own research... I feel less lonely when seeing videos like this, thank you and thank you to the patient for sharing videos like these.
I long for the early days when my HS looked like this. It’s a progressive, insidious and a debilitating disease with no cure. Only treatments that gradually stop helping and surgeries that fail. I’m at the point now where my mobility is very limited because my groin and butt are decimated, scarred and constantly draining. Thank God for FB HS support groups!

I’m wondering if she didn’t shave her arm pits if that helps? I know you have directed her about that already, so I’m asking because I don’t know. Thanks for the kind care you have given her ❤
I agree. I had boils off and on since my teens. There’s the little lumps now, but at the time it was so terribly painful. My whole body was sore and I could do little else but put my hands on my hips until with hot packs, I brought the boil up and lanced it. I quit pit shaving several years ago an hav not had any reoccurrence. This poor lady seem o have very curly hairs which will easily embed them selves. My hair is straight, so I as never this extreme. I wish our society would get over the obsession of nude legs, pits, chests, and pubes. Hair is natural. If it becomes a nuisance, trim it, but not too short. I hope I have not been insensitive, I have very sparse hair except on my head and upper lip. I had a professor who bleached her upper lip. It is not ugly! Best to you all, especially this lady. I truly hope your suffering becomes less with Mr. PopZit! 😃
I had one under my arm. Ohhh it was stanky. Lol It had bout 5 hairs in it. A whole WIG! lol It fills up every few months. I couldn’t imagine having multiple ones. I hope she can find relief and dont have to deal with this a lifetime.
These are the most painful! Thanks for education, I've only experienced them a few times I'm thinking the patent ' hybrid pop'? Use the cotton tip to get under the pocket and work it up that way? Being a surgeon you have an insight to these little monsters 👍. Nice job Doc

The sad thing is it only works for mild cases and it's not a guarantee. Such a shitty disease, honestly.

My c n😊xc
😂😂😂 yeah buddy you thought wrong
I just had sepsis two weeks ago. Left lobe pneumonia that was so severe I went septic and had respiratory failure.

😅
I have also suffered from HS for so many years and I wish my doctor would have been more thorough with me.. You’re awesome at ur job and compassionate.
My mom lived with the constant infections from H.S. and she thought it meant she was not a clean person so never spoke to a doctor about the problem. So sad. Finally she had a doctor, like you, who was very sensitive to her shame over the problem. It made such a difference in the quality of Mom's life to know she hadn't caused the H.S. Your kindness to your patients will bring more people to get the help they so badly need.
❤
❤❤❤
I love when you pick the hairs out. Thanks for showing them.
Laser hair removal for my underarms was the best thing I ever did. Worth every dollar.
Samee,no more pain!!!
Exactly
What a beautiful woman, to share her arm pit problem.. She is helping people. I think she's amazing!!
I like that you show the hairs and actually give explanations. It’s really nice to learn.
I’m sure this is very painful. Ouch. Bless you for being so caring. Thanks to your patients for sharing!
I like when you are respectful of your patients. Thank for sharing your knowledge with us.
I have hidradenitis suppurativa and I so appreciate you bringing awareness to this disease.
Me too. I hate that i find comfort in knowing im not alone in this struggle.
Bless you for your excellent care & prayers for your lovely client ♥️🙏🏼🌹👏🏼
HS is not anything that I ever knew existed. Thank you for helping to bring this to my attention.
The people that have and will sit through this procedure are my heros! It must take nerves of steel to sit through all of that undeniable discomfort and pain. This particular client took it like a champ and didn't flinch once that I saw. I bow to your true internal strength and your willingness to share your experiences. 🎉❤
Thank you patient for sharing, so personal, but Greg makes you feel comfortable and we appreciate it😊
I love watching your channel and I have been just diagnosed with hidradentis suppurativa so this video got my attention and thank you
Wow, I enjoyed the educational part of this.
My thoughts, exactly.
The most accurate representation of HS I’ve heard… whammy. Thank you for making me smile 😊💟
Ingrown hair are very common and they hurt when doctor pull it out it is even worse than ingrown toes and ingrown hairs are everywhere in the body
@@jaysonthetrainmasterprofil221
I mean I don't know if ingrown hairs are generally worse than ingrown toe nails lol.
I love watching all of your videos. I watch them often. They help me relax and go to sleep easily.
Sorry you have to go threw this. Have you ever looked into laser hair removal? It might not heal completely, but it does help with flare ups
@@honeypotinreallife8544 just awful 😢
That first pop was massive!! I was figuring that since it was so small it would be just a little coming out, but that one surprised me.
Such a great MD with a lovely disposition!!
Really admire people showing their HS to us, so glad she’s getting some help. Commented before that if this helps 1 HS sufferer seek advice it’s fantastic 🙌🤍
Such a gentle doctor, love the pops!
Such a wonderful woman. Thank you to the patient and the Great Doc. Doc you are such a kind passionate human being!
You love your job! Good for you. FYI: I go fishing every summer on Lake Sakagawea, ND. You'd love it there.
Poor dear! You’re so gentle, bless you. Love that she’s getting the laser hair removal done!
I was just about to ask if it hurts. I’m sorry that you went untreated so long. Sending healing blessings 🙏🏾❤️🩹🙏🏾
@@voodoochile4147 Hurting is an under statement. It feels like an electrical burn coursing through my body.
Prayers for healing for you!
Very interesting. Thank you patient for sharing with us. Good luck with the hair removal!!! 😊
HS is so difficult to deal with. A big thank you to the lady for allowing us to watch & I wish her all the best. Take care Greg & cheers 🥰
I love that these amazing people share their story with us. They're amazing and I feel like they give others hope that this condition can be assuaged when you find a professional who cares...some don't care and that's a creepy feeling when you encounter the careless...I really appreciate "Mr. Popzit". Thank you all for sharing!❤
He seems to go a great job at making his patients feel comfortable!
I think to a fault and at the expense of not getting the pore fully cleared...
I've suffered with HS since 1993. I was only 13 and this condition wasn't widely known about. I know the relief that will be felt from the pressure that builds up under the skin from this condition. 👌🏾. It's not nice to have, but great that it's spoken about more, and starting to be treated well. 💙
@Nicola Palmer it must have been difficult to cope with HS at 13, hope your HS has improved or at least less painful. Treatment must be expensive too!
It’s been a minute since I saw a quality blackhead removal video! Thanks! 🙏❤️
Salicylic acid 2% or higher body wash or face wash helps the build up and stink from the bacteria. I also use it under my breast area. I find using the purple top clearasil lotion or equate(Walmart used to make one that was purple topped too)
This has helped every bump from dead skin and sebum I’ve found on my body. Even the rubbing of inner thighs can heal and be soothed with the purple lotion!!
That stuff SAVES LIVES. It is seriously magic.
Remember when the funny Urban Extractions lady thought this "stuff" was old deodorant? 😂 those were some good pops though!
Lmao yes
Her name is Jada, if you know urban extractions, it’s urban extractions by Jada Kennedy
I had to stop watching because of the ignorance 😅
Awesome video Greg! Thx so much for sharing!! Keep them coming please!!
You have the absolute BEST extraction vids!!! Love them!!! Thank you for sharing!!!
Good to see you back! We know you are a busy guy. Glad all is OK, your fans miss your videos when you're not on. 😊😊
This patient has the most willpower. I would not be able to help myself popping and picking at those. My niece has this and she will be in the mirror until she gets them.
Now I click like, thumbs up before I watch the video. I know you are the best person for this job.
I always feel very sad for the people who have this dreadful condition. I’m so glad you can help them.
Loved this video you are so good at treating the patient with dignity and respect. What a difference when you took the blackheads out of the pores thank you both for sharing Martha from Scotland
These are amazing to watch!
Really enjoyed this one, Greg. It would be fun to see the laser hair removal. Take care!
I know he made music during times we did not hear him on the radio. But I think he was content to live off of his royalties. He played or created music at his own pace. I don't think he ever intended for his music to just fill up a jukebox!

WOW!! In my opinion..you are one of the luckiest guys on earth to be able to do this every day..lol..I'm currently knocking on 60's door and really, I wish I would have realized how much I loved what you do sooner then 6-7 yrs ago because I def would have made this my career!! Your just amazing!! Fantastic care for your patients!
She was a trooper that's quite painful there my aunt had a fat nodule in armpit Dr tied it off it fell off after couple days great content dude greetings from the uk 🇺🇲👍🇬🇧🦊🐾
Brave lady! I feel her pain!
I found this so interesting, you explain things in a way that people can understand. I hope that you can help this lady get relief from what looks like a really painful condition 😊
Thank you so much for sharing and being so transparent with HS.
My disabled daughter has suffered with this for more than 30 years. Her dermatologist told her not to shave, just trim the armpit hair with scissors but not too close. Also, he advised her not to use any deodorant that contains aluminum. I pray that in the near future, someone can find a cure for this very painful disease.
picking the hairs out is my favorite part!!! SO SATISFYING!! like little slivers of you that even your body doesnt want
Always point out the hairs, it’s informative. Bless her heart, that’s got to be so painful day to day. I would do laxer hair removal as well.
You’re good! Answered my question even before I had it fully formed!
Excellent procedure as always.
Very interesting! Thank You so very much for sharing this.❤❤❤
Another learning lesson. 😊❤
Greg, I LOVE when you show us the ingrown hairs! Please never stop!😂❤
My mom and aunt had HS. The scarring was massive👍
This has to be painful and embarrassing. I’m sure she’ll be Thankful when it’s cleared up. Thank You Doc! Can’t wait to see the end result 😉🙏🏻
Glad to know she will be getting hair removal treatment! I hope she can be rid of her hidradenitis suppurativa under her arms!
If I ever had a problem like this I would fly to Dr Popzit to get rid of it! He's the greatest ❤️!
I just love your channel thank you this relaxes me and it’s also very informative
I’m terribly saddened for you. I hate skin issues ❤
I’m so sorry 😞
Hey I have this . What is the solution
You rock! Just do your job and explain as you go. No wasting time on your videos with preliminary chit chat and prepping with tons of happy juice. Keep up the great work❤❤❤❤❤

Goodness that looks so painful. Bless her heart! Thank you for educating us on this condition! ❤
Thanks for sharing, Greg. Haven't seen too many of these, so your explanation helped!
You uploaded less than a minute ago and I gotta click it right away.
I’m so blessed for I do not any of these issues. Not even acne as a teen
I couldn't tolerate the ticklish aspect of the process. Not many medical offices will do this for you. Bet it saves a lot of grief! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I luv how u teach us about the things u show us common peeps. It's just so fascinating

These are the most painful! Thanks for education, I've only experienced them a few times I'm thinking the patent ' hybrid pop'? Use the cotton tip to get under the pocket and work it up that way? Being a surgeon you have an insight to these little monsters 👍. Nice job Doc
