My daughter has HS and we’ve had such a hard time finding a doctor who knows how to treat and manage it. She’s 16 now and has been suffering with it for about 4 years. It’s so frustrating. I like your simple explanations and your kind, gentle care. I wish there were many more like you.

I have a very mild case, but something that helped me was not using anti perspirant. There’s a difference between deodorant and antiperspirant. It works by blocking the sweat gland aka pores. Also exfoliating regularly. I hope your daughter finds what works best for her!

Thank you. She gets it mainly in groin the area. We have found that using free and clear laundry detergent, organic feminine products and the new period underwear, elastic free underwear or none at all if possible, exfoliating in the shower and keeping her from getting overheated have been a big help in reducing flare ups. She’s got a lot of allergies too so we have to be extra careful with everything we use.

I think the most important thing to remember when doing extractions on a patient with HS is that if you are too aggressive you can cause a flare and he does a very good job of removing the blackheads with minimal trauma to the skin. It's a difficult balance!

If this was my armpit or the armpit of someone I cared about Id be going to town on that as Im a picker. No zit, bump or blackhead can live on me long...and thats why im always bleeding. Dermatologists in Canada are pretty booked up and usually only prescribe meds, so ive had to resort to my own tactics. Love blackhead content ty Mr/Dr Pop Zit

      What exactly is HS?

    • @LisaNC832
      @LisaNC832 Год назад

@@tabletopempire7049HS is a systemic, inflammatory skin condition affecting hair follicles and sweat glands. While the exact cause is unknown, it is thought that an overactive immune system produces too much inflammation throughout the body-not just the skin. HS usually affects areas where the skin rubs together, often starting around a hair follicle, causing it to become blocked.

I have severe HS. I make sure I remove any blackheads that occur within the scarring. Some of the scars will develop MASSIVE blackheads. I don't like knowing there is sebum, dirt etc in my pores and I'm sure I'm helping my HS by making sure I keep my pores as clean as possible. I use Hibiclens at the end of my showers just to kill off as much surface bacteria in my HS areas as possible and I make sure I keep shaved. Some doctors say to not shave but I have proven shaving can help. My dermatologist recommends I stay on top of shaving because I tried NOT shaving since it's claimed to make things worse, but I've had the opposite result and so have many others that see my dermatologist. I honestly never considered having my doctor remove my blackheads. I just stay on top of them so they don't become too numerous.
I'm a bad patient and I open up my inflamed "boils" myself. I do it in a sterile fashion so I don't wind up causing myself bacterial infections. Once they are incredibly inflamed and the skin is pulled taut and thin, I don't usually even feel when I open them. Then it's just wonderful relief from the pressure. I don't recommend everyone do it themselves unless they know what they're doing. I have access to medical instruments, which makes a big difference. I've also had HS for 20 years now and there's no way I would want to go to the doctor every time I have a flare. It's too much time, money and annoyance for me LOL

He can't advertise towards women of color, it's unethical. No one should single out a person for good or bad because of the color of their skin. I'm a white woman who has lived with this condition for over 20 years. I was only able to go to a doctor once for it. When I was in college I was able to stay on my dad's insurance. I haven't been able to afford a specialist like him since. I suffer from cysts in other area's as well.
So my point is...every type of person needs help, we are all people. Stop separating people by color, that's the problem with this country. No one deserves to be treated better or worse, no matter what they look like, where they are from or what color they are. I deserve help with my condition just as much as the next woman.

@@e.g.3727 Every doctor has their own way of doing these kind of procedures. Alot of the time he cleans the skin before he records and he'll clean the area afterwards when he's done filming. I'm guessing he figures most of us aren't here to see him clean the skin before and after he's done. And as a fan myself, I don't want to see that either! I came for the pops! Just because you don't see him do it doesn't mean he hasn't. And even if he didn't clean at the start, I bet he cleaned her skin afterwards. And this is a recurring skin condition so no matter what he does, the blackheads, etc. will comeback eventually. He's doing this to give her some kind of relief.

Oh my gosh, My Pop, I REALLY love your sense of humor! I had a job that I had to sit as security at the top of the Coit Tower in SF. I was lucky enough to be able to use my phone to pass the time and one of my favorite things to do was to watch MrPopZit!!! I always use to watch them on mute though because of that. Well today I just got the sudden urge to watch your videos.
I use to get pimples a lot, even into my early 30s. Around 33 I just stopped getting them ALL together. In a lot of ways I am lucky but I do miss popping stuff in all honesty. I just have an odd obsession with the phenomenon and you seem to share the same feeling.
I was lucky enough to get a cyst when I was living in a highly populated living situation and I think it was staph. I got anti biotic and everything but it got pretty big. I let it get really big before I took the bandaid off. It was so moist and oozy when I took it off. It was SO ready. You know the feeling when it's just begging you to squeeze. I gently pressed and felt this amazing, tingly, relaxing pop that oozed out this crazy cool color. It was like grey and green stripes. A new color. You and I also share the fascination with the fact that they are always unique not only per person, but per zit as well.
Anyway I love your stufff sorry for that zit-flick. Have a nize-en.

I promise I’m not trying to tell u how to do your job. I have hs and discovered by doing what your doing stops big break outs. I bought tweezers I seen on a Chinese channel. They curve around on the ends and have pointed tips. They work awesome on the arm pits. The stubborn ones u get under till it starts popping out. Then u can pull it out. They also loosen stuff up to pull out. Just a suggestion. You are so awesome for staying on top of this patient!

That's how my HS presents itself. I just get an inflamed bump in the axillae, groin, or under my breast - and then as it gets larger it gets infected and turns into a pus filled cyst. Most of the time they drain on their own, once the skin gets so stretched. But axillae ones can be particularly difficult and I've been to the ER to have them drained. Last time I went it so inflamed and infected there was no way to put Lidocaine in it without having to peel me off the ceiling, so I just had to take it while the doc did the incision. Not fun.

Of course i never go after anything serious like a cyst. But after almost 20 years of doing massage i just love the days when people want an inexpensive way to get their skin looking good before the beach. I've seen some whoppers. So fun.

I have this condition. One of the things I do to eliminate flare ups is to wax the underarm and bikini area instead of shaving. Waxing gets down in all the little nooks and crannies not only removing hair, but also the surface blackheads preventing them from becoming inflamed and painful. I prefer five seconds of sting compared to up to two weeks of pain and discomfort from an infection. I also use a tea tree oil body wash and let it sit on my skin before rinsing. Don't know if this is okay, but it helps me. 😸

I’m so scared to wax and cause a flare up. 😢 But I use an antibacterial soap and only apart deodorant. Before the deodorant I rub alcohol all over the pits. The sticks seem to clog my pores more. I’ve noticed that stress makes kicks off a flare up session too. It’s a really difficult balance to walk with this. I damn near fall into a depression the moment I feel any tenderness start to form.

Does your insurance require a referral to a specialist? If so, request one. If the GP refuses, ask a different doctor for the referral until you find one who will give it. It’s important that you get to a dermatologist to help with this issue.

@@joannamccolvin3194 Have you actually ASKED your GP for a referral to a dermatologist? If you have asked and he refused, can you file a complaint or switch to another GP? As you stated, most GPs do not know anything about HS so I think you should insist on a referral. There is a dermatologist in UK Dr. Khaled Sadek who has a RUclips channel and he does live chats regarding dermatology problems. He also gives info on how to reach out to him. Check his channel, he may be able to help you. I don't think MrPopZit is allowed to give individual advice on here. Good Luck to you, I too have HS and know only too well the pain you endure.
