Anyone else noticed how the reactors on smaller ships can power more/larger guns that barley fit the ship in addition to everything else. While the larger ships tend to be very... Under armed
Yeah, the older Dreadnought cruisers (think Katana fleet) are a great example of that. In Star Wars Legends lore, by the time of the Empire they were relatively cheap and easy to maintain for a large capital ship. But, that was offset by outdated systems, a slow sublight cruising speed and not many heavy weapon hard points (even though they were roughly 2/3 the size of a Victory Star Destroyer). The Corporate Sector Authority liked to use them as their ships-of-the-line in the old Han Solo novels.
Perhaps Star Wars reactors suffer from the law of diminishing returns as they get larger/need to power larger ships, so smaller spaceframes end up overpowered while larger vessels come across as relatively underwhelming and lethargic.
@@AdmiralBlackstar That's fixable in a larger ship by installing several reactors built for smaller ships, You can't tell me a civilization that has mastered FTL technology cant figure out optimization of power between a multi-source system.
it's not like the couldn't add more guns either, during the vong war the Republic stripped all the guns off the lusankya (a super star destroyer) and just slapped them on isd 1's until they had so many guns that when light hit the side of the ships almost all you could see was turbolaser batteries.

Star wing wasn't as bad as you're saying. It was made to combat x-wings, having the same maneuverability while being a bit slower. Still, it was an advanced starfighter, it had strong hull, stronger shields and could drop all of it's ordnance at once, making it a perfect strike craft. Ion cannons also helped to battle smaller capital ships. It also had a hyperdrive, which combined with it's 2 ordnance launchers made it an amazing surgical strike craft.
I always considered the Star Wing as sitting between an Y and B wing; A bomber/heavy fighter with the ability to defend itself against most fighters. Unfortunately on the wrong side of asymmetric warfare.
@@robertmartinu8803 oh it's way more maneuverable than an Y-wing. While also being faster. It's a good dogfighting craft, maybe some angled target profile leaves much to be desired but it makes it up with hull durability and shielding. Strike-wise it has the same secondary loadout as the B-wing, but heavily lacks ion firepower. But with it's launchers and targeting computer allowing to fire all ordnance at once I think it can serve as a mini torpedo sphere against small frigates- fly in front of a Nebulon B frigate, completely overcharge&overuse ion cannons to dent the shields of the frigate a bit and then Fire 10 out of 12 of your proton torpedos directly at the frigate's bridge. An impact like that should lower the shields enough in order to fire additional torpedoes at now undefended bridge. Or pack like 6 ion torpedoes and 6 regular ones. boom, boom. Frigate gone. Hell, I think it would work against a Dreadnought Heavy Cruiser but don't quote me on that.
I remember playing the Star Wars: Rebellion strategy game on the PC in the early 2000's. The Carrack Light Cruiser was one of my favorites for exploration/scouting since it had a very high in-game hyperspace speed, but it was only available for the Empire. I would build a fleet of about 6 to 10 and just send it all over the place in an effort to find the Rebel headquarters.

I always found it funny... In naval terms, a destroyer is a small, fast ship, usually assigned to carrier escort duty. In Star Wars, star destroyers are large capital ships that functions more like carriers.
No they arnt. Things like the praetor or even executor filled the rolls of a battleship. Star destroyers are simply all you need to secure a systemcfrom pirates. Likecdestroyers todsy are used to hunt down pirates. And destroyers arnt small. Frigates and corvettes are small.
That's largely just do the massive scale of ships in Star Wars. Those Destroyers really are to scale of, say, a modern Missile Destroyer next to a WW2 Battleship (or a SW "Dreadnought"). The odd term in SW is "Cruiser," which is typically between the two previously-mentioned categories in size, but in SW seem to be all over the place.
man i love the Gladiator class ISD 600m ship with a decen't hangar for the size and weapons much more useful to deploy 3 or 4 of those insted of an ISD with pickets.
58:97 Actually, the best way for the Trade Federation to have won the Clone Wars would have been for them to go for the more expensive Droid Option of Heuristic Processors instead of a Centralized Command & Control Brain and Remote Receivers in each Battle Droid...if all their Droids could operate independently from the Central Control Ship, then they would have been MUCH harder to stop and at least 10x more dangerous and effective combatants...
Also the gladiator star destroyer definitely packs more than 2 squadrons of starfighters, it must've been an error in the data. Especially considering how many hangar space it has and how tight can tie fighters be paced. People estimate 4-6 squadrons on this ship
Im not sure how accurate it is but the one in empire at war thrawns revenge has 4 squadrons. Most of the details are accurate in the game with very few mistakes
As a philly native and lifelong philly sports fan, I will say you would only need that kind of fire power if you’re a Dallas fan😂 for anyone curious the joke starts at about 14:14
Great vid. Thanks for showing the C47. I grew up on Air Force bases around that plane. My dad put in a total of 21,000 flight hours with over 15k in the C47. He spent years working with the manufacturer to develop that plane as a gunship to be used in Vietnam.

Hello 👋 I have a video idea if you already haven't done it. You could do a video on what weapon(s) and|or vehicle (s) could counter an AT-AP, AT-DP, AT-ST, AT-AT, AT-M6, and any other walker I've missed. (The weapon(s) and|or vehicle(s) can come from any era in Star Wars. For example, Clone war, Imperial, and First Order era.)
Actually @Generation Tech ,the MC30C Frigate does not lack the redundant shielding Mon Cal ships are known for but it does have an extra thin hull plating/armor because it needed to be fast .
"The Jedi's mission to to maintain peace and order in the Galaxy, and most importantly, prevent loss of life." "Let's give them Bombers!" - Some republic aviation weapons officer
The volume of this video was all over the fucking place. One moment I have to raise the volume because the guy is whispering, the next the music is super loud, then I lower the volume and suddenly I can't tell what he's saying, so I raise the volume again and he starts yelling (or rather, he's not yelling, but his volume is raised super high), so my neighbors are now knocking at the door. I guess what I'm trying to say is: "What the fuck?" Sincerely, a subscriber
my favorite part of the Gladiator, is that in most of its art you can see the hole for the peg. It was most heavily featured in the tabletop game star wars armada, and im guessing their sculp is used as the basis for most of its art and the artists keep forgetting theres not a huge hole in the middle of the generator dome
i love how red paint is the republics universal sign for diplomatic vessles and also what they paint all their ships as including the venators. do i smell another war crime.
Tector 0 starfighter isn't as stupid as look. Made in clone wars, if they will cooperate with Venators, its realy good mix. Venator bring starfighters and will be in rear postions and Tector go fight larger ships
Easter eggs everywhere in these great ships compilation. Take a peek at the droid chef on the commercial ship our doomed lovers are riding. It reappears in Bib Fortuna's kitchen when Fennick & Boba enter the palace.
At first I thought inserting a lightsaber to make the weapons fire was functional, and therefore stupid, but then I hear it's actually symbolic, and that's actually damn cool
The Nu-Class attack transport is my favorite shuttle in Star Wars. Other ships I like that were mentioned include: The V-Wing starfighter The VT-49 Decimator The Gladiator Star Destroyer Raider ll Class Corvette Pelta Class Frigate Starhawk Battleship
I LOVE starship content it’s the most amazing part of Star Wars to me and appreciate the vids. Also, Star Wars Empire at War, the Thrawn’s Revenge Mod?? Makes it possible to see some of these ships in action and it’s amazing.
Let's just say that if the empire focused on even mass production of half of the ships planned for them.. then things certainly would have turned out differently
(At 29:07) I have a hot wheels di-cast metal, model of the Imperial Arrestor Cruiser. It first appeared (in canon anyway) in one of the deleted scenes from the Solo anthology film.
Have you already covered the possibility of Palpatine using the materials that would have been used to finish DS2 to kick start the First Order and even the factories on Exegol? I also think Palpatine’s death in ROTJ was a logical evolution of a Sith Lord who knows how to cheat death!
Sure, it made perfect sense for one as arrogant as Palpatine, whose Force Visions showed his victory, to not only have a back plan set up years in advance, but also have a revenge plan so he could come back and rule the ashes of his funeral pyre.
Got a correction on the star wing in xwing games its classed as a gunboats in the tie fighter game and the others then there is a missile variant called the missile boat
Have you ever heard of the Tie Phantom. Yes I remember stealing one as a young rebel. An old PS1 game with live action characters had this ship and you stole it and brought it back to the rebels.
I looked at Ownasaber's stuff. nice hilts... just wish there was one with a duelist's hilt. like Count Dooku's. I fence as a hobby and I can't see any other logical way to use a blade that can cut through absolutely anything than as a rapier, assuming the light blade is weightless or at least very light.
Most Definitely, Most Abso-fraking-lutely loved and Truly, Truly enjoyed watching this Incredibly Awesome 1hr+ vid of some Star Wars Starship goodness right here!!!!! This is, without a fraking doubt in my mind, my Most Absolute favorites video that I have watched So fraking Far!!!!!!!!!!
In the D6 SW RPG (TTRPG), Adventure Module "Strikeforce Shantipole", the Legends accounting of the origins of the B-wing, I had to just scrap the B-wing entirely in favor of the much more fun, Rylan Gunstar and Gunstar-S (Death Blossom Variant).
It’s been two years since your comment and I’ve gone back and listen to stuff years before this and I’ve listen to stuff use after this. I don’t hear any problems so I think it might just be you Bruh.
One is a smaller, but relatively high yield conventional warhead. While the other is actually a scaled down hydrogen bomb. Considering that, it probably would take a couple of Proton Torpedoes to down the first Death Star, even while being detonated in the reactor core.
Just some constructive feedback; you should spend some time leveling out the audio when editing. The volume spikes and drops and generally could be mixed better between commentary and background music. Love the video otherwise
I know this is full head canon, but what if the reason the Empire (who, essentially commanded all star fighter production...or, ALL production, really) didn't supply hyperdrive engines to it's individual fighters because it never trusted its own pilots? Imagine putting a squadron of pilots you've trained for months into a world class fighter...and then given them the ability to steal it. The Empire had, literally, infinite resources. They funded their own rebellion. Andor made it clear that the Empire no longer cared about paying anyone for anything when it came to paying for shit...
I actually really the Tector class. In fact, I think it's a better design than the Imperial. The Imperial was truly best as getting into massive slugfests and the Tector was even better at that. One Tector and one Venator are a terrifying pair that complements and eliminates the other's weaknesses.
great videos lots of info. but it would be nice if you would fix your volume. it gets so low you can hear it then it goes so load it blows out your ears.

The odd term in SW is "Cruiser," which is typically between the two previously-mentioned categories in size, but in SW seem to be all over the place.
Yeessss!
man i love the Gladiator class ISD 600m ship with a decen't hangar for the size and weapons much more useful to deploy 3 or 4 of those insted of an ISD with pickets.
Agreed I wish it got some more love in and out of universe :D
Just imagine what it could fit with an extra 66m on its length
@@greatthinker4209 a lot of the devils lettuce
@@jay-1800 ahh additional storage space for morale, good thinking 😁🤙
In thrawns revenge I usually use like 3 gladiators over an ISD
The time has come, execute rare ship list 66
It will be done, my Lord.
@@TruePacifist201 thank you
Ship: Are you sure you want to laser these civilians?
Jedi: Yeah no, my cockpit is red, it's all good.
Congrats to Steve for making flag rank! He'd had some tough times, so making it that far is damn impressive!
The audio quality wasn't all there for this one ngl but still great video love the channel!
Perhaps the archives are incomplete
Im not sure how accurate it is but the one in empire at war thrawns revenge has 4 squadrons. Most of the details are accurate in the game with very few mistakes
Love it how the Music is louder then the Talking
As a philly native and lifelong philly sports fan, I will say you would only need that kind of fire power if you’re a Dallas fan😂 for anyone curious the joke starts at about 14:14
Be nice to have this time stamped with all the diffrent ships
feel free to make it
I think this was a great video except for the difference in audio level for different ships and the poor editing
SometimES I HAVE difficulty CONTroling thE VOLUME OF MY voice
It is not poor editing, you are obviously just not blinking correctly. It requires much practice to get it right. Lol
Massive content in this video that has to be respected. Sound mixing was sacrificed though.
Generally speaking, the larger a ship is, the rarer it tends to be.
yes and no
Great vid. Thanks for showing the C47. I grew up on Air Force bases around that plane. My dad put in a total of 21,000 flight hours with over 15k in the C47. He spent years working with the manufacturer to develop that plane as a gunship to be used in Vietnam.
49:16 Am I the only one who thinks the Pelta-class frigate looks blatantly Corellian despite being a Kuat Drive Yards product?
Gladiator class star destroyer: "We tried to specifically find an imperial star destroyer that wasn't wedge-shaped" *Shows a picture of a ship with TWO WEDGES*
This video was a behemoth, but I loved it. This vid is full of cool ships that aren’t really given the spotlights.
Been loving this starship content you’ve been doing lately
Awesome video
Thanks for the video
Didn't know there will be such numerous ships in star wars universe
Bruh that sponsor deal blew my ears out 😭😭
*I appreciate this video, I really do, but the music is kind of obnoxiously loud.*
The Eclipse-class Super Star Destroyer is probably one of my favorite Star Destroyer types
Hello 👋
I have a video idea if you already haven't done it.
Great idea!
Actually @Generation Tech ,the MC30C Frigate does not lack the redundant shielding Mon Cal ships are known for but it does have an extra thin hull plating/armor because it needed to be fast .
"The Jedi's mission to to maintain peace and order in the Galaxy, and most importantly, prevent loss of life."
"Let's give them Bombers!"
- Some republic aviation weapons officer
I love the long format! Means I can listen to it like a podcast :)
Eeey! The Starwing is the Gunboat from X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter! :D I love that thing!
I guess what I'm trying to say is: "What the fuck?"
Sincerely,
a subscriber
my favorite part of the Gladiator, is that in most of its art you can see the hole for the peg. It was most heavily featured in the tabletop game star wars armada, and im guessing their sculp is used as the basis for most of its art and the artists keep forgetting theres not a huge hole in the middle of the generator dome
Audio mixing Is a bit weird this video
Tactically, an open droid socket seems odd. You would think there might be an armored lid or something
Usually the shields would be enough to protect them. Vader got a lucky shot off on R2.
The Tector, when your team made a mistake but you don't want to admit it.
audio is mad jacked up throughout the beginning
You guys should make a video about rarest droids
i love how red paint is the republics universal sign for diplomatic vessles and also what they paint all their ships as including the venators. do i smell another war crime.
Even though it’s not on the list, the Gozanti-Class Cruiser will always be one of my favorites behind the I1SD and the Resurgent Class SD
PHILLY SPORTS!!!! Finally get a mention
Bro I love your videos how deep in depth you go when explaining star warS have made me a true Generation Tech fan #KeepitGoing
Lots of work went into this. Thanks for creating!
Bro turn down the gawd dayum music
does anyone get a headache from their abrupt transitions? Is it just me?
thank you Alan for all the killer content you put out! i really appreciate it. you are bad ass brother!
Love these longer compilation videos, keep up the great work. Humanity first!
So much information to absorb. Any suggestions for more videos to study and watch?
I suggest ecksheartladder
Something to listen to while I’m doing my art homework! Thanks!
At first I thought inserting a lightsaber to make the weapons fire was functional, and therefore stupid, but then I hear it's actually symbolic, and that's actually damn cool
Video editing and sound is all over the place. Are you okay over there?
"I specifically looked for non wedge shaped star destroyers." Galactic Empire: laughs in different arrangements of wedge shaped star destroyers.
What was up with the mid lore ad interruption for a built in sponsored ad?
Long videos are the best. Thank you generation tech
It’s worth noting that the designer for the Secutor says he has no idea where 144 Starfighters comes form, and 500-700 is more accurate.
The Nu-Class attack transport is my favorite shuttle in Star Wars. Other ships I like that were mentioned include:
The V-Wing starfighter
The VT-49 Decimator
The Gladiator Star Destroyer
Raider ll Class Corvette
Pelta Class Frigate
Starhawk Battleship
I learn more about Star Wars here than any other place, Thanks!!
Great work GenTech, I really like the Carrack class cruiser and Victory class ISD.
I LOVE starship content it’s the most amazing part of Star Wars to me and appreciate the vids. Also, Star Wars Empire at War, the Thrawn’s Revenge Mod?? Makes it possible to see some of these ships in action and it’s amazing.
Finally, someone mentioned the Jedi bomber!
Let's just say that if the empire focused on even mass production of half of the ships planned for them.. then things certainly would have turned out differently
(At 29:07)
I have a hot wheels di-cast metal, model of the Imperial Arrestor Cruiser. It first appeared (in canon anyway) in one of the deleted scenes from the Solo anthology film.
Title: *exists*
Me: *Nice*
Have you already covered the possibility of Palpatine using the materials that would have been used to finish DS2 to kick start the First Order and even the factories on Exegol? I also think Palpatine’s death in ROTJ was a logical evolution of a Sith Lord who knows how to cheat death!
Sure, it made perfect sense for one as arrogant as Palpatine, whose Force Visions showed his victory, to not only have a back plan set up years in advance, but also have a revenge plan so he could come back and rule the ashes of his funeral pyre.
Assault Frigate Mark I was the continuation of the Dreadnought. Not the Mark II.
Got a correction on the star wing in xwing games its classed as a gunboats in the tie fighter game and the others then there is a missile variant called the missile boat
another great video but LOUD MUSIC mixed with quieter commentary really it's annoying
" What would you like to call this new class of star destroyer? " ' GIRTH. '
Where's my Cygnus Missile Boat?
Most Definitely, Most Abso-fraking-lutely loved and Truly, Truly enjoyed watching this Incredibly Awesome 1hr+ vid of some Star Wars Starship goodness right here!!!!!
This is, without a fraking doubt in my mind, my Most Absolute favorites video that I have watched So fraking Far!!!!!!!!!!
5:02 it looks like a romulan bird of prey!
Damn guys
A full hour video
5:14 Holy dam!! That looks more like a B-17 Flying Fortress...
My ear drums popped like the death star. thanks Alan. :)
Liked for XG-1 gunboat!
I like the Headhunter because I understand it's plight. I too am perpetually hunting for head.
Not sure how bad sound mixing continues to plague this channel after all these years!
It’s been two years since your comment and I’ve gone back and listen to stuff years before this and I’ve listen to stuff use after this. I don’t hear any problems so I think it might just be you Bruh.
I was so confused by the length of this video lol
What’s the difference between a concussion missile and a proton torpedo?
One is a smaller, but relatively high yield conventional warhead. While the other is actually a scaled down hydrogen bomb. Considering that, it probably would take a couple of Proton Torpedoes to down the first Death Star, even while being detonated in the reactor core.
Huh, looks like we're back to normal. Wonder if the Jedi bombers use any high yield munitions
Just some constructive feedback; you should spend some time leveling out the audio when editing. The volume spikes and drops and generally could be mixed better between commentary and background music. Love the video otherwise
Cool video out of no where!! Really awesome thanks!!
I love Geonosian warships, it would be so cool to control a ship through smell.
That would be hard, what if i smell food while piloting?
I’m starting to think that the cipher blade is the only lightsaber they have.
*The only one they have that HE owns
I actually really the Tector class. In fact, I think it's a better design than the Imperial. The Imperial was truly best as getting into massive slugfests and the Tector was even better at that. One Tector and one Venator are a terrifying pair that complements and eliminates the other's weaknesses.
I'm got some tea and a nice chair. I'm ready to start assembling ships for my own personal fleet.
great videos lots of info. but it would be nice if you would fix your volume. it gets so low you can hear it then it goes so load it blows out your ears.
Why was the music so ducking loud
Looking at this background I think you should make a video on Star Wars best looking pilot outfits, infantry outfits, etc.
