  • A recollection and contemplation of the emotional aspects of the endeavours as described in the track title. The difficulties of letting go of emotional attachments - even those of a questionable nature... B+B
Sordid Affair is taken from The Inevitable End, the new album by Röyksopp. More information and links to listen and buy here: royksopp.com/music/the-inevita...

Sordid Affair features vocals by Ryan from Man Without Country:
    / manwithoutcountrymus
    ------
    Lyrics
    There was a time…
    Dark and devine…
    Exciting and new.
    shameful and true…
    Free to explore,
    we had it all:
    Towering trust,
    insatiable lust…
    Clouding the truth,
    both of us knew:
    this sordid affair
    is ending in tears…
    Yes, we would go on,
    knowing the wrong.
    Until the day,
    it was taken away…
    Oh, all our love
    fell down
    to earth…
    Here, broken and cold…
    With grave remorse…
    But for a while
    it all made sense…
It might have been just a dark pretence,
    but you had me…
    And I loved it…
    To be with you,
    to be the one,
    to live a lie,
it really got me all excited…
    I felt wanted…
    Then in the night,
    the sorrow inside,
    was taken away,
    deliverance came…
    Fell from the sky,
    heaven replied…
    Salvation in streams,
    silent and clean…
    All that we were,
    all that we knew,
    faded away,
    with tears in the rain…
    yes, all that we were,
    all that we knew
    is fading away,
    like tears in the rain…
    All that we were,
    all that we knew…
    …fading away…
    All that we were,
    all that we knew…
    …fading away…

this song reminds me of my late wife. It ended in tears for me. I knew she was sick. I lived that lie that she wasnt going to outlive me. It made me excited for the future, for our future. It all made sense for a while. It was a dark pretense... I knew she was sick. I knew she would not live, I ignored it... I didn't want to see it. I couldn't or wouldn't see it. To be the one, to be with her, I felt wanted. but in the night... deliverance came. All that we knew... all that we were... fading away. Now, I'm falling out of the sky... like so many tears in the rain. My Love fell gently into the earth, cold, broken, Grave, ...Remorse. I miss here so much. I miss here so... so... much.

Exciting and new, shameful and true
Free to explore we had it all.
    Towering trust, insatiable lust
Clouding the truth both of us knew
This sordid affair is ending in tears
Yes we must go on knowing the wrong
Hunting the day it was taken away
Oh, all our love fell down to Earth.
Here, broken and cold, with great remorse
Before a while it all made sense
It might have been just a dark pretence
    But you had me
    And I love it
To be with you, to be the one,
    To live a lie

Although the text is somewhat dark, this songs' lyrics are taken straight from life as it sometimes happens, it is absolutely perfect arranged, the music, the lyrics, they match like not too many other songs these days. It goes deep. It is amazingly beautiful despite the text... A wonderful timeless masterpiece!
