I play Pokemon FireRed, except every opposing pokemon has 5 abilities including Wonder Guard. Every loss, gym battle, and rival fight, I add another ability.
Not included in (most) of the video: me coding every ability into the game
This challenge starts hard and gets harder FAST. It's also my first challenge with chat interaction! I had so much fun on stream I decided to do a stream highlights video instead of my normal style - hope you all enjoy!

Are you porting these abilities over from one of those "everything from every gen because more is better" hacks, or are you reading their descriptions on Bulbapedia and trying to code implementations of them on the fly?

Question where is part 2 of this?
Wonder how things would have gone if the wheel got loaded with a bunch of stall stuff early on. Snow Warning, Ice Body, Snow Cloak, Moody, Fur Coat, Magic Guard, Ice Scales, and Intimidate sounds like a special kind of hell. Basically don't even need wonder guard at that point cause nothing's hitting anyway after an evasion boost from moody, and if something does connect it won't even hurt.

I play pokemon games for almost 20 years but never knew that Arena Trap does not affect flying types... 😆

I coded this using a "decompiled" version of FireRed, so the none of the code is written by Nintendo, but when it is compiled to binary, it matches exactly with the original game
That Libero at the end sucks so much, I guess if your Pokémon is faster it won’t matter as much
I feel like Ghost Type moves would get really strong after Color Change

I'd guess one way to go around Color Change would be finding two types that are Super Effective against each other. As far as I'm aware, this is only possible in Gen 1 with Bug and Poison, so an alternative is using a Psychic move so you can land a Ghost move which beats itself. The problem then becomes how you manage to consistently land Psychic from a Pokémon like Kadabra.
Dragon, and but that is impossible to get weak to without being dragon

I gotta say I prefer the style of your previous videos, I think the stories you tell with your usual editing are the best part about your previous work. That said this style of video is fine, still had good moments. And shouldn't have to be said, but of course you should do what you think is best, it's your channel after all.

Quite the interesting video, and for something like this I agree that using less editing was the correct decision so that you could get it out faster while only highlighting the more interesting moments.
Also echo what some of the others mentioned in that without having the ability to make a command to list all abilities, it's easy to lose track of new ones added.
If you don't want to have it on screen at all times, maybe add it in the description and add a timestamp of when new abilities are added?
Wouldn't be ideal for fullscreen but realistically, using a command would have been about the same anyway.

For the early grind, why not use growl so struggle does less damage?
Edit: I realize it would just make the battle longer since struggle does 1/4 dealt damage recoil in gen 3

are you sure about that?
Feedback: You might want to rephrase the beginning of the (next) video so that you mention that you're adding more abilities as the run goes on BEFORE describing the 5 starting abilities. A viewer might just go "oh, he said *ability: everything* in the thumbnail, but he actually just means only these 5 abilities, this doesn't seem too interesting/hard" and click off before you mention that those 5 are just the starting point.

I think any and every challenge should have the usual limitations of using only SET mode and no items, and probably playing with level caps (+candies). Otherwise, it was a very fun and creative challenge, thanks for the video!
