Hey you forgot to put it in the 2 or 3rd speed before you took off from the ground with your helicopter you’ll need to buy another one you had your helicopter set for indoors only
This happened to me with this rc helicopter 🚁:/ it worked fine for the first 5 flights. Then my sixth time flying it last week it took off and wouldn’t let me control it and fell into a tree.
*_Well, just throwing this out here....Is there anybody watching this vid or the video maker that can contact RC Era and let them know that this Helicopter is just dangerous...!!!!...If so, post back here with their responses and answers...._*
Honestly, I’ve watched 10+ videos about this helicopter, and had considered it, but this is the first video I’ve seen showcasing problems of it. The honesty is refreshing.
Yeah man, the same thing happened to me with one my brother gave me (red coast guard).... It did exactly what this one did.., but three times in a row, first time in auto & second & third time in Manual mode, and I tried every button, including auto land and everything but the only button that would work reliably was the "oh shit" button😂
Wow!! I got the red and white one (no missiles 😉) and so far I've only flown one battery on it. Thankfully it didn't do that! But I did find that it didn't respond well to the controls being touched during auto takeoff. If I did try to control it, for example yaw it left or right, as soon as it came out of auto takeoff, it would quickly snap itself back to the original orientation before I had full control of it. After realizing what was happening, I just let it finish its auto takeoff and then it behaved just fine when I started controlling it.
So I did have the red Coast Guard model, and it did do exactly what this one did only I was able to do it three times with mine, the first time in auto and the second and third time in manual takeoff mode, and the auto land would not work, only the emergency kill button worked all three times...🙄
Just to be honest with you I believe that you didn't take the time needed to know how to fly that model. You clearly said you didn't even like adding all the little screws. So, in my opinion. Nate you thought mmm i know how to fly this little model lets go fly. Rules out the window. Just my honest opinion Brother. :)
What a crap excuse !!! It as to ready to fly ! My rc era c138 turn itself on without turning on controller or binding it ! Almost take my hand off and my cat head !!! They don't even test this garbage in the factory??? Never had a dangerous situation like this ! I have a video off it to send to bangood to have my refund!!!
I, for one, am glad you posted the vid. It does look cool (and I’ve been looking into Helicopters recently) but I’m glad I know that this one may be a fly off.
If you get one that's not defective, it's a great little flyer!.... but if you do decide to get one, it's like playing Chinese roulette, 😂🙄 Good luck my friend and Happy New Year.🎄
Reminds me of the COX gas helicopter. Gas it up, start it, adjust the air fuel needle, let go, then chase it down wherever it went. The fun days of old.
I've been flying mine for about a month now. Never bothered with auto take off or land button. It's actually a good flying machine. My only issue with it is the battery taking 3 hours and 15 minutes to charge and only 15 to 20 minute flight time. Thank you for showing me what happens with the auto take off, at least now I know to never use that function. BTW I hot glued mine too.
I have 2 of these (a black version and a green version). The green version works great but the black one (after multiple success flights) did the same thing twice. First time went up about 20 feet but I was able to land safely by pressing the auto landing button multiple times. The second time it did exactly the same as in the video (kept on going up and up) then it lost power and crashed. Bent the main shaft and broke landing skid. Both times I calibrated the gyro and didn’t use auto takeoff so definitely a defect affecting many of these after hearing similar comments. Too bad because when it works properly it’s a fun helicopter.
I can so relate to your story after having it happen three times myself the second and third time taking off manually, and yes, the third time there were a few seconds where I had control, but they were fleeting seconds...👍🏻🎄
@@joethompson2910 It’s good to know I’m not the only one who had this issue. Hopefully Rc ERA can fix this problem because I really like the helicopter. I just got replacement parts for my crashed black one so hopefully it won’t do that again. It seems like a lot of the comments think it’s a controller issue so I’m using the second one I have.
I would like to see what the company will do, and if they replace it, how quickly they do, and what the replacement does. How much trouble it was to get it replaced would also be nice to know. Every company has one or more that slip past QC, heck even nasa has done it. So i wont trash talk them for seeing this kind of thing. The measure of the company and its products, is how they stand behind it. Really want to know how this turns out, please do an update regardless of how it does. if you get a new one, or not, and so on.
What a pity of such a good looking heli. Agreed with some others: would be interesting to see how the seller reacts to this mishap (they would want video-evidence / check!), how they handle everything, and how the copter actually flies once you get a properly working replacement. That is something you hardly ever do: revisiting something that didn't perform as it should in the video and follow up on the after-sales etc.
I got one 2 months ago and it performs perfectly. A joy to fly! Then i pursuaded my colleque to buy one too and he had exactly the same bug as you just got. He was inside his living room so has some whitening to redo now. He burned his controller as smoke came out as it hung in the curtains. He is in contact with BangGood for a replacement now. Lets see how the next one does... It seems to me that some helis have the optical flow sensor connected the wrong way around making it shoot to the moon without alt.hold kicking in 😢
It may have been the transmitter was faulty. I was having trouble with mine also. The transmitter wasn't binding to the heli so I tried another one that looked similar. If you bought the little grey military or coast guard looking heli it basically has the same transmitter minus the emergency stop button and it's black. So I tried it and bingo!!...it worked. It flies great. Although I had to use another transmitter I had no other issues.
You are going to need to forget about helicopters because it seems like you are cursed with the😁... Good video, though!... Thumbs-up...Greetings from Douglas, Arizona 🌵🦠🦠🇵🇷Merry Christmas and happy New Year 2024...
I had the same thing happened three times in a row, and I did try hitting the autoland button and in fact, I tried everything, and the only button that worked reliably was the "oh shit" button
@@ordinaryfan6990 I don't think that will solve anything because I had it happen twice just manually taking off… If you get a good one you're fine ...if you don't, it's depressing, dangerous, (and expensive). Good luck my friend and have a great Christmas & New Year!🎄
You're not the only 1 with uncontrollable helo fly away. My 1st Blade 230S (v1), in reference to transmitter response, always flew flawlessly. I enjoyed it so much that after 1 year and many flight hours later, I bought another one as a backup. The 2nd helo must have had defective receiver. On the maiden flight after routine binding, "happy dance" self calibration and joysticks testing,I successfully did a scale takeoff. All was well until 15 ft. away all transmitter inputs ceased to have any effects,zero.. Not even throttle hold, absolutely no switch, button or stick had any effect. I could only helplessly watch in shock as it slowly continued climbing and got carried by the breezes into the woods. Never found it. Contacted horizon hobby but as usual they're useless, it's always "pilot error ". Congrats horizon Hell. I lost $300 but you lost thousands in larger scale helos, boats, cars, buggies, trucks, planes, drones, high end chargers, parts & accessories.
Hello Mr. Rc Sailor. I recently purchased an MD 500 C189 helicopter. The maiden voyage was a disaster. Using the one touch takeoff feature the helicopter rose up to approximately 100' ? It rapidly flew to the right with no response on the joysticks at all ? After having to use the auto stop function it crashed to the ground with a minimum of damage luckily. I've watched the reviews with a broken heart. I'm an elderly man on SSD salary. $250 isn't a lot of money, however it is for me. I'm trying to break into the hobby I'm sure your getting a lot of comments on this particular products ? Any advice would be 6:46 productive ? Thank you !
Thank you for that. Toy grade craft are OK recruitment tools as long as they're fairly harmless, but helis will never be harmless. Flying meat grinders should have reliable vital organs. Glad you got away with that without a violent haircut or worse. Happy holiday!
If everything else was and went perfectly, I would pass because of the battery. You probably would not find any batteries that will fit except from this company and it is a very negative feature to be limited this way.
The other downside of this battery type is that you cannot charge them with a regular smart charger, have no idea if cells are balanced, how much juice was used etc. Thats even another safety issue. I would not trust the charger included as I trust my smart chargers.
What the hell was that?!?! 🤣🤣🤣 I MIGHT have been interested in it if I could bind my own radio to it. To be honest, that held up A LOT better than I thought it would from that high altitude crash. I expected to see the fuselage totally obliterated and the main rotor blades completely broken.
After about 6 flights in my living room, It happened to me🤯!! That heli stuck to my ceiling, looked like it was snowing in my living room😂😂!! I'll never fly it again with those electronics in it, just gonna put the XY-F1 tronics in it to make a full collective "FULL CONTROL" bird.
I’m listening… Here’s the situation, I just bought this copter. Same issue as here in the video. I’m returning it for a refund. However, I have until February to return it. How are you planning on doing this? What specific electronics would I need to purchase? Just a new receiver? I would like to be able to bind it to my Spectrum Dx6i. How are you planning on calibrating the gyro? I have 30 years RC experience with planes mostly but did have a 6 channel Nexus .30 years ago. Just getting back into copters now. I’d love to get this bird converted over to being able to bind it to my Dx6i but I didn’t know it was possible but you make a good point about swapping the electronics!! 👍👍👍 This copter looks amazing and I’d love to get it going if ya could tell me exactly what I need to buy and if it’s even possible to bind it to a Dx6i with a new receiver ? Idk how the gyro would work with that? My thoughts are, I’ll buy what ya think will work, try it in my copter I have before I return it. If it works, I’ll exchange the copter for a new one and do the conversion on the new bird. Let me know what your thinking!! 👍👍👍
I got mine from Ali and its the army green. Assembly went well, I tossed the tools it came with as they are terrible material and strips very easily. Best investment was a micro repair set with magnetic electric driver made assembly fast and easy. I tested all 3 speed modes. Advance power up and down to bind (beeps), auto take off and land. Manual start and take off, point the two sticks down and out to start the motor. Hover to trim and fly around. I landed by getting close to the ground and then keeping the throttle down to land and shut motor off. I re-calibrated by putting all sticks down and to the left (beeps). Manual start again and advanced throttle to take off seemed to work better so my start ups always contain a calibration before each flight. Indoors mode 1 works great but I find myself always flying on mode 3. Trim is into the wind with 1 or 2 clicks forward. only issue is you can not get it back into the box with landing skid and rocket pods on. One will have to mod the pods for quick removal and mod the box to fit with skids on. So far so good I'm having lots of scale flights with this little bird making me look like a heli pro. It saddens me to watch and hear about others having fly away issues. I hope the sellers can make it right for them.
Mine has been awesome as well. I have the army camouflage one and I’m even going to install some simple navigation lights with a small 1s battery and Velcro it underneath to give it an even more scale look flying at night.
Simple, none of the components in your helo from a defective production batch.. If you think western manufacturers take shortcuts, it's nothing compared to Chinese manufacturer culture. It's not uncommon for laborers working 10-12 hrs,6 days per week at low pay. Sleep deprivation and fear of harsh reprisals are not conducive to consistent production quality. Ever notice that even expensive new products are hit or miss? Or if they do initially work, fails prematurely?
Thats depressing to me preacher, I have one of those on order and you’re the first that I’ve heard that happen to. I feel bad for you and I hope I don’t get that unlucky. I know they sell replacement parts, any possibility it could be repaired?
Gee that's a bit of bad luck there Nate I have this heli but never used the auto take off and after watching this I don't think il venture there I personally don't like auto take off with anything purely for that reason I like to be in control all the time but I have had issues with it could always control it but a few time it would not stop and had to use the emergency stop I also had to trim the heli as it would violently pull to the left when you take your hand of the stick another thing I found is it doesn't like wind or even a light breeze if your not careful it will get away on you mine flys ok now the only thing I'm disappointed on I did not get the little compact antenna so I had to make one 😂 it is a good heli I think you just got a Friday afternoon special just around quitting time where all care gos out the window cause it's time to go home then come Monday morning "yeah this is right to go" I've had my fair share of those . Again sorry you had a fail on that heli it's just one of those things cheers🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁🚁
Yeah that description pretty well covered it I spend extra to get a three batteries I remained optimistic for a while that I can buy at least buy a BNF version another hundred and twenty dollars minimum I might as well spend the difference and get a complete DJI which is only 300 now the whole experience was just heartbreaking I truly expected more from RC era
I have two, probably my all time favorite RC Heli. Never had any such problem as you did. Be sure to calibrate first on level ground. Can also be bound to Multi-Protocol transmitters like T16S Radiomaster with EDGE TX. There is channel named Andrej Sturm that has some great info.
it was totally unexpected and trying to see that tiny chopper on phone screen out in the sun. I don't think anyone could have gotten a good recording of it
I got 10 good flights out of mine and really enjoyed it, then mine did the same runaway climb thing. I hit the Land button, that brought it down softly, then I had to do Emergency Stop to get the blades to stop spinning. Reset the gyros, had a good flight but I could tell something was off. Next flight a few days later with one push of the Takeoff button it goes full throttle and full forward stick until it tumbles on the ground and destroys itself. So that's 10 flights for $158 dollars. Was it worth $15.80 per flight? Don't think so, not buying ERA ever again.
I commented on here previously but anyways I crashed mine,my fault, then ordered parts and fixed it myself which was easier than I thought it would be,it now flies again etc, there easy to fix and get parts for.
Hey Nate, if you want some practice with small hardware, try putting together an Orlandoo Hunter vehicle! I love them! (My therapist says I'm making progress)!
I (kinda) feel like a portion of the Blame belongs to me. (I commented that Nate had "one of the best camera operators" out there; so what ELSE could he do but Offer her a wee Challenge, just as quickly as he could!)
I had a similar issue, it took off but controls didn't listen, no way to get it to come down, did a slow climb and drifted to side with no way to counteract. I was fighting the cpu, can only land with emerg stop. Happened 1 out of 5 or so flights.Broken, returned to Amazon.
Dude!!! I sheet you not… My brother got me the red Coast Guard version of that exact helicopter and the first day I took it out it did the exact same freaking thing and the only control that would work was the "oh sheet" button that dropped it out of the sky....I did it three times in a row 🙄 and I decided to quit after that... it was one of the most depressing things that had happened to me in a two week period. I left out a lot of the details but yup.., thats what happened in a nutshell! Im surprised you had the same problem ...because I was thinking maybe I had cell tower interference, but I was up in the mountains here so it's interesting that you had the same "EXACT" problem that I had....😕😕 So apparently there is a problem with a batch of those helicopters but you're the first person that I've heard of that had the same problem I had. But I just picked up a DJI Mini 4 Pro which hopefully will make me happier, 😂..... Dang...sorry my friend.., I have watched your channel several times and I feel like your my brother from another now!! You 2 have a Merry Christmas!!⛄️👊🏻❤️
I bought the same model for 3 weeks. It flew normal and easily control. But in yesterday's flight, it performed exactly your situation as a rocket far up to the sky and not under control. It almost flew away and lost. I quickly ran to follow it and tried to control it by touching the landing button and lastly it descended and under my control. I think it might influence by cold weather. After warming up, it performed normal.
Holy moly! I'm glad I read your comment. I was prepared to buy a. B. N. F. Version as I still have a couple of batteries and controller from MY disastrous flight. Now. I feel, until they (RC ERA) realize there IS a problem and it/others are corrected , the best anyone can expect out of this thing currently it seems , is maybe a couple of flights and retire it as a ''shelf queen''.
What you experienced is Spot On...I bought the red and white version Fall 2023. During the winter, i fly at an indoor dome. Flew it a couple of dozen times, and it flew great. Very steady and nimble movement, and looks very scale. I also had the chance to fly it outdoors late Fall 2023, and while it didn't zoom away like yours did, I tried seeing how high it would go. When it got about 150' up, I then tried to bring it down, and it took FOREVER, to the point that if there was any kind of wind, I may have lost it in the surrounding trees. Happened a couple of times, and I realized I could not let it get that high for fear of losing it. I noted this in my online review on the Banggood site, where I bought it from, and they actually responded with an apology and indication that they would look into the matter, but no offer to repair/replace it and no further contact since then. In Spring, 2024 I flew it again at the dome, and it suddenly started pulsing and would not get enough speed to even take off, as if there was an issue with the speed control. Did online research and found nothing on the problems I experienced, but I did find an online RC message board where several people posted about the same issue you had, where it just jumped up and kept going until they hit the "kill" button and it came crashing down. Appparently, this is a not-uncommon issue. I tried contacting RC Era directly by e-mail but they would not respond - apparently, everything from RC Era is sold "as-is" with no support whatsoever. I swore off RC Era after that. However, BG just had a sale that was too good to pass up on the RC Era Bell 206 helicopter that i just bought. I figured i will give them one more chance. Just received it and have not flown it yet. If that one experiences glitches like this MD500, I will forever swear off ANYTHING from RC Era.
These companies have to stop making things automated!! It’s REMOTE CONTROL!! We want to control it!! Next they are going to come out with AUTO EVERYTHING!! We will get a Remote control with no joy sticks only buttons!!
I bought this heli becauseI saw it on another RUclipsrs channel. This heli fly's amazing, you probably had it on the "fast" setting. There are 3 speed settings. Screws were easy to install with a little patience. I would recommend your viewers purchase it after they watch Brian Phillips do a demo and review on his channel. Don't get me wrong, I like your channel, but you didn't give that heli a chance to be flown correctly for your audience.
No, they had some problems because it happened to me as well three times in a row and I'll leave out the details because I've left several comments in the comment section here about it. I will tell you that it's frustrating to have a bunch of people think you're an idiot when you're not ...
First, all the negative comments about your preparation and skills are uncalled for. The people clearly don’t watch or understand what you are all about and what you do for the RC community. Second, I just purchased the black version of this helicopter and it did the same thing. However, I got no response from the emergency stop button. Nor did the auto land button do anything. After it got about 200 feet in the air and 300 feet away from me, the controls started responding and I was able to bring it down and back to me. The next flight I took off manually instead of auto takeoff and it did the exact same thing. Again, I was able to bring it back to me. For the record, I did calibrate the gyro as instructed in the manual before both flights. Before this video I have only found one other video posted from another country showing the exact same issue. I have found a couple of documented places on the internet where replacing the radio fixed the problem, so I have ordered a replacement radio and we woo see if it works. At least one other comment in here mentioned radio replacement worked as well so I’m hopeful. All that said, I love the way you guys approach the hobby, your humility and willingness to show the good and bad as Eric as your own mistakes from time to time. This one was definitely NOT your fault. I just think RC has maybe had a bad batch of radios ship out.
Obviously you didn’t read ALL of the comments. Most were and always are positive, but a couple of people were mean and rude. Nate and Abby don’t deserve that.
@flyinbryanj593 It's shocking that you experienced this uncontrolled start twice! How did you finally manage to get the control back? It must have been shocking to see your heli 200 feet high 300 feet away from you! Good that you never gave up the hope to get the control back!
I just kept pulling the throttle stick all the way down and it eventually started to descend. The only way I had orientation at that point was the bright light on the front. Without that I never would have been able to bring it back. It was just a small dot in the sky at its furthest point.
@@flyinbryanj593 You reacted very well and were lucky that the heli reacted in the end! I hope that you get this problem solved an can fly without worries and problems!
why didnt you hit the land switch?why you hit th stop switch?you didnt even try that.I heard the frist batch contorl issue.I have two c189 NO contorl problem.I must of got two out of good batch.
Well people, the fly away finally happened to me this weekend. only thing I was able to do was hit the stop button. I walked away with broken blades a tail boom and stripped main gears. The landing skids and rocket pods took a beating as you can see the impact stress marks but managed to stay intact. I did the usual upon start up bind, calibrate and engine start. I throttled up and boom she shot straight up no controls. I did a few ground tests with the stripped gears and I held onto the heli with 1 hand while I got the rotors to spool up and hit the throttle and it went full throttle on me while holding it in my hand. Hitting the stop button was all that could be done to stop it. I did this a few more times and out of 10 attempts I was able to get 1 good one being able to control and reduce throttle. There was 1 other time during the testing it went full throttle on it's own after spool up it didn't give me time to hold onto the tail boom and I immediately hit stop a few feet in the air. I think I got around 10 consecutive great flights with this before this happened. I really thought I lucked out and got a good one. Such a shame I was really enjoying flying this but I did have a weird feeling I even made sure to slap on a return address label on it just in case and wallah now I've become one of the fly away members.
hitting auto takeoff from zero revs without letting the hub get to operating speed first caused this imo.Just a hunch.Turning off the controller(yep scary) should make it auto land apparently(safe mode) rather than the emergency stop button.
Auto take off should mean it'll get bout a meter and a half and hover there, not take off like a rocket and keep going lol 👀, I had my eye on this one too but I think now it'll get a skip after seeing this👎, if it happened to you it could happen to me too right ?, thanks for sharing bro ✌
f you don't know already through the numerous comments on this channel, there are others as well, there ARE Potential problems with some models. and I'm a victim also... a simple string tether could save some heartache. BUT If you decided to get one and risk it, (personally, I suggest wait a few months) try to buy it directly from the factory as the issues may have been discovered and corrected by then. Plus the potentiality of. them standing. behind whatever problem you may have , versus. a second or third party seller to save a few bucks. Good luck. Reply
@@I.B.Duressed yes I agree with waiting a bit 👍, since many have probably already been sold it means most of them are OK but there are those with this problem, that tells me that it all comes down to poor quality control and are not tested as they all should be, and that fact alone makes me unsure about this brand, it is a realy cool looking heli and a perfect copy of a real 500 D, and I see there are different colors too and that's verry cool, I will get one but as you said, later rather 👍, cheers bro ✌
I think you are supposed to set the GPS while it's on the ground pull both sticks to the bottom left corner, and you should get the taillight to blink confirming it is set.
No GPS but you can calibrate the Gyro which I did three times with mine and all three times It still flew up like a rocket. everyone keeps saying that it was probably the auto takeoff button but it still did it taking off manually two times for me..
Hmm. You don't have much luck with helicopters. The 450 size Huey and now this one😢 Manufacturer quality control is definitely not up to scratch. I have one that wouldn't spin up so I opened up the flight controller and found the small board was touching the lower controller board. Once fixed it flies very good. Hope you have better luck with rc helicopters in the future.
Their website doesn't work & my distributor doesn't want to reveal there source for me to try to resolve the problem I had so I guess mine is a total loss
@@I.B.Duressed I’ve read many comments of others having issues with getting the problem resolved. That’s very frustrating. I’ve also read that it might be a controller issue. I have some smaller Rc ERA helicopters that have no issues. Too bad that this one is having problems because when it works it’s a nice helicopter.
Try and get your hands on another one of these, obviously you had a defective one. I would like to see a review from you with one that's working correctly. I've seen several video reviews from other people, and it flew just fine.
I am sorry to hear about your helicopter crash, my c189 is also out of control. my c189 also keep ascending even if i put the throttle down, then it hit the fan on the ceiling and crashed. Anyway, this product has a lot of problem😅
Thanks for the candid videos. I enjoy seeing "the truth" as most of the audience fly's and experiences the same kind of quirks. I feel bad every time I am at the field and things go bad. I KNOW poop will happen as the old adage says "if you fly them, you will need to rebuild them..." . We all know that, but it is still a gut punch of second guessing when the day ends with damage to the bird...
That spy drone was RC ERA too. This is a shame - but as you said, it MIGHT be just a coincidence. It's a cool looking helicopter... Looks like one you see in the A-TEAM show.
Boy are you having problems with helicopters. What happened to the last one that went nut a few feet off of the ground and you both went running backwards. Did you figure out what happened ?

This happened to me with this rc helicopter 🚁:/ it worked fine for the first 5 flights. Then my sixth time flying it last week it took off and wouldn’t let me control it and fell into a tree.
I had the same problem but only after the 5th flight at a different Sea level. Maybe you have to do the calibration again first!?
That copter needed a self destructive button so blows up if gets squirly
You didn't calibrate the controls first, absolutely stupid
Maybe assembled by a Sinatra fan; "Fly me to the moon"
*_Well, just throwing this out here....Is there anybody watching this vid or the video maker that can contact RC Era and let them know that this Helicopter is just dangerous...!!!!...If so, post back here with their responses and answers...._*
Did you read the instructions before taking off?
Instructions? We don't need no stinking instructions
Man you guys have had the worst luck with scale heli's this year first the FW450 Huey now the rc era MD 500
So basically it's a prop driven rocket ship? Lol
I saw another demo of this helicopter by an Italian guy and it flew very well, looked great
I thought it was going to explode like a firework! that thing went up so fast!
😂... it certainly got my heart pounding quick when it happened to me...🤪
That was a ROCKET and I was going to wave bye, bye!! BUMMER it was a BUMMER!! Saylors you honestly ROCK!! May the New Year be Merry and Bright!! 👍💟😎
Pay for an RC helicopter, get an Estes rocket that just shoots up into the sky! 😂😂😂
Mine def didn't do this, you've been having bad luck lately! Happy Christmas 🎄
Agreed...
Nope, RUclips is full with this problem.
If you get one that's not defective, it's a great little flyer!.... but if you do decide to get one, it's like playing Chinese roulette, 😂🙄
Good luck my friend and Happy New Year.🎄
Appreciate the honest and why I watch your video's. You did good getting it back to the ground without hitting anything which was a win!!
Same exact thing happened to me, but the second & third time I tried manually taking it off, it did the same freaking thing!
Want to sell the wrecked one?... I'd like to have something to show for my experience as well :^D
I want to see what happens also. But at this time with Holidays I would expect a delay all around
Welcome to China I am waiting for the same Type .Lets see wat happening .Greetings from Germany
It seems to me that some helis have the optical flow sensor connected the wrong way around making it shoot to the moon without alt.hold kicking in 😢
I have this heli you should try Calibrating it first
Calibrating first? Never heard of it
Yeah, it's in the manual. Hold both sticks down and left, Hold both sticks down and out will start. @@I.B.Duressed
now WHY didn't ANYONE think of that !?! ...amazing :^l
@@I.B.Duressed it's what i been doing and it's been flying good and stable
It may have been the transmitter was faulty. I was having trouble with mine also. The transmitter wasn't binding to the heli so I tried another one that looked similar. If you bought the little grey military or coast guard looking heli it basically has the same transmitter minus the emergency stop button and it's black. So I tried it and bingo!!...it worked. It flies great. Although I had to use another transmitter I had no other issues.
Ouch!! I think I will try the manual takeoff mode for my first flight with this! I'm glad I saw this. Thanks for posting the video!! 🙂
You are going to need to forget about helicopters because it seems like you are cursed with the😁... Good video, though!... Thumbs-up...Greetings from Douglas, Arizona 🌵🦠🦠🇵🇷Merry Christmas and happy New Year 2024...
You should’ve tried pressing the landing button first
I had the same thing happened three times in a row, and I did try hitting the autoland button and in fact, I tried everything, and the only button that worked reliably was the "oh shit" button
Good to know. I’ve had good luck with this helicopter but I’ll deactivate the take off button just in case
@@ordinaryfan6990 I don't think that will solve anything because I had it happen twice just manually taking off… If you get a good one you're fine ...if you don't, it's depressing, dangerous, (and expensive).
Good luck my friend and have a great Christmas & New Year!🎄
Thank you, like wise!
We prefer the ugly truth over a beautiful lie. Thanks for the video as always. Merry Christmas.
What about reading instructions first?🙄
.... And what makes you think anyone didn't?....'Cause l sure did .... But please inspire us all and tell us how your personal flight went.
Lol I love these fail vids.... We all have been there 🤷🏼♂️🤣
Whew! Makes me feel better knowing I’m not the only one with this stuff happening! 👍💯😅⚓️
w0w ...ain't THAT th' truth ! ....still hurts like the First time though
I MIGHT have been interested in it if I could bind my own radio to it. To be honest, that held up A LOT better than I thought it would from that high altitude crash. I expected to see the fuselage totally obliterated and the main rotor blades completely broken.
Merry Christmas Nate, Abby and little Saylors.
AirHammer out!!
Did you actually read the manual or just send it?
😂
Pretty but overpriced hazard. Hard pass
Thank you for showing this
After about 6 flights in my living room, It happened to me🤯!! That heli stuck to my ceiling, looked like it was snowing in my living room😂😂!! I'll never fly it again with those electronics in it, just gonna put the XY-F1 tronics in it to make a full collective "FULL CONTROL" bird.
Man I bet that was funny after. 😂😂
You get a free drywall sander with every purchase of this heli
I’m listening…
Here’s the situation, I just bought this copter.
This copter looks amazing and I’d love to get it going if ya could tell me exactly what I need to buy and if it’s even possible to bind it to a Dx6i with a new receiver ? Idk how the gyro would work with that?
My thoughts are, I’ll buy what ya think will work, try it in my copter I have before I return it. If it works, I’ll exchange the copter for a new one and do the conversion on the new bird.
Let me know what your thinking!! 👍👍👍
that was fast money gon in 2 seconds ashame nice looking chopper abby you did the best you could don't sweat it be safe
A lot are going to fly back to the North Pole this Christmas 😂 Merry Christmas!
Lol. Mine might be halfway there by now.
There will be pics of elves posing with them same way people posed with stolen gnomes years ago😅
Wow! Don't hit auto takeoff in the house 😳. Blessed Christmas to you and family! 🙂
I have one of these it's great I wonder what happened
I have flown mine several times and not one glitch ? what am I doing right ?
sooo lol ... good for you ...hope you get a THOUSAND MORE !!!
The guy didn't calibrate the controls,up and down, then both down and to the left, beep again,he's a idiot lol
I had the expensive Coast Guard SH-60, and it did the exact same thing. $500 down the toilet. This has to be a semi common problem with RC helicopters
Runaway Helicopter. I know the feeling absolutely love you and Abby keep up the amazing work Sincerely 💗 Richard
Thanks for all you do. Merry Christmas and best wishes to you.
Well, it was a "take off" (i.e. get otta here) button.
Very cool video
I have two, probably my all time favorite RC Heli. Never had any such problem as you did. Be sure to calibrate first on level ground.
Can also be bound to Multi-Protocol transmitters like T16S Radiomaster with EDGE TX. There is channel named Andrej Sturm that has some great info.
Nate your saving people from spending unnecessary money for unworthy products kudos man HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY 🙏🏼
It's a sad day seeing a beautiful little MD500E taking the full on gravity challenge. Definitely one of my favorite helicopters of all time.
Really? This one? This thing is P.O.S. they had so many others on the channel that were less money, and definitely better... 🤔
it was totally unexpected and trying to see that tiny chopper on phone screen out in the sun. I don't think anyone could have gotten a good recording of it
omg lol that was nuts
Sad that this happened but have learned we weren’t the only ones!! Happy flying my friend. 👍😎💯⚓️
@@TheRcSaylors will u try another one ?
I got 10 good flights out of mine and really enjoyed it, then mine did the same runaway climb thing. I hit the Land button, that brought it down softly, then I had to do Emergency Stop to get the blades to stop spinning. Reset the gyros, had a good flight but I could tell something was off. Next flight a few days later with one push of the Takeoff button it goes full throttle and full forward stick until it tumbles on the ground and destroys itself. So that's 10 flights for $158 dollars. Was it worth $15.80 per flight? Don't think so, not buying ERA ever again.
I think when mine shows up I'll hang on to it first time out just in case!
Take off to Mars Merry Christmas you guys
Fantastic flight! (But just 1) Thanks for showing us how it really happens to all of us some of the time!
Merry Christmas guys
I have recently received mine and all ok. This Heli is so beautiful. 10 April 2024
Glad to hear that! Happy Flying! 👍💯😎⚓️
Merry Christmas RC Saylors been here since the beginning.
Did you calibrate it 👀👀
I (kinda) feel like a portion of the Blame belongs to me. (I commented that Nate had "one of the best camera operators" out there; so what ELSE could he do but Offer her a wee Challenge, just as quickly as he could!)
Yeah, they need to check that. I agree that it looks neat, but that experience is a bummer.
Im surprised you had the same problem ...because I was thinking maybe I had cell tower interference, but I was up in the mountains here so it's interesting that you had the same "EXACT" problem that I had....😕😕
So apparently there is a problem with a batch of those helicopters but you're the first person that I've heard of that had the same problem I had.
But I just picked up a DJI Mini 4 Pro which hopefully will make me happier, 😂.....
Dang...sorry my friend.., I have watched your channel several times and I feel like your my brother from another now!!
You 2 have a Merry Christmas!!⛄️👊🏻❤️
The armament looks crooked. You are not doing justice to this fantastic model.
@@I.B.Duressed I am pretty sure they do not sell BNF version. If so let me know please.
Sad it didn’t work very well, pretty cool little copter!
These companies have to stop making things automated!! It’s REMOTE CONTROL!! We want to control it!! Next they are going to come out with AUTO EVERYTHING!! We will get a Remote control with no joy sticks only buttons!!
like them childrens toys of the 70s and 80s which consisted of a wired controller with two buttons for forward and reverse!
Merry Christmas!
Where do you see negative comments?? Most of the people here supported Nate.
Great stuff merry Christmas to you and your family.🎉💯👍
why didnt you hit the land switch?why you hit th stop switch?you didnt even try that.I heard the frist batch contorl issue.I have two c189 NO contorl problem.I must of got two out of good batch.
There went that $170.00 bucks. I'll pass.
This thing is an overpriced model rocket basically! 😂😂😂
Good choice, I made the mistake of getting it, and it’s a total piece of crap.
Absolute junk. They want to hate on hobby king and then promote crap like this😢
These can be bought all day long on aliexpress for $130. Best RC money I ever spent. I bought two and they are fine.
...wish l had... my experience was simply heartbreaking
Good luck.

They didn't mention a GPS. I have one. There's no GPS.
No GPS but you can calibrate the Gyro which I did three times with mine and all three times It still flew up like a rocket. everyone keeps saying that it was probably the auto takeoff button but it still did it taking off manually two times for me..
Honestly, welcome to the world of helicopters. You're lucky it was a cheap one!
It’s good, in a way, you got this fly away problem on video since it has happened to a lot of these. Now maybe ERA Rc will fix the issue.
Wow, an actual bad review. You must not "advertise" for them.😂
Try and get your hands on another one of these, obviously you had a defective one. I would like to see a review from you with one that's working correctly. I've seen several video reviews from other people, and it flew just fine.
I think he is super clueless about heli's among other things.
Bummer thanks for the video and merry xmas to you and Abby
Yeah, was really looking forward to flying this helicopter. Merry Christmas!! 🎄✝️❤️💯⚓️
The Key is , don't fly without treating it like it might be your last. from every flight. .... Especially the maiden.
That spy drone was RC ERA too. This is a shame - but as you said, it MIGHT be just a coincidence. It's a cool looking helicopter... Looks like one you see in the A-TEAM show.
I had the same exact thing happen to the red coast guard model that my brother gave me for my birthday..
I think you hit the TO THE MOON button by mistake. Merry Christmas. 🎅
Boy are you having problems with helicopters. What happened to the last one that went nut a few feet off of the ground and you both went running backwards. Did you figure out what happened ?
Nah he even tried to fly it again 😂 after that
