- Haystack Rock on Cannon Beach is an icon of the Oregon Coast. I couldn't pass up the chance to fly it with the DJI Air 3. It was a little cloudy, but we made the best of it. I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for showing us Haystack Rock and Cannon Beach, the day I was there it was too windy to fly. You got some awesome footage, sorry about it being overcast that day. but it also overcast when I was there. I was hoping you were going to used the 3X tele lens. Great video, and thanks for sharing. And BTW, I think I saw some swimming at one point when you filming the smaller rocks, maybe a whale?

You shouldn’t be worried about maximum height in this instance because of the 400 rule when filming towers/tall rocks/structures 👍🏽
just to note, if recreational, its purely based off of AGL, any rocks cliffs and natural structures 400 rule applies. But to utilize the 400 AGL over a man made structure, you would need a part 107, as the 400x400 rule is for part 107 pilots.
@@jw-adventure6002 I never speak from a recreational perspective because im a part 107 pilot. Also, a recreational pilot cannot do what idaho quadcopter did in his video(flying near people)

I got threatened with citation and possible arrest if I flew my mini anywhere near Haystack Rock. Fish and Wildlife claimed its a protected habitat for the birds.
Did you get some chowder at Mo's?
Oh yes, of course fish and chips with chowder at Mo's. 🙂 The website says overflying is okay as long as you stay away from the wildlife.
@@IdahoQuadcopter Probably a good idea to fly from as far away as you did though. The F&W wardens down by the rock were all over me as soon as I started to set up. So many great places to fly on the Oregon coast. State parks are a no-no, but as long as you are on the beach, you are good to go.

you mentioned max height, though once you were over the rock, your AGL would be much lower than the 400 AGL max. since your legal altitude follows AGL. Great video. Part 107 drone pilot from Washington, I have a few videos on my channel if you want to check them out.

Is there a big difference between the camera on the Air 3 and the mini 4 and the mini 3? Does the 3x camera work well?
That is subjective I'm sure, but yes the 3X is really great!
