You don’t make bold medical claims without vast resources to immunise yourself from litigation.
Consider that people like you will take any shred of a hint of conspiracy and run with it. Potentially, for instance, not getting a vaccine that has objective, measurable effects on the entire population.
Next, consider that this man may have a very clear and healthy respect for how powerful his voice and opinion are. Perhaps he is aware of how much damage this could cause if 400k rogan listeners choose not to vaccinate themselves.

Don't think he would even talk about it if it wasn't that great
Great question. I was wondering the same.
Skeptical of the fact that he states he was kept from the data until the end.
The response resulting from the synthetic, inflammation, is the general effect caused by almost all illness. It’s likely much more practical to test inflammation this way than by waiting patiently for someone to contract an illness and then measure the inflammation markers. You can then extrapolate these results to general illness and maybe even develop a conclusion as to how effective the mushroom is in treating symptoms of illness.
@@daciandraco788just because it aids immune response does not necessarily mean it is more effective than a vaccine. Could be, but how can he say. Would probably depend on the illness

37:22 for me, the episode starts here. The minutes before that Paul was trying to instill fear of pandemics/mRNA complications for 40 minutes straight, while talking about his new product.
Yeah this was a terrible start, nearly tuned out if it wasn’t for your comment.
The reason is because its a sensitive topic with very deep support on both ends. Commenting on it from either direction will trigger both his audience and the scientific community, and reduce his credibility on anything else. Vaccines aren't his field of study so he has no reason to comment on it.

Paul definitely told a few of his stories on previous JRE episodes. I almost thought I was watching a old episode for a second
Yeah he repeated the story from his previous visit JRE about getting high with his mate who was salivating and struggling with the car etc. I was expecting Joe to say we’d already heard this one but maybe he forgot too? Smokes a lot of weed after all 😂
There's a lot of new listeners since his last appearance. Not that it was calculated, but alot of people haven't heard all his stories
I loved Stammets until I found out his mushroom brand sells absolutely bunk products. Among the worst on the matket. It is essentially just powdered substrate. Which means very little to no actual mushroom or active compounds. Not even a good source if mycelial compounds for particular mushrooms, like lions mane. (For that, you need liquid culture.) It is disgraceful and harmful. Please go elsewhere if you want to try medicinal mushrooms and reap their benefit. Dont spend your money on grain/biomass.
I did however meet him at a Shroomery gathering over a decade ago, and he was very pleasant and friendly. We all had a good time. It's just unfortunate he's a scammer. I lost a lot of the respect I once had for him.
You don’t even know the 1/2 of it.
I've found that nearly all (specifically supplements that are mixtures) provide negligible amounts of supplementation and if I remember correctly when I looked at his mushrooms supplements I came to the same conclusion when I was looking at the ingredients list.
If he's the worst mushrooms supplements company who would be the best and what makes them different exactly?
The thing about calling him a scammer specifically is that he may not be directly operating/overseeing the company in the way you imagine it sounds like he's working on a ton of other things and the supplement company may be more attached to his name at this point
Yeah watching this knowing his products are bs makes me suspicious of these claims and also how he seems to dodge all questions relating to the actual mechanisms of benefit and also it seems strange to me that he is hesitant to admit to the immune benefits of medicinal mushrooms on their own without the vaccines. Almost like he’s trying to get some sort of deal with vaccine providers. Idk. He just comes off as untrustworthy these days. The folks from mushroom revival would be a far more educational bunch to have on the pod. This just reads as a big ad for myceliated brown rice.
I will not be consuming anymore Host Defense! Any suggestions or should I just go back to fresh cap?
I absolutely love that Paul Stamets is back on the show! I've been following his work for 20 years. It's absurd that more people haven't clued in to the monumental importance of his work, and mushrooms in general.
Probably because this episode serves as perfect proof for what happens when you sell out to the government. You may spend 30 uninterrupted minutes failing to convince people to inject themselves with federal freak juice, because you've argued a strawman the entire time and nobody is scared of side effects from ACTUAL vaccinations. He's sounding and acting more like a politician, it's gross.
There’s nothing that this guy can tell me about his mushrooms that gives me even the slightest inclination to ever trust big pharma or the fed. That ship sailed long ago.

Paul should include the visually impaired into one of his studies. Microdosing has an affect on the visual cortex of the blind, as I know from microdosing myself. I'm gonna leave this here. I have been a absolute mushroomycology nerd since the first Rogan, Paul podcast. For some reason, since the first 10 minutes of this podcast, I'm starting to feel a little differently about Mr. Stammett's. I'm wondering if he has been compromised. Too much talk about vaccines and virus outbreaks.
I think it’s likely he has just been one of many scientists who got their research enabled due it being potentially applicable to vaccines and viruses. He wouldn’t have done this exact study if there was no covid, but it sounds like covid is the reason he was allowed to do a study of this scale at all. As a result, he can only talk about his results in that context.
He’s obviously interested in increasing natural immunity, but at the same time, aiding with vaccine side effects is a good thing too. Paul is living out his dream and doing a good thing so I imagine he’s careful not to say anything that could damage that.
