Brings back memories. Had the later RD350. Light weight and very quick. Had to be careful with the throttle in the lower gears to keep the front wheel on the road.

Like a Rocket launch when it hits 6 grand on the tacho . . . Well done Adler for the basic design . . . Well done Triumph for the styling . . Well done Yamaha for bringing it all together . . .

My favourite Yamaha colour scheme, purple and white, stunning, only for me having a 1973 Suzuki GT250K in candy apple 🍏 green, the first GTModel colour scheme, the candy apple red came out in July 1973 , my mate bought one and we had a blast together

If I remember it correctly the 3rd position was parking lights so you could leave on the road and it would have its lights on but no key in. I could be wrong

Think these were R5 in the States, YR5 here, same as the YDS7 250 was known in other markets as plain DS7. I had the 250 and a mate had the 350. They were a bloody revelation in performance - I hadn't passed my test back then and (in the 250 learner limit days) and you couldn't get much faster for a couple of hundred quid secondhand....
