  • It had to be done, a lovely wild camp at Shining Tor with a glorious sunset and sunrise. Location for the car park was Pym's chair Peak District. This was the first wild camp is a very long time.

I envy you. I am 65 & done what you are doing now back in the 80s.
Went with the mates, we took an HF radio into the mountains of Scotland.
We either camped in the tent or rented a caravan.
Then we went trout fishing during the day. Then at night we made a meal out of our catch whilst working the band's over a few cans.
Perhaps too old to do it all again.

Cheers Carl for another great video, I need to get out and do some portable activity myself. I love the mix of camping and radio in your video's, not always about making hundreds of contacts :)

Started my portable radio interest going up to Pyms Chair in the early 80’s with CB stuff. Old Triumph Spitfire with the roof down ! I still occasionally divert back there when going from Cheshire to Derbyshire. 73

Hi Carl.. Just looked up Pym Chair. Had no idea Pym Chair IS the car park... Looks very Beautiful and picturesque. A great place indeed to sit back and watch a Sunrise or a Sunset... Your little tent there looks like one of the Great Pyramids of Egypt with the twilight closing in all around...,
How far do you usually travel on your adventures??? In other words, the average time and distance you spend getting to these great looking campsites.
I try to keep my travels to around 100 miles or so, which take me about 2 to 3 hours on the road. My big problem is trying to take everything but the kitchen sink. I have to learn to travel much lighter. 61 years old tomorrow.. And hiking through the woods with a Marine sized pack is getting harder to do...,

I travel usually within 3 hours of getting back including packing up time, as my kids get older I'm out a little longer but I run a business that needs to monitor software 24 hours a day so I like to be near 4G in case my developers need me.

You have amazingly beautiful footage of England. Please do not get me wrong but your country has been England since the beginning. No one is there except for visitors. Where is everybody??? What an adventure in geography!!!! KD2WBK
