    Do you know how to do it on the i3?

  • @NeverFollows
    @NeverFollows 5 лет назад +1

    The device to indicate how many miles you can cover before needing a recharge is known by drivers as a GOM.
    An acronym for Guess-O-Meter.

    Is this possible on E-golf?

    I googled a bit how to do this on the i3 and it looks like there are two ways. One is to disconnect and reconnect the 12v battery, the other is vehicle settings - lights - right click - full reset option. Both will reset EVERYTHING, though

    Is this possible on Ioniq too?

    Hi Bjorn - Great Video and very helpful ... I used this 'trick' a lot - it is actually much more than 'magic' miles - as the i-pace can end up limiting full range charges to 200 miles (or less) - this then opens up a pandora's box on longer journeys - problems with available range and destination input / sat nav effectiveness etc - All that was easily overcome with the default battery reset .... However the latest JLR software downloads seem to have prevented this - i.e. There is no battery symbol on the display after a soft-start of the car - So the default battery reset can no longer be achieved - Does anyone know if this still can be done? I'm sure i-pace owners will be very grateful to learn how to reset the battery for longer journeys once again ...

    Bjorn, does the I-Pace have an OBD-II port? Just curious if European and/or US regulations have even implemented a BEV specific standard that can reasonably be enforced. It seems Tesla has been successful in avoiding the adoption of any standard regarding diagnostics. I would hope a connection is provided with the intention to incorporate some future standard or in its absence, the ability to access basic data on the EV CAN. My guess is that cyber-related security concerns likely play a prominent role in that discussion, especially considering the industry's move to seek more automated driving technologies. I think this would be an interesting topic to live sream btw...

      OBD-II port is mandatory, Tesla has one but it can't be used for diagnostics - just spits out some 0s for whatever emission values need to be read.

    Iv just recently got a 2nd hand i pace, and on a fully charge it said 237 miles.I tried resetting the GOM with the video instructions but nothing has happened? Do I have to have the car on charge when I do this like in the video?

    is the autopilot free on IPace?

      You mean free as in standard equipment ?!
      No (at least not here, Norway/Sweden). It's only standard in the most expensive version of I-Pace, the HSE.
      We got 3 versions, S SE and HSE. ( For a limited time there's also a even more expensive "First Edition",
      which is a HSE with some extras)

    Does it still work with the actual software 19A? Can not make it happen at my jag... Anybody knows?

    One good reason to reset is that it serves as an easier battery health indicator.

    Is there a way to reverse this?

    So the I Pace calculates the approximate range with your Driving Habit. How awesome is that?!?

    • @stefanwagener

      That's what every car manufacturer does for the past two decades (including combustion cars)

    • @stefanwagener
      @stefanwagener 5 лет назад +1

      Tesla also has it, you can select 10, 25, and 50km. But you will not see it together with the battery symbol, instead in the energy graph

    • @maximemineault8117
      @maximemineault8117 5 лет назад +1

      Stefan Wagener exactly. Tesla uses a constant to show the approximative available range. Other cars like the Ipace and the bolt, all the range is based on a guess related to your driving habit. So it is not the same. Tesla is an option on the screen for the max past 50 km, other is the entire range

    • @stefanwagener
      @stefanwagener 5 лет назад +1

      Don't know for the Bolt but typcially other manufacturers just take the recent driving styles, sometimes 30km, sometimes the last 7 minutes or things like that. I don't know the time span of the Jaguar or Bolt. With "entire range" you are suggesting that Bolt uses consumption since last charging for estimating the remaining range? Most OEMs have chosen a rather short time span/distance to make the remaining range estimation. The consequence is that the GOM shows your city driving first, then later when you hit the highway the GOM shows the range of that, then you hit traffic congestion and you see the range of that. But actually you need the average of all that together because that is the real range you have after such a trip of e.g. 300km. So the question is always of how long the time span should be. If you have a consistent driving style than a lifetime average would be nice. If you change your driving style or go on different kind of trips than a shorter time span would be better. At the end the question is what is the best time span to be considered. For every driver that will be a different answer, so generally speaking, the shown GOM is always wrong. So over time you know better yourself if you can make more or less than the shown range ... whatever the base of the GOM calculation is. But I do not understand why you are complaining that this estimation in a Tesla is shown somewhere else ... at least it is there and you can use it if you want to rely on that value.
