I uploaded a new video for replacing this part. If this part does float around (as in the video above) the part is actually broken. New video here for part replacement: ruclips.net/video/TsQxYsvvC9w/видео.html&t
Ya, that vid did the trick. Mine wasn't broken, but it seemed to somehow not be set with the spring properly. Thanks for saving me $$ and this simple fix.
They sure could have used just a bit sturdier component here - just a bit tougher plastic or a larger tab which would break less often (or not break for a longer time). It seems like someone ought to be able to build a 3D replacement with enhanced strength that still works, but I suppose you'd need some 3D scanning to capture the detail of the part because it is a complex shape. Anyway, it has me printing for now. I'm going to see if I can locate a part in Canada somewhere.
@@ghandimauler The new part that I purchased looked thicker in certain areas where it would matter. So maybe this was already addressed. The other thing to note is I don't remember seeing grease in the slot where the tab breaks off, I'm not sure why (no grease) since it's plastic on plastic rubbing.
New subscriber watching from Al Khafji Saudi Arabia. Sir can you help me with my brother L8690CDW there is power indicator light but there is NO DISPLAY to monitor . Any help im very appreciated thank you...
Welcome and great question. It may be very difficult to troubleshoot that. This information is directly from the Brother website: Brother logo in white For Business Skip Navigation Back The LCD display on my Brother machine is blank. What can I do? If the LCD display is blank, follow the steps listed below: Verify the power cord is connected to the back of the machine and the AC power outlet. If the power cord is connected to a surge protector or power switch, remove the cord from the device and connect it directly to the outlet. This is for testing purposes. Removing the device assists in determining if the issue is related to the device or the Brother machine. NOTE: To protect your investment against power surges and lightning, Brother strongly recommends they connect their machine to a surge protector. Verify the machine is powered ON. The Brother machine has an ON/OFF button located on control panel of the machine. If machine is OFF, the display will be blank. Press the Home icon (home icon.jpg) on the touch panel to verify if display screen shows the Home screen. Adjust the contrast of the LCD: Press the Settings icon Image on the touch screen. Press UP OR DOWN ARROW key on the touch panel until display shows General Setup. Press General Setup on the touch screen. Press UP OR DOWN ARROW key on the touch panel until display shows Panel Control. Press Panel Control on the touch screen. Press LCD Setting on the touch screen. Press Backlight on the touch screen. Press UP OR DOWN ARROW key on the touch panel until Dark is displayed on the touch screen. Press Dark. Press the Home icon Image to exit the menu. As noted above, there is an on/off switch on most if not all Brother printers, make sure that wasn't accidentally flipped since it may be easily overlooked. Good luck!
Thank you! My MFC 7360N is about ten years old and would have been scrapped/donated next week but I figured I’d try and find a solution on RUclips. Many of the other fixes required me to go find parts or take apart the printer. I noticed the white tab was pushed in, took a metal pick and pulled it back. Printer works now. Thank you so much!!!
Thank you sir..I checked everythign on my printer including cleaning the rollers, removing the cartridge, verifying paper size, checking the settings and nothing worked. Until I saw your video on the little white button on the side..whatever that button does must affect the sensing of paper..it worked! thank you much!!
You're welcome, I have another video on my channel regarding this issue. If that part slides, it's broken so it will most likely slide out of place again. Thanks for the comments!
I bought a second printer b/c I couldn't fix mine. Took it to a local repair shop, who recommended that I buy another one. Anyways, I didn't give up hope and I agree and resonate the "landfill" comment as well. So, after 2.5 years of sitting idle, now the printer is fully functional again. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH! I'm using this for my kids home schooling print outs.
Check out my other video I posted not long ago on replacing the part. If that part does float around the part is broken. It can be fixed for around $4 dollars if you do it yourself.
Oh my gosh, you saved me and my favorite printer/scanner! That little white button on the left was half way in, I pulled out and problems fixed. Thank you sooooooooo much!
I do have another video on a permanent fix. It's most likely that part is broken so it will eventually slide out of place causing it not to print again. Hope it helps!
Thank you so much ! My printer had not worked for several months. Luckily I watched this video and everything is working now. You are my savior ! My partner owes me a good bottle of wine!
I struggled for days on end and had just moved, so thought the MFC was bumped and knocked about, but after spending the last few hours today to get that little white tab out, the printer works. Hallelulah and thanks very much for the video. What a relief!
AWESOME, incredibly simple, but note JUST SKIP TO 3:48 TO SEE THE ACTUAL FIX as we have all probably done all the other crap already before getting to the point of finding this video.
Yes! Thank you. No idea why brother doesn't include this white tab fix in their troubleshooting video. They cover all your other suggestions. Back in business! Thanks again for posting this.
You save the day!!. Thank you ever so much. I was almost throw out the printer as it kept giving me that message "No Paper Error". The white plastic on the side near the feeder as you pull out the paper tray was loose. It may have to replace it at a later stage, but now I know where you are. You also have uploaded/edited the video to include the replacement if needed be. Once again a big "Thank You" one less thing contributed to the pollution of the environment. Your instruction on the Video is precise, clear and an excellent one too.
used a paper clip as a pick and pushed the little white tab back out. bingo! printer is working again! your instructions and video were very clear on what to do and how to do it. thanks so much for your help!!
Thank you! My piece is definitely broken and I will order a new one. But the temporary fix will work until then. And it allowed me to keep this workhorse of a printer (well over 9 years now)!
@@christineschmitz8809 You can try Amazon, just look for Feeder Cam Lever and whatever model to see if it will work with yours. If not on Amazon give Ebay a try.
It Worked, Thanks, I needed your other video to move the Feeder cam lever back into place, once I got the feeder back in place, the Printer worked even thought the cam lever still needs to be replaced. What a Great Set of Videos. I was insane trying the same troubleshooting techniques for months, this solved my problem in about 10 minutes
I did make another video of a permanent fix where that little plastic piece is replaced. It's worth a watch, I think it's only 4 mins long. Thanks for the kind words Sir!
You saved me. I was about to shop for a new one. My printer model is Brother HL-2280DW and the white tab is the one causing issues combined with a lot of lint on the roller on the paper tray. To fix the white tab, I first tried with a pen cap and the white tab went deep inside the chamber. Instead of opening the printer, I flipped the printer on the left side (on the white tab side) and used a Dental pick to fish that tab and place it in the right place. Once its in right place, i flipped the printer back to its base and voila it works!!
Thank you so much. After cleaning the rollers, powering off and unplugging the printer countless times, I thought I was going printer shopping this weekend. I got a pair of tweezers on standby to pull that white tab back in place if it happens again.
Wow, 5 stars to you. Pulling out that tab worked. Save me big time. I was right in the middle of a project. Could not afford the time to go get a new printer.
Wow. Thanks for this!!!!! I used tweezers to pull that little piece out. Need to read further comments to understand what it does and how to do a permanent fix. Like others I was worried I was going to have to replace the unit.
Fabulous. I had to go a little farther, but I think this fixed my issue. I did not have a dental pick or "hook" tool so I fashioned a hook out of a clothes hanger. But it turns out the little white piece would not simply pull into place for me. So I figured out how to remove the entire left side panel (screw in back inside flip-open panel, pressure-release tabs all around) and was able to access the compartment with the white piece. I had to reposition the white piece back onto a small rod that it pivots on, and carefully push it back into place so that it is in place through the opening you show in your video as seen from the front, and so that the small white "finger" (very thin part of the white plastic piece) was through a guide slot, through which the finger travels when one inserts the tray which pushes on the white piece. Seems to be working now. Also seems like it's waiting to happen again (white piece sliding off the small rod) but we will see! Thank you!!
Gregory! you saved me from buying a new printer with an extended warranty. Your advice was on the money and that spring was a pain too. I should have taken pictures to help the next guy
it took a few minutes to figure out where the screw was.....but excellent "little farther" fix. Thank you all for instruction on fix! This totally gave me confidence.
It will happen again, the tab is broken and shouldn't move in that manner. The part is LY2579001, can be found on Amazon or eBay for $5 - $10. Haha, I created another video on fixing it permanently. Check it out since that part may float around (if broken) even after sliding it back into place.
I have a Brother HL-2280DW with this problem. Unfortunately, the white paper feed tab that you reference here is very difficult to pull out. Do you recommend I pull it with force or have another method to pull it out based on your recommendations? Thanks
I wouldn't pull it with force.. if it's the same design it maybe catching on something preventing you from easily sliding it. You may have to take the side panel off to get a better look. I have another brother video on this on my channel.
Thank YOU! the little white tab did the trick. Very frustrated would have smashed it with a sledge hammer! Now if manual guide would print straight instead of crooked
Awesome, thx! The pushed in clip at the end of your video did the trick. Although I did follow the initial cleaning steps, including removal of the roller to clean more thoroughly, it wasnt until I pulled out the clip that it worked again. Thanks for the helpful video clip! Essential fix during this crises period when shops are closed.👍🏻😃
U R THE MAN!!!! I had to pull it out a couple of times to get it to work. If I push the tray in so that it's pushing to the left, it presses it back to far??? BUT if I push in tray and hold to right side it works PERFECT!!! Wonder whay Brother doesn't mention that and I wonder what it's called and if it's supposed to be spring loaded??

The little white tab was the problem. Worked. Thanks :-)
Thanks for your help Chad, this video helped out, pulling out the white tab did it.

I wouldn't pull it with force.. if it's the same design it maybe catching on something preventing you from easily sliding it. You may have to take the side panel off to get a better look. I have another brother video on this on my channel.
@@chadj77 I saw that video as well. Thank you. I'll use it as a reference to help me permanently fix this problem.
youre the greatest detective/genius. thank you.
Wow it worked!! Shocked and very pleased!! Thank you!!
That little white f***k tab...that all it took! I was pulling my hair trying to fix this. Thank you!
Thank YOU! the little white tab did the trick. Very frustrated would have smashed it with a sledge hammer! Now if manual guide would print straight instead of crooked
Thanks brother I appreciate your information which was very helpful ! I used a paper clip to bring the white tab out- little f was hiding !
Yes a real brother, unlike the other Brother that has a design defect and won't provide a simple fix.
Thank you! Exactly it is the white tab!
You saved my day and printer. Thanks much
Wonderful !!!! It works perfectly for me. I struggled many days with the printers with no hope. Thanks so much for your video
Pulling the white tab did it ! I turned the printer vertical for a better view and used nose pliers. How in the world did you figure that out?
I think my little tab is broken or stuck. How do I go about repairing that if at all? Can it be replaced?

Thanks! It was that little white plastic piece for me! LOL Thank you for making this video!
Thank you so much this fixed my no paper error for me. It was the white tab part, Your wonderful
Thanks MATE!!!! the white tab fix - you saved me.
Wow, you're the man! Worked like a charm
Thank you for this video! I just fixed this issue with the help of this video!
Pefect / It saved me from buying a new printer / Thanks for the efforts doing the video
