How does this compare with Lexus ES350? Such as interior materials, leather, comfort of seats, and of course softness of the ride and smoothness, and reduced road noise? Some say the Lexus is much more high quality and luxury but the Avalon appears very close. What is the true difference between the two, other than cost and the size difference?
lexus AFAIK still made in japan, with typical japanese levels of build quality. toyotas made outside of japan with variable build quality, translates into more squeaks and rattles in the later years, though my '04 was tight as a tick over bumpy roads, no squeaks or rattles at all. the lexus es300/350 of the last generation, is perceptibly quieter and better over sharp pavement flaws, a more bank-vaulty solid feeling.

Oh and all you Taurus and Buick lovers out there remember that you are really comparing your 2011 model cars to this "2005" remake and the Avalon is still better......except for the dated exterior of course.
i think this car is not bad if you want more of a large family sedan with some luxury feature sedan, and great reliability. If sportiness performance and more styling is important to you, then look somewhere else. the genesis is also a great sedan but i wouldn't call it sporty though. it's a bit soft unlike the bmw 3 series.
That time Japan built a REAL Buick! I am a Buick guy, but Buick decided NOT to be a "low key" premium car by '11, Toyota steps in with a "Buick" for REAL. Buick was Cadillac for people NOT wanting to "show off". That's what Avalon's point was. A "Lexus" without the "show-off" baggage of having the Lexus badge.
Incorrect. That happened in 2007, where Japanese vehicles did at a time dominate the American car market for a year or so, where 52% of cars on the roads were Japanese. Not anymore, currently in 2012, American cars have made a comeback, along with the economy, the percentage of Japanese cars in American roads are at around 40%.

They replaced the Avalon with the crown which doesn’t sell. Toyota shouldn’t have discontinued it
I agree
Super great car even though it's long overdue for an actual makeover and not just an update to the 2005 model. Oh and all you Taurus and Buick lovers out there remember that you are really comparing your 2011 model cars to this "2005" remake and the Avalon is still better......except for the dated exterior of course.
@soyntgo4it I totally agree. I currently drive a avalon myself but I wanna get a camry next.
i think this car is not bad if you want more of a large family sedan with some luxury feature sedan, and great reliability. If sportiness performance and more styling is important to you, then look somewhere else. the genesis is also a great sedan but i wouldn't call it sporty though. it's a bit soft unlike the bmw 3 series.
Most people thinking of a Toyota don't even realize the Avalon even exists until they see it on the lot.
4:41, my favorite part of the video begins.
Then that means American used cars can be reliable as well if I go through inspection. Thanks for the info.
I'm skinny, but enjoy bigger vehicles. Not dumb, lifted trucks, but rather more expansive sized cars and minivans.
What speed were u going at the cone test cuz I understeered heavily when coming around an s-turn
The Equus was never an Avalon competitor, it was more of an LS competitor
Avalon vs. Equus? Are you out of your mind? MAYBE Avalon vs. V6 Genesis.
I haven't seen a noticeable difference in APR before and then.
In regards to Longevity, which years are the best Avalons?
2011-2012 the best model, after that its ugly and look like camry
الافالون سيدة الشارع
Damn that new Avalon looks good
@ArslanYork i have a 97 Avalon XLS 112K n runs perfect too.. wish i can get the 2011 tho
Incorrect.
That happened in 2007, where Japanese vehicles did at a time dominate the American car market for a year or so, where 52% of cars on the roads were Japanese.
Not anymore, currently in 2012, American cars have made a comeback, along with the economy, the percentage of Japanese cars in American roads are at around 40%.
hyundai Equus competes with the Avalon???? u mean the genesis
Nice, but I like Lacrosse, Taurus and Genesis.
This generation is better than 21 one
There is a reason people made the phrase, "if the van is a rockin" ;) Take it as you will if you live in West Virginia... "room for the whole family". :P
now you dont, but back in 2008-2009 they did
i feel like it’s published in 1990
Hey Chevy Cruze is assembled in Lordstown Ohio. How about Ford Focus? Look up the fact before saying something.
Hey man, I have friends who are working at Detroit and they are hardworking folks. You only saw some poor examples and blame everything American. You think Toyota took recall seriously? Then how come they tried to hide problems before making a recall. This was mentioned in WSJ article back in Feb 10, 2010.
These are notable quotes from article
@stang46281 How the heck you put that much miles on a 2004 car. Did you drive it around the world or what. LOL
Hi
Whats the difference between 2011 Toyota Avalon Base and Limited?
John noted most of the differences but the Limited trim gets a wood trimmed steering wheel, cooled seats (not just heat) and different wheels.
@@jeepthing98 auto stores sell a fake wood trim steering cover.
@jvrdlc thats what i though too!... The Equas its not even close to this!
You said hyundai Equis? It's genesis.
The 05-10 is better looking than the 11-12
