    It will be a beautiful place when it’s finished. It’s already charming. The nice thing is, that the ceilings are much higher than in a lot of Swedish cottages built around this time or older.

    Getting the barn cleaned out must feel good,!!

    Instead of throwing them away you could compost the boxes or use it to start the fire in the stove.

      Exactly what I was thinking.

      Exactly! But watch out, this guy is quite sensitive to healthy criticism .. your comment might get deleted, lol .. I told him twice that if the stuff is old, it's not junk, it's completely reusable .. it's not smart to create waste .. both comments removed 🤣

      I agree - shred or tear up the cardboard for the compost bins. Plus put all the sweepings from the barns on there too. And turn the compost regularly.

    I just noticed the tool markings on the timber upstairs next to the door of the blue room, awesome. It gives you an idea of how old the house is and the labour involved at the time.❤

    Nothing like a good clean up, the extra roof tiles will be useful.

    If you're measuring the lenght of a wall you could also take that measurement at different heights. This could be helpful if the walls are leaning in or out in some way since you would only get the same value at a different height if the wall and the wall you're measuring to are parallell to each other. Maybe it's not super important that you get every measurement exactly spot on, but it could at least be something to think about.

    What a brilliant way to cover the hole in the guest house roof!. When people do it around here, I can never see how they get the tarp up there, and how they hold it down - it looks like they just nail it to the roof, but that never made sense.... Now if I ever have to do this, I'll have an idea about how to approach it. Thanks!

    Is the guest cabin over the stream ?, do you think that this was the original dwelling of the first owners ?

    Where building a gypsy wagon and have a old wood stove with a oven in it, I wonder why there’s iron in the clay on top of the oven , can’t find any information on the internet,
    Kind regards Jan

    • @MarcusStorm
      @MarcusStorm  10 месяцев назад +3

      Hey Jan, the iron filings in the clay help trap the heat in the clay and work as a binder for the clay. Putting some of it on top helps maintain a more consistent heat I guess
