@@cowboycarl121 I talked specifically about this song, the michael jackson one dont sounds like that. And it sounds specifically like a snes game not any old game music.
Technically they are. In this case one of the gentlemen cranking actually arranged this music (so is the ‘noteur’), so these are his books we’re hearing. In a mechanical organ, it doesn’t just “make it up”; the arranger or noteur “plays” the organ via the medium such as pinned cylinder, cardboard book, paper roll, computer data etc.
Amazing arrangement!!!!!! Great job guys......obviously you have practiced a good deal to be able to "read" each other so well.......AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He did freak out when he visited the Mechanisches Musikkabinett Museum and went down into the basement where they keep most of the barrel organs. They also have a recreation of Giovanni Bacigalupo’s workshop (world famous street organ builder from Berlin) in that museum.
That was brilliant and proves that old technology can handle any music at all. How on earth you both managed to synchronise the organs is amazing. I cranked a Verbeek organ once and I know that the speed of cranking affects the tempo of the music. How did you manage to keep it all synchronised? Brilliant anyway!
When you get the chance crank two Raffin organs with a buddy... personally I like to have at least partially visual help when playing synchronized... but generally you do it in the same way you would play an instrument in the orchestra/band: by ear! As long as everyone sync-ing up agrees on what the tempo of the song is supposed to be, you play that song... these days there is a lot of bluetooth synchronization going on... but as long as there is a book or a roll in play, no such cheating!
Plot twist: it was all recorded with MIDI in advance and they're just crank-syncing for the camera! Haha probably not, but I'm curious how this was recorded with such a nice stereo image... where do you even put the microphones? It sounds like at least 2-3 mics on each organ.
@@drewsquickfix It's certainly possible but I think the lack of background noise isn't necessarily proof. It could be reduced to -60 with a good noise profile and gated as well. Or they could have something like a piano mic on the inside! Either way, somebody put some work in to make it sound good, and even if it is a MIDI sequence, that's no easy task either!
Just to clear it up: you are not listening to a MIDI recording here (such things have happened on youtube already tho as well) but that is indeed the sound of these two organs. There *was* MIDI involved in the process of making the two organ books, tho!
Hurrah! What a wonderful melody! I congratulate one who programmed the melodies in barrel organ. Even some clocks marked the hours of the day by playing melodies on built in barrel organ just before or soon after striking the hours. Such clocks are known as pipe-organ clocks. Nowadays music-box, chiming clocks and pipe-organ clocks are electronically imitated by some quartz clocks because they contains electronically recorded and programmed circuit board of sound chips connected to speaker. But nothing can beat the real music-boxes, barrel organ, pipe-organ clocks and chiming clocks.

thats because its similar to something called midi which is what they used to make music for the old games like that.
@@cowboycarl121 I talked specifically about this song, the michael jackson one dont sounds like that. And it sounds specifically like a snes game not any old game music.
I other words, computer music sequencers are essentially digital copies of this technology.
and years later does it become YT algorithm worthy?! I would have enjoyed this on the front page years ago !
