I honestly wouldn't even mind if the next game went only with first-party content. While third party characters can be cool and fun it's really a very toxic side of the fanbase when it comes to wishes and speculations. Third-party characters also undoubtedly take much more time, money and effort to create than first-party characters. Obviously I'm not a developer and I know nothing but I'd guess it's safe to assume that the time it would take to make 3 third-party characters they could probably make like 5 first-party characters with significantly less money.
If we do get Noah in the next Smash game, I can't see him not being a 2-in-1 like Pyra/Mythra, with him swapping back and forth with Mio. Their final Smashes being the two of them Interlinking into their Ouroboros form (the form depending on which one was out) and unleashing their Chain Attack finisher with a flashy recreation of the Ouroboros Order.
I've seen a video making a moveset with them and having a xenoblade 3 rep being less Noah/Mio and more Swordfighter/Zephyr which personally I think is even better
A few first-party characters you didn't name that I could see working in a new Smash game: Giovanni (Pokemon) - A way to add another Trainer character and a villain from the Pokemon series, issue is he'd be another Gen 1 rep. Cynthia (Pokemon) - See Giovanni, except not Gen 1 or a villain, though technically the final boss of the Gen 4 games. Leon (Pokemon) - See Cynthia, except with Pokemon from different and more current regions, issue is his ace is a Charizard. Giegue (Earthbound) - Potential Mother 1 rep, can utilize parts of Mewtwo's moveset if Mewtwo itself can't stay in the roster. Tiki (Fire Emblem) - Can basically replace Corrin to represent dragons and shapeshifters in Fire Emblem. Twintelle (ARMS) - Aside from Min-Min, she's one of the most popular characters from the series. Lip (Panel de Pon) - Potential puzzle game rep, can help represent more game genres in the roster. Ayumi Tachibana (Famicom Detective Club) - See Lip, except with visual novels, imagine her fighting like Phoenix Wright in MvC3. Andy (Advance Wars) - Series has gotten a recent boost thanks to Re-Boot Camp, adds a more modern military-styled character.

I'm kind of disappointed that Hades wasn't mentioned. His larger than life personality would be so much fun to capture in Smash, and he'd add another villain to the series.
Tabuu would be my new main if he was in Smash. Maybe he could be like Sephiroth where he deals a horrifying amount of damage but is also extremely easy to K.O.
I do hope the newcomers have a bigger focus on first party, and they aren't just "main character from the latest game in the series". The base game did a good job focusing on villains, for the most part, but it would have been nice if the theme carried over to the DLC. I wonder if people's opinions on the Byleth trailer would have been different if Nemesis slaughtered Byleth and it was him who got into Smash. Skull Kid as a new Zelda character would be great. My ideas for New Super Smash Bros Characters! For Animal Crossing characters! I agree with your idea of having K.K. Slider on there. Especially giving he is Animal Crossing’s most famous musician! I also in addition would love to see Tom Nook as a Fighter aside that & possibly Blathers the Owl. Or maybe Flick the Chameleon. For Super Smash Bros! I think Alear of Fire Emblem Engage would be a good pick too! I’d also recommend using Alm & Celica too. Also maybe adding Shez from Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes. For Dragon Quest! I’d recommend adding Carver & Terry from the 6th edition. For MegaMan! I’d recommend adding Protoman & Bass & since they have certain other most evil villains on there! Add Dr. Wily in addition too! Lastly! For Sonic the Hedgehog! Aside Sonic himself! Good additions I believe would be great would be Shadow, Tales, Amy & Dr. Eggman as well as Knuckles. And possibly maybe adding Silver, Blaze & Rouge too.

Samurai Goroh for F-Zero! I think he's the best choice as a duel-wielding swordfighter. I don't see us getting an f-zero rep though and I only think Black Shadow words if they rework Ganon to make him more unique.
I think with the confirmed remake of Super Mario RPG (which might not've been announced when this video initially came out? idk) Nintendo is testing out the waters of Geno being a bigger part of Mario and maybe eventually in Smash, since the Mii Fighter Costume shows that they are aware of how popular Geno specifically is. I think with a bit of time Geno might have a chance. That being said, Geno's not my most wanted character for Smash, even narrowing it down to 1st Party or even Mario reps. Overall Shadow the Hedgehog is my most wanted pick for Smash, with my most wanted 1st Party pick being Waluigi, who is obviously my most wanted Mario character as well. Also, until she returns in a new Star Fox game Krystal has almost no shot. And no offense, I hope I'm right, Fox's character went down the drain when he met her, and her character aint much better imo.....

I always thought the idea of Echo Fighters was underused, and I think it would be interesting to max that out in a new smash game. Characters like Shadow and Dixie Kong would be perfect, modeled off existing characters but tweaked slightly. Easily add in stuff like Ninten and the Pikmin characters. Maybe have different versions of Link from different games, like TP vs BOTW??
Dixie Kong would probably be more of a semi-clone, only because of her big ponytail and the possibility of attacks she can use with it, but most of her moves would be borrowed from Diddy Kong for sure. I think Funky Kong would work really well as an echo fighter for Donkey Kong though. I wouldn't mind Shadow as an echo fighter for Sonic, but a lot of fans would complain about that because of so many other unique abilities he has, and I'm not entirely sure if SEGA would be on board with that either.

Honest question: Do you guys really want ring fit trainer for smash? Honestly I don't. Just because wii fit trainer was in the last two games doesn't mean that people need to follow the same trends that happened in past smash games. This is like an Arms situation. People saw the trailer for Arms and saw the design of the characters and said "let's have an Arms character in the next Smash game." Min Min becomes a playable character, and almost universally people have disliked the character. All I'm saying is maybe think about the character first before you request them to be playable in the next game.
I mean, Ring Fit Adventure sold 15 million copies. It's sold more than any Splatoon game, and is technically Nintendo's most successful individual game within a new IP since the Wii series of games. The only things that have outsold it on switch are Animal Crossing, Mario, Zelda, Smash and Pokemon. So it's pretty fair if you ask me, if only as another 'gimmick' character. And would be very unique character regardless.

14:25: There's a FAR better rep for Rhythm Heaven: Barista! Yeah. Sorry, but I can't see Rhythm Heaven as more than a single rep series. And if the series is only going to get one fighter, it better fit in as much of that series as possible. So "Hipster Dog who's Really Good at Rhythm Heaven"? That's what you go with. That premise allows you to make the rep a love letter to the whole series, not just one character.

1. Yes he is? Wihout a doubt. I would like to hear your reasoning to why he isn't. I mean, most people don't even know franchises like Fire Emblem or Xenoblade exist, let alone the characters in them. 2. I've grown towards the gen 9 starters a little bit since this video. I stand by that water abomination being an abomination, but I don't mind Meowscarada. Better than the gen 8 starters, but I'd still rather get a non-starter fighter, hence the 'begrudgingly'. 3. That's the point of the video. I could go with more interesting or unique fighters, but they wouldn't be liekly to be included, nor would be a better choice due to popularity or to represent their series/games/etc.

You have maybe 3-4 characters in the 80+ character roster that you might have a point to. 2)A starters design has nothing to do with the potential choices Smash might make. Look at Incin for example. Like if you were to show a picture of Pyra or Lucina to some random person, they'd more than likely have no idea what you're doing and ask you to leave. But Waluigi is such a massive icon and popular Mario character. Just skimming through the roster, I'd argue that even being generous, there's only about 20-25 characters who would be more well known than Waluigi is. Which is a quarter of the roster. And here's a quote directly from the smash wiki: "Although Sakurai did consider Decidueye, he ultimately chose Incineroar instead, primarily because he had never designed a wrestling-oriented fighter before" Seems like it was chosen for its design.

I actually go into depth with my opinion on that in my latest video. That said, Link's moveset is used in 3 characters. Not as bad as FE. But half of the Zelda reps are clones in that sense. And half of them are the same character, though the reuse of the same character isn't necessarily the issue. If Young Link used masks, and Toon Link used adult timeline abilities, like with Hyrule Warriors, then I don't think anyone would complain.

Tails has the best chances out of the first four characters you mentioned, and maybe Shantae. I think we'll get a different Pokémon rep than Meowscarada by the time the next Smash game releases, but assuming we still have Greninja, Charizard and/or Incineroar, I'm hoping it will be a fully evolved Grass starter to complement them.
I feel like since Waluigi is in fact a cheater type, for each different costume color you choose, he can spawn in with a different item at the beginning of the game
Geno was my most wanted character for DLC after Banjo & Kazooie, and I think it's safe to say his chances for the next Smash game have just skyrocketed with a Super Mario RPG remake coming to the Switch.
If they decided to made a new Smash Bros for a next Nintendo console, the most big priority to do for fix Smash Bros in hope they gonna do it for the next game is to rebalance the characters roster because, not gonna lie and I gonna be straight, the character roster in Wii U/3DS and Ultimate is pathetic since we have too much Fire Emblem characters, too much Pokemon characters and too much Mario characters while Star Fox and Kirby have only 3 characters since Brawl, Captain Falcon is still alone since the first Smash Bros 64 game despite there are others F-Zero characters and we have even Bood Falcon who could be a good Captain Falcon Echo if Nintendo is too lazy for bring back other F-Zero characters with new moveset but they didn't do it for Ultimate so there are so much characters who miss their chance and who could end up like a good Echo characters like Shadow the Hedgehog as a Echo characters for Sonic so, when I see they miss so much opportunity with the Echo system, I feel like the Echo system is useless in Ultimate, Zelda characters don't get any newcomers since Brawl so we have just 3 different Link with similar moveset, Earthbound / Mother have only Ness and Lucas since Brawl. There are two way to fix it: -First way: If Nintendo still play dumb by refuse to add more Star Fox, Metroid, Kirby, Earthbound/Mothers, F-Zero characters and others, I think they should better removed somes Mario, Fire Emblem and Pokemon characters for the next game because I don't think people gonna laught the Nintendo jokes if they release another newcomer from Pokemon, Fire Emblem and Mario characters by still do f*ck finger to others Nintendo characters when we remember about the Byleth drama in Smash Ultimate with Sakurai who get hardly insulted on his Twitter account for have add another Fire Emblem characters or people who was upset against others people who wanted more Mario and Pokemon characters instead see more characters from the others serie who suffer a lack of playabe characters. I think they should remove the Piranha Plant from Mario Roster, remove Lucina, Chrom and Ike because they are too much similar to Marth and Roy and not only because the moveset since they have blue hairs, swords and cape as well instead be unique so I can only see Corrin and Daraen to have something unique about design or moveset and be so much different unlike Marth and his brothers and sisters, remove Pichu and Lucario or Mewtwo since they are too much similar each other. -Second way that I like more than the first way: To not add any Mario, Fire Emblem or Pokemon newcomer for the next game except if it's Waluigi or the Black Knight since people want them so much, add more Star Fox characters like Slippy and Peppy who was supposed be playable in the Smash games since Melee before they go cut and add Krystal and Leon Powalski as well, adding more Metroid characters like E.M.M.I, Raven Beak and the Hunters like Noxus, Sylux and others from Metroid Prime Hunters, give somes love to the F-Zero serie by finally add new characters from the F-Zero serie, adding more Kirby characters like Magolor, Taranza, Susie and Galacta Knight, add more new Zelda characters like the Champions from BOTW (Revali could be a good choice since I don't remember to have see a Smash character use a bow as his main weapon) or previous Zelda games characters like Zant, Midna and somes others, add more Earthbound/Mothers characters, add more Sonic, Mega Man and Banjo-Kazooie characters in Smash now they have add them in the Smash serie. Ah and of course to add more new stages level like they did in previous Smash games instead do recycled stage content just for the fan service with a lack of new playable stage because the true fan know at start the Smash Bros games always have new stage for the next Smash game and very few old stage bring back to the new games and that the roster was always balanced since Smash 64 to Brawl until Smash Wii U/3DS and Ultimate coming and ruin it. It's was long but it's my own way to see what Nintendo should really do for the next game because, not gonna lie, when Smash Ultimate have been released and when I have see most of the content without and with the DLC, I was feeling disappointing since Smash Ultimate really missing a very good balanced playable characters choice because, when we see there are too much Mario, Pokemon and Fire Emblem playable characters while there is a big lack of playable characters choice for the others serie, it feel like Nintendo try to do somes publicity toward Mario, Pokemon and Fire Emblem serie for force Smash players to give more attention to the Mario, Pokemon and Fire Emblem games as if they was the 3 games who get the worse sales and that everyone don't really care. I don't really understand why they do that since they are the 3 most popular game in Japan unlike Star Fox, Pikmin, Metroid and somes others who are less popular in Japan and who deserve more attention than Mario, Fire Emblem and Pokemon. So, whatever people think about Smash 64, Melee and Brawl but, for me, those 3 Smash was the best Smash Bros when the roster characters was balanced until Smash 3DS/Wii U coming and remove the wrong characters that they shouldn't remove like Lucas by let Ness from Earthbound / Mother alone until he be back as DLC, Wolf cut from the game by just let Fox and Falco as the two only Star Fox characters while they add more Mario, Fire Emblem and Pokemon characters in 3DS/Wii U until they half fix it for Ultimate by bring back the missing Smash Bros Brawl cut characters in 3DS/Wii U but by still adding too much Mario, Pokemon and Fire Emblem characters so I end up to be back in Super Smash Bros Brawl since the last year and I'm glad to finally be able to create my own characters mods in this game so I'm more focus to add characters who will probably never end up in Smash like Skylanders, Digimon, Mega Man and others since I'm sure Nintendo don't gonna do it for the next game.

When people Said waluigi could represent spinoff game you do know peach and daisy have moves from spinoff games right? Mario also have a move or two as well. Mario spinoff are representing in smash don't need waluigi. Than their Pauline, kamak and spike from wreck n crew he gotten popular over the years which means his chances are slowly decreased for the next smash games.
Perhaps, but I think it still gives justification for his inclusion. Peach's moveset is really only 2/3's of her side smashes, and I can't really think of anything Mario has to reference the spin offs. Waluigi's popularity as is validates his inclusion alone, let alone the spin off status. I really would expect Waluigi to be included sooner than Pauline, Kamek and Spike because of that.

I don't think it would work as well. The first time it was shocking as it was the WTF character the Ultimte edition. A goomba would look like a lazy replica. But yeah! Even the next edition needs a WTF character. My list of candidates includes: Arcade Bunny, Barbara The Bat, Bubsy The Bobcat, Coupè from Wild Trax/Stunt Race Fx (I love how sassy she is in the japanese animated commercial), Necky The Fox, the Polar Bear from Ice Climbers, Tetramino and Tingle.

Smash bros 6?!!! With all same characters. So that means more characters are coming to smash. Like Blood Falcon. Waluigi. Black Shadow. And the other characters that looks like from pmex remix. And DLC Characters. I know some familiar stages and new stages are coming to smash. . . That would be good.

I honestly wouldn't even mind if the next game went only with first-party content. While third party characters can be cool and fun it's really a very toxic side of the fanbase when it comes to wishes and speculations.
Third-party characters also undoubtedly take much more time, money and effort to create than first-party characters. Obviously I'm not a developer and I know nothing but I'd guess it's safe to assume that the time it would take to make 3 third-party characters they could probably make like 5 first-party characters with significantly less money.
If we do get Noah in the next Smash game, I can't see him not being a 2-in-1 like Pyra/Mythra, with him swapping back and forth with Mio. Their final Smashes being the two of them Interlinking into their Ouroboros form (the form depending on which one was out) and unleashing their Chain Attack finisher with a flashy recreation of the Ouroboros Order.
I've seen a video making a moveset with them and having a xenoblade 3 rep being less Noah/Mio and more Swordfighter/Zephyr which personally I think is even better

Giovanni (Pokemon) - A way to add another Trainer character and a villain from the Pokemon series, issue is he'd be another Gen 1 rep.
Cynthia (Pokemon) - See Giovanni, except not Gen 1 or a villain, though technically the final boss of the Gen 4 games.
Leon (Pokemon) - See Cynthia, except with Pokemon from different and more current regions, issue is his ace is a Charizard.
Giegue (Earthbound) - Potential Mother 1 rep, can utilize parts of Mewtwo's moveset if Mewtwo itself can't stay in the roster.
Tiki (Fire Emblem) - Can basically replace Corrin to represent dragons and shapeshifters in Fire Emblem.
Twintelle (ARMS) - Aside from Min-Min, she's one of the most popular characters from the series.
Lip (Panel de Pon) - Potential puzzle game rep, can help represent more game genres in the roster.

I'm kind of disappointed that Hades wasn't mentioned. His larger than life personality would be so much fun to capture in Smash, and he'd add another villain to the series.
Tabuu would be my new main if he was in Smash. Maybe he could be like Sephiroth where he deals a horrifying amount of damage but is also extremely easy to K.O.
I do hope the newcomers have a bigger focus on first party, and they aren't just "main character from the latest game in the series". The base game did a good job focusing on villains, for the most part, but it would have been nice if the theme carried over to the DLC. I wonder if people's opinions on the Byleth trailer would have been different if Nemesis slaughtered Byleth and it was him who got into Smash. Skull Kid as a new Zelda character would be great. Malos may work as an echo fighter for Shulk. When it's just "protagonist from the newest game", it's not an interesting pick.

There will now be a new split path on the top left where Steve from Minecraft is located as a starter leading to the plains with stones in it and on that path, you’ll unlock Mii Fighter and on the other path is Banjo and Kazooie
New sub world where Porky fights as a boss returning from Brawl and inside that world, you’ll unlock Lucas as a fighter and outside of that sub world, Sonic can be unlocked in the light world instead of the dark world making Sonic being unlockable so much early on in the game
On the path right under the temple and above the Jungle, Min-Min is no longer a spirit and is now an unlockable fighter in that area and the Min-Min spirit is replaced by Berecca from Ninjala
Sora now has its own sub world full of Kingdom Hearts spirits and Sora himself
Roy is no longer found in the final battle, it is instead placed in the Zelda world in the dark area

My ideas for New Super Smash Bros Characters! For Animal Crossing characters! I agree with your idea of having K.K. Slider on there. Especially giving he is Animal Crossing’s most famous musician! I also in addition would love to see Tom Nook as a Fighter aside that & possibly Blathers the Owl. Or maybe Flick the Chameleon. For Super Smash Bros! I think Alear of Fire Emblem Engage would be a good pick too! I’d also recommend using Alm & Celica too. Also maybe adding Shez from Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes. For Dragon Quest! I’d recommend adding Carver & Terry from the 6th edition. For MegaMan! I’d recommend adding Protoman & Bass & since they have certain other most evil villains on there! Add Dr. Wily in addition too! Lastly! For Sonic the Hedgehog! Aside Sonic himself! Good additions I believe would be great would be Shadow, Tales, Amy & Dr. Eggman as well as Knuckles. I think with the confirmed remake of Super Mario RPG (which might not've been announced when this video initially came out? idk) Nintendo is testing out the waters of Geno being a bigger part of Mario and maybe eventually in Smash, since the Mii Fighter Costume shows that they are aware of how popular Geno specifically is. I think with a bit of time Geno might have a chance. That being said, Geno's not my most wanted character for Smash, even narrowing it down to 1st Party or even Mario reps. Overall Shadow the Hedgehog is my most wanted pick for Smash, with my most wanted 1st Party pick being Waluigi, who is obviously my most wanted Mario character as well.
Also, until she returns in a new Star Fox game Krystal has almost no shot. And no offense, I hope I'm right, Fox's character went down the drain when he met her, and her character aint much better imo.....

I always thought the idea of Echo Fighters was underused, and I think it would be interesting to max that out in a new smash game. Characters like Shadow and Dixie Kong would be perfect, modeled off existing characters but tweaked slightly. Easily add in stuff like Ninten and the Pikmin characters. Maybe have different versions of Link from different games, like TP vs BOTW??

I find echo fighters just as a lazy excuse to technically have more characters when their just carbon copies taking up space on the board
Dixie Kong would probably be more of a semi-clone, only because of her big ponytail and the possibility of attacks she can use with it, but most of her moves would be borrowed from Diddy Kong for sure. I think Funky Kong would work really well as an echo fighter for Donkey Kong though. I wouldn't mind Shadow as an echo fighter for Sonic, but a lot of fans would complain about that because of so many other unique abilities he has, and I'm not entirely sure if SEGA would be on board with that either.

Honest question: Do you guys really want ring fit trainer for smash? Honestly I don't. Just because wii fit trainer was in the last two games doesn't mean that people need to follow the same trends that happened in past smash games.
This is like an Arms situation. People saw the trailer for Arms and saw the design of the characters and said "let's have an Arms character in the next Smash game." Min Min becomes a playable character, and almost universally people have disliked the character. All I'm saying is maybe think about the character first before you request them to be playable in the next game.
I mean, Ring Fit Adventure sold 15 million copies. It's sold more than any Splatoon game, and is technically Nintendo's most successful individual game within a new IP since the Wii series of games. The only things that have outsold it on switch are Animal Crossing, Mario, Zelda, Smash and Pokemon. So it's pretty fair if you ask me, if only as another 'gimmick' character. And would be very unique character regardless.

Also just because something sold really well doesn't mean they need to be playable in smash. Wii Fit sold really well on the Wii, but I guarantee you the reason why they put Wii Fit Trainer in smash wasn't because of its sales, they put her in the game because she was a joke character.

And if the series is only going to get one fighter, it better fit in as much of that series as possible. So "Hipster Dog who's Really Good at Rhythm Heaven"? That's what you go with. That premise allows you to make the rep a love letter to the whole series, not just one character.

We are STILL WONT get any spinoff characters that is NOT fully owned by that curtain company since Dr Mario IS indeed a spin-off character, HOWEVER he and his series is created by Nintendo themselves, which is why we wont still get Waluigi or Paper Mario(character) like them in the series no matter how you wanted them.

A lot of “safe” choices you made
1. Yes he is? Wihout a doubt. I would like to hear your reasoning to why he isn't. I mean, most people don't even know franchises like Fire Emblem or Xenoblade exist, let alone the characters in them.
2. I've grown towards the gen 9 starters a little bit since this video. I stand by that water abomination being an abomination, but I don't mind Meowscarada. Better than the gen 8 starters, but I'd still rather get a non-starter fighter, hence the 'begrudgingly'.
3. That's the point of the video. I could go with more interesting or unique fighters, but they wouldn't be liekly to be included, nor would be a better choice due to popularity or to represent their series/games/etc.
@@WumbleWasp 1)FE and Xenoblade are very well known and I’m sure my friends can disagree with that. You have maybe 3-4 characters in the 80+ character roster that you might have a point to.
2)A starters design has nothing to do with the potential choices Smash might make. Look at Incin for example. They definitely didn’t choose it for its design

Like if you were to show a picture of Pyra or Lucina to some random person, they'd more than likely have no idea what you're doing and ask you to leave. But Waluigi is such a massive icon and popular Mario character. Just skimming through the roster, I'd argue that even being generous, there's only about 20-25 characters who would be more well known than Waluigi is. Which is a quarter of the roster.
And here's a quote directly from the smash wiki: "Although Sakurai did consider Decidueye, he ultimately chose Incineroar instead, primarily because he had never designed a wrestling-oriented fighter before" Seems like it was chosen for its design.

I actually go into depth with my opinion on that in my latest video.
That said, Link's moveset is used in 3 characters. Not as bad as FE. But half of the Zelda reps are clones in that sense. And half of them are the same character, though the reuse of the same character isn't necessarily the issue. If Young Link used masks, and Toon Link used adult timeline abilities, like with Hyrule Warriors, then I don't think anyone would complain.

Tails has the best chances out of the first four characters you mentioned, and maybe Shantae. I think we'll get a different Pokémon rep than Meowscarada by the time the next Smash game releases, but assuming we still have Greninja, Charizard and/or Incineroar, I'm hoping it will be a fully evolved Grass starter to complement them.

Smash 6?
Geno was my most wanted character for DLC after Banjo & Kazooie, and I think it's safe to say his chances for the next Smash game have just skyrocketed with a Super Mario RPG remake coming to the Switch.

If they decided to made a new Smash Bros for a next Nintendo console, the most big priority to do for fix Smash Bros in hope they gonna do it for the next game is to rebalance the characters roster because, not gonna lie and I gonna be straight, the character roster in Wii U/3DS and Ultimate is pathetic since we have too much Fire Emblem characters, too much Pokemon characters and too much Mario characters while Star Fox and Kirby have only 3 characters since Brawl, Captain Falcon is still alone since the first Smash Bros 64 game despite there are others F-Zero characters and we have even Bood Falcon who could be a good Captain Falcon Echo if Nintendo is too lazy for bring back other F-Zero characters with new moveset but they didn't do it for Ultimate so there are so much characters who miss their chance and who could end up like a good Echo characters like Shadow the Hedgehog as a Echo characters for Sonic so, when I see they miss so much opportunity with the Echo system, I feel like the Echo system is useless in Ultimate, Zelda characters don't get any newcomers since Brawl so we have just 3 different Link with similar moveset, Earthbound / Mother have only Ness and Lucas since Brawl.
There are two way to fix it:
-First way: If Nintendo still play dumb by refuse to add more Star Fox, Metroid, Kirby, Earthbound/Mothers, F-Zero characters and others, I think they should better removed somes Mario, Fire Emblem and Pokemon characters for the next game because I don't think people gonna laught the Nintendo jokes if they release another newcomer from Pokemon, Fire Emblem and Mario characters by still do f*ck finger to others Nintendo characters when we remember about the Byleth drama in Smash Ultimate with Sakurai who get hardly insulted on his Twitter account for have add another Fire Emblem characters or people who was upset against others people who wanted more Mario and Pokemon characters instead see more characters from the others serie who suffer a lack of playabe characters. I think they should remove the Piranha Plant from Mario Roster, remove Lucina, Chrom and Ike because they are too much similar to Marth and Roy and not only because the moveset since they have blue hairs, swords and cape as well instead be unique so I can only see Corrin and Daraen to have something unique about design or moveset and be so much different unlike Marth and his brothers and sisters, remove Pichu and Lucario or Mewtwo since they are too much similar each other.
-Second way that I like more than the first way: To not add any Mario, Fire Emblem or Pokemon newcomer for the next game except if it's Waluigi or the Black Knight since people want them so much, add more Star Fox characters like Slippy and Peppy who was supposed be playable in the Smash games since Melee before they go cut and add Krystal and Leon Powalski as well, adding more Metroid characters like E.M.M.I, Raven Beak and the Hunters like Noxus, Sylux and others from Metroid Prime Hunters, give somes love to the F-Zero serie by finally add new characters from the F-Zero serie, adding more Kirby characters like Magolor, Taranza, Susie and Galacta Knight, add more new Zelda characters like the Champions from BOTW (Revali could be a good choice since I don't remember to have see a Smash character use a bow as his main weapon) or previous Zelda games characters like Zant, Midna and somes others, add more Earthbound/Mothers characters, add more Sonic, Mega Man and Banjo-Kazooie characters in Smash now they have add them in the Smash serie.
Ah and of course to add more new stages level like they did in previous Smash games instead do recycled stage content just for the fan service with a lack of new playable stage because the true fan know at start the Smash Bros games always have new stage for the next Smash game and very few old stage bring back to the new games and that the roster was always balanced since Smash 64 to Brawl until Smash Wii U/3DS and Ultimate coming and ruin it.
It's was long but it's my own way to see what Nintendo should really do for the next game because, not gonna lie, when Smash Ultimate have been released and when I have see most of the content without and with the DLC, I was feeling disappointing since Smash Ultimate really missing a very good balanced playable characters choice because, when we see there are too much Mario, Pokemon and Fire Emblem playable characters while there is a big lack of playable characters choice for the others serie, it feel like Nintendo try to do somes publicity toward Mario, Pokemon and Fire Emblem serie for force Smash players to give more attention to the Mario, Pokemon and Fire Emblem games as if they was the 3 games who get the worse sales and that everyone don't really care. I don't really understand why they do that since they are the 3 most popular game in Japan unlike Star Fox, Pikmin, Metroid and somes others who are less popular in Japan and who deserve more attention than Mario, Fire Emblem and Pokemon.
So, whatever people think about Smash 64, Melee and Brawl but, for me, those 3 Smash was the best Smash Bros when the roster characters was balanced until Smash 3DS/Wii U coming and remove the wrong characters that they shouldn't remove like Lucas by let Ness from Earthbound / Mother alone until he be back as DLC, Wolf cut from the game by just let Fox and Falco as the two only Star Fox characters while they add more Mario, Fire Emblem and Pokemon characters in 3DS/Wii U until they half fix it for Ultimate by bring back the missing Smash Bros Brawl cut characters in 3DS/Wii U but by still adding too much Mario, Pokemon and Fire Emblem characters so I end up to be back in Super Smash Bros Brawl since the last year and I'm glad to finally be able to create my own characters mods in this game so I'm more focus to add characters who will probably never end up in Smash like Skylanders, Digimon, Mega Man and others since I'm sure Nintendo don't gonna do it for the next game.

When people Said waluigi could represent spinoff game you do know peach and daisy have moves from spinoff games right? Mario also have a move or two as well. Mario spinoff are representing in smash don't need waluigi. Than their Pauline, kamak and spike from wreck n crew he gotten popular over the years which means his chances are slowly decreased for the next smash games.
Perhaps, but I think it still gives justification for his inclusion. Peach's moveset is really only 2/3's of her side smashes, and I can't really think of anything Mario has to reference the spin offs. Waluigi's popularity as is validates his inclusion alone, let alone the spin off status. I really would expect Waluigi to be included sooner than Pauline, Kamek and Spike because of that.
