If I cut the forks how do I then work out the correct of fork oil for the new height as surely it must be less with lowered forks or the pressure will be to great and blow the seals?
Christian Navarro we don’t cut the tube at all- only the spacers inside- which then allow the tube to slide in further, which makes it shorter. Watch the vid again😊
@@montymccune201 doing this method when pulling the bike up or raising it above the ground the suspension will slide back to its original size, right? Because the limiter inside was not altered
Hi. Thanks a ton for this video it is awesome. Can you advise on why you need to cut both the spring and spacer instead of just the spacer, or the spring? Also, is 50mm the advised max for just that fork or all forks? I want to cut my 1980 gs550 spacers this weekend, but was hoping To cut more the 50mm. Thanks again man. Rad videos. 48 minutes ago
Joel Thompson cutting spring and spacer was the only way I could get it short enough. I’m not sure what the advised height is, but just beware that the more you lower, the more it messes with the response of your steering!
When i "lowered" mine i just adjusted where the forks up the triple tree and re fastend it...long way to go before i get it started to actually find out if i stuffed up but...did i? If so how?
HI DAVID,WOW'YOU MADE IT LOOKS SO EASY,SO IM GONNA TRY IT.CAN I DO THIS AND LOWER IT ABOUT 4 INCHES ON MY ENDURO 1979 KAWASAKI KE100 THANK YOU SO MUCH......
This is not how you shorter a set motorcycle forks correctly to make this safe you would have to add an appropriate spacer underneath a damper rod to maintain spring preload and re-calculate the oil volume as this will now be lower because the internal volume of the fork is less otherwise this is just an accident waiting to happen. Sorry David I’m not trying to be a dick but this is incredibly dangerous
Glad this is the first thing you did to her. I love GNs but they would look so much better if they had more of a horizontal angle.
Saving these videos to use when I get one!
I could not figure out how to take the lock ring etc off the top of the fork to change the fork oil on my GN250 so this is great. Thanks buddy.
awesome! it took me a while the first time too :)
Precision machining

Great video. Loving the songs!
hi is it the same process on gn125?
thank you
Hola, cuántos centímetros cortas de la horquilla o suspensión? Excelente trabajo, felicitaciones.
How does the lock ring stay in after you cut off the top? Is there another etched area where the lock ring can seat?

what will happen if you only cut the spacer?

Begeebuz LeScrew I might end up doing the same when I reassemble.
Why not shorten only the spacers? And does the length of spring and spacer add up, lowering aprox 8,7cm?
By shortening any coil spring you also effectively make that coil spring stiffer. (it now has a higher kg/mm rating).
Sir can i you show how to change fork oilseal in suzuki en125..thanks

HI,I got a question, can i do all this shortening by just removing the handle bar so its less work???thank you......
ROME PARRILLA it’s possible, but I think it would be easier in the end to just remove the forks
The build continues! Stay tuned as the process unfolds.
PS,CAN I DO ALL THIS BY REMOVING THE HANDLE BAR ONLY SO,ITS LESS WORK FOR ME?THANK YOU AGAIN......
does the amount of fork oil change after making these cuts?
absolutetuber I put in the same amount
what is the amount of oil you put?
I added a link in the description to the Owners Manual. Which shows the amount of oil the forks take :)
i found it in the manual (page.42) it says Front Fork oil level is 200(mm) mm?
I can't find the fork capacity for my 1995 gn250 anywhere
did u know how i can lower my front forks from my suzuki 750GT 75'
never done one of those before.
House of David M.C. thanks. if u had the oportunity to do a video it will help a lot. this bike is a classic💪
you reversed the lid

He crashed in his last video, this might be why?
