    Hey man. I mentioned this on another channel regarding the noise in the shadow. For c-log 2 you really need 12 bit to handle those shadows. So if you shoot 4k60fps it doesnt have the bit depth to handle c-log 2. Only shoot c-log 2 if you are filiming in 24p/30p raw.
    Also I'm sure you are quite familiar with this but some people are not. RAW video is by design noisey because theres no noise reduction in camera like non raw profiles. So its expected to apply NR in post.
    Good video.

      Hey James. Thanks for the info! I actually notice it alot in the 12 bit as well, but that makes sense when it comes to the 10-bit. What denoiser programs have you used?

    C300 doesn't record prores. C200 really just lack the 10 bit codecs the C300 has. And you can shoot 4K in the c200 it's just the 8bit mp4 or AF codec at 150 mb/s. If exposed well, it will provide a beautiful image.
    Also keep in mind to really use anamorphics fully, you need a taller sensor. EF or PL mount is less the issue of having a sensor that's not 4:3 and therefore being unable to use full height of anamorphic lenses. Alexa Mini may tick all those boxes for you down the road.
    Love the videos over all, keep it up!

    • @DannyGevirtz
      @DannyGevirtz  5 лет назад +1

      Well you can use 1.33x crop anamorphics on it, which aren't easy to find. The Alexa mini is awesome 8 times more expensive haha. Thanks for all the info!

    • @avdcam
      @avdcam 5 лет назад +1

      Danny Gevirtz yah the 1.33s are fun, but 2X really has a different look. Absolutely worth renting tho, and Alexa Mini rental rates are dropping a lot too. Look at the new Atlas Anamorphics too, would be worth a look. ALSO! Canon does modify the c200 with a PL mount AND wooden camera makes a mod that’s 800 bucks. So there are options just permanent ones :).

    The reason for no ProRes or internal 10bit is for Canon to protect the c300. If they offer everything (or more) than what the c300 does, no one will purchase the c300. It’s frustrating no doubt, but they have a range of cameras they have to protect. If they only had one cinema camera they would probably throw everything in to it and it would be unreasonably expensive. Just my thoughts.

    Hi Danny Gervirtz. I'm also a proud owner of a C200 and my biggest issue s the Video Movement. Whether I film in 24p or 30p, I always see motion stutter when the subject move. Even if I perform a still shot on a tripod, I still see the shutter. I thought it was just me but when I looked at Canon's promo video of the camera I noticed that they experience the exact same issues on both drome and still shots of the car and landscape. This annoys me because on Sony FS7 and Blackmagic's Ursa cameras I don't see this issue at all. However, from the quick look at some of your videos, I noticed that your footages appear to be buttery smooth and filmic which is EXACTLY what I want to achieve. I thought the issue might be my post-production work but that doesn't seem to be the case.
    Can you help me out by letting me know what I am doing wrong or the perfect settings I should be filming in to achieve silky film motion, please? I would be incredibly grateful if you could help out. To help, I mainly shoot CRAW

  • @LawtonMeyer
    @LawtonMeyer 5 лет назад +1

    To add to the things you mentioned there's a few things I find annoying that don't seem as talked about. The most annoying to me is that there's only one sdi, I really wish there was a second. Also you can't use sdi and hdmi at the same time. Basically it means I can't have an on camera monitor that's bigger w/luts for myself or an AC, and at the same time send a signal to a bigger monitor for director/producer. It has to be one or the other which is so frustrating and limiting.
    You mentioned anamorphics. With this camera you're really limited to 1.33x. The C700 has an anamorphic shooting option that would allow for 2x lenses which are those nicer ones you're talking about. (The ursa mini and gh5, and other cameras in this general price range also have anamorphic options).
    Another thing is no timecode or genlock. Honestly I know very little about sound, but I just know sound people are always complaining about that.
    Also about the lack of pro res. If it wasn't in the camera but you could record externally that'd be annoying but doable. However they've made it so you can only get true 10 bit pro res in 2k or hd, and not 4k. So frustrating.
    I think this is a great camera for solo shooters but once you want to add some more people or use it with a crew it becomes a head ache. And there's so many small things they keep this camera from doing which kind of make it a hassle to work with sometimes. Honestly if they fixed all the small things I could probably live without the pro res. Pro res would be fantastic though.

    • @DannyGevirtz
      @DannyGevirtz  5 лет назад +1

      I agree with all of this! Very true on the 1.33x which makes it even worse because its not often you come across a 1.33x anamorphic lens. Most of the work I use the C200 on is solo projects, so that being said, I can't complain much.

    Well there is a workaround, which you probably know. You want to be able to record 10bit prores internally. recording it externally anyway makes kinda no sense since it is only 10bit 420. I'm thinking about getting the c200 myself. the first thing i'll gonnaa purchase is the solidPod. compared to c-fasts the ssd's are quite cheat. enough space to fill up with all the raw data. afterwards i can transform all the raw-files direct to prores 10bit 422 clog3 onto my computer and get rid of the large raw's. of course it's a little bit time consuming, but who cares. get yourself a burger at fiveGuys and start editing the proxies you simultaneously recorded to your sd-card...
