Wow! Professor Marion Gibson has done a marvelous job of finding out the truth of the witch trials at Saint Osyth village - Gone is all the mystery and magic, and in its place stands the truth of what happened among a group of flawed people in a society that was only too quick to mete out "justice" to anyone who disturbed the peace. Thanks to Professor Lipscomb for doing this interview!
I am personally, someone who would have taken a modern view towards the efficacy of witchcraft... an explanation that discusses placebo, confirmation bias, etc. and still do have that as a competing explanation and one that's surely true in at least a significant proportion of cases where people believe their spells have had an effect. Events in my life over the past year have made it such that I now think there may indeed be a spiritual reality where intention, deliberate engaging with the occult, etc. can invite the activity of spiritual forces. It's been surprising.

This was so interesting. Tragic and fascinating. Thank you for this.

Really enjoyable from you both.Thank you.
I used to work in clacton and my job took me to St Osyth but I'd never heard about this.
