Thank you for all the information! I have installed a Dutch bucket system outside on my patio - love it and everything grew giant so far! I was always disappointed to see nice zucchini dying from not being pollinated… I found a self pollinating variety ‘Partenon hybrid’. It was too late this year for starting a new plant from seed but I will grow it next year. Could be nice for your inside growing!
Great videos. Really like Dutch buckets. I would not go over 2.0 mS while heavy fruiting or heavy flowering. 1.2 mS is the point where I do most of my growing. The last week or 2 of fruiting, just add water to flush. Use Amino Acids, Fluvic acid and Sea weed extract with your General Hydroponics. Once you add these, they say you are doing BioPonics, using hydroponics with bio stimulants. Use little bio stimulants.
Thanks for the comment! I haven’t ever seen much production ability from plants like tomatoes, squash, and peppers at an EC that low. Curious why you would remove and flush nutrients during the last two weeks of fruiting.
It really comes down to what you want to grow. I grow a lot of squash, peas, and beans. For those larger, more long term plants, I like prefer Dutch buckets. If you’re just starting, go with what fits your budget. Deep water culture systems are relatively affordable, and work quite well. I hope that helps!
That’s a great question! Honestly, my best defense has been keep my systems clean, plants trimmed, debris picked up. Fortunately, I’ve never had an major problems with them.
why does mine drink a lot of water about a liter everyday.. runs out of water pretty fast.. its only about 1 meter long and is not floweering yet. Its not evaporation I have another still young seedling next to it and havent refilled its water yet..
I normally use General Hydroponics Flora Series (3-part) nutrients. I’ve had good results using Flora Series for years. Also, do you mean the entire plant or a few leaves have yellow edges?
@@HydroHowTo the plant generally looks healthy but many leaves will start to have yellowing along the outside edges. This happens with cucumbers and squash. I don't have this problem with tomatoes or peppers.
My squash are growing in 4gal.dutch buckets. The plants are growing extremely well but the fruit is shriveling and rotting on the end. I trimmed the large leaves as recommended. I am growing in well water which is high in calcium. Any suggestions? The cucumbers are also growing and setting loads of fruit but it is not developing. They are staying about 1/2" long. I did have 2 cucs that grew to normal size but a hundred or more are not growing and don't seem to be rotting?
This is absolutely the most comprehensive and understandable hydroponic video I’ve seen to date. I’ll try all your suggestions! Thanks!
Thank you for the kind words, and I hope your grow goes great!

Thanks for watching! They're really easy to pollinate, so if you still have them growing just start swapping that pollen yourself!
Thanks for a comprehensive 'howto' 👍
Thanks for watching!

This video is *extremely* helpful, thanks!!
Thanks for the kind words! I'm happy the video was helpful!
Love the setup and those are beautiful squash.
Thanks! Finishing up a new How-To showing you how to build a similar setup step-by-step!
I've started doing research to set up my own grow system. Can I ask why you prefer Dutch buckets over the rest? They're much more expensive.

Wow, they looked perfect! How many squash has the plant produced?!
Thanks Nathan! This plant has produced 25-30 squash so far. It's been putting out 2 or 3 squash per week since the end of August.
Thank you for the video 😊
You're welcome! Thank you for watching!
How do you handle fungus nats indoors.

5:55 lmfao
I like your sense of humor 😎😂
can I grow two different plant in one pot
As long as you have room for the root mass, and a way to make sure both plants get plenty of light.

A liter per day seems a lot, but the plant will take a lot of water especially once it starts producing fruit.
My leaves often have yellow edges what nutrients do you recommend?

Honestly, if the plant seems healthy and puts on fruit, I don’t worry about it. The leaves may also do that as they age.
@@HydroHowTo Thanks. Good to know.
What dwc brand did you get?
I just made my own.

Did you adjust your nutrient solution to accommodate the fruiting stage of the plants? It sounds like a nutrient deficiency.
Please do okra
Interesting idea, I’ll see what I can come up with! Thanks!
You are using terms I am not familiar with. You lost me
